We found this place randomly on the map and decided to check it out. We had a late lunch so didn't order much. We shared a Calamari and Beef Koobideh Plate and had extra to bring home. We enjoyed food from DiBar Grill as takeout! It was packaged well and the food was delicious! We especially loved the Fatoush Salad and Muhammara - the pomegranate molasses in both dishes was fantastic and so flavorful! Our dishes also came with tahini, mint, cheese, and onion. The cheese was delicious and a nice, light add to the dishes. We had falafel on a bed of fresh veggies. The chicken kabob was tasty - the chicken was tender and flavorful. The grilled tomato was yummy and the rice was as expected! The lamb kabob was too gamey for me but my friend loved it. It came with a lentil and caramelized onion rice which was tasty and better than the rice that came with the chicken. I would recommend these items for sure - Fatoush Salad, Muhammara, Chicken Kabob. I have been going here since 2017 with my family and I don't remember ever leaving this place being unhappy. The people who work here always make a point to give us their best service. About the food: The chicken and beef koobideh kabob are my absolute favorites. These come with a good amount of rice, veggie garnishes and sauces. When I don't want to have the saffron rice, I usually get vegetable kabobs with the koobideh which is a really good combo. The cornish hen is my second favorite so I highly recommend it. SO GOOD! My husband and I went here for date night, and sat to the left next to the bar. The bar has a really cool vibe, and everything we ordered was so flavorful and amazing! Larry makes a mean cocktail! I highly recommend the saffron vodka drink (forgot the name), the pomegranate martini, and the margarita! We've been to a few Iranian restaurants before, so we know what we like in a Iranian restaurant when we entered this restaurant after 2pm on a Saturday. The service was very quick and swift, and there was just another table occupied beside us. I ordered beef Koobideh kabob and eggplant dip-- Mirza Ghasemi , my husband ordered lamb Kabob and Shirazi salad. The Salad was very good according to my husband, and his lamb kabob were genuine lamb chunks, while my beef koobideh kabob was made of beef and herb mixture, but they all tasted very good. Our server was good, although she did not seem to have thorough knowledge of the menu. I ordered a margarita from the menu (sans the egg white foam) and watched as the person behind the bar prepared it. When she placed a martini glass on the bar a coworker called her out on it. Then a customer told her it was missing the salt. She responded that she was going to serve it in that glass because it was pretty, and that the customer didn't want salt on the rim. Having heard this, I called out that yes, I do want salt. They all looked around behind the bar then told me they didn't have any salt. I took the drink without. I took one sip, then had my husband taste it. It was horrible! I sent it back and settled for a bottle of Stella. The Lamb Shank and the Salmon were both very good. We most likely will not be returning there, as no apologies were made for the poor excuse for a bartender. read more

Also came with one grilled tomato, raw onions and cole slaw. GHORMEH SABZI - $12.99 I wasn't a big fan but it was good to try something new. This dish was a slow-cooked stew of sauteed herbs (cilantro, parsley, chives, spinach), Fenu Greek, red kidney beans, one dried lime and chunks of veal ... also served with a big plate of Basmati rice. The parsley flavor of the stew was overpowering ... I did like the kidney beans ... I think we had just 2.5 chunks of veal but it may have been shredded into the stew. We did try a bit of the black lime ... haha probably more for flavoring the stew and not intended to be directly eaten :) I'm definitely returning to try the other kabob and entrees. Just finished my to-go order. Got lamb kabob entree. It came with 2-half roasted tomatoes, rice, flat bread, and lamb kabob. It also came with a bit of basil, onions, and butter. The to-go container is not that big, a little over 6 inches long and going by the pictures, I thought I'd get 2 strips of lamb kabob but I feel like I was only given half of one. It was literally 5 maybe 6 pieces of lamb and I had a lot of rice leftover. I was bummed to see there was no lamb hidden under the flatbread in my photo lol. Maybe I should've asked how much lamb would be given. Still hungry to be honest. Not sure if it was worth $15.80. There was nothing special about the lamb. Love it so much that I returned with my bf's parents to dine here for her birthday lunch! She enjoyed everything. Everyone gets a plate of basmati rice, complimentary sangak bread with butter, mint leaves, feta cheese to start. My favorites from the menu that we've tried thus far: Mast o Musir, Mirza Ghasemi, Taaj Plate for 4 people, Khoresh Gheymeh, Falafel Plate Come with a large appetite and a lot of room. The kitchen is open in the back of the building, while the dining room is spacious with tables that can accommodate