My friend had the plantain Chips, which were outrageously over priced and not very good. The mixed drinks are great and priced competitively. I had the chicken tenders, which were slightly over cooked but still good. In other words: come here for the drinks, but get dinner elsewhere. However, any good attributes were overlooked by a BAR that allows children. If a six to ten year old can sit at a bar and twenty something patrons who easily look like teens are not carded, this place is actively looking to (and 100000000% deserve) to get shut down. We were passing through at lunchtime and the Yelp community helped us decide where to stop with our pup. Severely understaffed the day we arrived, they managed to feed the crowded patio with help from a bartender and a manager. Lost a star for no silverware, order arrived wrong, and sparse meat on the New York sandwich. Went here for lunch today, first time trying it. Completely disappointed. The bartender was our waitress because we sat inside, never a smile or any kind of pleasantness from her. Seemed annoyed to be taking care of us. One other server was there working the patio, same with her, complete lack of customer service. Wow... I expected so much more. I know it's a college town on a Friday... but... Went out looking for a good time tonight after having out second shots now for some time. I know that local establishments are struggling, but... This was our first time in this place. We reviewed the online reviews and their website. With that said, they don't match the real life of Digby's. We were not greeted upon entering, even though there were 3 people at the front door. Spacing was ok if you wanted to sit in a corner. Most people were not wearing masks as they walked around the place. And, the NOISE... Even though we were in a corner, furthest away from everyone, you couldn't carry on a conversation. Between the loudness of what was going on and the music above us, you couldn't hear each other. I tried to play some music that would be a little easier listening, however it was shut down by a guy playing a guitar toward the front and around the corner. Still couldn't talk and to beat that the music wasn't any good. Ok... Overall, this is a college bar. One that has mostly younger crowd. That is not me. Yelp doesn't have a rating for that. So, don't believe in the websites they post. If you want a noisy place to slip up to the bar and yell at each other, go for it. read more

there food and fries are good except for the gator meat! I was so excited bc I love gator meat and unless you're down south it's hard to come by. It looked off but gave it a go and that was not gator meat. if it was than it's bad. not saying y'all did it on purpose but someone got scammed. either y'all from who you got it from or me. gator meat should have no fat and be white. what I got looked and tasted like fat and gristle deep fried. it also didn't look done at all. I couldn't eat more than a few bites and am so glad I didn't eat more bc it made my stomach go nuts the following day. not food poisoning just to clarify. it was way to much grease and fat. I can't digest fat which is why I love gator meat bc it's close to none on it. but that was not gator meat. Love digbys. Although I prefer the patio seating, the past few times I've been I sat inside. They have some amazing cheese sticks, oversized and served with a really good dipping sauce. Kevin made our drinks this last visit, and he did an excellent job keeping up with workflow and conversation. Karie was working with him and she did great as well. This was not my first time at Digby's. I've been here multiple times before and usually I enjoy their food but I never got around to writing a review for them. Their cheese bricks are amazing and a must try for anyone that hasn't tried it yet - if you like cheese, that is. I've had issues with the service here before.This review is about a group event I planned at Digby's on a wednesday evening. To give some context to this review, I was hosting an event for approximately 15 people. I called them two weeks in advance and made my reservation. When I called them the night prior to give them an updated headcount, I was told that there was no such reservation made. The person on the phone took down all the information once again and I updated the headcount to 14. She asked me to call them and let them know if there were any further updates before the start time. When I arrived at the scheduled time, I had one of the servers tell me that I did not make a single reservation. I asked her if she could check the system and she complained to me that I shouldn't expect them to have seating ready if I don't make a reservation. Since the first server was just accusatory, I went up to another server. I was helped by two other servers in setting up the tables and chairs, after my original reservation start time, on the deck/ stage area outside. They were both apologetic. One of them was off the clock at that point, but stayed on to explain what could have happened. He also mentioned to me that they have a new chef now and that they will be making some new additions/changes(daily fresh desserts for example) to the menu. He was very helpful. The server assigned to our group was friendly and helpful, but it seemed like she was set up to fail from the get go. It was unlimited wings and half price bottle night, and there were 14 of us in the group. She was the only one assigned to the group. She tried her best to accommodate all of us and try to make it a good experience. Unfortunately, we had multiple instances of getting the wrong order and cold wings. The server was still a trooper and she was very apologetic for all of the chaos, but I believe that better planning on the management's part to handle a group this size would have alleviated a lot of the issues. Unless the place sorts out some of these issues, I would not recommend this place for groups. I had the wings themselves and I was not a fan. For each round of the unlimited wings, I tried a different sauce and in my opinion, the wings were just doused in the different wing sauces. I didn't have a single one that stood out as tasty. Prices are very decent. The unlimited wings on wednesdays are $9.99 and you also got half price bottles of wine. We got a Cab for $12.50 after the discount which was a good deal. Digby's has an amazing location. It is in the heart of downtown lafayette. They have a beautiful patio and on multiple occasions, they've brought it live music performers, during both the summer and winter, which is great. There is seating inside as well. Even though it's a bit dimly lit, it gives a nice ambience. All this said, I'd still probably go back for their cheese bricks. They assured me that it was going to stay on the new menu. read more

