I shop here regularly and have never experienced poor customer service. Employees always helpful and kind.

They do NOT do curbside returns at this store although their website makes you think they do. The process is to park in the designated curbside pickup spots, call the store and dial 0 to let them know you're there. When you call it rings twenty times and disconnects you. I finally got through to a person on the 5th call. She asked for my name and did not mention that they don't do curbside returns when I said that was why I was there. 30 minutes later I flagged down a guy doing a curbside drop off for the car next to me and asked him what was going on. He didn't know about returns and said he had to ask inside. 10 minutes later I had to flag the guy down again for him to tell me they don't do curbside returns. What a giant waste of time! read more

We've spent around $300 each football season for the past 4 years (gloves for practice, gloves for games, girdle, padded shirt, mouthguard, cleats, etc.)... then another few hundred for baseball gear (cleats, socks, belt, practice pants/shirt, gloves & bats every once in awhile, etc.), and a bit of cash for basketball & track stuff. Stopped in the other day to re-up on football stuff... needed 2 pairs of gloves, 2 mouthguards, girdle, cleats. Had a 20% off single-use coupon to use so thought it'd be a good idea to get everything at once to take advantage of the offer. Grabbed 2 pairs of football catching gloves & the 2 mouthguards, and headed the find help to be sure the guard we had was compatible with braces (our teen swore it was, but the package didn't specifically state this). The female team member at the register simply said, "I'm not sure," and made no further efforts to help or find out. I waited for another team member to approach the register areas, and asked him if he knew? He said the guard was not made to protect braces. Cool, thx. Since I was already at the register & before heading back to the football department for girdle & cleats, I thought I'd ask if my 20% off coupon had any restrictions (as far as certain brands, minimum purchase amount, etc.). The same female associate said it should be fine; she suggested that we just scan our stuff & the coupon to see if it applied to what we had. Okay, great. Since no one was in line, she scanned the gloves (retail $45 each) + the mouthguards ($24 each)... but the 20% off coupon wouldn't scan. She tried a few times & her scanner was lighting up only intermittently, but she concluded that because it wouldn't scan, the coupon must be invalid or expired! I explained that it wasn't expired & asked if she could manually type in the code showing on the coupon? She said no, because it wasn't scanning so it probably wasn't valid. Huh??? Made nooo sense! I decided I wasn't going to shop for the other items we needed (girdle & cleats), and I stood aside & found several items for much better prices online @ Eastbay, Nike, Adidas, etc. Unfortunately, we needed the gloves & mouthguards the next day so ordering online wasn't an option. I went ahead with the purchase & was about to pay, then I overheard another customer giving the cashier her phone number-- I was reminded that I could get Dick's Cash for a future purchase by using my account/phone number. So I asked the girl helping me if I could please enter my phone number?? She INSISTED that I'd already given her my phone number... uuhhh, I knew I hadn't spoken my number outloud. My blank facial expression said what I was thinking, so she makes a huge deal about having to backtrack to the previous screen. She then asks for my number, I tell her, she says it's not registered. Omgeee, I use it every time I shop here!! She probably mistyped, but she keeps saying it's not working. I should have walked out by now, but I'm not even thinking clearly because I'm so shocked at how silly this entire process has been. I literally have to login to my freakin' online Dick's account to give her the stupid member number-- the one linked to my phone numberrrrr!! Such a hassle, and I didn't even get to use my 20% off... which would have helped makeup for the wasted time & energy, ugh. Guarantee next time I'll order ahead on Eastbay & avoid this store experience entirely. read more

