I don't like giving a bad review but this one deserves it. Food was a no go. The meats was cold and tasted like it was sitting out all day. okra was slimy and the beans was cold and tasted like it was straight from the can. Very disappointed because we wanted some good smoke meats. Service was horrible, no offered to help us order while looking at the menu for like 10 minutes. Just need better customer service, the workers look like they were in high school and needed better training and better supervision. Went to put ice in my cup and part of the mechanism for the soda machine fell out and no one came to help fix it or pick it off the ground. I picked it up and asked how do I fix it and they said to just put it on the side. Go to fill up my drink and what do I see mold on fountain, looked like it wasn't cleaned for a while. Restaurant needs some TLC from the workers and owner. Tables were sticky, splatters all over the walls, floors by soda machine had remnants of spilled drink that no one wiped. Dickey's you guys need to do better and train your staff to assist customers, keep your place clean and serve better food. Sorry but I wasted my money and I hope you guys fix this. On my recent visit, I used the app to place an online order for pick-up. I ordered the 2 for $29 Special. The app says 2 for $29, but it is actually $32 and some change, which seems like a good deal. However, there isn't an option to order free onions and pickles, so you have to pay extra to get onions and pickles. While I appreciate the option to order online, it is not convenient when there is a set time to pick up, but you still have to wait a couple of minutes for your order to be ready at the restaurant. After which you realize, once you are at home, that you are missing a few items from your order, so you have to drive back to the restaurant to get your missing item(s)-- a missing item in my order did not only happen to me on my recent visit but also when I used DoorDash to order delivery. So, I would double-check to ensure that you got all of your items before leaving the restaurant if you're picking up the order yourself. Nevertheless, I do like the food here... I ordered the Chicken Breast, Sliced Beef Brisket, Mac and Cheese, Cabbage Slaw, Dinner Roll, and Sweet Barbecue Sauce. And my boyfriend ordered the Polish Kielbasa Sausage, Pulled Pork, Fried Okra (not pictured, Caesar Salad (not pictured), Dinner Roll, and Carolina Barbecue Sauce. We also ordered the Pecan Pie and Potato Salad. The Chicken Breast and Sliced Beef Brisket are my favorites to order. The chicken is cooked perfectly and has a wonderful herbal flavor. The brisket is tender and juicy, and I love eating it with the Sweet Barbecue Sauce. Mac and Cheese is one of my favorite side dishes, so it is a given that I would order it. However, the Mac and Cheese server here isn't the best in terms of flavor, but it's decent. This was my first time ordering the Potato Salad, and I have to admit that it surprised me because it tasted very sweet and tangy. It wasn't bad, but I'm just used to having plain old Potato Salad that is milder in flavor. I usually would get the Barbecue Beans, but I settled on the Cabbage Slaw because I wanted something lighter and more refreshing. The flavor of the Cabbage Slaw was mild, but I prefer it to be that way anyway, rather than tangy, so it was good to me. Overall, Dickey's Barbecue Pit is the place to go if you want some barbecue. While it may not be the best out there, I think they serve some pretty good food. This is maybe my third or fourth time coming here, and I definitely will be back again. read more

Ordered the westerner plate thinking it was going to be a plate of bbq meats with slaw and Mac n cheese. It actually was a bbq sandwich with a choice of two meats and I chose brisket and pulled pork. The sandwich is nicely portioned on a buttered roll, and inside it had two hard cold slices of orange cheddar cheese. So when I got home, I threw it in the air fryer for a quick toast, and that was perfect! It melted the cheese too! Warmed up the Mac n cheese as well and great! Ready to dig in! The Mac n cheese not so tasty. It was bland, just mediocre. And it wasn't the ooey gooey kinda Mac n cheese, shucks! That's ok. Now on the sandwich! The best part was the bread! But the meat...the brisket was WAY WAY TOO SALTY. I had 2 of my family members try and they were blown away by the saltiness. We did not finish the sandwich, just could not. That salt was a slap to your tastebuds! Whoa, take it EASY! Maybe just a sprinkle like mister salt bae and I'm sure it would have sufficed. Zero stars