I was oscillating between 3 stars and 4 stars. I have been here twice so far, one time with a party eating/drinking out on the patio, another time with a friend inside the pub proper. The pub interior is nicely-decorated - it has a strange, old-timey, river/steam boat aesthetic to it. Not so nice was that the floor was very sticky, the tables were filthy, and the appetiser dishes were greasy, as if they were just blasted with water, no soap deployed. You don't have the same problem of goopy floor and tables outside, at l east, from the fact that the rain will at least clean it up. The beers are decently priced for the area, and there is a fair selection. The main star of the show, though, is their pub food. It is definitely some of the most unique in Lafayette, with such fair as massive blocks of buffalo milk cheese, battered and deep fried (appropriately called cheese bricks), fried bits of alligator, ground lamb sliders, fried plaintains chips, and more. Most of what I tried so far is delicious - though I would not recommend the plaintain chips. They are inconsistently cut and so most of them will be soggy and chewy, instead of crispy or crunchy like you would expect with plaintain chips. They are served with an orange cream soda sauce, though, which is one of those weird things that somehow goes with everything. Which brings me to another +/-, their creative sauces accompanying their appetisers. I am noticing a pattern of them matching good but whacky sauces with things that do not compliment them at all. The gator bits are served with a ranch sauce that does not go with it at all. The cheese bricks are served with a raspberry sauce that is borderline too sweet for it. Then the orange cream soda sauce, which goes with everything, is only served with the nasty plaintain chips, which can't be salvaged even with the sauce. Really odd culinary choices, though not wholly unwelcome. They just need to recommend the orange cream soda sauce on everything. One thing that helped bump the rating down was, from looking at other's reviews, I get the impression that they might have been gradually shrinking the size of appetisers over the years, but not reducing the price accordingly, though I could be mistaken. The cheese bricks today, for instance, are only served in a plate of four, though I am seeing that they originally came in an order of 6, ostensibly for about the same price as today, and then a bit later, 5. Down to 4, it seems we are. I am never alright with that sort of practice, if that appears to be what is happening. Still, I would say it is worth a visit now and then. Decent and unique selection of pub food, and it is great when the weather allows you to be out on the patio. I would just say mind the hygiene a little. read more

My wife and I have been to this pub several times now. Each time the food has been excellent which is not easy to find in a pub. Their steak sandwich and pulled pork sandwiches are great. The cheese bricks are excellent and shareable. Service has always been quick and friendly. Highly recommend this downtown establishment. Live music from time to time also! read more

We dropped in here for dinner on a Sunday evening when driving back to Chicago and we needed a dog friendly patio, as it was too hot to leave the dog in the car while we ate. The servers were friendly here. The downtown and this restaurant were dead on a Sunday night, but it still took a while to be helped. I think that's because the hostess was on a smoke break (sitting on some steps in the middle of the patio which was weird) and told us where to sit, but probably didn't tell our server. Only one beer was on draft, a good IPA, but was surprised that such a large bar and grill didn't have more draft selections. They have 3 sizes of burgers offered: 1/2 lb, 1 lb, and 1.5 lb, and they seem serious about those options. I would have liked to have seen someone go for the big one. Anyway, place was okay and it was dog friendly which was huge in our situation. Food was so-so but filling. I had the Reuben and my wife had the chicken tenders. I will say, portions were huge. The atmosphere was weird with only like 1 other table occupied in a large space. But maybe people just don't go out on Sunday nights in Lafayette. Unique food. Exceptional service. Fun decor. Yelpers say you can't leave Digby's without ordering the Cheese Bricks, and I am behind that 100%. These things are monstrous-- each perfectly breaded and fried, giving the ultimate crunch with every bite. When pulled apart, the cheese was ooey-gooey with just the right amount of elasticity. I really enjoyed the Captain Morgan infused raspberry dipping sauce and thought it complemented the savory cheese perfectly. I highly recommend an additional order of their homemade ranch for dipping (Dunk them in both sauces and you'll thank me later). Our server recommended the Wild Mushroom Pizza, which was essentially flatbread topped with spinach-artichoke spread, feta cheese, red onions, and wild mushroom slices. I was mainly sold on the truffle oil that it was garnished with, and it definitely did not disappoint! The rich taste and aroma of truffle was definitely there in each bite. For all my fellow truffle fanatics out there, this is an absolute must-try. My roommate and I also ordered the Digby Burger, which had bacon, chipotle aioli, and buffalo milk cheese. It's one of their most popular burgers, but we both thought it was only mediocre. The sweet potato fries ($2 side upgrade), however, were AMAZING! Fabulous! Went with the boyfriend. Got a Groupon since it was my first time here. Had the cheese bricks which were absolutely delicious! They had cheesy gooey goodness which was absolute awesomeness! Also tried the corned beef which was fresh, and plentiful. Boyfriend had the burger, which was fresh, huge and delicious! My sandwich came with chips and his burger came with Mac&Cheese. Everything was super fresh and delicious. Prices were super reasonable. Half price appetizers were available on Monday! The ambience was rustic and cute, and the service was great. Parking was free in front of the restaurant. It was raining on the day we went but they have a lovely patio in front of the restaurant. Will definitely come back to try other stuff! I would suggest to ask your server for light on dressing because I felt like my burger was kind of a mess. My husband ordered "The Legend" which was MASSIVE! If you're hungry go with this bad boy! He really enjoyed it, the size made it hard to eat though and again those sauces made it messy. Over all it was a cool place to try, they DO offer sweet potato fries which is always a plus for me. Visited for the NYE dinner special on 12/31/17. Our server was FANTASTIC!! She was attentive, continually checking in, and fast with bringing fresh drinks. I've eaten here multiple times and noticed on the last visit, they've changed up the menu (GOOD). Lots of variety to choose from My friend had the Reuben sandwich with fries (excellent) and vinegar slaw. Friend had no complaints about meal. A relative had the lobster and shrimp Mac-n-Cheese and claimed it was the best M&C she'd ever had! I opted for the filet mignon dinner they advertised on Facebook. While I ordered it medium well, it was well well done. And I don't think it was a filet cut, either. The meal came with mashed potatoes and green beans (both yummy). I chose not to mention the steak because it was getting really busy around 8:45 and I was really hungry. So I doused it in A1 and ate it anyway.
