Went there yesterday for opening weekend of "Pumpkinfest". Not crowded, but I'm sure it will be come October. Kinda like a scaled-down country fair complete with kiddie carnival rides, baked goods, and animals. Corn maze definitely worth checking out. The apple cider donuts were nothing to write home about. Hold onto your wallet - those kiddie rides and activities are EXPENSIVE. No "fun pass" available, a la carte only. For example, $3 a pop to go down a slide, $8 to hold a baby kangaroo. read more

The place is fun -- basic kids rides, pumpkins, petting zoo, etc. The problem is that you need a ticket for everything. It used to be that you simply paid a flat fee, got a wristband, and it was all available. No more. It's lousy having to tell your kid "no" or "you can only go one time" for rides. It was way more fun if you can just pay a set fee and it's all turned on for the kids. read more

This place seems to be run by people who value money above all else. Everything is overpriced, (tickets for rides, drinks, food and so on), and it's a pretty chaotic place. And I must say, it hurt my heart to see horses strapped up to a turning wheel and be forced to walk in circles all day long! I will never return. read more

I went here yesterday for the second time (once last year during pumpkin fest). I didn't end up buying a pumpkin because I felt it would definitely rot before Halloween. I went to the petting zoo ($5 - 5 tickets) to get in (3 tickets for a decent size cup of carrot sticks, 1 ticket for a ice cream cone of feed). They had pig races throughout the day in various intervals. The price of admission vs the amount / variety of animals was worth it in my mind. They had emus, a kangaroo, various cows/bulls from all over the world, an exotic deer, katomundis, various goats, camels, a zebra, tortoises, a tropical bird, donkeys. They also had a parakeet encounter (which I believe was an additional 3 tickets per person. I will definitely be back next year. Note to others - especially those with kids-- avoid the emus... When you try to feed them anything especially carrots they peck fast, split the carrot, and usually drop without eating it... I would not recommend feeding they anything by hand. I came here on a Wednesday afternoon. The farm was pretty empty for the most part. Just a few customers buying sweet corn. It's cute and fun to look at the items they have if it's your first time. Most of their items are a bit overpriced though. I saw almost $10 for some pasta sauce. However they do have some items at a very cheap price. They have different flavors of candy and honey sticks for 20 cents. They have a variety of your typical candy favorites boxed up for under two bucks a pop. They have a little fridge full of old fashioned sodas. When you're at the checkout counter they offer you a free sample of their latest fudge. I tried the watermelon one and it was delicious! Their pies are really good also. They have that melt in your mouth effect. If you purchase their donuts when they are "one day old" you get them half off. If you don't buy anything else at least try one of their pies or apple cider donuts. You will not regret it. The ladies at the checkout counter were both very pleasant. read more

While most of the reviews here are for the pumpkinfest, they also have a retail greenhouse business during the spring/summer. We came here looking for vegetable plants and they had a great selection at reasonable prices. The plants for the most part were in excellent condition, although some of the vegetable plants that are kept outside had some frost damage. They also have a huge selection of flowers and annuals that they have displayed in the huge greenhouses that re all interconnected. read more

we went to didier farms yesterday, it was nice free to get in and very clean we did the pony ride $4, petting zoo $3 and horse carriage ride $3, you can skip the horse ride, pretty boring, under 2 years is free except the pony rides didnt get a chance to do the hayride as there was a birthday party of 80 in line! by the way if you have 80 people at your kids 3rd birthday party someone is WRONG with you, lol we had a brat and pumpkin donut, both were good, lots of indoor seating the also have fall foods for sale, small halloween shop, toddler carnival rides, arts and crafts for older kids and some old john deers read more

Everything is way way over priced. Be prepared for sticker shock. Apples and other produce are cheaper at Mariano's. It's also sad to see camels confined. These very large animals have very little space to move. read more

We come here every year because we are 5 min. away! It's all about timing when you come. We have made it a tradition to go the first week they open. Never too crowded then. It's definitely expensive, but worth it. I LOVE it just as much as my kids! I'm always eager to have their roasted sweet corn and their apple donuts! YUM! We always get our pumpkins and corn stalks here. Animals, food, rides, games, crafts, pumpkins, hay rides, market, and more... I love this farm, but I am now disappointed after my experience yesterday. We took our 1.5 year old daughter with the intention of going to the petting zoo. We knew that it would be $7/person (which is ridiculous). We go up to pay and the attendant charges us for our not even 2 year old also $7. What! That's $21 for a petting zoo! That's wrong. We didn't go in. It was very disappointing bc we didn't go there for our own pleasures. We know what goats look like but we wanted to show our daughter. It's unfortunate that they charge so much for a zoo. Here's an idea. Charge adults and kids $5 and kids under 3 are free!! read more