of I could for the Kapolei location. I ordered the kids meal and asked for either wings or ribs. They told me that the kids meal don't come with anything that has bones in it because they weigh it. I looked at the menu and it said that the kids meal includes either wings or ribs. The manager won't believe me when I told him that so he had to come out and look at the menu himself. When he read it, he still wouldn't give me the wings or ribs and told me it was a mistake. It's a chain bbq spot but there's so little bbq here I'll stop in every now and then. I went today and got a brisket sandwich combo and kids pulled pork meal, $31...geez. When I went to fill my drink there were fruit flies in my drink. When I brought it to the workers attention she said it was the syrup. I worked in restaurants and have changed both syrup and the nozzles for the machine. Those were fruit flies! She didn't even offer me a different cup. Bad customer service. My wife bought a meal for 6. As you can see from the picture, it's for six keiki. The pulled pork and chicken looked dry. First bite confirmed it, so I tried to drench it in spicy bbq sauce. Too bad the sauce they gave us for six people couldn't service one person. My first 3 bites of sauce with pork were manageable...then I ran put of sauce. I was thinking of eating my 5th day of thanksgiving leftovers. The leftover turkey looked more promising. At this point only the dog looked at this pathetic bbq with hungry eyes. She also licks her butt, so her opinion doesn't count. My kids love Mac and cheese...until today. My daughter who has yet find a Mac and cheese she doesn't like said, "this Mac and cheese tastes funny". No sweetie it doesn't taste funny, it tastes like a used dish sponge. I went to Dickey's for lunch. There's lots of parking. I asked one of the workers if I was early (no one else but me) and she said it's usually slow during the day but busy at night. They have great customer service. There's a very large menu but they were patient and helpful. The biscuit was a little dry, and the brisket was a little too salty for me but may be perfect for others. There's self serve fountain drinks and a self serve beer on tap. Truly lacking in customer service with false expectations. We ordered 5 meals online with 1 hour prep period before it can be ready to be pick up. After an hour waiting, drove down to the establishment for our food only to be notified by the staff that 3 of the meals ordered was not available and had to pick substitutions for them. With an hour submission of our order, staff had sufficient time and courtesy to contact use before coming, they had all necessary information online to do so. Worse, they had very limited stock in their offerings of meats so we requested for a full refund. Staff was unable to process the refund as the manager was the only one that could do so and at that time was on vacation. Staff assured us that a refund would be processed but to date no refund was ever credited to our account. We return to the establishment a few weeks later to report that the refund was never processed, again the manager was not available and staff advise that Danny, the manager, will contact us with information on the refund. NO CONTACT, or any call with a substantial charge of $112+ for NO SERVICE, false expectations and ZERO food given. Very bad experience and likely last experience with this establishment, family all agreed to never go back again. read more

The service is in pint, very friendly and their timing was spectacular. Everyone is friendly there. This is the ONLY Dickies kn the island so My expectations were high. They did not disappoint. The family meal i got brisket, Mac and cheese, fries, jalapeño sausage, and beans. The brisket was JUICY, soft, tender, and full of flavor. I came from Tennessee so my expectations for brisket is on par and boy they did not miss. My only flaw for them is I wanted MORE! The fries had a perfect amount of salt and were crispy. The mac and cheese could use a little work but they addressed the issue which was awesome. The beans, wow.... They were delicious!!! I'm not a beans person but i gave it a try and did not regret it. The sausages had flavor and it was not spicy, just right amount of spice. My son's Turkey was juicy and soft. He killed that meat. Overall this Dickies is highly recommended and this will beat out any bbq joint on the island, especially Dixie Grill. Finally got to this place! The interior is really nice. The service is nice! Lots of parking! Right across the parking lot is my favorite sandwich place - Jersey Mike's. I found this place to be ok. If you compare this to Sunset Smokehouse - then all is lost (no one compares to Sunset). But if you compare it to other barbecue places around in Honolulu, then it's ok. Brisket was ok, not great, but not bad. The ribs were tender, but lacked a lot of smokey flavor. Nothing that my barbecue sauce wouldn't fix. For some reason the sauce from Dickey's was too vinegary to me. I like the sweet version, but this is all individual taste. To me, it needed sauce on most things. The one puzzling side was the jalapeño beans. It tasted bitter and lacked any type of real flavor other than the bitter ending. Variety of choices. 