I picked up an order for takeout on Thanksgiving as I was out for a stroll and saw one of their posts on instagram. The sweet potatoes were creamy and delicious. The Turkey was flavorful and succulent which I was surprised by especially since it stood up after my almost ~30 minute trip home. When we walked in, we stood at the front for several minutes before anyone acknowledged us, despite multiple staff members clearly seeing us waiting. Once seated, I had a few questions about the menu and learned from our waitress that sides could not be ordered separately. My husband ordered the burger medium, but it arrived overcooked, and the fries tasted like standard frozen fries. Nothing special. I ordered the waffle with buttermilk chicken. The waffle itself was good, although I wish the maple syrup came on the side instead of already poured over it. The chicken, however, tasted old and stale to the point that it was inedible. I politely mentioned this to our waitress, who said she would inform the manager. The manager then came over to the table without introducing herself and immediately, in a very blunt tone, asked, "What's wrong with the chicken?" I was honestly caught off guard because she never identified herself and seemed irritated from the start. I calmly explained that the chicken tasted old. Instead of apologizing or showing any concern, she looked at me almost dismissively and responded with, "Well, I can assure you it was made today." It seems there was no effort to handle the situation professionally. She later removed the meal from our bill, which we sincerely appreciated and thanked her for, but as she walked away she remarked, "I mean if you don't like it, then you don't like it." The comment felt unnecessarily rude and dismissive, especially considering how respectfully we handled the situation. I chose here because I wanted to try to stay in this area and find a place that actually took reservations and was a nice sit-down place but not Asian food. 4747 was in a perfect location. I got there at 6pm on Saturday night to almost no customers dining. However, tables filled in a little bit. I got a negroni sbagliato (a very 2023 drink), and it was super refreshing and tasty! The bar area seemed to have gotten special attention and love, it was stocked far beyond what I'd expect from a restaurant this size. We had an appetizer off the specials of the day, a salmon crudo. The crudo was nice and refreshing. I do wish there was a little more olive oil flavor, but it tickled me to hear the wait staff describe crudo as "similar to sashimi". I had the house papardelle and my friend had the short ribs. Both were delicious and reminded me of jerk seasoning, a bright peppery taste that was very warming and homey. I did rally to finish my pasta since I knew I couldn't pack any home. We also ordered cakes for dessert. I had the ricotta pistachio, which was honestly the most underwhelming part of the meal. It didn't hit the deep pistachio nutty and sweetness I was expecting, and the crumbled dried pistachios on top tasted almost stale. Overall, if not for the very attentive service that was given by the young wait staff, I would rate this a three. Great to be back at was formerly Bellwether, one of my favorite New American restaurants in LIC. I'll miss it, but 4747 LIC is definitely that void well! I came here with my parents visiting on a Saturday around 545ish. No reservations needed during 'early bird special' hours lol (with my folks, ahem), we were prompted greeted as we arrived and had our pick of tables. The new owner did do a fair amount of work and redesign with the interior, and the space looks great, stylish yet cozy. I started with a 47 Basil Smash (Malfi Gin, Lemon, Basil, Agave) served as dry as possible (not a big sweet cocktail person). It was delicious and not overly sweet at all, very refreshing. We were also treated to some house-made potato chips and a lovely...ranch dipping sauce, I think? Either way, very tasty. For apps, we settled on the Grilled Octopus (we're all suckers for it - if it's on the menu, we're getting it lol) with Venere black rice, and salsa verde. The octopus was cooked ppppperfectly, and a nice sized portion at that. It was a tad bit on the salty side, but otherwise amazing, as was the black rice it came with. We also had the Braised Oxtail with fried polenta and crispy onions. Sinfully good. Oh man, decadent as heck, but goddamn delicious. Maybe could have used an acid/pickled veggie or something to cut a bit, but whatever - delicious. For the mains, I opted for the Beef Short Ribs with brown butter parsnip puree and caramelized onions. The short ribs were super tender, minimal knife-usage needed, so good, and paired well with the puree and caramelized onions. Solid solid short ribs. My dad is a lamb chops guy, and he thoroughly enjoyed his lamb chop entree, as did my mom with her Roasted Cornish Hern. The dessert menu is pretty bare-bones at the moment with just gelato and sorbet, so hopefully that gets built out a bit as they mature - but probably for the best after a fairly rich, decadent meal haha. Tried this new spot in our neighborhood last wked and it was so good! We started out w the Grilled Octopus, Venere Black Rice, Salsa Verde. It was so tender and moist, even the rice was al dente and delicious. Surprised at how empty it was, we were only one of a handful of tables in a restaurant that seats around 50-60, but then again it was the day before New Year's Eve so maybe everyone was saving their partying for the next evening. Having been to this location when it was still Bellwether this place had big shoes to fill. The flavors and techniques used evoked Italian and French American, compared to its predecessor which leaned more New American with a broader range of flavor influences, not positive or negative either way just different. The layout of the restaurant is essentially the same as it was, a modern, simple open space with bar located at the left. We ordered drinks to start, two Negronis and a spicy Old Fashioned, $17 each. The cocktail menu is pretty brief. I thought my Negroni was ok, nicely presented tho didn't particularly stand out. My friend enjoyed her Old Fashioned. The food: Oysters Rockefeller $?: staff recommended this and it was quite delicious, the oysters were slightly briny and the baked cheese (I think it was cheese?) wasn't too heavy. Burrata with poached pears and red wine reduction $20: the cheese was creamy and fresh, I hadn't had this exact combination before but it made sense. Pears perfectly poached. Grilled octopus, venere black rice, salsa verde $24: solid take on grilled octopus. It was just very slightly overcooked, like a smidgeon, not enough to loose the tenderness. It went well with the black rice which was a bit nuttier and chewier than regular long grain which tends to be firmer/drier or short grain rice that's softer/stickier. - Roasted cauliflower, romesco sauce, olive gremolata $16: great combination of flavors, this really worked. Cauliflower is really an open palette to many colors of the savory rainbow. - Pappardelle with Duck Ragu $30: we ordered two of these, expected a red sauce though a white sauce made more sense with the duck. Good housemade pasta and duck was tender and juicy. - Creme Brûlée $12: perfect execution, nice vanilla flavor and we all loved the precise sugar brûlée - a lot of places make the melted sugar too thick, others don't get the consistency of the creme part right. - Chocolate lava cake $12: served with vanilla ice cream, also terrific execution. extra half star since I was really impressed by the professionalism and wonderful service by the staff. As we chatted away, we unintentionally took longer to close out the bill. They kindly did not interrupt us and waited for us about 10-15 min after regular closing time, which was generous. Overall well worth checking out! Their drinks and desserts may benefit from a little pizzazz, though I will say having chosen rather generic traditional desserts they made sure these were executed perfectly which makes a strong statement in support of their good technique. read more

[[HIGHLIGHT]]We came here for birthday brunch with a large group, and it was nicely set up. Very clean establishment.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Reason for the one star review, is because of the quality of food. We ordered a steak, and it came well done when we ordered medium rare. We sent it back to the kitchen, which I'm happy the server did. When it came out, the steak was rare and the inside of the steak was still cold.. Would never come back again.
