I bought a 10X10 pop up shade tent on a Saturday and was happy to only spend $49.99. My mistake, the item was cheep for a reason. I took it back on Monday to replace it with the $79.99 or $99.99 dollar tent, which both seem to have better functionality. The associate said no to the return or exchange and the shift manager Ryan would not speak to me. I avoided making any kind of scene, but calmly said "Keep it" and left the tent at the store register. If anyone wants it, go get it. It's crap, and the service is worse. I'll find what I need at Costco, REI, Huntington Surf and Sport, Target, Footlocker, Nike, Macy's, Nordstrom, LuluLemon, Play it Again Sports, Amazon, eBay, or Eastbay. I miss Sports Chalet! I'm not surprised this store has such a bad rating. I waited over 20 minutes for someone, anyone to come by and help (even after asking an "off-the-clock" store employee). Finally found someone that appeared to look like a supervisor (can't tell because no one wears a company shirt or uniform), but they offered me a lame excuse that since it was they holidays, they were slammed. Where to start... oh Dicks sporting goods I will NEVER purchase from you again. My problem wasn't really in store but there isn't anywhere online to leave a review. I received a pair of cycling shoes for Xmas from dicks... they were way to small so I went into the store to exchange. They were completely under staffed and one girl was just snickering in the corner with her headset on (weird). I got the attention of a sales associate that was very kind and a hard worker. Of course they don't carry cycling shoes in store... which I'm very confused by so I had to order online through the sales associate. She gave me 2 day free shipping for my troubles (very nice- but there was a coupon available I couldn't use on her computer for some reason.. I figured the expedited shipping was worth it) WRONG! Not only did I over pay but the order wouldn't come until OVER A WEEK LATER! I called to get a refund within 12 hours of my purchase it they REFUSED!! I even spoke to a manger! What a joke! Has anyone heard of customer service?!?! I bought a pair of football cleats at this location. They hurt my son's feet badly after wearing them for 2 days. I brought them back. I was never told during the purchase that Dick's policy is to only offer store credit for worn shoes. So I asked the cashier, Danielle, if I could speak to the manager she said she was the manager. I then asked for her district manager's name and phone number. She then said the store manager's card is by the exit. I called the store manager. He said this one time they will refund my purchase. I was very appreciate. He said to go back into the store to the lady who helped me. She repeated 3 times that they do not refund shoe purchases. I get that. She then called the manager, who said he would call her and let her know to give me a refund. Then she credited me on a visa even though I bought it with debit. She was very condescending. I tried to call the store manager again. Danielle answered the phone. I told her my refund was processed as a visa purchase not a debit. She then said come back in and I'll give you cash. Why couldn't she just be thorough and not make me call the manager twice and especially not be condescending. It is highly unlikely I will shop here again. read more

This particular location has below average customer service. The chain in general has limited selection and elevated prices - serviceable if you need something in a pinch, but otherwise use Amazon. I went to this location to revamp my workout wardrobe. I picked out a bunch of different "maybes," but then needed to try them on. Good luck with that! Up to 10 min wait to have someone unlock the dressing room; and if you need another size, you must hunt/gather for yourself, then go to the ends of the earth to track down another employee to let you back into the dressing room. I'm not sure the point, because they pay no attention to what you bring into the dressing room, and they do not observe you leaving the dressing room. It's just this weird, delayed, unlocking ritual. Thankfully, one customer's 7 year old son thought it was was fun to climb under the dressing room doors to let folks in - otherwise there would have been no way to try anything on without waiting forever. At only point I tried to leave the door slightly ajar while I grabbed a different size (with nothing but my own clothing still in the dressing room and no customers in line) - only to have this fresh out of high school employee rudely scold me for not locking myself out. He then promptly wondered off, leaving no employees to unlock the dressing room. (Actually I could still see him - he just wasn't that interested in helping.) Thankfully, the 7 year old was still around to unlock the doors. Generally, Dicks is great if - you need an item (swim goggles, golf club, running shoes, etc.), - you're not picky (ANY swim goggle, golf club, running shoes, etc. will do), and - you need it on short notice (i.e., do not have time to shop around or order on Amazon for much cheaper - you need tomorrow.) - you don't need assistance finding what you need. read more