I take my daughter to Didier Farms several times every year for PumpkinFest. While she is outgrowing this annual activity, we continue to support local businesses and Didier Farms is certainly among those we support. Each year this event costs more and offers less. The event is marketed as a family event but the prices are not in the spirit of allowing children and families to enjoy the activities. We were at Didier Farms last Friday September 27. Our school district had an Institute Day. PumpkinFest was not crowded at all - great for a first time out! The camel ride cost $5 and my daughter was guided around a tree twice - it took all of 30 seconds. I have it on camera! No one was waiting in line and while the man guiding the camel was very nice to my daughter he offered no explanation as to why he didn't let her ride longer. On to other rides/activities - all overpriced, rushed, and of little to no fun value. The only that was fun and priced appropriately was the corn maze and the tractor ride. The ironic thing is that Didier had no problem asking customers to sign a petition to save their farm from the Army Corp of Engineers. Perhaps they should be more grateful to the communities that have supported them for over 100 years. Perhaps the PumpkinFest should be about giving back. The staff did not seem trained on basic customer service. In fact, we made two purchases of produce and neither cashier thanked us for our business. This festival runs through October 31. Find another way to spend a day - not worth the $ and certainly not worth being treated as if you are annoying the staff. Such a disappointment on an otherwise beautiful day. read more

This place is a nice place to go. It gets pricing since they depend on a ticketing system for rides. The thing I didn't like is that it was more carnival-like than a typical pumpkin patch. I prefer the normal rides and attractions. My son did like the extra carnival type rides, so I guess that is a plus. read more

Myself and my girlfriend decided to visit Didier Farms today for the Pumpkinfest going on after a coworker told me about it. After reading a bunch of the reviews last night, I was a bit worried about the experience. After going for ourselves today, I really believe that a lot of the negative posts are people who are too cheap and want everything free and low cost. We went and had a great time today spending about $50 dollars for like 3 hours of entertainment which isn't bad at all. The girlfriend rode a camel and got some great pictures. We loved the exotic zoo. The pens and housing were ample space for this type of activity unlike the negative people wanting to whine about the conditions. It's very humane and all the animals look healthy and happy. We had a fun little trip through the corn maze. Plenty of food including some apple cider and pumpkin donuts that were both very good that we took home along with some popcorn. All the staff were friendly, answered questions, and thanked us. If your idea of entertainment is taking your kids for a 1$ burger from mcdonalds and letting them run around in a ballpit and tunnels, then it probably isn't for you. If you want a quality experience and willing to pay for it, I highly recommend you go. read more

Our 2nd annual visit to Didier Farm was even better than last year! I'm sure that's due in part to the fact that the Pumpkin Fest just opened this weekend. Super clean, well planned layout, more rides and parking was a breeze, despite the fact we didn't arrive until 2:00 pm. There is no charge for admission and tho the cost for ride tickets wasn't cheap ($1/ticket and most of the rides required 3 tickets; the petting zoo & hay ride were each 5 tickets per person) but this is a family owned working farm I believe. I wasn't a big fan of the parakeet pen initially, but the attendant was very prudent regarding how many kids could be in there at any one time and she was extremely cautious in protecting the safety of the birds. I thought the prices were fair considering the quality of the event (and still less expensive than Goebberts!) There was always staff available to answer questions and the ride operators were friendly and helpful. The market was well-stocked, concession stand had a great choice of food options and when it was time to leave, a 5 minute walk to my car and I was back on the road home in less than 2 minutes. read more

Every year we shop her for Sukka decorations, and I just have to say that they have the coolest gourds I've ever seen. We also got some really nice Indian corn and funky-looking little pumpkins. Mother's Day Special...buy 2 hanging plants get one diseased plant FREE. FYI...Didier Farm's has a NO exchange policy for their hanging plants which happen to quickly develop problems. They wouldn't even consider an exchange of a plant that looks night and day compared to the matching hanging basket. Within the few days after purchase, the plant died back considerably and looks nothing like the healthy companion. Plants purchased in the past and even the ones purchased the same day look great...I can't imagine they'd have a lot of problems where they can't take into consideration that one plant that just had issues. Do not go to this farm unless you support animal cruelty. Please read below for a first hand account at what the poor camels have had to go through, in the name of entertainment. "Hi moms. I'm posting this in the hopes of bringing awareness to what animals used for entertainment really go through and hoping we can bring change. A few weeks ago, I visited Didier Farms with my family. They offer camel rides there. While walking past the camels, I witnessed something truly horrible. One of the camels in the back was a little antsy. A worker approached the camel, grabbed him, and slammed his head into the wall- hard. The poor camel was stunned and then shaking. It was so incredibly heartbreaking and infuriating. I have since reached out to Didier Farms and given them ample time to respond but they have been silent. I believe that these types of places will still feature abused entertainment animals as long as there's a profit, so I think it's up to us to not participate in using animals for our own fun. Went on a Wednesday last week and one other lady with her daughter was there. I went through 20 tickets (20$) in about 20 minutes. The only thing that saved Didier Farms from getting 1-2 stars are the donuts. I came here hoping to score some fresh, cheap fruits and veggies but left empty handed. There was a sad selection of fresh produce and the prices were double what they should have been. Luckily, I purchased some pumpkin and apple cider donuts on my way out. They were so good they made the trip worth it. I'll definitely be coming back on the weekends to get my donut fix. read more

