After visiting one Sunday around lunch time, I was not very impressed. We were able to get in before the lunch crowd, which was nice. The atmosphere is a little intimidating if you haven't been there before- if you don't know what you want, it is a bit awkward to stand there while the servers wait. I got a warmed roast beef with onions and special oil on the side. The oil wasn't really my thing, but It was alright. I had to stick a bunch of mustard on it to enjoy it. I did really enjoy the cookies- chocolate chip were so good! I recommend looking at the menu before you go, it is kinda like Starbucks where if you don't know the menu well, it's a little overwhelming with lots of options. As a vegetarian, the have the best damn subs I've ever had, period. Ten bucks for a large veggie sub is unbeatable, especially when they offer olives, mushroom, spinach, onions, AND peppers all at once. No other place does this, nor do they offer to grill all of them. The only downside is no guac - but when you can put BBQ sauce on the grilled veggies, it doesn't matter. Normally I love this place but based on my experience this past Thursday. I will not be returning anytime soon. We cam in about 30 min before close. Staff was extremely rude, there were about 6 girls in the place all talking about who is sleeping with whos boyfriend and other inappropriate gossip. Only one of them was willing to help us. I ordered a larger Cheesesteak. My boyfriend ordered a large BLT. We got our sandwiches to go... When we got home we found that my sandwich was on the wrong type of bread and only half of it had meat on it at all, there were also no grilled veggies, I saw her grill them she just never put them on the sandwich. I ended up throwing away half of the sandwich, cause like I said it had NOTHING ON IT AT ALL! My boyfriends BLT was a similar story... It was full of lettuce and mayo, but there were no tomatoes and 1 piece of bacon! Yup one piece of bacon. Enormous waste of about ~$30. This place used to be great.... If you're a fan of packed, delicious subs, DiBella's is your spot. Not being from Michigan I wasn't familiar with DiBella's. From the outside it looks like any old sandwich shop. On the inside, though, you'll find an atmospheric sub shop filled with overstuffed leather booths and a busy order counter. The subs here are absolutely packed with meat and toppings and come on beefy bread. Some sub shops serve up thin sandwiches on bread so weak it breaks in your hands. Not here. My go-to has always been the Godfather on a multigrain or everything bun. The multigrain is surprisingly delicious and adds a great texture to the sandwich. I must admit, though, the sandwiches aren't cheap. And the place gets busy and the line can move slowly. If you don't like standing around, I would highly recommend calling ahead. I've stood around for 15-20 minutes in line before. Lately, I have been ordering-in by phone and they always have my order ready within 20 minutes for carry-out. Whether you need some food for your family Friday night or something grab-and-go in the middle of the week, you can't go wrong with DiBella's. read more

I've been eating at this DiBella's for well over 12 years. DiBella's used to be one of my favorite sandwiches. Their everything bread was good, roast beef is very rare, and good veggies. Sadly, I have watched this location go down the drain. Everytime I go, I get disappointed and the time between my visits gets longer and longer. It will be midday (5 or more hours before close) and they are all out of everything bread. I don't understand why they can't/don't make more. I would understand if you were 1-2 hours from close, but 5+ hours is not okay. We actually started calling ahead before going just to see if they have the bread. The past few times it seems like there is always a mistake with our order, which is honestly very simple. This last order they put cheddar cheese on my sandwich instead of mozzerella. The words don't sound alike, and cheese is a completely different color. Lastly, there seems to be a lot of standing around going on here. Attitudes can be rude at times, and I have encountered staff that seem to be bothered by the fact I am placing an order. Sadly, I think this was my last visit. read more

I stopped for a quick simple sub on my way back to Milwaukee from Detroit and heard this place was good, so i jumped off the freeway to give it a shot. The service was terrible.The manager was trying to do her best with the people working that didn't seem to understand how the system they have works or how to make anything. So that's a pretty weak point. Maybe it was a bad day or just a bunch of new people. but i have to commend the manager that was working when i went who tried to keep the customers happy. The food however really made up for it, I was pleasantly surprised about just how good the sandwich was. Honestly if the service was just a little better it would be an easy 4 star stop. This is literally the best sub I've ever had. I seek it out whenever I'm around Ann Arbor, not just in if I'm with it 30 miles I'm going. The Godfather is where it's at, it's the signature sandwich. The meatball and philly cheese steak are good too. The roast beef is great, it will turn your bread red. That's how you know it's good. I'm giving this a 1 star for customer service though. I've been asking for almost 10 years now that they open a restaurant in Grand Rapids or west Michigan to no avail. They keep opening them in obscure eastern cities, a dying part of the state. The sandwich was excellent; I chose the Godfather (capicola, spicy ham, and genoa salami) on original sesame, with provolone, lettuce, and onions, and just a smidge of their house oil. I have to give this sandwich an A-. It was all that I was hoping for after reading the reviews--excellent bread especially, and overall great flavor. Very satisfying. Ordered two trays of subs the night before a tail gate. They were ready precisely at 10am when we wanted them. Very good subs! Especially the variety of bread they were on. Nice & soft. Didn't even need the condiments, really, as all the meats (turkey, ham, salami) were very flavorful. They provided us with plenty of plates, napkins, tubs of mustard and mayo (would have preferred individual packets), tubs of onion and tomato slices, and their vinegar & oil dressing. I got here around noon on a Thursday and needed to wait more than 10 minutes to order, and soon after a huge crowd of local office-looking people arrived and I am sure their wait was even 20 minutes to order. This place offers a large variety of sandwiches and you can order them toasted, although they warn you that toasting will take up to 10 extra minutes which seemed a bit long to me. I got a yummy ham sandwich with all of the toppings I usually like. The sandwiches were pretty big. I added a large cookie (pretty good!) and a drink (you can ask for free refills from the cashier). I liked this place... it is a chain but not a huge one. It is definitely a popular spot. If I hadn't discovered Which Wich the next day, I would be raving way more. The oil with Italian spices is delicious. You can load it up with veggies. I had read the Yelp reviews that recommend getting the Godfather. Now I can't wait to go back! You can call ahead and they'll have your order ready for you when you arrive. So I programmed them into my phone. After becoming highly bored of Subway as a mainstay while traveling, I was all subbed out but needed a quick (late!) lunch this afternoon while out on errands. I am sooooo happy that E. Henrietta Road got up and moved to Ann Arbor! Growing up in Rochester and Ann Arbor I have had the opportunity to experience different foods and restaurants. I am super excited that DiBellas has expanded and now has more sub shops than the original in Henrietta NY. These subs are the bee's knees. Always consistent and large enough with enough meat and toppings to fulfill all desires. By far the best sub shop and will put all others to shame. I tried Dibella's for the first time last night. I got the cheese on multi-grain. I have a weakness for bread that's really crusty on the outside and soft on the inside, and this was definitely the best sub sandwich bread I've encountered yet. They were also really generous with the cheese. The prices are just so-so, though. I thought $5.50 for an 8-inch veggie and cheese sub was reasonable for the quality, but it's certainly not a great bargain. The interior of Dibella's is kind of homey and quaint, with the feel of a 1950s diner, but I usually don't go to a sub shop for the atmosphere. The chocolate chip cookies with walnuts looked good- if I go back to Dibella's, I'll have to check them out. read more
