Okay so Dicks is a huge store, but some departments are really lacking in women's gear. They didn't have women's hiking shoes until a few months ago and they don't carry women's hiking backpacks or sleeping bags. Cycling gear for women is lacking as well. They just aren't as great of a store for women as they are for men, it is really frustrating. I guess they are fine for the casual exerciser but when it comes to gear for female athletes the selection is small. read more

Had to pick up a pair of shoes for a fitness class so I figured to go to a store that has a lot of options. Not only did they have plenty of options, but the person who helped me was very well versed in sizing and figuring out what shoe would be best for my fitness needs. Customer service could not have been better in my opinion. It was only about 25 minutes for me to get in and get out and leave confident with my purchase. When coming here for shoes, I do recommend this spot as they have a large stock of differing athletic shoes. I also recommend this place for other sporting good equipment! read more

After waiting 1/2 an hour for someone to help us with the treadmills, we ended up buying the floor model treadmill, without an additional discount. But right after we purchased it, everyone disappeared. We had to take the treadmill apart ourselves and rolled it right out to the parking lot. If you want a do-it-yourself sporting goods store with awful customer service, the worst of which came from the manager himself, this is your place! Came in for a lightweight jacket and a backpack. Small selection of backpacks which seems odd given the time of year. Jacket selection slim as well, very one note and pricey. Also no floaters on the floor to ask questions/directions. Floor plan a little confusing as well. read more

We were shopping for snow sport gear and they have almost everything you need from head to toe!!! Price is a bit high but you don't want to keep shopping/driving/searching around. Great customer service at this Dicks. I used to come here all the time for work out gear and especially snowboarding gear back when it was still Chicks. Though some things have changed, still feels like a Chicks to me. The staff is really nice and helpful too. They used to have some specials (ie. buy $300 worth of merchandise and get a $100 gift card to use later on in the year) but those days are gone... maybe because of the economy, but for the most part... A friend and I made a trip to look for water bottles. Low and behold, they said that they didn't have the ones we were looking for (steel and BPA free). =/ Other than that, they have a huge selection of fitness gear and sport gear. The store was clean and bright. Despite the fact that the store was almost empty and there were a few upper management employees just chatting, I had to track down an employee for help. Once I did, they were really helpful. They gave me some tips on how to use the up coming coupons with the sales. Parking: Huge Lot but they share it with a crap load of other very popular stores. I cannot think of a better store to shop in !they get you in and out quickly and so pleasantly in this store. they are kind, polite and helpful! this chain is so well run and I love ordering on-line as well because it comes when promised and is very hassle free. good tip-if they carry your team, get sports team merchandise and university gear via Dicks. It is much cheaper and also better quality in most instances. I just ordered a present for someone attending a big university and this jacket is better quality than what I saw at the student store. This morning I was looking for some Lakers' Championship gear on the website and I found the locker room T-Shirt available for in-store pick up in the Pasadena location. The website there was 3-Large and 1-Small available so of course I bought all 4. I was charged and money already got deducted from my bank account and I got an email saying for me to wait for a follow up email as to when it would be ready. 2 hours later, I realized I didn't get the follow up email yet so I went on the Dick's Sporting Goods Website and discussed with a "Live-chat" associate and they told me to wait another hour and go to the store and my order would be ready. Another hour goes by and before I leave I decided to call the Pasadena store just to make sure my order was ready. I spoke with a team member named Josh and asked to check if my order was ready. He asked for my name, put me on hold and then initially said he couldn't find the order. He asked for my name again and then he said "oh yeah, that order was cancelled because those shirts aren't actually in stock. You should have seen that in your email. I say, "I wasn't even notified this was cancelled. Before I get off the phone with you, let me check my bank account again because the money was removed from my account when I made the order earlier." And he goes "trust me, you're money wasn't touched because you need to physically get the items before they charge you." I let him know the money was taken out when I purchased the shirts 4 hours ago. He proceeded to change his story and said "yeah it's like when you use your card in a hotel, they put a hold on it and you get your money back in a few days. Get what I'm saying?" He tried to turn it around like it was so inconvenient for me to question what the hell just happened. I didn't even get the email saying my order was cancelled or if I could be directed to another store. I know I will (hopefully) get my money back at some point but this was such an inconvenience, plus I wanted to surprise my family with some Laker shirts. It would help a lot if the website was updated and NOT tell customers items are in-stock, ready for pick up, same day, when they really aren't. What a headache. Stopped by to pick up a pair of soccer cleats for my daughter. The selection wasn't that great. They were low in stock because of the start of soccer season. We weren't offered any help and the staff was hard to find. Overall, the store is clean and organized. Check out was easy and the cashier was nice. Worst customer service, horrible selection, disinterested sales people. I was looking for a reasonably priced kayak and though I had found one. It was only available at Dick's Sporting Goods. I had never been there, but I thought I might give it a chance. I called every store within a 50 mile radius to see if they had the kayak in stock. No dice. I was told after holding for 20 minutes that I could come in and special order it. I went to the Pasadena location and after waiting for a salesperson I was advised that they would look and see if they were able to order it. HUH? Why wouldn't they be able to order their own stock? It turns out that they couldn't order it. Then basically they threw up their hands and basically said, "Oh well." Now I don't know about Dick's but most places do not want a customer leaving unhappy. These people could have cared less. I asked if I could order it online. "Yes", they said, "but you have to pay the shipping." "So how much is the shipping on my $158 kayak?" The answer: $190.00!!! I asked for the manger and was told I was speaking to the manager. I simply couldn't believe that guy was the manager. No wonder the store was practically empty with cashiers just shooting the breeze. I asked if there we any comparable kayaks and they didn't seem to know. They just pointed at the kayaks. Isn't it their jobs to now their stock and be knowledgeable about it. They didn't know squat about kayaks. This place is basically for clothes I believe. I got my kayak on Craisglist with paddle and like jacket for less. I went to both Bass Pro Shops and REI the next day. These people knew their stuff from personal experience. I bought deck rigging and a seat Bass Pro Shops and a lot of other stuff at REI. These places are tops. NEVER go to Dicks. read more

