Recently went to the Santa Rosa location and purchased several fishing poles. The funny thing is that the items were priced with price tags. When I went to the register I was charged significantly more then the price on the poles. The two women at the register were completely brain dead and unhelpful they couldn't even find the item in the system. The assistant manager came over and he found the item then walked away. The price was still $40 more then what the price tag said. The customer service here is terrible and the people who are hired here are to fill bodies that is it. I really do not like shopping here and wont from now on there are too many other better options. I had to go back the next day to have a price change because my second pole was charged $27 higher then what it should of been. The young woman at the register said that the prices in the system changed, well the prices on the racks and hangers need to be changed. There is no pride in this store at all. Also the prices are super over priced you can find the same things elsewhere for less so beware if you shop you aren't shopping hard enough. read more

I went in to buy some new shoes. The new system is completely not customer friendly. You have to scan in the shoes you want to look at the bring them out and walk away. I asked for a smaller size, the "salesperson" went back to get them and never came back. I walked out and will not be buying shoes there until you change how you sell shoes. I would give them a - 10 stars I purchased some shoes yesterday. I payed $100 cash and 47 on my credit card. Today I returned the shoes with my receipt. They refused to give me back my refund the way I payed. I was not told this when I payed nor was there a sign or any information on their return policy. The cashier said it was a new policy to keep people from using stolen credit cards. Seem to me they should have checked my ID when I made the purchase. The bad, they need more for that size store and the season. Merchandise is plentiful and there are variety of sizes! I went to Dick's this morning to buy some Hoka men's shoes this morning around 1120am. There were very few people in the store, which I was hoping for. I went to the shoe department and nobody was there, no customers or employees. I looked around the area and could see no one. I finally saw what appeared to be a scanner and it said to scan a shoe and select a size and someone would bring it out. I waited about 4 minutes and three other customers showed up as a group. I then left the department and found an employee and ask for assistance. They went into the back and then returned to their department without at least letting me know that someone would be out to assist me. A few more minutes went by and an employee came out and handed me my shoes, never asking if I needed anything further she went over to the three gentlemen and started helping them. I waited as there was a pause in her assisting the other customers and asked for a wider size, as I have feet like a platypus and needed some wider shoes. She went into the back and came back out with another pair of shoes for the three guys and disappeared again. After a few more minutes, it was evident I would not be getting help in the foreseeable future and I left. I shopped in the mall next door and came back an hour later around 1240pm and had Great customer service from two employees in the shoe department. Neither was the first individual who assisted me initially. Unfortunately, they did not have my size in stock and ordered a pair online from Hoka directly. I would have liked to have known that earlier. I gave three stars as my second experience was great with customer service, the first experience was half a star. read more

The posters about racism when you walk in immediately ruined my mood. You think people wanna be reminded of racism when they walk in so they can feel bad while they shop? And then you go to try on clothes and again more posters reminding you of racism again, so you're sad now trying on clothes? You may as well put up posters about how you don't tolerate child abuse to and really get everyone's minds focused on negative stuff that wouldn't have crossed their mind otherwise, while trying on clothing. Had my eye on two particular items that were limited in stock on several locations near me. It was either take advantage of free holiday shipping or roll dice and find a store. Given that holiday shipping is just plain terrible. I didn't find that option appealing at all. Walked immediately to fish and guns department and found two items I needed. First, Winchester Ammo Boxes. Second, Plano Sportsman Medium Storage Trunks. These items aren't special at all, but surprisingly difficult to get a hold of at their other stores. With no hesitation, the clerk behind the counter grabbed a ladder and took down the last two of the Plano trunks that were shelved way out of reach. That's what you call customer service! Among all Dick's Sporting Good stores, I've found this one to have the best inventory. It is also well organized. It was just easy to find items. I had an intuitive experience. This store seems to be going downhill. There seems to be less and less product on the floor. Every time I go in to look for something, as simple as a shirt, selection is limited. Same goes for shoes. I had to go to Dick's twice this week. I needed a new pair of sneakers. Amazingly i found a pair in my size, but I had a question. Nobody was working in the shoe department. I went to ring the bell for service and nobody showed up. It took over five minutes for a person to show up. There were other people waiting as well. Not good. The following day I went to check out a replacement golf club. I looked online and saw they had one I was looking at in stock. I found the club, but wanted to hit it to make sure it's what I wanted. The club had a security lock on it that needed to be removed. I also needed entrance into the room to hit the club (sign said no entrance w/o staff). Nobody was to be found...anywhere (once again). I left without a purchase. It's a shame. This store was on top of things when they first opened. Now it's just a disappointment. read more