Maybe it's because I've always been very easy to please but I'm having a great time here on my first trip to Didier Farms. I'm here with my husband and our three kids. The older two are 9 and 11 so they and my husband are riding the rides and seeing the exhibits. Our youngest turned 5 months old yesterday. She didn't like the loud noises that the rides made so I am walking around with her in the quieter part of the farm. I can't find anything to complain about. There was plenty of parking in the field. There are lots of people but it's not crowded. There are trash cans everywhere. From where I'm standing I can count 16 trash cans and I'm sure there are more that are blocked by some of the exhibits. I haven't bought anything yet but all of the prices are clearly posted and nothing looks any more expensive then it would at any other novelty place like this. I'm looking forward to trying the fudge and the Apple cider donuts and maybe the fried Oreos. And hopefully if I get to try those I will go back and edit this review. I know the big kids want to buy some pumpkins. I'm sure we will visit again before Halloween. read more

The price is decent, it's $1 a ticket and I bought 40 worth just enough for the the main fun such as the corn maze/hay ride, a couple of rides & the petting zoo. We made it to the pig race which was at 2pm and that was part of the petting zoo which was an awesome addition. We picked our pumpkins and called it a day! read more

Stopped by last week, when I was in the area, had my Golden Retriever with me, thought I could take him around the center, was told by a rather rude woman, that 'Dogs are not Allowed'. I just said okay and left. I guess they feel that it is better to leave your dog in the car, rather than to give him fresh air. I did go further down the street to Leider Greenhouses, where they are very dog friendly. read more

Got four pumpkins from here averaged to be $13 a piece. We got them on Sunday before Halloween. We carved them on Wednesday and they were rotten inside. I always buy my pumpkins from here. But no longer will I buy pumpkins from here. Over priced and garbage. read more

I'm writing this review on the greenhouse and the produce mart, not the circus. I've bought my plants each spring for the last 7 years, and then I go back when the plants start to be discounted just to see if some poor orphan plant catches my eye--which usually happens. I love the quality of the plants. It can, at times, be difficult to find somebody to help you, but that is to be expected with so much ground to cover. The produce in the barn is what you would expect--a splurge, but good quality. I'm glad a place like Didier's is so close to my home. read more

We've been going to Didier Farm every year since our son was 5, he's 11 now & we still enjoy it as a family! They offer a fun hayride, a pretty big corn maze, lots of yummy "fall type foods", a haunted house, carnival rides for big & little kids, short waits on everything (except the food) clean toilets & prize winning pumpkins!!! SO MUCH FUN! I'm giving it 4 stars only because the prices are too high, much like most fall fests. read more

My family and I have been going here for about 12 years. It started off as a wonderful place to bring the kids, get some pics with the pumpkins, walk the fields, grab some donuts and be on your way. Over the years it has morphed into something so ridiculous and over the top. We went this past weekend and could not believe how crowded it was. The lines were long, prices crazy, and just not enjoyable any longer. We decided that this will be the last year that we go. It lost its appeal of a low key, family friendly, enjoyable outting to a crazy, over the top money making factory. I would say it's a shame but there are SO many other options to choose from. read more

