[[HIGHLIGHT]]This meal took forever because it was a busy and crowded Friday night, but the vibes were unmatched for hanging out and chatting for a couple of hours![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The service was decent, and our waitress was lovely even while managing her chaotic, busy night. The specials did not disappoint; I would wait a million hours for this roasted garlic bread if I had to! The shrimp penne special was a creamy sauce with some greens and was really delicious! If you don't like garlic in your food I would avoid this spot! I would come back during a less busy time of the day.

Veal piccata

A Baton Rouge classic that never disappoints! This little Italian restaurant has been around for years, and it's easy to see why -- the food, atmosphere, and service are all consistently amazing. [[HIGHLIGHT]]They recently expanded the patio area and it looks great! The heaters, fans, and sliding doors make it the perfect spot year-round, especially when the weather's nice.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I usually end up ordering the same thing every time because it's just that good -- the veal and chicken piccata are both incredible. Everything always tastes fresh and full of flavor, and they make a really good martini too. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The vibe is lively and fun, whether you're there for date night or dinner with friends.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]It's one of those places that just feels like home -- you can tell it's loved by regulars for a reason.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Italian house salad

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Such a great little find. Upscale feels with a laidback vibe.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Service was superb though I can't recall our servers name, and food was delish! From the complimentary bread that was rustic and so soft, to the simple yet fresh Italian house salad to my chicken piccata which was nothing short of perfection, this place hit on all the high notes. Definitely will visit again soon as I'm passing through town.

My first time in LA, this restaurant was highly recommended. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It was a Monday night and it was extremely busy, it had a full bar and low dime lights.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We were a party of two and were told that the wait would be 15-20 minutes. We waited 42 minutes to be seated. [[HIGHLIGHT]]When we were finally seated the table had a horrible wobble[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]], the waitress was clearly over worked, flustered, and confused when she came over to take our order. We were very simple, we stuck with water and immediately ordered only entrees. I ordered the chicken parmigiana, the salads took about 24 minutes to come out along with bread and was immediately followed out by our entrees 7 minutes later. The person I was dining with ordered the cheese lasagna with meatball; she said it was delicious. My chicken parmigiana however, was completely charred. I told one bite and was hit with the taste or BURNT breadcrumbs. The following information is why I rated this a 1 star. The person I was dining with flagged down the hostess because the server didn't check on us. She informed the hostess that the chicken was burnt, without a single word the hostess reached across the table and began to walk away, a different server saw the interaction and asked what happened. I said my chicken was burnt, again without saying anything to us, she walked over to the hostess and whispered to her. They both then headed to the kitchen. Again, they did NOT say anything to me or the person I was with. About 5 minutes later our waitress finally comes to the table and asked where my plate was, I explained about the chicken and she responded, let me check on it. NO ONE apologized to me, gave me a time frame for the remake, or even try to offer an excuse. They just walked away from us. When the waitress returned with the food, she set it down, and said "there you go" and walked away again. I paid for our meals and we left. In customer service, the expectation is to at a bare minimum l, apologize for the issue and tell me you'll rush the remake (even if you can't rush it). But to just not acknowledge us, it was very disappointing. An older gentleman had been roaming the restaurant, previous to us being seated, talking up customer and solving problems, I would guess he was either the owner or a manager. Either way, he was very active on the floor but he didn't even approach us after the issue. Again, VERY bad experience. I don't think I'll be revisiting this restaurant during my next visit to Baton Rouge.

Meatball appetizer with tomato cream sauce
Van N.

my bestie pal and I went here for the first time together for dinner. Instantly, the wait staff alone are all so energetic and amazing! She was very helpful and bubbly. Food; we came and ordered 3 appetizers. We ordered the Meatball which you can choose the tomato cream sauce or tomato sauce. We chose the tomato cream. The flavor of the sauce was good! I'm pretty picky when it comes to Italian tomato base sauces, but all in all a nice & dense appetizer. 4/5 Calamari ; I love calamari! Who doesn't love calamari?! The serving size for this appetizer was perrrfect. It was my buds first time ever having it and said it was a top tier appetizer. The calamari came with a tomato dipping sauce and a tartar lemony garlic dipping sauce. Cambozola and roasted garlic ; Ok, so I love a good cheese and garlic concoction in my mouth. However, the baguette toast that the dish comes with was extremely dry. I feel like if it had came with an olive oil base or something with the gooey , warm, savory garlic then it would've made this appetizer better. Ambiance ; [[HIGHLIGHT]]CUTE. Lots of outdoors seating. Inside is small with a bar and maybe 8-9 tables. The location is honestly perfect.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]The owner, even came out and chatted with us as we were leaving! This place is such a hidden gem with a homey vibe.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Considering we only came for a girl dinner and drinks, our experience was amazing and needless to say...we will be back!!!!

