Hi! I had DiBella's for the first time today. I tried a sub off of the limited time offer section of their menu. Ingredients said to be grilled chicken, mozzarella, roasted red peppers, spinach and pesto aioli on a sesame seed roll. Sesame seed roll caught me attention the most because I've never seen that offered in any sub shop I've been to do far. I was disappointed that I wasn't able to taste or see ANY pesto aioli The rest of the ingredients were there and fresh. I was surprised at the good amount of juicy chunks of grilled chicken pieces. I ordered online and it was ready when it says it would be so service was prompt. I was not greeted but the lady that came out the back when I got to where pick up orders are, was pleasant. The restaurants interior appeared very clean and plenty of room for several groups of students. This location is in a college area so that is pretty important. read more

Visited Jan 21, 2026 on the advice of a friend from Jersey, was well worth the drive from Hebron KY. I ordered 3 subs - Godfather, Cheesesteak and Meatball. Each of them were amazing, but the cheesesteak was unreal, they definitely didn't skimp on the meat. Oh and the bread, haven't had bread like that since leaving Jersey. Will definitely be back!! I've always loved DiBella's and I cannot say they miss their mark whenever I'm there! I'm sad to say that when I recommend it, no one has heard of it or eaten there. In my opinion, they are the best subs in Cincinnati! I got a grilled 14" Old Fashion with pepper jack cheese and mayo on plain bread. I've only had good experiences with DiBella's food and quality assurance! Service was phenomenal! They greeted my group of three quickly and prompted started on our orders. DiBella's out classes the other sub sandwich restaurants around in this regard! The DiBella's on Calhoun St. in Cincinnati, like others, is laid out like an older restaurant with diner style booths and historic photos line the walls. Restaurant was quiet due to the lack of customers so there were no bothers while scarfing down our food! I have been a big fan of DiBellas for awhile now for one big reason- that everything bread! Why are other places not doing that?! But I digress. A low carb diet and a coupon brought me in today, to torture myself with the smell of fresh bread, and to get a sad salad (as sub place salads usually are). But I was wrong! They really did capture the essence of their sandwiches in the salads- a turkey & mozzarella for him and an antipasto one (basically the ingredients of The Godfather) for me. By far the best salad base- a good mix of leafy romaine and tender spinach. I am very picky about lettuces and I would have been thrilled with this as an entree salad at a restaurant, so totally unexpected at a place that focuses on sandwiches. I love DiBella's and every location I've been to has done an excellent job. The best thing about dibellas is that they don't skimp on the meat. You really get a hefty sandwich here. I also love that they will grill the meats. Their bread is also amazing. I highly recommend the everything bread, although it is messy. If I'm going to eat in the car I usually stick to the regular white bread. They're all good though. One time when I ordered a small sub here, they ran out of small sub rolls in the bread I wanted so they gave me a medium for no extra charge. Very nice. read more

