We ordered takeout from here a couple of weeks ago received pulled pork instead of brisket and the rolls were burned. I called to talk to a manager and she said the rolls are intended to be toasted. I have eaten here too many times since it opened, I have to take more fiber at night... the brisket is tender and delicious, but the jalapeño cheddar kielbasa is the secret of the place... the okra is perfectly fried every time, and the Mac and cheese reminds me of what my grandma used to make... get a big yellow cup, it's totally worth it for the refill price... it is mine and my wife's favorite lunch, dinner and whenever we have the munchies place :) read more

I have a rule that bad bbq is better than no bbq - but this place has changed my mind. Beware of any BBQ place that doesn't smell like smoke. As others have said the Brisket is terrible. When I ordered I tried to order sliced and the staff responded "I'll try but it's not wanting to slice well today" .. which is because it's way over cooked. It has very little flavor, no smoke ring and terrible texture. It did indeed taste like Sunday roast (which isn't a compliment.) The ribs weren't any better and lacked flavor of any kind. The BBQ beans were watery and the biscuit was a joke. The waffle fries however were FANTASTIC! If you really need BBQ go somewhere else ... there are enough places in town that are getting it "right" you can just avoid Dickeys. read more

2 months later we gave them another try. We got our food and brushed a table and chairs off so we could sit down, there were so many flies in the place it was disgusting, the problem was they don't wipe their tables down, people throw their trash and that's it. Stopped at Dickey's Barbecue for the first time today to have some lunch. Great place! The staff were very helpful with suggestions. The food was delicious and the dining area was clean and inviting. Andy, the manager, came around to the tables to make sure everyone had what they needed and were happy with their food choices. I had the Brisket Sandwich that came with two sides. My wife and I saw this place a few weeks back and said we had to come give it a try. We both love ribs and that is usually our standard for a good BBQ joint. We were on a cheat day and splurged a bit. Not knowing what the portions sizes were we got a full rack of ribs and a 3-plate of pulled pork, kielbasa and brisket (definitely brought leftovers home). The ribs were on point and will definitely have to come back for that. The kielbasa was great too; a nice hint of smoky flavor to compliment. Went in Dickey's yesterday to get take out at about 11:39!am. Everyone was wearing masks, except a man at the register ordering food. I mentioned the mask mandate to to staff ( there were 4 guys behind the register & to the man ordering the food ) everybody acted like it was no big deal. In the meantime his hand was touching his face, then touching surfaces. He then went over to the pop dispensary and proceeded to touch and breathe all over that equipment. Only when I insisted the staff disinfect the register area, did they start spraying it down. Forget about the pop dispenser- I wasn't going near that (& that was never disinfectant. They obviously think making a buck is more important over customers safety. read more

I've tried this place twice. My first time there the food was awesome.Not this time! The food was terrible. I think they gave me leftovers from 2 days ago. I ordered a half slab of ribs to go. I should have looked at them before leaving, they were so dried out that the edges were cracked and compleatly dry. I think they skipped the seasoning and smoking process all together and just went for the oven. I want to support local business but this was pretty bad. read more

Terrible BBQ. My food was barley warm yet soaked in grease. Then I went to push sauce on it which was cold. I am very aware of germs so when I saw a worker in her apron pick up her child who visited her at work and rub the child on her apron I was disgusted. The child's shoes were at her belly... so then she return to work with her same apron on and food touching her grease covered apron once again. I will not be returning. read more

Stopped in last night at 8:55pm not realizing that they were getting ready to close. When I opened the door & peeked my head in to ask if they were still doing business. The 2 young employees welcomed me with a smile & told me to come on in. Now, they could have easily told me they were closing & I would have drive away not giving it much thought as 9pm was just minutes away. But, the employees were not put off with the thought delaying their closing duties to provide service to a customer. See, this was my first time going to Dickey's but it won't be my last!...The food was very good at a reasonable price too. read more

BBQ is good but little pricey for oz of meat you get... it seems to be less than other Dickey's I have been to Out West.

Dickies has a purpose but it's very average bbq... wrapped in plastic... fun sides... inconsistent results...