It was not as disorganized like many of the reviews said it would be. I wouldn't even say "disorganized". I would go somewhere along the lines of overstocked or something that would convey the sheer volume of things in this store. It is massive and has a lot of product. I went in and bought a kayak, life jacket, paddle, and ratchet tie downs. It ended up costing me in the $450- $500 but if you bought a more expensive kayak you could easily go higher. Staff wasn't super knowledgeable about their products but there is a lot of inventory to get to know. My main complaint would be there aren't price tags on the majority of the items. I love this store! They always seem to have what we need. Shoes for growing teens, camping gear, football and baseball equipment, ammo, pellet guns, winter gear, golf balls, Yeti stuff. Seriously, I have been many times and they always hook me up. The staff is always nice, helpful, and courteous. I also will order online for store pickup at times, just to make sure they have my stuff... I live an hour away, so, it would be bad if they were out if stock. Today, nobody knew what a stretch exercise band was. One employee just blankly stared at me. Another asked if it was for women and the third asked if I wanted leggings. When I finally found the stretch resistant bands there was no price on any of the packages. After some time I found a gentleman to help me. He scanned one item and when I asked for a price on a second item he waived me on and scurried out of sight. I went to Big 5. I just had a terrible experience here on a lazy Sunday. The place wasn't very busy, yet finding anyone to get help was next to impossible. The selections seem to be dwindling - items seen on mannequins must be hiding on invisible racks in special hiding places. The final straw for this place happened while checking out. An item I was trying to purchase did not have their barcode on it for some reason. The cashier told me to run back and get another one. I asked if he call page someone on the floor to fetch it. Glad to have this mega-corp move into Santa Rosa. Why? Dick's sells better quality merchandise than Big 5 sporting, which was the anemic purveyor of crappy quality merchandise here in town. I'm a golfer. Dick's carries premium brands of golf balls. Sometimes the sale prices are the lowest to be found anywhere. A few months ago I pulled some ligaments in my right knee, painful! I came here to buy an elastic brace. There were 10 different models on the rack. Wow, sensory & selection overload. I did get the best suited one. My knee got better in a few weeks with the help of the brace. Be aware that many items (especially clothing, shoes) are tagged with manufacturer's list prices which are usually ridiculously high. Twice I've had the misfortune to find myself in this store. The unhelpful and even rude staff are roped only by how difficult it is to find things you are looking for. On my recent visit I made two complete circuits of the store looking for help. I finally resorted to asking a cashier if they could direct me to compression shirts. After what seemed forever starring into the blank face and slack jaw, I was told they probably didn't carry those. I needed a bat for my granddaughter. We had done our research and found the ideal bat for her. We drove to our local Dicks store in Santa Rosa prepared to pay almost $500 dollars. There was only one other family in the entire store . They bats were all secured and locked up and required assistance from the store. We approached a young female employee who said she would call for help and get someone over to us to unlock the bats and answer our questions. After waiting 20 minutes my family and I found the young employee and two fellow employees laughing and talking together in the front of the store. I asked her what happened to the help we were supposed to get with the bats. Two of the employees scattered and the young woman said she forgot. I would rather give my hard earned money to someone that cares about service. read more

I have been to this location various times to shop for sweat pants, exercise equipment, and even shoes. This review is for the guy at the bike shop. I came here a few months back to shop for a bike to surprise my boyfriend with. He helped me narrow down my choices based on what he likes to do (ride around town, hiking) and even helped me access my vehicle (I have a small car) to make sure that I can fit the bike home. He did all the bike checks before he help load the bike in. Great customer service from start to finish on his part but can't say that it's like that for the whole store. I went to look at shoes and no one acknowledged me. I went back with my boyfriend the following week to look for helmets and there was nobody to assist. Customer service on the floor is sparse. Better do your research in advance and come prepared to help yourself because getting help is tough. read more
