We came here to buy shoes for my husband. The shoe department was amazingly messy - stuff all over the floor that other people had dropped, random boxes stacked haphazardly. My husband tripped over some debris, and I saw someone else stumble over some dropped merchandise. We found shoes we wanted, but the boxes in the area had nothing to do with the shoes on display. A lot of the boxes held shoes that weren't even on display! I finally found the shoe box in another area. There was no assistance at all. They should have more mirrors. The checkout person was not friendly and did not thank us for the purchase. This is a new store, and it was so messy and disorganized. It's only going to get worse. Is there a manager? read more

Went into Dick's for the first time last week. They had an incredible selection of just about anything you could think to need sporting-goods wise. Our bad luck that they didn't have the one thing we needed most: a foot pump for our air mattress. However, the staff was around every corner offering help and assistance and we were able to find everything else we were looking for and the prices were pretty good. read more

My son and I purchased a baseball glove from an online store and we brought it into Dicks to have steamed. (Dicks, or any of the other local sporting goods store didn't have this particular glove in stock) After talking with a manager about why we're bringing in a glove purchased somewhere else, the manager got one of the sales reps to come over and take care of us. The manager was courteous, professional and definitely willing to help. The sales rep was all this and more! We had some time to waste while the steamer was brought up to temp so we got talking about baseball. This kid definitely knows what he was talking about. It's really refreshing to go into a bigger store like this and be helped by someone who has been passionate about the sport for years. We really appreciate the awesome service! read more

Today I had a really sour experience at this particular branch (Santa Rosa CA., Cleveland Ave) I went to this store to exchange an item that was defective, without questions the lady at the registers told me to get a new one and the will gladly will be able to do the exchange, transaction was smooth, then I saw "Yeti" ice chest near me and decided to look at them, I have been shopping one of these for quite a while but still have not found one with wheels, as I decided to go and check out the whole store, I found more "Yeti" coolers place in a shelf, to my surprise, they had one with wheels, I got excited and decided to look at it, wanted to see how big it was in the inside, by the way my birthday just passed and I thought that could potentially be my gift for this year, I knew this brand are very expensive and I was calculating that it would be more than $300, so I approached the shelve and try to pull the ice chest, an alarm goes off, I noticed then, the ice chest was attached by an alarm device that went off as soon as I try to pull it from the shelve, of course some customers looked at me, which in a way it made me very uncomfortable, but I understood that unfortunately nowadays, business have to protect their assets this way, anyway, in less than a minute an employee of the store came to me and a very annoying loud tone of voice she ask: "WHATS GOING ON" I looked at her and I said "really? Wouldn't you be asking if I need help in this case?" I found kind of silly that you are more concern about the the item instead of providing better customer service, she said well we have to protect these expensive items and avoid people stealing? Then she proceeded to get the keys to turn off the alarm, I waited for her to see give her another opportunity to apologize but to my surprise she looked irritated, then I try to close my case with a word of advice to her, I told her that if they are going to keep those items to the reach of customers with an alarm on, they should have a sign making people aware and ask for assistance, then I told her that hopefully they can evaluate their customer service and try to improve because that was not ok, she just came back at me saying, that is customer service, after that I knew she was not getting it, I just do one thing, don't ever come back to this branch, specially when they have employees working there that actually do honors to their name. read more

I'm not really into shopping at bright, expensive sport shops like Dick's. I can't figure out why they seem to think that people are happier shopping while listening to loud music. Now, I don't mind loud music, I am a bass player and good country and rock music is my thing, but that piped in loud crap they play only makes me want to get the hell out of there as soon as I can. I can also say this.. the guy that runs the fishing/firearms section should not be there. He comes across pushy, and really pushes his leftist agenda to a group of sportsmen that tend to believe in the rights of gun owners. I personally would never buy a firearm from Dick's as long as they have that "dick" working there. The opinion above is why on-line stores are doing so well these days. Must of been the reviewers children making a mess and blaming the store for unorganized business! They should get a self check on that bc I understand what retailers go through. It seems (Diane B. I came here a week and a half ago to get new knee braces. I have to wear them every day. There was an employee in the area where they were so I asked for help. He only would give me monosyllable answers. Not helpful at all. I had to pick them out by myself not really sure If i had the right size. I wore them out of the store in by the end of the day realized that they were too big. I called back to see if someone was there to help me today exchange them for the right size. They said because I had worn them that I could not exchange them. He said that there are ways in the store to make sure that they fit and do measurements and all that... I said that I tried to get help from an employee to find the right size but wasn't able to get the help. He basically let me know that that was too bad, that's their policy. I will never come here again!!! Now I need new knee braces but i don't have the money to buy them. read more