Terrible customer service! Walked in today to buy soccer shoes. Impossible to fine someone to wait on us despite multiple sales people in the area. I asked one young sales person if he could help us. He told us "I am busy". We patiently watched him wait on a guy for 15 minutes shooting the shit with him, all to watch the guy not make a purchase. The management at this store did not acknowledge a coupon that was given to me a month ago. The guy at the register made me feel like I was lying. Then I asked him if there is a customer service desk. He said no and told me to call them. (At least he have me their number). Customer service was amazing. They said just ask for a store manager and tell them what we spoke. I never got the chance to speak to the manager but he sent a message through his employee saying we will not honor the coupon. It was only $20 off. I'm not one to look for deals or buy clearance. I had some $150 dollar cleats in hand. The fact is. They made me feel like a liar and made me feel unappreciated as a regular customer. This experience is enough for me to never shop at Dicks again. I'm going to google another place to buy sporting goods because they have lost a customer for life. I called customer service again and told them the experience. They offered to give me a bigger discount if I ordered online though them. I declined. They are great and it's to bad the store employees do not care as much as them. I buy cleats and sporting equipment about every month. Sometimes it's nice to be appreciated for your loyalty to a company. I wish I could give this place 0 stars. Absolutely trash. They advertised online they had a huge selection of basketballs in store for shopping or pickup. We drive out our way to check their selection out. Big mistake. 1. We were greeted by an associate who called the police on us suspecting us of shoplifting before we even started to shop. 2. They only had one of the basketballs they advertised online. They had maybe seven selections overall one being women's basketballs the other being kids. 3. I purchased a pair of slides and got home and realized the slides were terribly worn. We ended up finding the professional better basketball at Target for a lower price. My son hasn't put the basketball down. As we exited the store we noticed the police officer was meeting us until she talked to the associate and seen we had paid. Terrible store no products, terrible inventory, terrible customer service. We ended up returning everything today. read more

I needed a Warriors sweatshirt to wear to the game. Found one I loved but it had no tag. The sales associate took about 10 minutes trying to find it in the system so he would know what to charge me. When he was unsuccessful he enlisted the help of another young lady. They both apologized for the wait and did their best to help. Ultimately they called the manager, whose name I am told is "Robbie." After another long wait "Robbie" ultimately put in whatever information was needed to charge me for the sweatshirt. By that time I had been standing at the register waiting for 25 minutes. Despite all of the foregoing, "Robbie" never apologized to me for the wait, or said anything to me at all, or even acknowledged my presence. When he was done he just walked away. I was very disappointed by the awful customer service this manager demonstrated. I also noticed the two sales associates who tried so hard to help appeared visibly tense in his presence. So while I'm happy I got my sweatshirt, the manager made me feel like a bother to him and demonstrated extremely poor leadership and customer service. How am I supposed to pick up my curbside order if this store is closed everyday? If your store is going to be closed, how about you turn off the curbside pick up option for your store? I ordered these items on Wednesday 3pm and it was wasn't ready until Thursday which is understandable. But, how are you going to be closed the following days when I have "4 days" to pick up my item. I usually enjoy shopping at dicks but their biking customer service is terrible! I was able to change the back tire of my sons bike on my own but had trouble with the front one and so I advised him to take it to dicks. My son had brought in a spare tire along with a spare tire tubes (both new) and was told that it should take no longer than a week to change it. Little did I know, it took more than 5 weeks and I found out that nothing has been done to the bike. Front wheel still had the old tire and tube. In addition, they had lost both the new spare tube and new spare tire. They spend over an hour looking for it with multiple staffs but couldn't find it. To sum it up, take your bike to an actual bike store rather than here to save yourself time and money. read more

Dicks is the largest sporting goods store in our area. Although parents, and children alike spend hundreds of dollars here pending every new season of sports...... they can't fix their equipment. We just bought a 300.00 A2000 glove and according to their employee their machine to break in gloves has been broken since September 2021!?!?!?!? Fix the machine DICKS! Seriously WOW. read more