1 meat, 2 meat. 3 meat, tacos, sandwiches, And more I ordered the pork ribs with 2 sides and westerner, which is a sandwich with 2 meats and 2 sides. My sides were Mac N cheese (yummy) beans, mash potato (has bacon in it) and cole slaw. I really liked the westener. Also cornbread with real corn pieces inside. What amazed me the most was the service....in and out in less than 5 minutes and the food was tasty. I say "maybe" I would recommend because the BBQ was the saving grace. When walked in the floors were slick as if they had grease on them that's not been cleaned properly. The whole place is in need of a facelift. I walked up to order and stood there for a couple minutes before one of the three, very young employees acknowledged I was there. They looked very overwhelmed. I ordered my food and the girl who took my cash couldn't even calculate how much change I was supposed to get back and was very confused. My order was $21.32 and I gave her $21.35. She then asked if I needed my change and I said, "just keep it". Once I got my sandwich and fries, I had to ask for new fries because the ones they served me were entirely too over cooked. They were dark brown, basically burnt. If I'm paying $21 for a small sandwich, fries, and a drink it had better be close to perfect!!!! When I went to get my drink, over half the options were out. The bottom of the drink machine had standing water in it, which was gross. The soda I HAD to choose because what I wanted was out was barely carbonated. I grabbed ketchup packets for my fries and they were covered in sticky ketchup from some packets that obviously busted open and leaked all over the other packets. By the time I got to eat, the brisket sandwich was very tasty and so were the new fries I asked for. The BBQ sauce was also very good. This place could be so much more than it currently is. I'm finding this seems to be the culture here in Hawaii where they barely care enough. Thank God I didn't get sick. After the fries, sticky ketchup packets, and drink area I became concerned. So this place is easy to miss if you blink, in the back corner of the strip near WalMart, behind Jersey Mike's Subs and Panda Express. But the food is decent. We just needed a quick bite and they fulfilled our order within a 10 minute phone call. The services were helpful to recommend with the food and we got our food quickly: the medium deep fried okra, Mac and cheese, and Brisket and cheese sandwich. The Mac and cheese was absolutely delish. Cheesy without being too rich and at a medium serving we got a good amount of food in the bucket. I could probably eat the whole thing, it wasn't over the top cheesy. The okra was awesome-the okra nuggets were bigger than my thumb and nice and crispy. Now the sandwich was okay-it was a little flat on the flavor to be honest and we needed to add some bbq sauce ourselves. It's basically Brisket, square cheese, and a small bun...which had we not reheated up ourselves would have been a lower bready-flavorless hunk, but microwave and sauce=life savor and it was pretty good! Had such an awesome experience at Dickey's. They hosted an event this weekend of their awesome outdoor patio. The food was AMAZING, as was the atmosphere and the service. I ordered a 1/2 pound of the brisket (both sliced and chopped), a 1/4 pound of the jalapeño cheddar kielbasa, and a medium order of creamed spinach. Everything was so delicious. The brisket was super tender, with flavorful, blackened edges. I love that they offer sliced or chopped pieces. The chopped was much fattier and juicer, but both were great. The Kielbasa was my favorite. I was impressed by the spiciness and the gooey cheese. Best kielbasa I have ever had. And my favorite part of the meal; the creamed spinach. I am a sucker for good creamed spinach and this hit the spot. Creamy, well-seasoned, and hot. It warmed well for leftovers, also! Can't wait to bring more friends to try this place out! I was so excited to try this Texas Style bbq! They did not