Highly organized and highly attentive employees especially on Black Friday. The place was super busy but they had plenty of registers open and lots of employees around to assist. Love the price match guarantee as my son is constantly checking out the sites for baseball equipment. Today we got a Wilson A2000 for 125 thanks to the price match. Also we got a deal in some Marucci equipment bags for $19 and the original price was $59 ! Yeaup this mommy knows how to find a bargain. And last but certainly not least we got a Marucci Cat7 for $150 for a $100 dollar savings. We had to argue this one a bit but in the end price match guarantee won. read more

Poor customer service x1000. Came to look at bikes for our family and didn't realize curbside pickup was my only option because so many other businesses and stores are operating with restrictions due to COVID. I pulled up to the front door and parked in a spot reserved for curbside pickup. No other patrons were there. I was confused so I waved at a short female employee with dark hair and tattoos inside the door. She ignored me and walked off. Then another taller skinnier girl with a black and white checkered mask came up to the door. I waved to get her attention and she opened the door. I asked if they were in fact only doing curbside and she said, "yes" as if I was bothering her. I was kind of waiting for her to explain why they weren't letting people in or if there was some other way inside. She stood there and didn't say anything else and stared at me like 'what do you want lady?' So I spoke up and I asked her why then would they be closed? And she said, "Because there's a pandemic?" with an attitude like it was so obvious. I said to her, "That's true, but there's also a lot of places that are open for business." And then she points to the business next to Dick's and says, "Well THEY'RE not open." Just plain rude. I'm not sure she understands that her job is dependent on the company continuing to draw revenue through in-store sales. I'm not about to make a purchase on any expensive Sportinggoods or gear without checking it out in person myself. My husband is in the military and we have to move every 3 years because the federal government tells us to. Sometimes when you arrive in a place like California where you can ride your bike all the time and you don't have a bike you start to really need one! Her attitude is just not the way you speak to someone coming to your store to do business there. It's wasn't unreasonable for me to ask why the store was closed. I was simply looking for a solution, but this girl was clearly not interested in being a professional. She seemed VERY annoyed I would even bother her to open the door much less talk to me. I will never take my business here nor will anyone in our family. If they are doing curbside pickup, and the parking lot is empty, and there are only two employees present then that would lead me to deduce that there is probably not much work keeping them busy enough that neither one of them could take 60 seconds to answer some really basic operational related questions. read more

I like the selection of sports represented by this very large store. Customer service can be hit and miss - but the quantity of stuff to look at is really good. And I love that there is a treadmill in the shoe area - and a white board that lists upcoming races. As far as the layout of the store - I think it's tops. read more

Went for golf shopping and Michelle and Thomas were more than fantastic, they went way beyond customer service to ensure I found my product and got the right shaft for a club refitting. They were so special I couldn't believe it, and they are the type of young people that give us hope for the future. First time I came here I wasn't greeted, and never had anyone offer any help but thought I'd give them another shot. Went in the other day to get a new pair of trail running shoes, I was greeted right away and directed to where the running shoes are( even though it's obvious) and there was someone there waiting to help me out. Guy had a lot of knowledge, most people at stores like these just point and say "that's a good one" haha wrong. But Michael I believe was his was really helpful and knew his stuff. Staff needs to improve guest service. We walked in 15 minutes before they closed knowing exactly what we wanted. The staff said, "hi, we close in 12 minutes" and then continued with whatever they were doing... we didn't feel welcomed from the beginning. They could've offered to direct us to the correct department, but didn't. As we're struggling to find the correct shoe (the website said that it was in stock at this location) someone near us was folding clothes and didn't bother to offer help nor acknowledge our presence. Finally it's about 5 minutes until the store closed and we just couldn't find the shoe. I go over to the gentleman near us and asked if he could help us, instead he radios someone else to come and help us. USELESS! I was irritated that he couldn't stop folding clothes to just help us for a few seconds. This review is getting 2 stars because the staff member who did come to help us was really nice and tried to help, but the website was wrong and the shoe model just wasn't available at this location. On our way out the door, the same lady who "greeted" us said, "oh you guys are leaving?".... we really weren't sure how to respond to that. We were tempted to say, "yeah, isn't that what you wanted from the beginning?", instead we just said good night. Granted we were here in the last 15 minutes of the day, but if guest service stops between 9pm and 930pm, then you might as well close at 9pm. read more

I called in this afternoon looking to buy a Nike Fuelband but was told by Anthony that they were to be discontinued due to the fact that they had been messing up people's phones and computers! I'm so glad I was informed this or else I would have ended up giving a pretty crappy gift! He ended up recommending the Fitbit for me! I drove there and Brett showed me all the Fitbit products and answered all my questions and concerns :) Ended up walking out with the most expensive one but I believe it was definitely worth the money! I went in last week to purchase a new pair of running shoes. The man was very nice and highly suggested a brand that was different from what I was wearing to help protect my knee. Well after 4 days, my knee and back were hurting very bad. I was told by the store and customer service I could not return the shoes, because I wore them. How else was I supposed to know they were the wrong shoe for me. All I wanted was to exchange for the brand I was wearing. I've never had a store not make an exchange when something was wrong. My family and I decided we wanted to really get into camping now that our son is older. We went on our first camp trip this past weekend and loved it. We are trying to plan a few more this year and decided the two Cots we bought from Dicks ($49 each) didn't really work out. My husbands neck hurt and my back was hurting from sleeping on them. We decided to try and return them or even exchange them for the nicer cots they had ($100 ones) but they would NOT accept them in used condition. They were used for 2 nights. They wouldn't even exchange them for the nicer ones. I was shocked. I decided to call REI and REI has a policy to accept ANY returns after a year as long as you have the receipt or are a member - used or new condition. So disappointed in this place. I went to the savvy Ranch Yorba Linda Anaheim's dicks and a girl by the name of Taylor not only was extremely rude when it came to coupons which any mom will tell you we live off of with a big family especially if you have a family with medical problems which I do. I don't get how they can call themselves a sports store as there's nothing sports about it and the sales people are about as helpful as herpes on Tuesday. You would think with Sports Chalet going out of business that Dicks would pick up some of the actual "sporting" gear that Sports Chalet used to have but clearly they are clueless. I have had negative experiences at this store before and had decided not to go back, but I got a gift card so I thought I would try again. The employees I met were super helpful, answered my questions and when they didn't have one of my items in stock, found it online. When one item wasn't in their inventory system at all, the employee found it at a competitor nearby so I could get it for my dad in time for Fathers day. I was so impressed by how well I was treated that I found a reason to buy something else. One employee took my experience from a single star to three. Hopefully next time I can get to five, but I am encouraged by the changes in staff attitude. I will be back. read more

The five stars are ONLY for Tony at the register! Not for any managers who couldn't be bothered to help with managerial codes for the check out people. Went in to simply return a hat that was a little to small thinking it would be quick and easy, but my teller needed manager codes for returns (totally understandable). Poor Tony tried his best to get ahold of a manager with no help. One manger walked in from her break and couldn't be bothered to help poor Tony. While I was standing right there she walked in and when Tony simply asked her to clock in ASAP, she continued to talk on her phone and said to him "you'll be fine." They are the worse store. When I returned the shoes, they did not refund my money. They gave me a gift card. I carried that gift for 6 months and decided to buy something. I went online and purchased using my gift card. I realized I made a mistake. I called back to the operator. She canceled my order. When I asked her what happened to my gift card balance, she said I have already used it on my previous canceled order. The gift card balance is zero. I have to call the company on Monday.
