Yeah, it is expensive. I used to come here and sometimes I could find a good softball bat for my team but they don't even have that anymore (kids bats mostly now). The baseball/softball gear is expensive for sure - so are the athletic shoes upstairs. I have bought some camping stuff here and that's mostly why I come to this place at this point if I do come here. Everything else, like I say, is more expensive here than you'd find anywhere else. Since Super Bowl 54 is 5 days away. I wanted to get my wife and I some new 49ers shirts for Sunday. I didn't want any of the bootleg Niner stuff at all the gas stations. I also didn't want to have to drive all the way to Levi's stadium to the Main store in Santa Clara. I was so glad to find this sporting goods store in Pleasant Hill. Dick's has a wide array of merchandise. Anything you can possibly think of for sport gear, they will have. It's the last brick and mortar left now that the internet has taken over retail. Thank goodness because sometimes you want your stuff right away and not have to wait for it to be shipped. So did they have what I was looking for? Absolutely. Dick's had a nearly limitless amount of 49ers merchandise to choose from. There has to be at least three sections that has 49ers apparel. I had the exact shirts I wanted for my wife and I. We received great service from Dominic at Dicks in Pleasant Hill a couple weeks ago. We were looking at a new fishing pole and perhaps a few supplies for a Christmas gift. We weren't sure where to begin and Dominic helped us pick out a a nice Rod and Reel and bag and other items. This review is for the two very helpful young men who worked the bike shop last night. My husband and I stopped in to buy a couple of mountain bikes. One young man helped us take down the bikes we were admiring from the upper racks. They were great and we decided to get them on the spot. The young man called a colleague and for the next 20 minutes they diligently worked on checking the bikes to make sure everything looked good, checking the brakes and refilling the air in the tires. They even installed kickstands, bottle holders, a bell and an on-frame pump for us. They were very thorough and extremely polite. Five stars for fantastic service. read more

Upon asking one of the staff for a particular shoe size, I was told that it was unavailable for that size for any brand and to check online. However, I then checked from the kiosk the specific brand and size was available and some other staff got it for me. I am disappointed the staff aren't doing due diligence with their responsibilities and deny immediately they don't carry it! The cashier lady also was rude and dismissive when I informed about them about it - she was like yeah I don't blame them?! Long overdue. I was at this location several weeks ago. This review is for Russell who works at this location who was such a huge help to me, he went above and beyond looking for this life jacket I needed to purchase. There was none on the floor, he looked it up on his phone and it said they had a couple. He went to the back to look for it. And he asked another employee where else it would possibly be stored and that guy didn't help him at all just said it wouldn't be back there. I waited and after he went to the other end of the store to search for it he came back with the jacket! Wow! All that effort he went through to help me find this item I was so appreciative. I come here at this location numerous times and most of the workers here don't offer to help and there are a couple who works upstairs (bike section in particular) who will not bust a move to even begin to help look, no effort at all to help you look for whatever you're looking for. They display one shoe person style/color. You NEED an employee to go to the back and get what you want to try on or purchase. The young man who "helped" me was very cocky, claiming he knew it all, and that they definitely had what I was looking for. Well, then as he scanned one shoe after another, we found one single style that was available in my special sizing. I was trying to find a 2nd style to try on, but apparently he completely disregarded my request. He never told me what to do if I didn't want to purchase those shoes. I couldn't find him after I tried them on. Had to ask some other employee, who kindly took the shoes off my hands. They clearly don't get commission. I see why it gets awful reviews: It's just unmotivated young folk helping you and so that comes with an expected level of inefficiency and incompetence. When I walked in, I was pleasantly greeted by an employee who promptly turned and walked away before I could ask "where do I go for an online order pickup?" Okay. The employee behind the register was just finishing a transaction and no one was in line so perfect--I asked her. She responded with "what's your order?" Which was a vague question so I asked her if she wanted my order number or what the item was--i think she was annoyed by my attempt at clarification so she repeated her initial question, paused, and added "what is your name?" Oh okay my name is ... She has a 2-way radio on her shoulder, she states my name and says I am here for a pickup. She tells me to step aside and it will be here momentarily. I step aside. She was okay, just had a little trouble communicating for a second... Then she comes over and asks me for my last name again, what the item is. Okay clarified, it has only been seconds... no problem. I step behind her counter area to check out some basketballs and immediately wander back in front of her to be sure she knows I have not walked away. She's helping others now... people start to line up behind me, I have to walk away and tell them I'm not in line... then the greeter is back and notices I'm still standing around and asks "have you been helped?". I say I have--and she asked "have you been checked in? For an online order?" I say I have checked in with the girl behind the counter and gesture to her--she is now unoccupied and states "I have his order". The greeter asks "did you check him in?" She responds "no". The greeter asks if the item is ready and the girl pulls it out and says I have it right here. Weird. She was just letting me hang around for a minute to enjoy her loveliness? Cool. The greeter checked me out and I was in my way. Kind of a fail on a really simple thing--by both employees really. If the greeter asks what I need initially none of this happens. Consistently awful slow service- takes hours to try shoes. System is terrible and staff apathetic and unavailable.