disappoint. I am from the Midwest were Q-ing, is a religion. This ain't no Korean' bbq, this is the real deal makem squeal slabs. My esthetician told me Dickey's Barbecue Pit was open in Kapolei. She also had to explain to me that there was a new small shopping center next to Kapolei (shows how much I wander around the island). Anyhow, I love barbecue. Who doesn't, right? The following week, I said to Dan "There's a barbecue place in Kapolei. Kristin shared its good and if we dine in, don't mind the wait." I dislike waiting for long periods of time and I dislike long lines. I looked on their website for the menu (of course) and to see if they do take-out orders. Not only do they do takeout orders if you order in person BUT you can order your food online AND specify what time you'll be picking it up (the earliest is 15 minutes). I ordered and paid online for four meat plates with two sides. I also chose the earliest pick up time. When I walked in, there was a line with people staring up at the menu waiting to order. For online orders, you go to the right and head straight to the cashier (on the side of them by the window) and let them know you did an online order. They were double checking my order when I got there. I felt like a VIP as they handed me my order and I walked out while everyone else was waiting for their food. Lesson of the Review: New places that will have a crowd dining in? Order online if the restaurant offers this type of service also. Ate here several times, but they were all take out orders from a coworker who picked up for us at my workplace on the town side and I've always thought it tasted oook or that it would taste better eating it fresh in the restaurant. So after a hike with the family, we decided to finally come in person. We ordered the Family Pack (2lbs. meat of your choice, 6 dinner rolls, and 3 medium sides of your choice). This pack feeds up to 5-6 people, buuut if you can smash, then it'll only feed about 3-4 people lol. Anyways, we chose 1lb. of beef brisket (tender and delicious) and the other pork ribs (not as tender as I wanted it, but still really delicious), all 3 sides were waffle fries (delicious), and a side order of chicken breast slider (it's chicken breast so it's dry), dinner rolls (look like square shaped uncooked piece of bread, but was buttery delicious), and 6pcs. buffalo flavored chicken wings (ok tasting). Don't forget to use their bbq sauces, it'll make your food even better. Overall, the food is better in person and meant to eat right in the restaurant. The food is super expensive, but it's bbq in Hawaii so it's kinda expected. We paid about $75 for the food alone. This place is located across from the Kapolei Walmart in the same parking lot area where Panda Express and other establishments are. The staff are fast, helpful, and friendly. I remember when they first opened and the line was ridiculously long! I've even stood in that line, to check out the hype. It was good! Fast forward to the present, 2021. The line has definitely diminished, in fact before COVID happened, the line didn't go out the door and go down the walkway anymore. The hype died down, BUT the food is still good - Hooray! They've stayed consistent with taste from the first time I tried Dickey's to the last time I ate here recently. Something to consider when you do read my review - I have no authentic Southern BBQ to compare this to. Meaning, I have never been to the South and ate BBQ there. I only ate BBQ on the West Coast and in Hawaii (there was a really good place that I ate at in Kihei, Maui). Dickey's is a chain restaurant spanning across the Continental US. So I figure, it's gonna be as close as can be for me to try this style of BBQ. I loooove Pulled Pork and Brisket, and of course I have to get Mac n Cheese and Cornbread. The meats are tender, seasoned well, but I still have to have the BBQ sauce with this. No sauce doesn't give it that BBQ feeling/ taste. Mac n Cheese is well... Mac n Cheese. It's not bad, but it's not THEE BEST ever. It's franchise, commercial grade - came in a large box and let's push it out kind of stuff. It's not gourmet. It's okay though, it comes in a small container and it's tasty enough. Cornbread for me I like a little more grilled, you know when it's crispy-ish on the outside, but still spongy inside. Their's is more like a cake, but it still tastes really yummy. Plates also come with a bun. It's slathered with butter on the top, which I like :) The bun isn't fluffy or anything, it's pretty dense, but it also tastes good. Maybe I'll try making a little bun sandwich with it next time... Pricing is high... that's