both small and large groups. If you're looking for spices, olive oil, and Persian desserts, I'd definitely advise you to check out the market either before or after your meal. The menu includes kabobs of beef, chicken and lamb variety. Beef and chicken kabobs can be ordered a la carte, while plates include 2 kabobs, rice, and grilled tomato. Vegetarians can indulge in falafel, dips (hummus, baba ghanoush, and several eggplant or yogurt-based dips), or salads. Dips are served with flatbread. Location/Parking: Taaj Kabob and Grill is located at the corner of Holcomb Bridge and Spalding. It's on the same corner as the Chevron gas station. It's not large enough to be a meal alone, but the portion size isn't stingy either. The salad is lightly dressed and comes with plenty of onions, cucumber, and tomatoes. I enjoyed the toasted flatbread that was mixed into the salad. Chicken Koobideh Kabob ($4.25) - I ordered the individual kabob because I had planned to exercise afterwards. From observation of other tables, the plates with 2 kabobs are huge. If you are hungry, definitely order a plate so you will get 2 kabobs, rice, and vegetables on the side. I was very impressed with the kabobs. They were one of the juiciest kabobs that I've eaten at a restaurant, without being undercooked. The outside of the kabobs has a nice sear. I recommend you add some of the mixed seasoning on the table to further enhance the flavor, but they're also good without the seasoning. Service: The service is a little slower paced than at other restaurants, but the servers get the job done. The staff is friendly and very patient too. Verdict: The kabobs here are top notch. I would make the drive again to eat here again. The dips are also very tasty and the salads are respectable as well. Before I begin, my food rating is mainly weighing on the grilled meats specially the minced beef koobideh and beef tenderloin "Barg". I was debating whether or not giving this place a 4 star, but i truly think this place is at 3.5-3.75 and not quit 4 star place for few reasons. One being the average customer service (not great, just average without showing any enthusiasm, at least get good at faking it like most servers do, lol), other being the ambience (again average and looks a bit cheap without enough character specially the furniture) and finally the food itself is partially decent for the price and partially (the minced kabobs) are not quite authentic since they are machine screwed. Well I do understand that it is easier and perhaps faster, but I am old school and personally value authenticity. The beef kabob taste pretty good/average and is definitely tender, but it does give a bit of a hotdog vibe which usually is due to adding too much fillers to the meat reducing cost. Again it has flavor and I don't dispute that and there is definitely worse placed in Atlanta to eat Persian food, but it is not Authentic hand crafted kabob koobideh you get here. I will revisit this place in a month and make any corrections/adjustments to my review If I see fit as I truly want to be fair to all business I write a review on. read more

The place is very unassuming from the outside but when you go inside, the dining room is big and is adjacent to their mini grocery store. IThe food here is great and have huge portions. I had to share a plate with my friend. We ordered the chicken and beef koobideh plate combo and also the hummus. They also serve traditional bread with basil and butter. We were both so impressed. The service here is also great. Both times our servers were extremely nice and friendly. Ive been to Rumi's kitchen but they are on the pricier side. Many Persian restaurants charge a lot of money for mediocre food, but at Taaj you get more than what you pay for. The food is fresh, flavorful, and filling. They start you off with traditional bread with cheese and greens. Divine Persian food. One specific chicken dish takes 20 mins and they tell u that beforehand, but it's a wait very well worth it... It melts in your mouth, simply delicious!! This place has one of the best Kabobs in town. Very clean establishment! The Kubideh-Kabob is way better than Rumi's (hands down). The owners of this restaurant are the sweetest and always treat you with kindness and compassion. The Market next door is where you can get some authentic ingredients for your own dishes. We ordered takeout from here for 6 people and when I went to pick it up we were told they were out of something that we ordered though on the phone they said they had it. I also confirmed they put in our order of bread and the man at the front told us "yes it is in there." We get home to find out that it was not in there and neither were two orders of an appetizer. While they forgot all of that, they did not forget to charge us for the bread and appetizers. After two calls we got in touch with the man, who I assume to be the owner/manager, and instead of himself taking responsibility he said teens were working there and got it mixed up. Instead of reimbursing us for what we already paid for he said next time we come we can get them.