Food was okay but sloppy because it was served with attitude because he didn't want to remake my sub. I asked for my sub to be remade because he forgot my toppings, rather than just be given a side because I had to walk all the way back to the store. I didn't even want a refund, just my food made right. He then slapped my sub on the counter without even an apology of his mess up. Last time I go to this location even though I love dibellas. I have a good friend that lives up in Mason and loves Dibellas, he's always telling me how I have to try it, but to be honest my thoughts have just been "it's a sandwich chain, who cares?" Then when walking by the Clifton location every day I saw the "Join Club Bread and get a free sub!" and I love nothing more than free food! So, it's now time for me to check out Dibellas right?! Going in I was surprised at how much space was inside, it was a full set up restaurant, with a large ordering counter, and the offer of table service when your food is ready. The new decor looked sleek, and the girls working were friendly. I walked in with a craving for a cheesesteak, but I was worried it might be some subway style microwave and then drop it on a piece of bread cheesesteak (again, I love Subway, but lets be honest...). I was very impressed to see they were actually working on a real flat top to crisp up the (pre-cooked) beef, soften the onions and peppers, and melt the cheese. It all came together on a great sesame bun, which I could have selected a whole wheat (my normal choice but I'm feeling ambitious today), a plain bun, or the everything option. I added lettuce, tomato, and cucumbers, because even when I'm going in on a cheesesteak I love me some veggies! I was even more impressed when I got the sandwich home, unwrapped it, and dug in - very tasty! Was absolutely the best cheesesteak on the block, better than the one from Chicago Gyro, Penn Station, or Highway 55. While mine was free, they of course won't always be, and the price for a "small," which was more than filling, was under $7. Dibellas' veggies were fresh, meat was tender, cheese was melty, service was fast and friendly. all in all, a great experience. I can see why there's the love now! Update - I wrote this review initially about a month ago and never posted it. I've since had two really good experiences, the first one was basically the same as before - ordered, picked up sub, all was good. The second though is noteworthy and had me come back (when I realized I never actually hit submit here) - My brother flew in to spend the CHristmas holiday here with my family, but since he was flying in on Christmas day and we hada 3 hour drive, I knew we'd need something to eat with nowhere open, so I called on Christmas Eve to order subs for the day to come. I called about 2 oclock to place the pick up order, and I told the woman that I wouldnt be able to pick the subs up right away (even though she said they'd be ready in about 5 minutes), because I was working at the time, but I would DEFINITELY be by before they closed at 5 for the holiday. She let me know that they might be closing even earlier because they were getting no business and might need to shut up, so she asked for my phone number in case that came to pass. At 330 she called to let me know that they would be locking up, but still had cleaning/out work and my subs waiting, so if I came by I should give her a call and she'll let me in to pick up (and pay for) my food. Long story short - that's exactly what happened, I made it there, the extremely polite and professional woman let me in, checked me out, and wished me a Merry Christmas. The subs we got were well made, loaded with meat and good toppings, and held up just fine in the fridge for a day (the whole wheat bread got a little dry/crusty, but that's life). Three great experiences here have given me ample reason to return frequently! read more

My first time here is during COVID-19 for takeout, and I think it's a pretty solid choice to eat at for college students. They have a build your own sandwich option and the choices are pretty good. Definitely better than going to a Subway. I'm also not one to talk about ambience but I think I would have enjoyed studying at this location while eating if I actually went in before the pandemic. Good sandwiches, cheap prices, and nice hangout spot once we get through the pandemic of course. If you live close to UC add this place for a spot to get takeout! read more

My family and I stopped into Dibella's Old Fashioned Submarines in Clifton this past Sunday for a quick lunch. This was our first time at any Dibella's location and the staff was very eager to explain the entire menu to us. This is an order at the counter style restaurant with a variety of sub sandwiches available. We were possibly the first customers of the day so we had plenty of room in their very spacious dining room. After placing our orders we were handing table numbers and our sandwiches were delivered with a few minutes. My wife ordered a small chicken Philly ($6.29) topped with grilled chicken, melted cheese, peppers and onions. I wouldn't say that this sandwich is going to win Dibella's any awards, but it was fairly good and the multigrain bread was quite tasty. I ordered a medium size old fashioned ($6.99) with turkey, ham, and Genoa salami. There are a wide variety of toppings to customize each sandwich just they way you like it. I chose the everything bread, which was an excellent choice. Their bread was easily what helps distinguish Dibella's from every other sandwich shop in town. The medium-sized sandwich was plenty big and I would have been okay ordering the small, which was more than enough for my wife. Kid's meal's are available for $5.99 and include a sandwich of your choice, cookie, fruit cup, and drink. The Calhoun Street corridor is crowded with sandwich shops (Potbelly and Firehouse are within a block) but Dibella's offers enough variety to stand up to the competition. read more

This place should have a line out the door with such high quality subs! I have been to events with catering from DiBella's and it has always been great. Delivered early and fresh like you just got it in house. In the store, they'll walk you through building a sub or adding all the extra fixin's like hot peppers or spicy mustard. With three bread sizes to choose from and the base caloric info listed on the menus, you choose your favorite combos of ingredients. I recently got their Corned Beef submarine (keeping with the classic deli ambiance they call subs by their original name). The small came out FILLED with beef and plenty of hot peppers and mustard (my choice; see my picture). The sesame bread was fresh and robust. Their chocolate and Walnut cookie was still warm! Since I came in on Leap day, the cookie was just $0.29! The staff are friendly and seem to enjoy working here. They place old time jazz and music. I also love the classic booths. Next time: I'm skipping the sub/marine competition and coming here again. Such a value for high quality food! read more

