I dropped into Dick's to purchase a few things - an Adidas duffel bag, a pair of basketball shoes, and a pair of sandals. I had just left Famous Footwear after having a somewhat bad experience, and can say that Dick's didn't do any better. I walked around for around 10 minutes, and I couldn't find a single associate anywhere. I saw one (named Jon) who was the only person that I could see helping anyone, and waited for him to finish with his customer. He was very polite and nice, and I asked him about Dick's pricematch policy. He said that they don't match Amazon (which I expected), but that they do match other sports stores (that have an actual store). So I checked online, and the duffel I wanted to purchase was $15 cheaper at Champs Sports. I asked him if they could pricematch, and he asked whoever he had to ask (on his walkie-talkie thing) and the person on the other end said no. I just looked up Dick's policy, and they absolutely SHOULD pricematch Champs, because they are a local competitor (which is what they claim to match). This is my second bad experience here. A few months ago I came in to exchange my Fitbit because it was having some problems - it was dying within 24 hours of use (even though it should last a week). The associate gave me a tough time trying to exchange and said that I couldn't do it because I had "activated" it. Of course I had activated it. How else would I have known that there is a problem with it? So what did I do on this occasion? Walked out and purchased the Duffel bag on Amazon and just kept the sandals I bought from Famous Footwear. As for the basketball shoes, Foot Locker or Sports Authority will be getting my business instead. read more

Waiting in line to check out along with several other people (no issue there). When it became my turn to check out walked up to the cashier as the other the other customer was leaving. The cashier rudely informed me that I wasn't CALLED to come up yet, and check out. 2nd time with an issue at this store. Definitely need customer service training. read more

They need more associates on the sales floor. Everytime I come here, I have to walk the entire store just to try and find someone for assistance. My friend purchased a brand new bike. The bike was misassembled at this location, which he didn't realize until it broke when he took it out for the very first time. This location refused to exchange or return the bike. We were stumped. What to do? I called corporate Dick's to one of the worst customer service experiences I've ever had. I asked that I please be transferred to another rep, and the person just went silent. The person told me they were "terminating" my call and hung up on me. I was very polite but I have a voice that sounds very young and I felt he was speaking to me accordingly. This probably a bad location, but I have to say that corporate Dick's is pretty terrible too. The other reviewers didn't have much luck apparently, but I walked in to Dick's on accident (construction mayhem and I missed the turn to REI, not that it was the best place for me to go anyhow for what i needed). I figure it's for the best - as I was just looking for some 'indoor' soccer shoes for a rec league (tennis shoes just ain't cuttin' it) and wanted something cheap (the Big 5 by me in Lake Forest was a useless waste of time and had 3 employees just standing around talking that never offered to help). I passed Sports Authority (again, i wasn't on the right side of the street) and figured I'd go there next if Dick's didn't work out. I walk in, I'm greeted and asked if I needed direction, i didn't. I walk straight back to footwear (giant sign), i check out a few aisles then find the clearance aisle where POOF the shoes i had tried on at Sports Chalet (retail 44.99) were there, in my size, for 1/2 off ($22.48). I grabbed them and started to head out, when another associate confirms i got what i needed and added any feedback/thoughts on the matter (was very nice). I head to the checkout where there were 2 or 3 open lanes, checkout was fast and friendly. I was impressed - great price, great customer service - and I'll be back. I visited to look at treadmills. They had a few on display, but none were connected in order to try out. There were no employees in sight, so I just looked at the machines they had and tried to see if they felt sturdy or not. I will not be back due to the lack of attention and service. I ended up buying a treadmill at California Home Fitness (where I actually got to try it out and got great service) and will be looking forward to getting my treadmill. read more