You have to try hard to be this bad. I came in on Thursday, needing a pop up, camping chairs etc. I found that getting help on the floor was impossible. One employee even turned his entire head to not meet my eye and then ran by. Managing to get the products downstairs and to checkout because I really did not want to go to another store but none of the 3 employees at checkout could stop chit-chatting long enough to let me pay. I came today to see if I could exchange a gift I received right before businesses started to close due to the Shelter in Place orders took into effect. I didn't want a refund nor a different bag. I wanted the same exact bag just in a different color. I spoke to the cashier right by the entrance. I told the young man my situation letting him know I don't want a refund, credit, I wanted the same exact bag just in a different color. He was very polite and helpful and told that would be fine just as long as I get the same exact bag. So I proceeded to head upstairs and located where the same exact bags were located and debated which color I wanted. As I head to the checkout I even double checked with the helpful young man to see if I were to go straight to him or get back in line. He told me to line up and they'll take care of me. It was another cashier that rung me up. I had to explain my situation again but he told me I needed a receipt. Much to my confusion I explained again that it was a gift. He stated well I needed a gift receipt which I didn't have because the person that gifted it to me didn't give me. Than he says you can bring in their card if they paid in card?!? My relative that got it for me lives out of state and I'm suppose to get their card? Than he suggests I can ship it to them! I mean how rude would that be to hassle my relative who went out of their why to get me this bag just for an even exchange!? Even on my way out the young man who was helping me was a little perplexed and asked "what happened??" I told him what the other cashier told me and he was like "what???". Totally confusing and frustrating to be mislead today. I could understand if I were trying to get a refund of some sort, yeah I get it. I've been a general manager for a major retail chain, but for even fair exchange for the same exact product just in a different color. I don't know but the GM for this location needs to have another training for all their employees, not just cashiers on their return-exchange policy because it seems like nobody knows what it is. Dick's Sporting Goods at the Concord location has lost a customer in me and I will encourage everyone that I know of not to do business here. Many thank yous to the young man who helped me out today. *BEWARE* DON'T GET YOUR BIKE REPAIRED HERE!!! Took my sons bike here to have the crank repaired and a "tuneup". Dicks had his bike for three months, never communicated with updates. I constantly had to call and got the run around about why it was taking so long. Turns out they had to order a new back wheel because after taking off the original one they couldn't put it back on, and of course that was on backorder. Finally!!! Three months later we go to pick up the completed bike. My son so excited to ride it left the house. Five minutes later I hear the door open, my son brings in this finely tuned/repaired bike thru the door. $75 later here's a look at their fantastic work. Needless to say I went back for my $75 from the DICK'S and took the bike to a real bicycle repair shop. read more

Stay away from this place! And here is why: 1. Customer service is very poor. Everyone stands around or keep hiding somewhere around. Most likely in the warehouse. 2. Staff DO NOT know much or anything about products the are supposed to sell or DO NOT do sports themselves. Not even ping-pong, like one of the sales reps told me. 3. Employees in that particular store, are not helpful to themselves either. I was waiting in the line of 6 customers, and there was just one person behind the register working. When he called for help in order to speed things up, nobody showed up. NOBODY, even though I had seen 2 other employees walking around before getting into the line. 4. If you happen to talk to any of the employees (if you are lucky of course), they will not be nice to you. Their attitude is very bad. I can't fathom that poor performance. This place is right off the freeway so always a plus. Plenty of parking at the front and back. This place is huge inside. I was shopping for a birthday present looking for size xxl the options were a little limited. For smallest people they have plenty but not for the larger people. The men's section is huge but the kids section wasn't as big as I hoped. The woman section has is small but they have some quality in there. My boyfriend found plenty of north face shirts. They have some good quality clothes and camping gear. They have a huge warrior section. Price was a little high but worth checking out this store. read more

I drove out to this location after calling the night before to confirm I can come by to get my tennis racket restrung. he was able to give me a same day service and was extremely helpful with giving me advice on which type of string would be best for my tennis racket and play style. He was very helpful with referring different websites to find a wider variety of tennis gear, and was overall a very friendly and pleasant person to talk to. Goodbye theater, hello sports store. And it's a biggie. Dick's Sporting Goods competes with Sports Authority and other similar stores. Most of what you'd want is there: baseball, football, golf, bikes, camping, hunting (yes, peacenicks, they have rifles for sale), boating, skiing, and most of the bottom floor is clothing. How can little guys like Big 5 compete? Price. Well, Dick's needs to pay for that huge new building in some way. And they probably do so by seeing what the recommended retail price is, and charging that. If you're as price-conscious as I am, then go to Dick's, because that visit will make you a more loyal customer of either Big 5 or Sports Basement. Good for sports nuts with money to burn, not amateurs like me. read more