DiBella's never seems that packed, which is curious because their subs are really good. I usually get the Italian assorted, and the bread is tasty, the meat is fresh, and the condiments are right in between "noticeable" and "too much." Every time I've been there, a manager or someone else always comes out to the table to ask if everything is okay or if we need anything. I've never had that happen at another fast-casual place like Jimmy John's or Panera. If you get the meal combo, you can add on chips or a cookie and a drink for a small amount. Even a small sandwich is still REALLY filling and will keep you full for the rest of the day. read more

When I heard that another sub place was coming to Clifton, I wasn't too excited, feeling like it's already a pretty saturated market on that frontier. Because of this, I wasn't too eager to try it out. However, I went in there today and was thoroughly impressed. I got a small turkey sub on their Everything bread, with a couple other ingredients and their special DiBella's Oil. It was super delicious (the bread was amazing) and ENORMOUS for a small serving. In some ways, I appreciate that the sub was much meatier than any other sub place I've tried. In others, I definitely couldn't finish the whole thing. I also liked that it was a pretty big (& very clean!) space, capable of handling hoards of hungry college students - unlike Penn Station. Overall, my experience there was better than really any of the other sub places in Clifton. The only reason for the 4 stars is because I really didn't enjoy the cookie that came with the combo - waaaay too much chocolate. Walking through the University of Cincinnati and we decided it was time for lunch. Heard good things about the DiBella's in Mason, Ohio, so we stopped in. So glad we did! We were greeted promptly (and not the obligatory 'hi, welcome to DiBellas,' a genuine greeting!), asked if we had experienced DiBella's before. We had not, so the gentleman taking our orders offered the different types of breads they offered, and showed us what each size looked like. He also prompted us the Godfather and the Cheesesteak were their best selling subs, in case we wanted to try one of them. Not a pressured deal, just genuinely wanted to make sure we knew what we were ordering. We ordered 2 hot subs, one classic. Two Godfathers and a Buffalo Chicken. The classic was prepared as we waited, and the hot subs were out shortly after we had our drinks. The manager came over after we had started eating, asking if everything was prepared as we had imagined. We told him the same I'm writing now: The quality of the bread, meat, and cheese was absolutely top shelf. I know places advertise their bread is "fresh," but this bread was not only fresh, it was delicious. One off the best submarines I've eaten. Service was outstanding. Awesome place to get a sub that just tastes better than the others. First off, they have "everything" bread - that's right "everything" as in "everything bagel. It is delicious and adds a crazy amount of flavor to any sub. I always get the godfather which includes Genoa salami, capicola, and spicy ham. I have them pretty much put all the toppings that they ahve on mine, but they will ask all the topping and you tell them what you want on yours. In addition to a great tasting sub. I also feel it is a good value. The subs are BIG. Full of meat and toppings and a large sub is more than enough to share for two people (or one very hungry person). Great grinders! This place may be a chain, but I wouldn't have known. Second to NY NY Deli, but better hours and location for us. Stick to the cold cuts, get the everything roll- grilled with cheese. You don't need chips or pasta salad. The grinder is a meal in itself. It always seems empty, so a little worried as the location is huge so rent must be ridiculous. Hope it stays. read more

Pleasantly surprised. I ordered a medium turkey club with cheddar oil and tomatoes and lettuce. While I wasn't all that impressed by the turkey the bacon was good. What really was awesome was the bread. It's really very fresh and delicious like sweet challah and soft and chewy. The Italian pasta salad was a bit sweet for my taste but not terrible. This is my new favorite sub shop! I had a chicken philly with grilled mushrooms, onions and peppers on regular bread (small). The bread was the best part of the sub, as it was super fresh and toasted to perfection! I also had one of their giant cookies, and it was sooo good! The employees were really friendly, and my sub was prepared really quickly (and they even delivered it to my table).
