This was an order I placed on DoorDash. I ordered ribs with sweet barbecue sauce and the okra and beans. They didn't put any sauce in the order so they were dry and lacked flavor. When I called to get help they basically told me "it happens with DoorDash orders". One would think if that's true they'd be extra sure to check the order before it goes out. Terrible customer service and no offer to make it right. The ribs were dry, the okra was oversalted and the green beans with bacon had no bacon in them and were waaaaaaaay too peppery (and I like pepper a lot). Spend your money with someone who cares. After leaving the review I got this message from Yelp. Looks like the negative reviews are the only ones you can trust. They are apparently writing their own "positive" reviews. Compared to the BBQ establishment I went on Friday, Dickey's BBQ pit was a different level. There was nothing wrong with the food but it did not knock my socks off. I had the pulled pork sandwich meal which comes with a side. The sandwich was okay--and with their BbQ sauce it was better but just average. Likewise my side of potato salad was average---nothing wrong but it's not anything I said to myself that I need to return for their pulled pork sandwich or their potato salad. On the other hand I was on the road when I visited Dickeys and their service---both the nice lady who took my order and the young man who processed my order were polite and friendly---plus they got out my order fast so that's a plus. Also, Dickeys says you can have free ice cream---there's a soft serve ice cream machine--and but for I was on the road , I would have sample that. The dining room was clean and quiet but this was before noon Sunday so there's nothing wrong with the ambiance and indoor dining. read more

I know that there are many more BBQ spots here in Mississippi, but none that come close to Dickies in the Meridian area. I have yet to taste another BBQ sauce that compares to Dickies. The thing about the sauces... I normally (regardless of geographical location) prefer spicy BBQ sauces, but only at this place do I prefer the original flavor. It's so good!!! It had a kick that makes you forget you need spice. The best part I think is that the amount of sauce is left up to you to determine. It's an awesome concept that other establishments should consider. They make it fresh every batch so even though it's a different batch the flavor might change, but so far it's been unnoticeable. Really good still! The variety of meats are perfect! The sides??? Holy crap! Yeah so in all my life of eating BBQ I've never seen the side of Baked potato casserole. Well Dickies has it and it's the best potato ever!!! It's pretty much mashed potatoes but it has a unique and amazing taste, that you know it's not mashed potatoes. Really good! Now, the Jalapeño Beans. They taste like BBQ Baked Beans only they have Been cooked with jalapeños! Do I like these? Um yes!!! I asked the meat server (they have stations for entree, sides, and register) which is better and she said I eat the jalapeño beans everyday... And she was this cute white woman. I'm yes please. Make my side some jalapeño beans!!! All day. So I know Mississippi is known for their sweet tea. I also know that Mississippi is this worst health state on the United States and I'm starting to believe this sweet tea is the freaking cause. It's so sweet, but so good!! Delicious BBQ! The food was reasonably priced, the line cook was helpful, and the cashier looked scrumptious. My sister and I both had the big BBQ pulled pork sandwich, with a buttered bun and spicy BBQ sauce. The meat was flavorful and tender. I had the baked potato casserole (which was basically mashed potatoes on crack) and the green beans with bacon (though I found no bacon); and she had the baked beans (with pulled pork) and the cole slaw (which could have been better). The sweet tea required a refill and they have free ice cream! We didn't leave room and had to pass on that. The only downside was an army of flies that tried to get our food. They failed. read more

Disappointing visit! We were traveling to Meridian from another state and had a taste for some authentic barbecue. We ordered two pulled pork plates with onion tanglers, baked beans and fries. The sandwiches had no smoke flavor at all and had the taste of a pork roast cooked in a crock pot. No flavor whatsoever! The onion tanglers were very salty, the beans very average like they came directly from the can. The only positive thing was the customer service. The young men behind the counter were patient and friendly. That is why I give Dickey's two stars. Please do not advertise "pit" barbecue if your product is not that. My BBQ sauce smelt like lighter fluid. It was so strong I almost fell out of my chair. The pork was so dry it may as well have been pork jerky. But man the sauce was terrible. I could have sworn I was being poisoned. Not to mentioned being sick for 2 days after eating it. My child enjoyed her kids plate. But that doesn't say much. She eats anything. Road trippin to Texas we stopped here to eat bbq! It was sooooo good! Adam was so nice, helping us figure out what to eat - we chose brisket, chicken, and ribs! Yummy! Stopped by otw to the in laws, they were out of the menu item we ordered (smoked turkey ) and of all things bread?? Also we weren't able to get fries because they turned off the fryer in anticipation of closing in an hour. We were going to cancel our order and head to the Chili's next door, but didn't . That was a mistake! Staff was smoking and joking on the haphazardly placed tables directly in front of the restaurant, once called inside were loud and oblivious of the customers trying to eat with their families. I heard this was a franchise, its sad that the owner entrusted his investment to folks that lacked the basic professionalism to run it. I ordered a two meat plate, Jalapeño Sausage and Beef Brisket. The meat was cold and had very little flavor. The rolls we hard and burnt on the bottom. The okra was good but the portion size was a 1/4 of what you get from other Dickey's restaurants. The ice cream, just stay away from it unless you like soup cream. The bathrooms are what I would expect to find in a dive bar. The staff was friendly with the exception of the man cutting the meat. Find another restaurant to eat at. read more

With no gloves, no hand washing, and a cup she handled with bare hands and threw right back into the bucket. First time going to a Dickey's BBQ. I would say it was mediocre BBQ. I got the 3 meat platter (chicken breast, ribs, and jalapeno sausage). I thought the chicken was dry and kinda tasted like something you get in one of those Oscar Meyer smoked chicken packs. There were only 2 ribs and they were also kinda dry. I thought the sausage was the best of the three meats, but the cheese was not fully melted and was semi cold. Like I said it was mediocre. My sides were baked beans which were also mediocre and okra which was nice and fresh, but only because they had to cook it and bring it to the table. The rolls are Sister Schubert rolls from the store. Now after knocking them, I did like their BBQ sauce, especially the spicy one and I thought it was neat that they had soft serve ice cream cones to go as you walked out the door. read more

I had the smoked turkey, husband had the chicken breast, both with 2 sides. Mine was to be a baked potato but it was soooo over cooked, it was dark brown. 2nd one wasn't any better. Not impressed with Dickey's. I love barbecue chicken. They only have chicken breast. No pulled chicken or chicken on the bone. At 7:30 on a Monday they were already out of chicken so I did not get to try. I ordered the pulled pork, potato salad and beans. The pork was not hot at all, about room temperature. The bun that came with the meal was warmer than the pork. The pork tasted ok, but nothing special. The beans were half beans and half pulled pork. It looked like a lot of the fatty pork pieces were added to the beans. The potato salad was like mashed potatoes with chucks of potatoes. Probably the worst potato salad I ever had. The sauce was very watery and bland. I prefer a thicker sauce with some kick. Overall, not impressed and will not go back. read more

1st time at this location : meridian ,miss. In April 2016, for dinner , ordered barbecue pork , mac & cheese , and fried okra. Place was very dirty and had some hard pieces in the barbecue pork. The staff was not so friendly either , and didn't look interested in working. Also bad problem with the flies, dirty floors, lots of tables with trash left on them and the floor. Disgusting flying bugs when trying to eat. Gross ! Ps. Very old table covers with holes, old tables & chairs & floors , needs update & big cleaning. Thought maybe they fixed it or changed ?? We all had the pulled pork and it was very good and tender. Sauces are served warm and on the side. Waffle fries are yummy. Slaw and mac and cheese are average.