where it can be a kicker for most people. I've spent money on worse food and sometimes less food, so this to me isn't too crazy. At least I'll eat majority, if not all the food, so it's not a waste. Btw, I don't eat a whole lot, so I'm just a 2-meat plate kinda person. They do have daily specials available, Packs, and Plates. Texas BBQ in Hawaii!?!? Yes, please!!! I came here for the 1st time 2 weeks ago and I must say... worth the wait!! This place is Cafeteria style where you stand in line and order your food then find a table. I came in on a Saturday night around 6:30pm and the line was to the door! Thankfully, their menu is on huge chalkboards so you can look at what you want before getting to the front. Once at the front of the line, the workers are literally slicing and dicing the meats right in front of you! It's like Subway for BBQ! You select your meats, then sides, and order your drink at the register. Your order is ready before you leave the register! You then head to the condiment table where they have THREE different BBQ sauces to choose from: Sweet, Original, and Spicy. I loved the sweet BBQ while my boyfriend loved the original. Here's what we got: My boyfriend and I both ordered the 2 choice plate with brisket and pork ribs. For my sides I ordered BBQ baked beans and the baked potato casserole while he got cabbage slaw and potato salad. I LOOOVED my sides. The baked beans were sweet and smokey while the mashed potatoes were creamy and chunky. As for the meats, the brisket was hands down the star of the meal. It was sooo juicy and tender. You could cut it with just your plastic fork! The ribs on the other hand, I was disappointed with. They were very dry with not a lot of flavor. The BBQ sauce did make it a little better. Another thing we got was their cornbread. For $0.50 more (when ordering a plate), you can upgrade your buttered roll to a cornbread muffin. DO IT!! Although the roll was good, it was super dense and doughy. The cornbread was one of thee best ones I've had! It even had kernels of corn in the cornbread! YUM!! The last thing I tried was their sweet tea. It was in one of those steel containers with a spout attached. I was a bit shocked when the tea came out warm. I had to get ice to cool it down. Overall, it was waayyyy too sweet for me and I needed to add A LOT of water to water it down. They do have one of those fancy Coca-Cola dispenser machine where you can mix and match your own soda concoction. For some reason, they didn't have ice so you needed to use a ladle to scoop out the ice from a giant bucket by the register. I hope they get that fixed soon! It wasn't the most appealing thing to see or do. One more thing worth mentioning are the serving sizes here. The 2 entree plate was more than enough for me but, it definitely wasn't enough for my boyfriend. You might need to get a 3 entree plate for those who are bigger eaters! Every plate comes with 2 sides and a roll (or cornbread if you upgrade). You can also get a side of cornbread for just $1!! The last thing I wanted to mention is, if you don't think you're going to finish your food, definitely ask for your food to go even if you do end up sitting down to eat. The food is served directly on a tray with a piece of parchment paper so it's really difficult to get that to-go. They will give you a to-go box after the fact but, it's just easier to get it to go from the get go vs bothering the already busy cashier with boxes and covers for your sides. Wow. I remember when this place first open a few years back, food wasn't great but I just assumed it's because they are new and trying to work out the timing of the food and such. Well, here we are several years later; it's not the timing, it's the food AND price/portions. I paid $26.68 for a "3 meat plate" which consisted of "two (2) baby back ribs, three (3) pieces of brisket and five (5) slices of chicken breast. The first thing I noticed was everything they cut came out of a plastic bag? I get that this place isn't really a "bbq joint" but didn't expect to see food wrapped in plastic wrap. Everything was room temperature, definitely not "hot". The portions are REALLY small for the amount they charge. The brisket was way to soft, almost no texture. You can press it through your fingers almost like dough. The ribs are also way to soft, no "chew" at all. If you like fall of the bone, these ribs are for you. Also, they lack in any kind of flavor or seasoning. The chicken breast has no flavor at all. You know it's chicken breast because that's what they tell you it is. Everything definitely need to be completely slathered in sauce