Mike's Pizza

Hidden gem! Di Giulio Brothers is hands down the most authentic Italian food in Baton Rouge. [[HIGHLIGHT]]There's a reason it is packed at 6pm, parking spots full, long wait...because the food and atmosphere is worth it![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]They since expanded seating, but recommend getting there early.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We started out with the calamari which was crispy, fresh, and had amazing flavor. The soft shell crabs were fairly inexpensive but were the largest I have seen in so long! They were full, sweet and perfectly fried. Highly recommend! Another dish we absolutely would order again: Mike's Pizza. The eggplant is a nice touch! The flavor of the pizza is incredible - you will not be disappointed. The sea-bass was sub par in my opinion; wish they would have used a different cut of the sea-bass as it was extremely dry. The pesto was great, however! Certainly recommend if you're poking for an authentic Italian restaurant with phenomenal food!

Nino's 7512…read moreBluebonnet Blvd, Baton Rouge, LA 70810 IG:Tonylameats My last Restaurant Week pick done RIGHT at Nino's! I started off with that melt in your mouth Caesar carpaccio (raw ribeye but make it fancy) and those crispy crab arancini with the rich smoked tomato hollandaise; straight flavor bombs. For the main, the squid ink spaghetti with shrimp + jalapeño pesto was DIFFERENT in the best way! And that veal milanese over red wine risotto? Crispy, tender, and packed with flavor every bite. Dessert sealed the deal! King Cake panna cotta with orange curd was smooth, creamy, and perfect for Mardi Gras season. Plus that mascarpone cheesecake was light, rich, and straight dangerous. $62 for this whole experience during Restaurant Week is a STEAL! They had a vegetarian menu - which had a variety of pasta options. In addition to the vegetarian menu, other items like salads on their regular menu are vegetarian as well. Their pasta is all homemade and it tasted amazing. I got the burrata salad, of which I requested beets be added to - delicious. Then the vegetarian baked ziti - of good size and definitely shareable, I ended up bringing a box home, also delicious. Their wine and cocktails list was pretty extensive as well. Ample free onsite parking. Whether you're looking for the perfect date night spot, girls nice dinner spot, or elevated family dinner - this is the place. 12/10!!!

My husband had the blue crab gnocchi which he devoured. We fly into town for family often and are excited to make this a regular stop for us. We had our 5 year old with us who fell asleep on the way to the restaurant. They were very considerate and placed us in a booth so she could sleep. The bartender even gave us her child's blanket to keep her warm while we enjoyed our meal and drinks. What a wonderful and relaxing end to our day. Thank you so much!

The ambiance was nice and quiet, with dim lighting for a more intimate vibe. For appetizers, we ordered the crabmeat cheesecake and calamari. Both were good, but the crabmeat cheesecake was AMAZING! I think the sauce for the calamari could use some improvements as it tasted a little too light for pairing. They offered complimentary bread service, and the olive oil/ balsamic mixture had tons of freshly grated cheese which tasted amazing compared to other places. For drinks, we both got bloody mary's, but mine was so stiff that it tasted like a double compared to my partner's.. They also didn't do the spiced rim and were out of pickled green beans. The drink experience was quite disappointing overall, so my partner finished it for me, and he agreed mine tasted like straight up alcohol. We decided on the 16 oz. ribeye and Rufino's bolognese for our mains, and upon arrival, I was EXTREMELY disappointed to see that they served the bolognese with rigatoni instead of tagliatelle. The pasta was also served warm, not hot like the roasted potatoes which was weird. Looking back at the menu, I regretfully did not read the entire description because it's bolognese and I expected the traditional pasta to be used in it. The pasta sauce was still delicious as well as the steak, but the roasted potatoes tasted so strongly of peanuts so I wasn't a fan at all. We noticed that they offered complimentary cotton candy for dessert, but we decided to splurge on the crème brûlée and it was so yummy! Overall, I would come back, but I would not get the calamari or the bolognese again. The service was friendly while still keeping things professional, but it definitely slowed down a lot once we received our entrees.

The salads are always fresh, the bread is always warm, and the entrees are normally good. I will add that the shrimp scampi is also good but a tad spicy, which is surprising. The Chicken Piccata is disappointing, although it tasted a tad better than it looked. Which I'm thankful for. The Alfredo is probably one of the better dishes, and the 3 chicken meal is usually a good option. The location itself is clean and orderly. But again, the Service I have found to be a bit slow, and Servers aren't always friendly. So, I'll leave it to you to judge if it's worth trying. Food- good, Service- Hit or Miss.

Soft lighting and subdued music gave it an intimate feel. We decided to do an assortment of appetizers and desserts so we could try more things. We opted for 4 appetizers, the famous bread, a cup of a soup and two desserts with cappuccinos to complete our meal. You do have to pay for bread here, but trust me, you're going to want to. We got some red sauce to go with it, but we both personally preferred the bread without it. Next we got a cup of lobster bisque. The flavor was good , and there was a surprising heat to it, which honestly made me want to keep eating it. For appetizers, we ordered the seared ahi tuna, the eggplant stacks, the toasted ravioli and the beef manicotti. However, they were out of the manicotti so Joel suggested the seafood stuffed mushrooms, and I'm glad he did! I'm not a big mushroom fan, but I gladly ate these and would order them again. My complaint is that there are only three ... and I was sharing them. For dessert, we got the crème brûlée and the Italian brownie cake. The crème brûlée was perfection and the brownie cake was deliciously rich and satisfying. There are so many dishes that we want to try that we can't wait to go back!