You've got a 4 star facade but a 1 star in customer service at the footwear department, Dick. I came here twice and it was the same experience. The shoes...no love on the shoe department! I stood around for 20 mins hoping for help from a salesperson. Sure, not your fault...these things are situational. How about a few customer service tools? Here are some of my favorites: Hi, how may I help you? Finding everything ok? Need a size of that shoe? (Or at the least) Doin' alright? Therefore, I conclude this place deserves a 2 star. I get it, you're a chain. You're like a Target. Have the uniform shirted kids run around and do your ant colony work. As long as the products are faced and fronted or whatever term you use to make the merchandise attractive on the rack. Would it kill you to tell your part-time college kids to ask if they can assist, even moreso beat a customer to the service punch from time to time? Yes, an associate humored me eventually. He answered a question, eventually...and even said if I needed anything to ask. EVENTUALLY. Meh, moment's passed. Like the seks, when a kid walks in on his parents from waking up to a bad dream. I know, I sound like a diva. A Perrier drinking, complaining prima Donna. But guess what? If I'm a diva, Dick's is a poser...putting a few hundred dollar shoes with custom insoles and a Nike Fuelband on a person doesn't make a person a great athlete, good training does. Catch my drift? Training preparedness = establishment? Tell you who your saving grace was, a young lady named Cece (I think). I left the shoe department, and did a bit of wandering since I was left with service blue balls. She came out of nowhere, really. Very modern layout with a great selection of equipment and apparel for pretty much any sport you could need something for! I've always loved Dick's since it began in Binghamton, NY, right next to where my father grew up in Endicott and Vestal in the Lower Tier. I remember when the original Dick's super store opened in Vestal in the early 90's, and how the chain then extended to Pennsylvania, Delaware and beyond. Now this newest one, conveniently located across from Bella Terra on Edinger, has it all, except one thing holding it back. The customer service. The great holiday special I received was dampened when I went to pick it up and it took two people a good 10 minutes to bring my item up from the back. Handed them a paper with the item and order # on it and they almost interrogated me. I eventually facetiously joked asking if I was "at the right Dick's" to which the cashier was not amused. Came in to check out the Grand Opening after work. Its shiny and new, store displays and layout is nice and roomy, making me want to buy something! Decent selection of most everything for weekend warriors. But contrary to the first two reviewers, the sales reps seemed to ignore me. Not all, just the greeter, gun guy and the reps roaming the store. Weird vibe. Like "this ain't no Sports Authority here" attitude. Whatever. I came in today, to get my son ready for baseball season. The whole time that I'm here I have 3 employees following us around. "Stocking, Looking at inventory" pretending to be on their phone starting at us, one thing is asking if we are okay and giving us the customer service, but lady you asked us on 6 different occasions. Firstly we didn't walk in with questions because I have played sports my entire life my husband has too and my son has been playing since he was able too. I know what I came in for and if I said no I meant no. Why ask 6 times?! This was them making my family feel uncomfortable shopping. Every time my son popped out of the fitting room someone would have to walk by and peep their head around and look at what was still in our cart. I understand today's circumstances are not good, but sir I Mexican AMERICAN. I SPENT $300 on my son base ball equipment at your store; proudly too. They had a big selection for every type of sport. Thats all I'l say positive. Customer service, none. Looking at mountain bikes, and not knowing enough about them, I expected I'd find some info about them. Yeah, the guy in the bike dept sure wasnt interested in helping me. I did specifically ask him is he the person I would talk to about bikes. Which he confirmed. Asked him a specific question, to which I got a answer I even laughed at a little. I asked, which would be good starter up bikes. His response was "Ummm... they are all good starter up bikes". Dicks is a pretty standard sports store that's comparable to your Big 5, Sports Chalet, or even your REI. I recently came here to buy a fitness mat and got a decent real on it (29$). As a sporting goods store, Dicks will have probably everything you will need. The service is decent, prices are okay, and quality is there. As an east coaster, I love Dicks Sporting Goods. It's what I grew up with! This store certainly is nice and shiny and new, typical of Dicks start ups. I'm a little surprised at how small it is, but I suppose you can chalk that up to the price of California real-estate. That said, one of the best parts of the east coast stores is that their managers play close attention to local sports scene and provide the gear that people want. Now maybe this store sold out during their Grand Opening, but it's nearly impossible to find non-Lakers NBA gear (you know that other team LA has, the Clippers?), there's very little Dodgers selection, they have NO selection for professional soccer (FYI Dicks is a major sponsor of Major League Soccer and HB is a soccer hot spot) and they have nothing from the small local D1 schools (CSULB, Irvine and Fullerton). It's quite strange really with the huge banners of US soccer stars hanging in the store, but no gear related to it. Meanwhile this store has a HUGE selection of ski and snowboard parkas. Can they really sell that much ski-gear in SoCal? Maybe the store manager just hasn't gotten a good feel for the market yet? I say that because I've seen quite a bit better local selection at other LA area stores. It just seems way off from what I was used to at Dicks Sporting Goods growing up. read more