The Didiers are great farmers and members of the community. In today's environment, there is too much fake news and agendas like this from animal activists. My question is why didn't they ask to see a manager immediately and report on the spot if they were so concerned. Picking up your own veggies is very pleasant, and just the idea of a farm makes me happy. However, I will go ahead and give a one-star review just because of the poor quality of customer service. The supervising manager, Terry , was extremely rude and I just find it unacceptable to be treated with disrespect like that when I have chosen to spend MY MONEY at their farm. I care about purity of our food, so like to can my year's tomatoes every summer. Living in the city, I have to purchase canning quantities from local farmers. This is what brought me to Didier Farms. I had called earlier to ask about plum tomatoes and was told that they were available only as pick-your-own. Had farmer-picked plum tomatoes been available, they would have been $28 per bushel, pick-your-own would be $18. I'm willing to put in some sweat equity, so we drove to Didier's with hats and paper bags to transfer the tomatoes into. I have gone to pick-your-own farms and orchards before and the general rule is that they will supply a measurable container, which you return, and you carry the produce home in whatever you bring. Didier's, however, required that you buy the baskets they carry, at $4 each. Since I wanted 2 - 3 bushels, I would have to buy that many baskets. If I transferred them into the bags I brought, they would not sell at the bushel price but at the per-pound retail price they sold inside the store. Okay, the price was not what was quoted, $22 per bushel rather than $18, but I could have lived with that. What became really offensive was the way we were treated when we drove into the pick-your-own area. We had to be registered. Putting a numbered placard inside the windshield with our 'registration number' was a little odd. Taking down our license plate number was...okay... maybe understandable. We might try to run the barricade and they would need some identification. Requiring that we leave our drivers' licenses until we returned was a little too far. And when they insisted they look into our car and trunk, presumably to uncover the trunkful of pagan babies we would unleash into their fields to eat quantities of unpaid-for tomatoes definitely crossed a line. I didn't see an airport x-ray machine which I figured was the next step, but chose to leave instead. We never even saw any tomatoes. Bait and switch pricing aside, I was disgusted at the way this family chooses to treat its customers. There is no way I would ever again consider doing business with this farm. read more

They tried to pass their crappy corn harvest as being Indiana corn. Indiana is 50 miles from Buffalo Grove. What a joke.

Visiting the pumpkin farm each year has become a family tradition. You can spend a fortune here if you try to do everything so we don't. While we take some pictures with the pumpkins, we already bought huge ones at costco so we just look. We always start off with a six pack of the apple cider donuts (six well spent bucks). The hayride and corn maze are a joint admission. ($20 for a family of 4). You can spend as much time riding on the hayride and running around the maze as you want so it is a good place to let the kiddos run. The corn maze seemed much more trampled this year but it wasn't muddy for a change so I was happy! We also always do the animal petting zoo (again $20 for a family of 4 plus few bucks here and there for food for the animals) and they stamp your hand and you can keep coming back. Our favorite part is going into the bird cage where adorable little parakeets land on your Popsicle stick to eat bird seed and they land on your head and your shoulders (another $12 for my family). My kids always squeal with delight and we got some priceless pictures. Honestly if we just came and visited the birds, I think my kids would be happy. We actually skipped all the rides and games so we ended up spending $60 and then we left to have lunch elsewhere and we had a fun family Sunday. We ended up going to wildfire but there is also a big bowl very near by and a panera bread. After being around animals, I wanted to scrub our hands before lunch anyway! read more

We traveled from Chicago on Monday, October 26 to Didier Farms. We were a group of 4 Kindergarten classes and so excited to get out of the big city and explore a farm, corn maze, hayride... We had 96 5 year olds and 27 adults. The check in process took almost 30 minutes as there was only one person checking in schools/groups. We were given tickets for each child and adult to enter the hayride and corn maze. We were then given a pumpkin sticker which served as a 'receipt' for payment in full in order to receive a pumpkin at the end of our visit as a take home souvenir. This was a lot for 27 adults to be divided or held on to especially after waiting around for 30 minutes. A simple entrance stamp would have sufficed. We enjoyed our day, the weather was perfect and surroundings were lovely. We ended our experience with 4 stickers missing. We spent $1000 that day - for a Kindergarten classroom, that is a lot of money. When exiting, we were told that we could NOT get stickers for the 4 children who's stickers went missing. I asked to speak to the supervisor. The supervisor came out and denied 4 5 year olds pumpkins and kindly told me we could PAY for 4 more, tiny pumpkins. We were told that we should have checked out 96 5 year olds and 27 adults at one time - which is nearly impossible seeing that each adult was responsible for 3-4 students. In todays day and age, I found the greed and inconsiderate response to our dilemma unacceptable. Our 27 adults, their families and our school will not be back. So very disappointed! read more

We took the girls to the pumpkin farm here for the afternoon. We arrived to find a huge free parking lot and tons of people. We found our way to the ticket counter where you purchase tickets for the activities (admission is free). Each ticket costs $1 and each activity used three tickets per person. This means that for a family of four, each activity costs $12. This seems a bit steep considering little kids want to do ALL the activities. The best part was the corn maze, because, to my surprise, we actually got lost in it. There were hayrides, that left a lot to be desired. The scenery was terrrible and boring and the pumpkins we were looking at were already rotting and smooshed. It was a warm day so we wanted to buy water bottles. The line to buy anything, even water, was about 20 minutes long. The petting zoo seemed hopeful, but by the time we got to it, the animals were already full of feed. The donkey and the pig were cute. Overall, I felt like the pumpkin patch must make a killing on families around this time of year. read more