Don't even waste your time coming here. They rarely have anything good in stock and the store overall is a mess. What's worse is the customer service. It's dead. Don't expect to be greeted or assisted by anyone. I had a terrible experience with a cashier named Alexander who just dropped my change all over the stand and floor. He didn't even put in the small effort of just gently passing the change at a reasonable height. I can't see how people say Dick's is better than Chick's. No pun intended. Chick's had great clothing on top of a complete selection of sporting goods. The snowboarding section was so much better at Chick's. The bottom line is that the prices are higher at Dick's, which makes no sense, since Dick's owned Chick's even in it's existence. And of course nothing beat the annual tent sale in August, that I assume will no longer occur. Frankly, with the clothing section being so diminished, a tent sale would be useless. read more

Big store, filled with lots of stuff. Employees were few and far between BUT the one I interacted with was very nice and knowledgeable. I went in looking for soccer socks and went directly to the soccer section. I hunted around the 2 aisle area for a good 5 minutes. No soccer socks. I saw them online, and you sell shin guards soooo why don't you sell soccer socks. I ask the above employee where the socks are. Guess where they keep soccer socks... Not in the soccer section. But back where the shoes are. WHAT? I get you want to put socks all in one location, but really...soccer socks? There were baseball socks in the baseball section. Volleyball socks in the volleyball section. Why not the soccer socks? I was really confused. But I got my socks and was out of there in about 10 minutes. read more

At Chick's, you could find a great selection of shoes and sporting goods along with great clothes and fan gear to look fly while you're on your way to partake in said sporting even that you bought gear for. The new Dick's store's a nightmare. Everything's disorganized. They don't seem to have anything I need and is a poor excuse for a fan shop. Disappointing golf offerings. And swim wear/jackets/clothes? Forget it. I know they're remodeling but it's been over a year since they've opened as Dick's. Big. Big big. Big big big. Did I mention big? Yes, it's biiiiig. I haven't been here in a while (okay, it's been about a year) and I guess they remodeled. It looks really clean and organized. Each department is clearly sectioned off. Even the golf department looked like it had its own lobby, which almost sucked in my hubby. Well, no time for distractions as we were here to find a bike for our 8yo. We were greeted by an employee or two when we entered, and easily found our way to the bike section in the back. As we were looking, another employee came by to see if we needed help. My my, this place is full of willingly helpful staff. We didn't need help yet, but when we did, he was ready to answer questions. Helpful indeed. Although my 8yo didn't find the bike that she wanted, I did notice that the prices for bikes were a bit cheaper than at Sports Authority and Sports Chalet. We also checked Performance Bike Shop next door (where she found a potential bike), and Sand Canyon Cyclery (which didn't carry kiddie bikes). Our search for a kiddie bike continues, but I'd probably come back here for any outdoor activity needs. read more

I'm really a golf nut, so I spend 99% of my $ at Roger Dunn...however, I needed new walking shoes, so off to Dick's. Yes, it is 'self serve' and they don't have a HUGE array of types of shoes. I bought a pair of $99 shoes, after walking a little bit (really, not too much help from the kid, but he was pleasant, just not into helping an older gal with shoes). After my 4 mile walk the next day, they KILLED my feet. I called the store right away, and the manager was super nice and said no problem with a return, even if I had walked in them. Yeah! Went back the next day, found another pair of shoes (with the help of my darling husband who happens to run marathons, so he knows shoes), much less expensive...picked up a few golf things and still had a refund to cover lunch...the best part? Absolutely no problem at all with the return - just a nice young gal, wiling to help with a big smile. Customer service is not dead at Dick's - made me very happy! read more

On top of the fact that the cashier, Nathan J. I believe was more interested in talking to his co-worker while we were waiting and had to just walk up to him to get checked out, their advertising is false. The sign above the clearance specifically showed a green sticker with "40% off lowest marked price" which should mean 40% off the lowest marked price. However, when I get to Nathan, he mentions silver stickers, which there were NONE of anywhere on those racks or signs. So either the management needs to correct their signs or Nathan is too lazy to do his job anyway. (He gave total attitude at the fact that I decided to pass on those items) Disappointing. read more

