This is my second visit to Dig Inn, and I'm always impressed with their farm-fresh food. The first time, I had the Brisket Chef Special, which was both satisfying and delicious. This visit, I decided to create my own bowl with the assistance of the friendly staff. They were happy to let me sample before I made my selection. I chose the Crispy Fried Chicken with Cornflakes as my protein, and it was perfectly, brown rice, sweet potato, and mac and cheese. The cashier at the register recommended - the hot honey sauce for the chicken, and the sriracha for the mac and cheese. Quick lunch place. Great for vegans! I had bowl with farro, cannellini beans, tofu, roasted carrots. Only thing lacking was a vegan piece of bread. But we just went down the street ands picked up some bread from Eli's Bread. Ate inside... cold out there today... 30's. This place sprang straight from my brain! We both had the salmon and picked 3 sides each. I had the Cheesy Cauliflower, grilled sweet potatoes, and Mac & cheese. Everything was delicious but I found the Mac a touch gritty. My partner had broccoli, grilled carrots and lemon cous cous. It was all wonderful but the cous cous was actually epic. I saw the branding for this all over the city and the bowls and salads looked so appetizing. I was en route to Sweetgreen but when I saw one of these babies was just steps away, I detoured here instead. Nice enough variety of options. I went with the harvest salmon bowl, which seemed to be a popular choice (like 2-3 other people in line before me ordered it.) Warm hearty grains, crunchy apples, a nice-sized, well-seared piece of fish that was very moist. I scarfed it down, and it was the prefect hearty healthy lunch to refuel me for my day. I personally am not vegetarian, but I have several friends who are. The fact that everyone can personalize their bowl means everyone has options (think like chipotle or Subway). I actually got the lentil soup, which I thought was pretty flavorful. I would've liked some more beans, but it was good overall. I also had 2 sides of bread which was the perfect complement to the soup. The bread was light and savory. I'd go back just for the bread! The customer service was excellent (which to me is the biggest part of any establishment). The folks were nice and didn't rush me when I was making up my mind. The way I describe DIG to most people is that it's a chic, healthy, efficient, takeout spot that provides unique staple items with a twist. I stopped by with my mom for lunch last weekend when were in the UES on a bit of a museum crawl. I got the Kale Caesar Salad with Char-Grilled Steak (cashew kale Caesar, tomato and cucumber salad, avocado, breadcrumbs, and steak on the side). I'm not sure why they put proteins on the side (it means they need an additional container and makes it harder and messier to eat, since everything isn't together in one bowl), but it tasted good otherwise (I didn't find the steak very tender, so next time I'd get it with another protein or keep it vegetarian). My mom got the avo grain bowl with crispy tofu (farm greens, farro, sheet tray carrots, tomato and cucumber salad, avocado, and balsamic dressing). Again, the protein was on the side - which is just unnecessary and kind of strange? Overall, it's healthy and fast, so it's decent place for a meal on the go if you're doing your own UES museum crawl. read more

They have the food laid out Chipotle-style and scoop each item in the bowl as you go through the assembly line. I ordered the classic dig ($12.86) which came with charred chicken, roasted sweet potatoes, charred broccoli, brown rice, and garlic aioli. Everything was super flavorful including the rice! The chicken was very tender and the aioli went well with everything. Everything had a lot of flavor and nothing was bland. The sweet potatoes and the broccoli were well seasoned and I was thoroughly surprised by how good everything was. The bowl felt fresh and clean which is what they're going for. This Dig Inn location is clean and very welcoming! We ordered a custom bowl and the Hot Chicken bowl. The food is laid out behind a glass. All of the cold sides, followed by hot sides and then the protein. For the custom bowl, I opted for the rice and salad as base, followed by the corn and endive, and kale. For protein it was the charred chicken. For the Hot Chicken bowl, the sides were broccoli and carrots. Only complaint is that the broccoli and carrots both had major burnt pieces, which isn't the healthiest and I had to cut it away. Either way, all very yummy! Dig Inn is so fresh and well seasoned. It's fresh, healthy and I love the pesto sauce that I add to my protein. I usually stay away from the rice or other carb and upgrade to the kale Caesar salad for a little extra charge. I always ask for one additional pesto sauce. I love ordering the wild salmon or dark meat chicken as protein. Tip: stay away from the meat ball as the protein because it's way too salty. When I'm looking for a consistently tasty and relatively healthy lunch, I head to Dig and get a market bowl. If you go when it's busy, I'll warn that it can be hard to hear the staff. The items aren't labeled which makes it tricky if you have questions but I often look at the app to see ingredient lists before deciding. My go-tos are the farro with butternut squash base, house salad with mint and rosemary dressing (also a base), roasted sweet potatoes and roasted broccoli. Today I also got the apple and celery salad which I highly recommend! It has sliced apples, celery, candied walnuts, parsley and parmesan. It is really delightful! Hi there- I'm a big fan of DIG & have been for years but service at your UES location is not great. This week (Jan 9th around 2:45pm), I came in and ordered a kid sized entrée & a new employee allowed me the cashew kale salad as a base. Neither one of us knew that that wasn't an option and the trainer (girl with a black hat covered in pins) came over and rudely dumped my salad back into the bowl and was overall incredibly condescending towards me ordering a kid size entrée. It was pretty embarrassing for both the trainee and me. She wasn't especially nice to him either. Is it policy that adults aren't allowed to order a smaller entree, without a kid present? Nearly any time I come in to order one, I get responded to in a critical manner. I eat here multiple times a week (usually order through the app), but due to health needs, choose a smaller portion. I would think a restaurant that is vegetable focused andnhealth-conscious would be understanding of that. It's such a massive bummer to have discomfort about ordering in person in your store & may just have to opt for another restaurant. May be worth either expressly stating that is your policy OR letting your team know they shouldn't be outwardly critical towards patrons.
