Went in there the first guy we had to deal with was very inattentive yawning not asking any kind of question. Kind of a bump on the Lodge kind of guy. I tried to explain she has two forms of arthritis. He said that's not a big deal no concern. I stated it most definitely is a huge concern and it is a big deal. Look through a bunch of clothing and I had decided we were not going to be buying sneakers that day. We're gonna wait until somebody else with more knowledge would be there and help us. I did poke my head in the back room saw two ladies sitting back there one lady who is black haired glasses on the heavier side, only describing her just so you know to avoid her... snapped at me and stated he's very knowledgeable and went about our business. Put the clothing up on the counter and another man little older came over and said did you need some help and I stated that I did because the first guy was not very helpful at all and he redid all of the evaluation of her legs, her feet to the way she walked, and so on. I explained once again she had the arthritis issues and he said we can definitely put her in the right kind of shoe. We chatted and he said she most definitely needed to be in a neutral shoe. She walked around in it, and it felt comfortable, and we purchased them and a bunch of other clothing. She started running and field hockey with these shoes on, and every day would come home complaining that our cabs were aching. Her legs were hurting. They felt like she was running with blocks on her feet. I googled the type of shoe he put her in and sure enough. It was a stability shoe. She most definitely cannot wear stability. She needed a neutral. I called the store, asking to speak to the store manager or the store owner. The person on the other end stated he was the owner. I said oh good and I explained the whole situation and he said yeah that was me. I helped you I remember you. I said will you put her in a stability issue not the neutral that you said she most definitely needed. He stated oops. I said oops that's not an option, I said you have created some more leg issues that she truly did not need. He said I said oops are you bringing them back or what? I said wow OK, yes I'm bringing them back. He said how long before you'll be here? I said I'll be there shortly. I walk into the store he spotted me, turned around, went and hid in the back room !!!! A very sweet lady short haired brown haired lady with glasses came over and said are you returning these? I said yes I am! she said is everything OK? My response was no everything is not OK. Explain the whole story to her and she said well if you would like to bring her back in I would love to work with you. I said I had you in the beginning. Everything probably would've been different, however, the way that the owner responded and treated me I will never give this man another dime of my money!!! Buyer beware avoid the store ! The lady stated you have a long, huge history of purchasing with us. I said yes we have spent a ton of money here only to be treated like this so I will never be back.!!!

The young man working offered to have a manager call me, so I left my name and contact info, but over a week passed and I never got a call, so as I was driving today I just happened to pass by here and I decided to stop in at Kevin Smith's. Hockey specialist Jon greeted me at the door and was super knowledgeable and nice. He's played juniors and pro himself and knows what he's talking about without making you feel inferior for knowing less or being a beginner. He patiently answered all my questions and had some great suggestions. He spent a good 30 minutes with me or more explaining the pros and cons of my current CCM and demonstrating value and quality of some other brands. I did not feel pressured to buy anything. He helped me get my Superfeet pro hockey insoles inserted, too. He let me know too about their sister store in St Albans and what they offer there, too. I emailed Umiak and paid over the phone for a 2pm rental at the Waterbury Reservoir. It was super easy. Perle and his co-workers were extremely helpful and got us in the water just after 2. We had both kayaked before. The boats are in great shape, everything was clean and in good working order. Understandably, the parking area was quite full, but Perle encouraged us to park along the road, making it less challenging to leave later. We had until around 430pm to return the boats, which was helpful because there was a bit of a bottleneck at the boat launch on a Friday afternoon. They took everything back to the shop, saving is a trip! We had a great time, the price was right ($45 x 2 for 2.5 hrs), and we'll love to come back!

Arrived as it was leaving with another customer. I was very interested in a kayak Umiak advertised on their website. I called and spoke to Brian on Sunday to confirm it was there. He advised it was there. I explained that I was VERY interested and was concerned it would be sold before I could come see it. I was assured it was fine and not to be concerned. Monday we had a snow storm. I called and spoke to Brian. I explained I was really wanted that kayak and was worried it would be sold before I could get there. I provided Brian with my credit card info etc. and asked if he could consider it SOLD. He took all my info and said he wouldn't charge the card until I got there but that the Kayak was mine. I spoke to another person there Tuesday and explained that, as it was a 14' kayak, I'd like to come with a trailer but couldn't be there until Saturday. I was assured that my name was on that kayak, they had even just wiped it down for me and it would be ready for me Saturday. I explained again that I was concerned about it being sold before I could get there but was assured it was fine. Saturday I arrived just as the kayak I had "purchased" was leaving in the bed of another persons pickup. Brian apologized, said he had messed up, etc. none of which does me any good. A specific trip was made to Stowe. If I'd had any indication I should get there earlier I would have. I'm not sure if this is incompetence or a lack of ethics on their end but unfortunately I, as a consumer, have no recourse but to complain. My son and l received the BEST of professional advice when we went there on Saturday ( yesterday). Concerns about comparative features between guns, laws about "carry" were easily answered. Although, we were not aware that Datilio's is closed at noon on Saturdays, all required paperwork was handled and necessary phone calls made in a professional and timely manner. All the shelves were stocked with an unbelievable variety of fishing tackle , archery paraphernalia, etc. for avid sportsmen of all types. We were AMAZED at the ease with which our questions and concerns were handled by all the gentlemen working at Datilio's . They were only too happy to help novices and experts who walked through the doors ! Inadvertently, we held up two employees 20 -25 minutes past closing time, but were treated with courtesy and respect the entire time.