I have worked customer service and in the food industry for a long time. I ordered Dickies over the phone. Then I proceeded to go across the street to pick it up . When I arrived inside the guy who was standing there goes did you do your did you do a call in order . I responded by saying yes I did actually and then he proceeds to kind of shove this bag towards me and then tell me my total . I had already left the phone call when I was placing the order slide he didn't ask me specification on sauce he didn't ask me like specification on anything wasn't kind on the phone so I had already let that go and so to come inside and have this attitude . I seriously hope that this is not a race thing like I really moved to Jenison to kind of start over and I love Dickies I always eat here everywhere I've lived I always go so you've lost a customer in Me by the way I was treated and I did kind of get that vibe that I wasn't welcome . I don't appreciate the experience I won't be back I will miss the food because I am a huge foodie but I just wanted to let you know my experience this was in the last few weeks I've been thinking about this for a long time I just didn't want to get anyone fired but if you would like further information comment on this and I would love to talk with the manage read more

Had to try this new Bbq place. We knew having just opened that the service or food might not accurately represent how things will be once it becomes a well oiled machine. First thoughts are that it's a friendly atmosphere and the menu has plenty to offer all. I tried a two meat platter. Brisket and smoked turkey. The brisket had a great flavor but it wasn't brisket. It was a Sunday roast. It was so tender it could not be cut. Just fell apart like a pot roast. The smoked turkey was delicious. Decent smoke flavor, nice smoke ring, and tender. My one complaint would be the end piece that must have soaked in a bunch of brine solution. It was too salty to eat. For sides, I tried the Mac n cheese and waffle fries. The waffle fries were amazing. The Mac n cheese, nothing to write home about. We will be back in a month or two to see how things improve. Looking forward to enjoying more from this place. read more

Dickey's Barbecue Pit - American Near Me - Jenison, Michigan

So our first visit, similar atmosphere as City Barbeque. Our visit was based on wanting some bbq and trying something new. We ordered four pick two entree's. I tried the pulled pork and brisket sides were coleslaw and Mac and cheese. Initially put off by the brisket sliced to thick and dry and little to no smoke flavor. It was tuff from being dry and possibly over cooked. The pulled pork was okay but they should ask you before the salt the hell out of it. However again, very little smoke flavor. The rest of my family tried some different meats as well. Two rib bones for what looked like under cooked ribs. I told him not to eat them. But the fact you get two. Part with some cash and drop four bones for crying out loud. It's an all profit business. Mac and cheese was like cheese wiz and had no real cheese texture. So others said it was the best ever. I disagree. It's a velveta consistency. Turkey was dry but tasted good. Coleslaw was great, the best thing we tried. I would say I would stick with they pulled pork and ask that they don't salt it. The Mac and cheese is much better at sloes bbq. So if your stopping for lunch it's not terrible but it's not great like real Texas bbq. The staff running the orders may have never experienced Texas bbq so they would not know the difference. The most odd thing is you didn't smell anything like bbq when walking in. It could have been a target for all you would know. I'm curious if it's bad timing. I will try again to see if it improves. read more

The food was very good. We had the brisket and pulled pork classic sandwich platters. Sides of Mac and cheese and baked beans very good. And the waffle fries were also fresh, and the seasoned salt was good, too. Good portions. Lots of meat on the buns. The only drawbacks were $2.50 for the drink -- only one size, but the cup can be brought back in the next time and refilled for .99. Other drawback was the wait... we got there about 5:15 on a Thursday, and the line was short, but the time to order and get it filled was slow. Our fries had to be brought out to us, but we had to remind the workers. We will go back for sure, though, as the meat was really good!!! read more

Have eaten at many Dickey's over in Wisconsin when on business, so was very pleased when these guys opened. Actually ate here on the grand opening day. The service was slow but they just opened and this should improve. I usually get the 3 meat plate with double brisket and jalapeño sausage but opted for the Westerner this time. Sandwich comes with 2 meats but I am a brisket guy, so got double brisket. Sandwich was very tasty and great flavor on the meat. I have had slightly better BBQ before but paid much higher prices. Love all their meats and the sides. One suggestion that I know will not happen; get some cornbread instead of the rolls. Rolls are fine but got to have the cornbread with BBQ. Never will walk out of there unhappy or hungry. Love Dickey's!! read more

Food is good but the service is INEFFCIENT and SLOW. The first time I was there we were next in line but we waited over 5 minutes because the person taking the order was saran wrapping all the meats & placing it in something before waiting on us. After placing our orders she proceeded to take the meats out! Every time we've been there the service has been slow. The menu is a little difficult to read as well. read more