I needed to refill a CO2 tank and a Google search told me that this location filled CO2 tanks. I called to verify, and the guy I talked to said that they do. Once I arrived at the store, I had to make 2 laps around the store before I found an employee. Once I did, I was told that they don't fill CO2 tanks. Never had the best of service but today truly took the cake. Last football playoff game being played so I figured store would be quiet, which it was. Needed some running shoes. Went to the back. One sales person saw me and went to the back. Found what I was looking for by myself. Finally saw a sales person and asked if they had the show in my size. He scanned it said NO! Went there looking for youth soccer items however they had a low selection and the worse customer service I have ever experienced. The lack of knowledge and helpfulness was absurd. My husband and I were looking for guidance as to which would be the best in size and performance for cleats and the attendant didn't even acknowledge us standing 2 feet away from us. When he finally did ask if we needed any help and we said yes he didn't offer any. He didn't know what the smallest size they carried, nor offered to measure our child or any guidance for a first timer. Maybe that was our mistake in thinking a person in the shoe department would know something about what they are selling. Really want to like this store, however, purchased 2 items of clothing online and when returned to store on 2 separate occasions to exchange items for proper size they keep trying to give me less than value purchased with receipt. Ultimately both times worked-out with managements help but their computer system is set up to price to customers disadvantage. So be careful not to get short changed by Dick's! read more

This was my first time at this Dick's location and it pretty much sucked. We went in looking for a tandem bike, but like most places, they didn't have any. Not a problem, so we spent about an hour shopping, looking at clothes, etc and I found a few shirts, some shorts and a dress that I wanted to buy. We head to the check out, and there is one person working and two people in line in front of us. We wait, patiently, and the line builds up behind us, so the guy tells everyone about another line across the way. Everyone from behind us, quickly fills up that line, so we continue to wait, patiently...but to be honest, my patience was wearing down as like 15 minutes had passed and we were still in line. The final guy in front of us is checking out, and the cashier reminds him of a promotion and the customer said he's not interested. The cashier keeps pushing the guy towards the promotion and tells him how he can re-ring up the stuff, to save him money and finally convinces the guy to to it. Uhhhhh, I wouldn't have minded, but at this point we had been waiting twenty minutes and were wanting to get out of there. The cashier has just added 5 more minutes to our wait, without even considering us; I'm sorry, but that's very rude in my book. Meanwhile, people keep filling up the other line, and we pretty much can wait for the customer to fill out the frequent buyer card, the cashier can ring up two different transcactions and all of that stuff, or we can leave; we left, without buying anything. Weird, when we were looking at clothes, they were on top of us at all times, but once we decided what we wanted, we were completely ignored. It sucks, because I keep thinking about how much I really wanted those clothes, but I'm not going to sit around and be blatently disregarded for 20 minutes, so that I can give this place my money. read more

Visited Dick's SG at Tustin Market Place this morning on 07/17/19 and I'm never going back again!! I went in to buy some exercise and competitive swimming items that I've been wanting. I've been shopping with Dick's SG for years now and I even have their store card. Today, I asked an associate (Julia) to help me with my purchase. She was very friendly and patient with me. She went above and beyond to help me grab my items. During my visit at this location, I noticed a pair of Nike shorts on the mannequin there. I asked the associate and she told me that was the last pair in that color and they didn't have any more of those. She tried looking up the product online and she said that they were sold out online as well. However she said that she'd be able to take them off of the mannequin, if I really wanted them. She grabbed me a pair of black ones of the same shorts in large to make sure that it was the right size for me. All the shorts in that section were marked for 35 dollars and both associates insured me that they all were the same model with the same price including those on the mannequin. I ended up deciding to take them after waiting for a while and helping both of the associates (Julia and Rose) to physically get them off the mannequin. They, again, insured me that they were the same price, as I wasn't able to see the tags since the shorts were on the mannequin. After a while we finally got them off and I go to check out with cashier (Jonathan). At the end of my transaction he told me that they were for 80 dollars which is more than twice the price I was told. He openly seemed very annoyed with me complaining about the inconsistency of the knowledge of products between the associated and he got his manager involved per my request. Manager (Ryan) was extremely unfriendly and unprofessional. While admitting that it was the store's mistake and they'd wasted 45 minutes of my time, he made no effort to address the problem. He left it up to his cashier to help me and walked away. He didn't follow up with what i was initially told which resulted in me having to leave the items that i really wanted there. As I am doing this survey, I am on the phone to cancel my card with this store and I'd never go back to this unprofessional environment again. Dick's SG needs to reorient his managers and put them through basic customer service training again. Playing professional college sports, my teammates and I come to this location a lot. But that is going to stop now and that's a shame. read more

