First time at the Evolv store since they moved from the old location to Tustin. The retail area is quite a bit bigger and they have a large systems board with an adjustable angle so I assume you can try out the shoes before you buy them. They also have bins of old demo shoes and seconds for $45 per pair, so that is a great bargain if you can find what you need. They also have a small selection of diverse gear including cams and draws, so there is another option to pick up toys to fill in your rack. Finally, Yosemite Bum resole is there as well, and they can resole your worn climbing shoes with Evolv or Vibram rubber, no Stealth though. read more

They also have a room that has specifically demo shoes that are on sare on sale. Arrange between 35 to $55 dollars.They are final sail though. Store wasn't too hard to find. It's in an industrial building section and it's located towards the end of the road. Found myself some climbing shoes for $45! The ones that have been used as demos or used in general are $35, and they had a couple closeout shoes for $15. Dig through the bins that are sorted by size to find shoes. There are very few pairs, so you'll likely be buying mismatched shoes. Eh, no one's gonna be looking at my shoes when I'm climbing anyways so I'm happy with my purchase! Lots of tiny sizes (who wears size 4?!) and not much selection once you get past 8.5 size. They also sell some newer shoes in pairs starting at $65-$80 price range & also sell all their shoes at retail price in pairs. The lady at the cashier was nice and answered my questions. Make sure to let her know about the check-in promo before she rings you up cuz they she'll have to add everything up again using the old-school calculator. I'm excited to start climbing more now!!! If you are a more experienced climber. Your selection might be more limited. For myself I was able to find older model of the Pontas and the Predator both for $60 buckaroos. It just happens they are closed from 12:30 - 1:30pm exactly my lunch hour. The person I spoke to on the phone asked her supervisor if I could come during their lunch hour and her supervisor said it was ok. My lucky day! I asked if they had shoes in my size and she mentioned they had some of the ones they sell to the gym. Great place to go if you're a newbie and want to get your hands on some cheap climbing shoes. You can get some factory ones for $45 and demos for $35. You just have to search in the bins for your size and for pairs because they're all separated and not in any kind of order. They also sell new shoes here too for decent price. I got a pair of Defy VTR for $55 which was pretty nice. Friendly staff (the girl that was working helped me look through the bins!) and they have like a mini wall that you can test the shoes out in if you want too. Monday afternoon- picked up my shoes and the soles basically look brand new :) I tried them out at the climbing gym that night, and I was pleasantly surprised that they were loosened just a tad in the toe area. Now they feel even better than before, as there is no longer too much pressure on certain areas of my feet/toes. my shoes- La Sportiva Miura VS (to point out, they will resole any climbing shoes and not just Evolv brand). this pair of shoes has been used roughly twice a week for a year. Great, friendly, speedy service. Service cost was $45 (they completed a half sole and rands on both shoes) They also have the option to ship, but i opted to brave the traffic instead. Though if I ever need another resole in the future, I'll call to inquire about the shipping cost. read more

Rock climbing gear isn't cheap, especially for a kid who is still growing. Last year, I found this place on Yelp when looking for decently priced rock climbing shoes and bought a a pair of women's Elektra for $45 (found in discount bin)! Now that they're getting tight on my kid, here we are again. This is located in an industrial/business neighborhood near the cul-de-sac on Eighth street. The store is inside their office, and their warehouse is attached to it. The store is basically a small office room converted into a retail store, and looks to be closed for most of the time until a customer comes in and rings the bell. There are shoes in the discount bins, sorted by size, that are slightly off (cosmetic defects, samples, etc.) as well as select new shoes on sale on the opposite shelves. All staff who helped us before and this trip were very knowledgeable and always checked the fit and feel of my kid's shoes to make sure they're the right fit. There's also a wall to practice on to make sure the shoes are comfortable when in use. Unfortunately, we couldn't find shoes in her size that were on sale, so ended up having to pay regular price for a pair of men's Raptors ($99) this time - the guy said men's climbing shoes are made wider than women's, which my kid liked better since she has wide feet...I dunno much about climbing so if it's comfortable for my kid, then that's what we're going with. The downside for purchasing from this outlet is that all purchases are final sale, so I always have to triple check with my kid (Is this the one you want, are you sure this is the one you want, better make sure this is the one you want) and do a quick visual inspection before going to the cash register. Also, they are only open during the weekdays (Monday-Friday, 9:30a-4:30p) so if my kid needs another pair of shoes again, she'd have to wait until her next school break. read more