I now have a pair of expensive nike golf shoes that sit in my closet because dicks won't help, it's cool. I recently purchased a set of the new M2 Taylor Made golf clubs from Dicks in Pasadena. Scott in the pro Shop was awesome. We went through the process of fitting the clubs and he special ordered them for me. He followed up and let me know what was going on each step of the way. I can not say enough good things about the experience in the store and beyond!!! When the clubs arrived there were awful!! (note the 1 star review I gave Taylor made) I have never hit a worse set of irons in my 25 years of playing (mostly Taylor made clubs) golf. Taylor Made did nothing for me. They were condescending and rude. After some negotiation and running it up the chain of command this sporting goods store actually cared enough to make me happy!! I won't go into detail of what they did but lets just say I happily spent more money and was taken care of. They do know customer service. Thank you Dick's Sporting goods, and Thank you to Scott, his store manger, his shift manager and the district manager! You guys are awesome!!!! read more

Don't shop here unless you have a minimum of 40 minutes to spend waiting for assistance or standing in line.... 2 stars because it's close to my house... never been here without waiting in line of 7 people minimum with one checker. This is in connection with an online order, and the fact that I cannot write out a complaint from the website. Let's start off with customer service staff knowledge. **UPS SurePost is a subsidiary of UPS that transports packages to the USPS**. Please explain that to your supervisors. THREE supervisors in a 2.5 hour phone call yesterday did not know what it was. They were trying to locate my nearest SurePost....can employees that are trained supervisors be more ignorant to what their job entails?? They wanted to be helpful, but they couldn't because they didn't know what shipping terminology they were viewing or how to communicate it efficiently. I am grossly disappointed how Dicks Sporting trains their employees. My shipping address was entered wrong, I had to figure out where my package was on my own since supervisors in customer service were clueless. I ended up driving to 3 different USPS locations and wasted about 5 hours of my day. The last post office I drove to said they had the package but it had been sent back to Dicks. I ordered these cleats 3 weeks ago. The sad set back was my son could not practice due to his cleats not arriving on the said date Dicks initially emailed!!! I work in customer service and what I had to endure as a customer with time wasted simply because the staff could not connect the dots of a lost package and why my shipping address was entered incorrectly for more than 2 hours yesterday is unacceptable. I also entirely disagree with the fact that I cannot send a written complaint thru Dicks website. read more

Company culture is a real thing and at Dick's in Pasadena the culture is one of gloom and animosity. The employees there are dismissive when asked questions and act as if helping a customer is trouble. I should mention before you think it, YES I bend over backwards to be nice to retail employees because their job is hard. I get it they have to deal with people all day. That said, the behavior of the Dick's employees is doing a disservice to their company's reputation. Two tangible experiences: In shoes a young man was helping us and frankly showed disinterest, took his time and was generally unhelpful. When asking him product related questions his answer was keenly, "I dunno..." The second was the cashier experience. Terrible terrible terrible. The line moves very slow. OK I can deal with that but our cashier was completely curt with us for no reason. No, she doesn't have to be our friend but some common courtesy would be nice particularly since we were purchasing a lot. She didn't say hello, was discourteous overall and when I asked a question about a product she looked over at her co-worker and said something along the lines of "Oh my God. Evil." Really?! Evil for asking a question and buying products? Interesting note - there is a police officer stationed there now because at one point recently a customer got into a physical altercation with the manager. Given my experience I can understand why and solidly take the customer's side. I guess they are afraid of more customer altercations. I will never go to Dick's sporting goods in Pasadena again. read more

The store's return policy should prevent anyone from even walking into this place. No returns on boxed items if they are opened. No returns on Hydroflask or Yeti stuff if they are even slightly used. Their price matching policy is not really a price match per se as they only match some stores of their choosing. I will not be giving them my business as they will go the way of the other sporting goods stores in he future. Sad but true. read more

This place is a hell in customer service. Especially the Hispanic lady name "ROSA" who was cashier today was awfully rude. She never smiled throughout the transaction and threw the merchandise to the counter because we were exchanging merchadise. I was with my 3 kids and they were repeatedly whispering "she is mean she is mean". I often visited the store (first time met "ROSA") to buy my boys' baseball equipment and apparels because it's reliable chain store but the customer service experience from her was worse than the owner of outdoor swap meet. I made a official complain to her spervisor "SARAH" but it seemed like she was friend of "ROSA". I felt that she just wanted me to leave the store. I think the store management and employees are corrupted. The corporate office has to step up and should perform proper training on customer service. Otherwise, they are wasting their money for high rent and damaging their reputation. I have never seen more customers in the store than employees and I now know why. I got the regional manager's email address and the phone number to make official complain and I will update the response from corporate level. read more

I go here because it's one of the few places that I can get my racquet restrung. For a decent price. However, I was unable to leave my racquet because they already had five racquets in the queue. I am a tactile guy who prefers to shop in stores as opposed to online. It was very disappointing that not only did that not carry female lacrosse gear their men's lacrosse gear was much more expensive than Amazon. They also had a poor selection of cleats for girls. I will only go here in case of emergencies in the future. read more