to make it known that you were eating bbq. The baked beans also lack in flavor other than being really sweet. They didn't seem to be cooked long enough either. The coleslaw was the star of the show along with the sweet tea. Was really disappointed with the food (quality and taste) portion and prices. All in all, not a place I'll be returning too ever again. I'm glad to see they survived the pandemic, but no reason for me to suggest to anyone looking for BBQ. I heard about this place and was excited to try it out after enjoying their food on the mainland. I like the food here on Oahu, but couldn't find a place for some good barbecue. I was happy with my experience here. You walk in and it immediately has an old western vibe. They have a decent selection of meats and sides. You can get a sandwich or meat on a platter; either way you get sides. As for meats, you can choose from chicken, pulled pork, brisket, polish sausage, jalapeño sausage, ribs or turkey. You can get your platter with 1, 2 or 3 meats. I got the pulled pork and brisket. Both were great! For my sides I got baked beans and the baked potato casserole. The beans were pretty good and the casserole was basically mashed potatoes with some of the stuff from a loaded baked potato mixed in. As for drinks, the have a Coke freestyle machine (yay!) but they don't allow refills (boo!). They also have this thing where you can swipe your card and get as much or as little as like 7 different beers as you want, which was cool. The food was good. Solid barbecue, and more than just one or two things to choose from. I like this place and would totally recommend this restaurant. With all due respect to places that serve Kailua pork, it's good to find some good barbecue on this island. read more

Me and my good high school friends went here just try it out since its near where we live. We went around 7pm and the line wasn't too bad, we just waited around 5-10 minutes, the environment was kind of noisy so make sure you can speak up to the workers so they don't mess up your order. I ordered the 3 plate meal and I chose: ($15.25) *Beef brisket *Pork Ribs *Jalapeno Cheddar Kielbasa Sides: *Mac and cheese *Creamy spinach *Big yellow cup of any drink ($2.50 extra and I got the sweet tea) And my friends ordered the westerner sandwiches since they weren't as much of a piggy eater as me. I honestly say the meats were super delicious and juicy but kind of bummed there was no rice (ugh, Asian struggles lol) the only thing I wasn't too keen of was that the meats were a bit too salty for me. But thankfully they have a sweet sauce to help neutralize the taste :) They have other meat sauce options like spicy and original. I didn't get to try the others since I fell in love with the sauce too quickly and I feel bad I didn't give the others a chance lol. Most definitely will come back! Went for a quick dinner at the Kapolei location. Bought the 3 meat plate at $22.49. Got chicken breast, ribs and wings. Kinda pricey for the amount of food! 1 dry chicken breast, 2 pieces of plain ribs(not fall off the bones) and coleslaw and a scoop of rice! Should be 2 scoops of rice at least. Coleslaw tastes good! Kinda like fresh KFC slaw. Went home and opened up my $22.49 plate plus $4 tip plate and realize I didn't get my wings. I called and the apologized and said I could come back, and they would give me more wings. Drove all the way back and went in the restaurant. And the girl knew who I was and went straight to the fryer and pack my wings and gave me an extra slaw for the inconvenience. I said thank you! Got home and open the wings up to my dismay. They were burnt and hard to eat. SMH not sure of what's going on and if I'll ever go back. Price and quality not so good! I didn't even want to call back that night to mention it. read more

And there are choices to how you can have these. By a plate, sandwich or stacks, and tacos. If you want to he a carnivore, you can order in half pound increments. Kiddy meals are also available several starting at $5.50. Desserts didnt look interesting. Sodas, with the tea, are unlimited. Catering is available and best to order online. You can place regular orders online to avoid the lines. In the condiment area you can fill up in your drinks and stack up on onions, pickles and bbq sauces. Regular, Sweet or Spicy. On Sunday, kids eat free. Now, that's a deal. Three large tables can seat 4, and six tables for 2 is all they have. You can rearrange a little for larger groups. Coming in today, Tuesday night at 5:30pm may not have been the right time. Nine ppl are in line. They don't seem happy but continue to stay