Two meat and two sides and Texas toast, with a side of a rib
    Violet H.

This is not the Dickey's I remember. I went to two locations in California years ago and enjoyed the food. But times have changed. The prices are higher, and the portions smaller. I'll start with the sides. I got delivery, which took a long time because of traffic, and I believe that affected the quality of the mashed potatoes. They were a gluey lump, but they still tasted okay. The green beans were bacon were terrible - the green beans were overcooked and the bacon was nearly non-existent. But someone dumped a ton of pepper on it, so for me, it was inedible. The baked beans were fine. It came with Texas toast but you get only half a slice these days. Now for the meat. The smoked ham was good but way too salty. One expects ham to be salty, but not this much. The rib was good. The sliced brisket was fine, although nearly to the point of getting dried out. I asked for original BBQ sauce and got nothing. I appreciated that the sauce was on the side but it only works if they actually pack the sauce. I also got a pulled pork sandwich. It was small and smashed down, and meh. They did have great 2-for-1 deals I took advantage of, so I saved a lot of money. But the quality just wasn't there.

As a self proclaimed BBQ judge , I've eaten my way through smokehouses across the country, and Dickey's in Kapolei truly stands out. The brisket here is competition level perfection, clean smoke ring, and tender with just the right bite. Ribs are textbook, pulling cleanly from the bone without falling apart, and the pulled pork is moist with just the right mix of bark pieces. Even the sides are dialed in, especially the green beans and mac & cheese. And don't skip dessert, the owner recommended the pecan pie which is rich, nutty, and the perfect sweet finish to a BBQ feast. He was right!! Service is top-notch: the team is friendly, quick, and clearly proud of what they serve. The Kapolei location adds its own island warmth and aloha spirit, giving it a family vibe that sets it apart from other chain restaurants. Consistently excellent, great portions, and fair prices....this Dickey's proves that chain BBQ can deliver the real deal when done right. If you're in Kapolei and craving authentic Texas-style BBQ with a local touch, this is the place.

Haven't come here in a long time but we always loved the brisket. Unfortunately my serving of brisket (which is $1.25 extra) was dry and needed sauce for flavor. I enjoyed the fried okra but the bbq beans that is supposed to have bacon in it had absolutely no bacon in it. The service was great though.

I can always count on Dickey's for a delicious, filling meal that hits the spot every single time! Today I treated myself to the one-meat plate, and let me tell you... it did not disappoint. I went with double potato salad because it's truly that good and honestly one of my favorite sides ever. I topped it off with their sweet BBQ sauce (my go-to!) and that warm, perfectly soft corn muffin that just completes the whole meal.

$20 for this?! Pictures on their menus are deceiving folks beware. And they forgot my bbq sauce.

Ordered take out and it wasn't the best bbq I've had. The amount of meat we got was ridiculously small for the price. 1 star for the extra bbq sauce they gave on the side and the fried okra. Plenty of okra given and it was good.

YES Dickey's is back and better than ever! The staff were friendly and food was Amazing! I ordered the half rack rib plate and the ribs were THICC and juicy. I couldn't decide which of the 8 bbq sauces to get so I bought extra for $0.50 each to try three of them (Original was my favorite). If dining in they have a nice open and clean dinning area. I saw online on sunday kids eat free with an adult plate so will be back then. So grateful to have an amazing Texas BBQ place on the west side again!

Visited again and loved the food as always! Mac and cheese, fries and brisket never misses. Always a winner, and the staff were so kind and accommodating. Also tried the pecan pie this time and LOVED it! Will always be back :)

    Bbq ribs

Originally from Texas so I'm picky on BBQ. Got the brisket and ribs. Both are amazing! Super tender and full of flavor. Had loaded potatoes also for the kids that do not eat meat. Bbq sauce was super good . I like that they have the drink machine with 100s of choices . Customer service was great. They had little strawberry ice cream cups for the kiddos for 85 cents so it's nice to see affordable treat for kids. On Sunday's they have kids eat free with adult entree so a great way to take everyone out ! The place was super clean also! Workers were very nice.

Ask the Community - Dickey's Barbecue Pit

Do kids still eat free on Sundays?

Do they have the free soft serve ice cream?

    yes

    Do they serve rice?

    Yes

Does anyone know if their phone works or if they take phone orders? Tried to call numerous times and it rings and rings...then it says "Remote Access code needed at the end."

Late October 2018, I have personally witnessed the phone ringing while workers behind the counter winked at each other saying, "I don't hear anything, do you?"

So is there table service or must I order at a window after standing in line?

You would order at the window and then grab a table :)

We got the family mini pack - it's great for 2-3 people who have a large appetite- 3 large pieces of Kalbi - bulgofi - man du - BBQ chicken- meat Jun - rice and choice of 4 veggies. It's a generous portion of meat more than enough for 3 people and we had leftovers too. The food is very good the Kalbi is a standout and the fried Man Du and meat Jun was excellent. We loved the seaweed w/ daikon - tofu and kimchee all so good. The people are friendly and really helpful - parking is plentiful. So you can imagine the pure joy I experienced when I walked into Gina's and recognized the banchan, size and char on meats, the smell, being surrounded by local families and friendly faces behind the counter. My heart leapt for joy seeing that I could have both fish jun AND kalbi and if I wanted I could've gotten a third choice. My eyes spotted a familiar side dish of seasoned potatoes, which I left it for the next person and got the daikon, perfectly seasoned not dry at all jap chae, and kim chi cucumbers. When I took my first bit into the kalbi, life was made good again. It was reset and welcome home I needed. It was a perfectly cut and marinated kalbi. The fish Jin was seasoned so well I barely needed to dip it into a sauce. The portions could have fed 2. I asked if they were related to the Gina's in Market City. Bro, this is the OG Gina's!! The owner said they sold the other one and his mom helped him start this one. It looked like the whole family was behind the counter. I wanted to cry. Not all things have changed in Hawai'i! Some things got better! OG Gina's being in Kapolei is one of em.

The jasmine rice with the chicken oil and fried garlic was very good. Isaw- wow! I was a little skeptical ordering it due to bad experience from other places. I'm so glad I listened to their first customer (their neighbor). The isaw didn't have any of the gamey smell and taste, it was so good that even my daughter ate it.