Deals on cosmetic seconds or lightly used demo shoes. Better prices than I have ever seen for slightly imperfect climbing shoes and approach shoes. $25 for aggressive downturn shoes in my size 11.5. Probably $150+ at REI. Small climbing wall for testing. They seem pretty incompetent in the office though. I had some shoes resoled and gave them my credit card number over the phone. Went fine. They then charged my card again for $240 the next month and reversed the charge. They did not understand why this happened but recognized their error when I called. They reversed the charge but something is wrong with their billing. They told me they would call me back with more info but have not. Check the shoes in person, and pay cash here!! I don't recommend using credit and DEFINITELY not debit. read more

Came here on a recommendation from a friend and so glad I did. Prices of the 2nds (cosmetic defects) saves you about $100 on the shoes. Other gear is priced the same anywhere else but the shoes are the best deal. The true reason for the 5 star rating is the service, Chason helped and took the time to make sure it was the right fit. He is very knowledgeable and takes the time to make sure that the shoes fit properly now so there are no issues down the road. Also it's great that he also climbs so he knows what to look out for. Customer service would mark down to three stars since from the minute I stepped in the building I was never even given a greeting or any type of acknowledgement. Give four stars for just the savings. 45 bucks for new climbing beginner type of shoe. They had Sharma's shoe for 70 but I believe it was the first edition or so, not the newer prototype. Still a reasonable price The employee at the desk seemed unenthusiastic and bored just tinkering on the computer and only talked to me once I had my hands full with merchandise. Got myself a bucket, chalk, shoes, and bouldering brush. 82 bucks. Would I come back? Meh, we shall see. Depending if I NEED to purchase a more aggressive shoe as I progress with my climbing. May try Mad Rock instead. Also this place has super strange operating hours, so check out with the website first prior to visitng. You seriously can't beat that price (and sure the $45 ones are factory-def or second, but the pair I got seems clean enough for me). I would give 10 stars if I could. I love Evolv shoes, and I always send my resoles back to Evolv's resole company Yosemite Bum. Recently I called them to see if it would be possible to fix some torn straps on a couple of pairs of Evolv shoes. They did the repairs, along with the resoles, and revitalized two pairs of shoes that would have otherwise been retired. The customer service was excellent, and the work they did was as well. If you are lucky enough to be in the area, when they are open, then make sure you stop by! Check their website to see when they are open. They fit a good deal of stuff in their little retail store. The best deal is their climbing shoes!! Killer prices on them! They offer demo models, factory seconds, close out models, and, if you want to spend it, full price models. Demo's are the ones that have been lightly used by people in climbing gyms and events. Factory seconds have some small blemish or cosmetic defect that makes them imperfect. You usually can't even see the defect and it doesn't change performance. I picked up a pair of Shamans for only $35!! They have bins that they regularly restock with demos and seconds. They also sell clothes, crash pads, chalk bags, and other gear. The best deal is definitely on their shoes! The people that work there are also really cool! What other climbing gear store can you drink a beer and buy some sick rock climbing shoes at... Awesome! :) Btw... Charlie D's review is from years ago... With shoes this cheap, you really can't go wrong. I picked up a pair of laced and strapped primes for $90, a purchase which should have been over $200 Full retail. The defects on these shoes are purely cosmetic and do not negatively affect climbing. Overall, the store is awesome and the staff is helpful if you have any questions. read more