in queue. They are holding their position quietly with minimum movement. On the otherside of the counter.... chaos. One guy seems to be training the staff but doesn't seem to be the mgr. Orders are getting taken but they don't seem to be familiar with the menu. Customers are asking lots of questions. The line is moving at a creep. Kids love bbq and many are here raising the noise level high you can't even hear the Jukebox. They are sold out of their baked potato, their mac and cheese, onion tanglers and their turkey meat. They are looking to hire. Apply online. All I ordered was 1/2lb pulled pork and 1/2lb brisket. Service is friendly and super courteous. They did ask me 4 times what did I order? That ordeal took about 59 min. All I needed to do was get the condiments to go with this and I be gone. However, they were out of containers, onions, pickles. I did ask for those at the counter and the girl gave them to me packed with what I wanted. However, they were both very dry with no flavor or taste. It was disappointing that the time spent getting an order was for naught. Maybe as this business makes corrections in the early days of their recent opening, the service and food quality can greatly improve. read more

Slow service. Green beans were soggy and did not taste good. The ribs were too salty. On the other hand the okra was good. I wanted a bottled water they don't sell bottled water. I asked for a medium cup of ice water and they were going to charge me 3 bucks so I got a small water that they had no lid for. The place is smaller than I expected, but I want to talk about my order. My wife ordered a one meat choice (ribs), she received two pieces of ribs. I ordered a two meat choice (sausage and rib) and I only received ONE RIB and some sausage. I asked them why I only get one piece of rib, they said they go by weight. If you look at my photo, the ribs are same size, if my wife get two pieces of ribs, why am I getting only one piece? I don't think I am going back. What do you think? When you order two or three choice with rib, did you get only one rib? (My initial review as only two stars ) *** Follow up*** Right after I posted the review, the owner Danny reach out to me and we discussed about it. Danny is very nice, and he explained to me that the one meat choice is 6 oz, two meats choice is 3.7 oz. each. That explains why I may have less rib in my plate, but Danny do feel the one rib that they gave may not be enough and he will give me some free ribs next time when I visit. If the person at the restaurant explain to me that there is a weight difference between the one and two choice meat plate, I will have a better idea at that time. Anyway, to me, the important thing is the owner take time to make sure they take care and explain to the customers. We love the taste of their ribs. Tons of free parking, generous portions, moist and flavorful meat. But wow this place is slow. By the time I got my food I had literally been there for 45 minutes. No joke. The people were perfectly pleasant and it was clear to me that they were going at their absolute fastest. No lengthy chit chat, no wasted motions. They just haven't gotten it streamlined yet. I ordered the chicken sandwich, which came with 2 sides. I got mac and cheese and waffles fries. Ooh the waffle fries were good. Flavorful with just the right amount of crispyness and still so hot! The mac and cheese seemed a little watery. Definitely not a bad flavor, but not that buh bam buttery cheesiness you expect from a southern bbq place at ALL. We make better mac and cheese at home, unfortunately. The chicken itself was very moist, and just the right amount of seasoning. It was a little bit too much bread for me, so I just took off the top bun. Daughter 1 had a 1 meat platter with mac and cheese and baked potato casserole. Ok, before you get excited about a baked potato casserole, let me just say it tastes like mashed up potato salad, complete with relish. And it is cold. It didn't taste bad, but it was very unexpected. Her brisket was moist but a bit undersalted. Daughter 2 ordered 3 chicken tacos and a side of mac and cheese. The tacos were nothing to write home about in that it was comprised of bbq chicken (so moist!) sliced cheddar, and street taco sized flour tortillas. It isn't a Mexican place, so don't expect all the accoutrements that go with a taco. But you CAN expect some darn good meat! It's very small inside - seats maybe 20 inside, and 4 tables of 4-8 outside. For the 3 of us it was in the area of $38. Not bad price wise. But honestly I might wait until they get it together a little bit. read more