Dick's Sporting Goods does have a large selection of products, but their customer service sucks. I ordered a set of golf clubs and the staff told me it comes with a dozen free golf balls. We ordered online, and when the product arrived at my place, the golf balls were nowhere to be found. I called their toll free number 4 times within a month. They keep telling me they would call me back within 2 business days. Bullshit! They never got back to me and ignore my request. I will never buy anything from Dick's again. We went to dicks sporting goods on Sunday to inquire about getting a softball glove steamed. Unfortunately since we had used the glove already we were advised that steaming would possibly cause damage to the leather. However that's when we were referred to Brian whome offered to "beat" the glove..which today is done with a mallet. While he was doing that we shopped around an Brian came to find us to see if we were satisfied with the glove,glove, we were.. we also ended up purchasing another smaller glove an also requested to have that one steamed ,which Brian did . Somehow, this is the only Dick's Sporting Goods in my "area" that has a fishing section. So my boyfriend and I came here specifically to check it out. While they had a nice assortment of fishing merchandise, we didn't have a nice experience here. The employees basically don't believe in delivering good customer service. We spent about thirty minutes browsing the entire store and were only spoken to once upon entering the store. We were passed by and stared at by many employees, but they didn't offer to assist us or help us find anything or even greet us. I guess they couldn't be bothered...so we couldn't be bothered to spend out money there and we left. A couple of days later, my boyfriend saw a fishing rod online that he wanted. I called this store to see if they had it in stock. Long story short, I was on hold for fifteen minutes and spoke to a dingbat in the fishing department who could only tell me that they "don't have it in stock and its hard to say when they will be getting it." So you can't request one? You can't order them since the store is out of them? What a waste of time. I'm just fed up with their bad customer service and it sucks that this is the only Dick's near me that has a fishing section. I won't be driving out of my way to come here again. Ever since, I started playing golf two weeks ago because of my client. I started coming here more often now. This has become my favorite place now to shop for sporting goods especially golf shopping. And now I am addicted to golf! With it's spacious store and has lots of different sporting departments more so than other stores . I love the layout this place and location. Plenty of convenience parking spaces. I haven't been to other location, but do they have lots of golf products to choose from. They even have a pro golfer in this particular department that can answer all your questions. Very cool! The staff are very friendly and helpful. The main problem about this place is they don't really have a back stock. So whenever you ask an associate that if they have this certain item, its almost automatically that they will say they don't have in stock but explain the item online for free shipping. Remember that there are people who needs items right away and cant wait longer. The shoes is I believe the worst. I went in the store for shoes three times in a row and they never have the right style, and/or size. The worst size to find in the store are 13's. Size 13 is the highest average people wear so they need to purchase more size 13 in majority of shoes. Build a back stock so people can get what they need. Forget the online crap which requires a waiting time for shipment. So far I believe you are losing customers and I am possibly the next customer to close the doors on you. read more