I was trying to the socially conscious thing and do curb side pickup for one item. Do not use this feature, just order from Amazon, it's cheaper and faster. Their website said they had 4 of these in stock and that curbside was available. Its been days and I still haven't gotten an email to come pick up my item. Not sure how backed up they are but I can't see why it would take so long to get one item to the door of the store. Their customer service online isn't very helpful. They told me that my order would be ready by the next morning, nope, nothing. I needed the item because it was an emergency and I didn't have time to wait for amazon. I was not able to do what I needed to do because they failed me. #plansruined so I had to order from Amazon and you know how bad amazon has been during this pandemic. Once again DO NOT USE CURBSIDE PICKUP BECAUSE THEY SUCK DO NOT WASTE TIME. IF YOU NEED SOMETHING RIGHT AWAY JUST RISK DEATH AND DISEASE AND WALK IN AND GET IT. I like the selection, that being said it is too large of a selection for the staff. Most of the staff is not familiar with the fishing equipment, they could not really answer any questions I had or make any recommendations. I like the location and layout, but this store doesn't seem well maintained. Specifically-their dressing rooms are completely disgusting. I am talking multiple massive dust bunnies and not a space you want to step foot in. More disappointing, an attendant checked the room before I went in and didn't see any problem with it. I was really debating whether or not to just let a manager know the state of the rooms, and when I decide to find a manager it ends up being the exact attendant who let me in the room in the first place. Surprised this branch hasn't closed but I wouldn't be surprised to hear that they're struggling. The employees at this branch are the walking dead. You can tell most of them hate to be there. I went in line and asked if I could return something to which I received the reply, "unfortunately, yes you can." Fantastic attitude, dude. Then I shopped around a little and looked for a fitting room. I buzzed the button for assistance for them to unlock one for me and waited 10 minutes while probably 5 employees walked passed me not making eye contact. I asked one of them if they could unlock for me, and she told me to press the button. I asked someone else (same dude from the counter) and he halted like I just really threw of his work day and called for someone on his radio to come unlock for me. Customer service at this location is exceptional. I placed an ordered online and planned to have my sister pick it up. I made mistake when picking up the shoes which caused the team to hunt around the store for my order. They kept me on hold on the phone until the package was located, but everyone who picked up the line as I was on-hold was very patient and professional. After pedaling a short way the bikes pedal fell off. It turns out that the inside of the device had been striped! When it was dropped off at Dicks they said it looks like the pedal was put together wrong. Dicks assembled it... So after waiting at least 30 minutes we picked up a bike from repair at Dick's. We got home and went out for a bike ride. In less than 1 block the pedal fell off in the middle of the street! Great going Dick's!!! 1. Shoe dept. soooo understaffed. 2. Shoe dept. staff doesn't seem all that interested in their job. 3. Website inventory does not match in-store inventory. You know how I know? Of course you do. But I'm going to tell you about it anyway. I went online and found what I wanted. Then drove to the store to get it. Firstly, it took half an hour to get someone to help me, and when he did, he said they didn't have the shoe I was after, even though the website clearly said it was in stock. He suggested a different shoe and went to get it. Ten minutes later he appeared with it and disappeared. After trying the shoe on, and finding that it wasn't a good fit, I waited another ten minutes before flagging someone else down. Same thing again. Another ten to get the shoe, and another ten to find someone else to help me find yet another shoe. After waiting around another ten minutes, I finally gave up and left. They had to order an expensive tennis shoe in my size and the employee walked me over to his computer and said here fill out all the information and then screenshot your confirmation number. Make sure you have plenty of time and patient to go there. There is no one to help you and if you want to even try the clothes in their fitting room, no one will show up. After waiting for a long time, I asked casher guy since he was just standing with no customer to help, he reluctantly open for me after waiting for additional 15 mins. I called ahead of driving in to ensure that they sell individual golf irons (needed a 9 iron, not an entire set), and an employee told me that they do sell individual irons.