Hello Dick's Sporting Goods!- Purchased a pair of golf shoes from you on Friday, played golf on Friday and could only play 9 holes because my feet hurt so bad. Stopped back by on Saturday to the same store location where I purchased the golf shoes;with receipt and the same box, they would not accept the shoes back as a return. The manager said they were not new and he could not resell these as new golf shoes. He did say I could keep the shoes and he would give me a discount on a new pair. I went and viewed the return policy, I met the requirements, though they do have a last line that states: Please note DICK'S Sporting Goods may limit or decline some returns and exchanges. The golf department staff is terrible. Some little older gentleman with to much cologne was very overbearing. Without even seeing my swing he recommended I take lessons with him. He was more concerned with giving lessons to me then trying to help me decide what club to bye. Also unlike Golf Mart's 90 day return policy there is no return policy on clubs. read more

Dicks is good store, way better than sport authority where I used to go for everything really. Better prices and way better gear overall. The stuff is good but the store is totally uninviting with weird painting or decals on the doors its really strange. Lots of staff with ear pieces and wearing workout gear but no one really to help you find stuff. I don't know its basically a sporting goods warehouse really. The loyalty card is really nothing. They take it when u buy stuff but really never get you any deals. Sport authority coaches club gets you a coupon for cash value 4 times a year which was at least something. Waited all week to go meet Joe Panik only to find out at the door that you had to have gotten a wrist band earlier that morning and I was turned away. It was not found anywhere on the website or Facebook page that a wristband was need. Only found in VERY fine print at the bottom of an email I got. I will not be shopping there. I walked in to look for some new athletic shoes. I walked out 10 minutes later because the entire shoes department was a disaster. Shoes were all over the floor, out of the boxes and many of the display shoes were not priced. The metal foot measuring big things were a trip hazard. Wanting to try disc golf, I went to Dick's to get a disc. There was a wide array of options. However, no clerk in sight to advise me. In fact, the store seemed almost empty. I went to the cashier and asked if he could summon help. He picked up the internal phone and requested "if anyone knows about disc golf, please meet a customer there." I walked back to the disc display but apparently no clerk knew enough - or cared enough? - to appear. These arrogant, disrespectful , inexperienced associates do not even understand that although it is their job to do as instructed by the executive management, you should never convey this to your consumer. After brief but ridiculous bantering with my associate, I walked out however I needed those golf shoes! Si I walked back inside,picked up the shoes and requested to speak to the manager. The person called the manager on the phone and said "I have a customer with a box of shoes". Then she asked what this was in regard to? I insisted the presence of the manager "regardless of the nature of my issue". When the manager arrived we walked to the area where earlier was a sign reading CLEARANCE CLEARANCE 50% OFF above the shelf containing a dozen pairs of shoes, the sign I debated with the first person had been REMOVED. They decided to cease and desist their "bait and switch" merchandising tactics. Must have been my lucky day, I picked the one of twelve pairs of shoes under that sign that WAS NOT ON SALE, As I got additionally irate the manager refused service, that's right she said that because I had used "profanity" with the first associate, they were now refusing to sell me the shoes. This did not occur while I was wasting time debating the use of bait and switch with either, but now with nowhere else to go this Manager decides to accuse me of using profanity thus giving her ground to enforce the "we refuse the right to refuse" law. I was never inappropriate and made a conscious effort to keep my voice as low as possible and I never use profanity, I am a professional. When the first associate was asked to confirm the use of profanity, e claimed I called him a bastard. Truth of the matter was I schoold him as I actually sympathized him for being so ill equipped. He was armed alright but it's like giving a six year old pizza money and a .38 revolver, then leaving for the evening,,,, TRUTH BE TOLD, I asked him to reconsider what had just come out of his mouth, I suggested he go home write it down word for word and before you go to bed read it while looking in a mirror and remind yourself, I SAID THIS TO A PAYING CUSTOMER. As I walked away and strongly recommended that he return to school and stay there, I mumbled the word "BASTARDS" plural for the bastards who gave this 6 year old pizza money and a .38. Have had some great luck recently with Dick's Sporting Goods. Their holiday sales were fantastic and they offer better quality goods than the other local shop, Big 5. I have spent a lot of time in the hunting department lately, updating much of my gear and guns. While the gun section is often understaffed (the only reason for not giving 5 stars), the staff are generally very knowledgeable and helpful. They were great about honoring sale prices, even when they needed to special order a few items for me. They also did a great job of bore mounting a scope for me. They are definitely the best Sporting Goods store in the area. read more