Just as I was snooping through some workout clothing a male associate walked right by, looked me square in the eye and just kept walking! This happened to me twice with this "worker". I saw multiple staff talking to each other while every customer just stood there with their thumbs up their *expletive*. Just got back from Dick's in Huntington Beach. We went in looking to buy some high quality binoculars, and we stood around the gun area for 12-15 minutes and not one staff member came to assist us. We pushed the little assistance button in our area, twice, and still nothing. We saw several employees putting away and straightening stock, but not one asked us if we needed help, even after they saw us there! On our way out, the floor manager asked us if we found everything we were looking for and we told him we hadn't, that we had waited for help and no one even acknowledged we were in the store, and guess what he said? Went to test out some new Callaway clubs. There was no one in the golf section and the gc2 was on so i went ahead and started testing. Then a worker comes running in saying that i got him in trouble for testing out the clubs without supervision. Really? I didnt know a 34 yr man needed adult supervision from someone younger than he. On top of that I hear the manager on the radio saying to charge me $20 for using the hitting bay? At that point i decided to leave. Ill take my business to the pga superstore where you arent charged for testing clubs. There were a ton of employees but no one to help. Definitely never coming to this location again. read more

Nicely stocked well organized store in the Bella Terra area behind Citibank. Find someplace else to shoo. Poor review due Managers ego. Went in for kids size 9 soccer cleats. I had gone to two other stores first but they did not have the any size 9. So i was happy when i found a pair here. They were not in their original box which did not bother me. But when i was checking out and the clerk checked to make sure i had matching sizes i noticed the cleat teeth looked dirty. Upon closer inspection it was clear they had been used. They were not just dirty but the tread was worn down. So i asked for some sort of discount and the manager was called over. Without looking at the shoes he offered me 10% off and said, "our carpet is really dirty they were just worn around the store." I told him, "they are obviously used and would like a better discount." Its debatable whether they are used but what discount do you want?" I said, "20%" he replied with, "15%". I walked out and found them elsewhere. read more

This is my go to place for sporting equipment and clothes. They have a huge selection of clothing. I get my workout clothes here as I've found the prices to be comparable but have a few more choices than other sporting good chains. The staff there is friendly, but you have to ask for help. They won't come up to you and ask, but they are accommodating when you do ask them a question. I've been to the Ladera Ranch and Tustin Marketplace locations and I like this one better because of the size and staff. Some other places might be cheaper but do a real comparison on the brands and styles and I think they are pretty close to the same price, but again it comes down to the selection options for me. read more

I want to update my review because I had an excellent customer experience today due to a well trained, knowledgeable, and outstanding helpful attitude from a store associate. I came in to buy one item and left with 5 items due to the guidance from Chase, (who has been working there 4 years) who ran all around the store with me explaining the pros and cons, demonstrating, and showcasing products that I needed and some products I was not aware they carried. Great Selection. I have been to many locations and I have shopped at this one probably a dozen times and have always had great friendly service. The prices are good, the return policy if needed is not hassle and they send you coupons to your email all the time if you sign up for them. I love when they clearance something out because they do ridiculous price slashing on things. I January I was going to Colorado and thought I should get me a nice winter coat, I got this $200.00 Jacket marked down to under fifty bucks and they even honored a coupon I had sent to my email. Ya it was last years style but I saved great obey on a jacket I just needed for the week, and guess what I am going back to Colorado in Jan again and will be using the same jacket again. read more