Came here to buy some sneakers for my son. No one came up to help us the entire time. When I attempted to try and some shorts, the dressing room was totally filled with some other person's clothing. The staff member didn't even ask me whether or not I needed any help with sizes and never asked me whether or not the shorts fit after I left the dressing room. Overall, a poor experience. Every time I come here it's the same. They don't have enough employees and they don't pay attention to their customers needs or interests. read more

I bought a Sole Treadmill F63 from Dicks in August 18 on sale that normally sells for $1,800. In July of 2021 the circuit board went out. Lucky for me it was under warranty and Sole sent me a replacement circuit board that I had to install myself. Last week my Treadmill suddenly stopped again while I was using it. There is power to the Treadmill but the display panel doesn't work. Not sure what the issue is. Most Treadmills should last 8 - 10 years under normal use and maintenance. I called Sole and since my Treadmill is no longer under warranty they could do very little to help me. A technician is between $135 - $150 to come out to see what the issue is. Parts are extra too. So, when buying a Treadmill at Dick's, I would recommend you stay away from Sole Treadmills. Matter of fact you should stay away from all Sole Exercise Equipment since you might have similar issues that I have had ..... read more

This store is awesome! Yesterday, I stopped by this Dick's Sporting Goods store to look at some insoles recommended to me by my podiatristl. She specifically told me to go to Dick's to get fitted and find out my shoe size, so I did. When we first walked in, I asked where I could find the insoles. An employee told me the would be located in the back of the store with the footwear. Shortly after we made it to this section, an employee arrived. I asked him about the insoles my podiatrist recommended. I also asked him to measure my feet so I could find out my actual shoe size as my podiatrist thought my shoes were too big. He measured my feet so we could know which inserts to try. He got both sizes for me. As I was trying on the insoles, he was providing me with information on how the insoles should feel. He also gave me information on the warranty for these insoles. After trying on the insoles, I asked him about an online coupon I saw for $10 off $50 for online orders. Initially he said I could place the order online and they would fill it while we were there. I thought this was awesome and thanked him. I mentioned that I would have to find some socks or something because the insoles were $49.99 and I had to spend at least $50 to use the coupon. We continued to look at footwear. He then approached me to tell me that he spoke to the manager and they would just give me the $10 off in store so I didn't have to go through the hassle of ordering online and waiting. I was pleasantly surprised and thanked him. We ended up purchasing the insoles along with a pair of sneakers. This was one of the best shopping experiences I've had in a long time! Jeez, where do I start? I've been here 100 times so this isn't based off of just one review. I really didn't want to do this, but sh*t. The freaking older guy who works at the golf section is totally lazy and won't give any answers nor will he be pleasant. I finally stopped going here 1-2 years ago when they built the Golfsmith (which is equally unpleasant) and Roger Dunn (Santa Ana, the best golf store ever) but I walked in because I was down the street and wanted to see what they had for deals on balls as they are usually pretty good. But that guy was hiding behind his desk, NEVER let's anybody use the stalls. They need a younger person who is engaging to work there. Anyway, for the rest of the store, it's ok. People usually don't bother you, but when u ask questions some people know. I bought a few non golf items here on occasion. You can find better deals if you search online. read more