I can't blame the proprietors of Dicks - from what I heard a year ago at the scene of the crime, Dicks management had no idea that the proud new location of their Pleasant Hill store actually came at a very high price. I don't expect corporate types hundreds of miles away to understand that their presence in a small town might actually break a few hearts. It did. But they didn't make the heart-wrenching decision, they were simply what Pleasant Hill politicians thought would be best to fill the void. Whether or not it was what local citizens wanted, or needed. To be fair, the store is beautiful. It is clean, well-stocked, and the one employee we did interact with was knowledgeable and friendly. The staff here serves their business proudly. I have nothing bad to say about the store itself, aside from the price points seeming a little steep, but I'm not the target demographic for a sporting goods store anyway, and I have no intention of giving this Dick's location or any other a cent of my money, simply because I won't put money in the pockets of business people so out of touch with the cities they choose to break ground in. One small ray of hope remains that the politicians and developers who let this happen perhaps understand that they hurt this community with their actions: 4 concrete tiles line the main entrance to the sporting goods store, etched with a simple line drawing of our Dome. And to the left of the entrance, where the hallway to the secondary theaters once stood, is a bronze plaque honoring our beloved Dome, and sharing a small part of its history. read more

Ehhh...not impressed with the customer service. Well the associates were nice but we literally had to beg for someone to help us. We were looking for something specific and asked 2 different people for help and they just pointed and said "it's over there." Well we still couldn't find the item so we pressed the help button by the fitting room. 5 min passes by and nobody and to help. So we pressed the actual help button and wait while both lights were on. 10 min passes and still not one associate available. So I call the store from inside the store and tell them I've been looking for assistance for over 10 min. Finally a couple min later someone finally helps us and go figure, the 2 original associates had directed us to the wrong place and that's why we couldn't find the items. My boyfriend called to see if they can assemble his 18-speed bike after calling so many places and being quoted $100+. Dick's only charged him $35 and took about an hour and a half. Called Dicks for a crab snare. They said that they had plenty in stock. I came in 5-10 min later. Waited around for staff to acknowledge me. Pushed the help button and waited another 15 minutes. Mind you there were maybe 5 customers and 10 associates. Was finally helped by two people. Asked about the snare and they said is it on the shelf? I said no. They said well then we don't have it. I said I just called and they said there was plenty. One of the guys rolled his eyes shrugged his shoulders and turned around. The other said they must of went fast and walked away. I came to the first week of the Pleasant Hill's Dick's Sporting Good store grand opening. Great selection of sporting goods and the store is well spread out on two floors. Prices were the same as Sports Authority and I didn't noticed any sale items marked. I did noticed the large shoe area and noticed that the Under Armor clothing section was featured first over the Nike section. I made the Under Armor switch a few years ago knowing that the products were of the latest technology. The staff seem knowledgeable in the sports training area. Lots of knee, elbow, and wrist supports to protect against injury. I ended up purchasing a SF Giants baseball cap and Oakland A's t-shirt. Support the local baseball teams. Friendly staff at the customer check out area. I received a Dick's Scorecard - The Rewards of Sport so I will see what this card will return after so many purchases. Great store, I'll be back for another visit. read more

The retail space of Dick's Sporting Goods is beautiful, thoughtfully laid out and has a nice open, 2 story floor plan. Aesthetically I was pretty pleased with walking in the store. Their merchandise is top notch as well-they carry high quality work out gear from Nike, Adidas and even Lucy brand. Be aware, however, that there were no sales, no clearance sections and everything was marked at full list price. Do you want to pay $70 for work out capris? I didn't think so.... Quality, presentation and layout is great. Pricing, not so much. I can't imagine shopping here without some serious discounts or coupons....Slightly disappointed at what they are charging for goods you can get discounted elswhere. read more

I recently purchased a tent from that was on sale for 119.99 form the original price of 199.99 when I came into the store to purchase this the lady at the counter insisted that I was wrong and that this item was not on sale so then I bring it up on my phone and shower her and she said that she needed some else to help. This whole time there are about FIVE other employees behind her not doing anything to help me or the other customers behind me. This is not like REI. Been spoiled and decided to stop in here to kill some time. Super bright store and it seemed like it was a cool store, but they don't have much hiking stuff or outer wear. Okay, I was looking for Patagonia outer wear and they had like 5 clothing items for women's!!! What kind of store is that? 5? They're lucky they had this xs small vest I fell in love with and bought it, but man....felt like an outlet store. I thought I was just blind and couldn't find it, so I asked someone. She brought me to a rack that had ONE patagonia jacket and apologized saying that they should get more in. I roamed around to the men's area that advertises Patagonia. And the selection is not that great either, All those NFL jerseys and 2 sizes, small or large. I went to Big 5 and they were happy to take my money.