Customer service is horrible! Had been in this store and looked at womens softball pants. The employee told me that they only carried the one brand in softball pants, yet as I looked further (about 4 feet away) low and behold there was another rack of womens softball pants in a different brand. I called the next day to ask them to hold a pair in a certain size for me to come pick up. On the phone, another employee said they do not carry that brand! I explained that I was there the night before, had my hands on them and I told him where the merchandise was located. He proceeded to argue with me and refused to look for them. He was adamant that they did not carry them in the store. The next day I made a return to this store and walked over to that department. Of course what I was looking for was right there on the display racks. Did I buy from them? No way! Come on Dicks, your employees need to know the merchandise and a few manners wouldn't hurt! read more

I went in to find some tank tops for yoga and the selection was sparse and overpriced. Nevertheless, I found 3 to try on and headed to the fitting room. There were 2 employees standing there, a younger guy and a woman in her 20s. Both ignored me and I was literally 2 feet away. Finally, the guy helped me but the woman basically acted like I didn't exist. Horrendous customer service. I tried on the 3 tops but was pissed at being treated that way so I left and went to sportmart instead. read more

My husband and I went to Dick ' Sporting Goods for the first time today to look for an exercise mat. You would think it would be easy. Very few of the mats had the price available either on the item or in front of the item. Finally found one with a price tag and the price was acceptable. We walked around the store and not once was there an employee asking if they could assist. I even spent some time trying on athletic shoes. We got to the checkout and there were five people in line and one checker on the phone and one going through sunglasses in a display case. It wasn't like there were a lot of people in the store. With other sports stores in Santa Rosa, I see no need to go there again. Sorry, Dick ' s but you need to work on your customer service if you want to compete in the area. read more

This store is consistently understaffed and I've had to walk all over the store to find help both times I was there. There are many items with no prices and I had to go from the back to the front register and get in line to get a price. When I did find help, the employees were great. read more

I hate writing bad reviews. But it was necessary for the store. It's too bad that I give the store one star because there is a lot of really nice things in dicks and has the potential of being a really good store. The customer service is downright awful. I went into inquire about a safe that they had on the floor, The manager came out and wanted to brush me off. Give me false information, then when they realize that they didn't have any of the safes available for purchase, he offered to sell me the one on the showroom floor, which was obviously broken. To top it off, the manager went to go check on the availability of another safe, and left me waiting for 10 minutes until I finally walked out and saw him ringing customers up. I am so happy that this place opened up in Santa Rosa. I play women's league basketball and this was the only place that had basketballs that were regulation women's basketballs. I am also pretty tall (5'10") and have always had trouble finding athletic clothing for a woman of my height. I always had to wear men's gear. This was the only store that had a huge selection of clothing for tall women! Thank You Dick's! read more

Went to Dick's to try on some running shoes. The selection of shoes they carry is awful. 4 aisles of Nike running shoes and maybe 1 aisle of Adidas, Under Armour, and Asics shoes total. I'll be going elsewhere to try on different brands and be buying elsewhere as well. read more
