A couple of friends and I went to Portobello's on New Years Eve for dinner. I have never eaten here but two of my friends recommended it since they came here for dinner for the New Year's Eve pior and enjoyed their experience. We made reservations for 7:30 and all arrived and had to still wait a while before we got seated. We all put in our drink and food orders right away since we noticed there was only two waiters working and it did take a while to get our food but that was expected since it was a holiday. We got our food out first before we even got our drinks. The chicken parmigiana was good and the spinach dip was good as well but I have had better. The drink tasted good and was refreshing. Since service was slow we got a complimentary bottle of champagne which was enjoyable.

We were fighting for the water's attention due to some larger tables seated next to us. Strike one. Then the brunch food portions for what you pay for are... Hysterical - a single biscuit, small chicken tender, and chopped up hash brown are $17? Strike two. As soon as we got our drinks we asked for Brad for our table and the waiter swore he'd bring us some, then didn't... Strike three. Any one of these problems would be fine on their own but combined you're left wondering what exactly you're paying extra for.

Been coming to Portobello's for years and it has always been a consistent and dependable fave for brunch. I love the location and that there a few outside tables because who doesn't like an al fresco moment on a pretty day? They have all of your usual brunch players like shrimp and grits and chicken and waffles, but you can also order items from their main menu. The hot crab dip is a great starter if you're into all things cheesy and delicious. There are bottomless mimosas which, if you've read any of my other brunch-centric reviews, you know is a gold star. I'm also a huge fan of the service here; I'm always greeted kindly and have a great server. It's been a while since I've stopped by for dinner, so I definitely need to come again and refresh my palate on those dishes.

First time coming during brunch so had to order the chicken & biscuit off of the brunch menu. This entree came with a huge piece of fried chicken on top of a freshly baked biscuit topped with a tasso rosemary gravy and a side of creole potato hash. So much great flavor here. The biscuit was my favorite part. It was super soft and buttery. I'm not sure I would order this dish again though because the chicken was a bit too salty. Brunch is very popular so be prepared to wait a bit for your food. We waited almost an hour. The restrooms were also a bit dirty and not kept up during this high traffic time.

Nice place and great service. Had some drinks and pasta dishes. Kids love the pasta dishes.

The eggplant Elise is like a celebration in your mouth and the grilled salmon is by far the best! The friendly and professional staff make this one of my favorite places to eat. Everyone in the restaurant appeared to be having a great time.

Nino's 7512…read moreBluebonnet Blvd, Baton Rouge, LA 70810 IG:Tonylameats My last Restaurant Week pick done RIGHT at Nino's! I started off with that melt in your mouth Caesar carpaccio (raw ribeye but make it fancy) and those crispy crab arancini with the rich smoked tomato hollandaise; straight flavor bombs. For the main, the squid ink spaghetti with shrimp + jalapeño pesto was DIFFERENT in the best way! And that veal milanese over red wine risotto? Crispy, tender, and packed with flavor every bite. Dessert sealed the deal! King Cake panna cotta with orange curd was smooth, creamy, and perfect for Mardi Gras season. Plus that mascarpone cheesecake was light, rich, and straight dangerous. $62 for this whole experience during Restaurant Week is a STEAL! They had a vegetarian menu - which had a variety of pasta options. In addition to the vegetarian menu, other items like salads on their regular menu are vegetarian as well. Their pasta is all homemade and it tasted amazing. I got the burrata salad, of which I requested beets be added to - delicious. Then the vegetarian baked ziti - of good size and definitely shareable, I ended up bringing a box home, also delicious. Their wine and cocktails list was pretty extensive as well. Ample free onsite parking. Whether you're looking for the perfect date night spot, girls nice dinner spot, or elevated family dinner - this is the place. 12/10!!!

My husband had the blue crab gnocchi which he devoured. We fly into town for family often and are excited to make this a regular stop for us. We had our 5 year old with us who fell asleep on the way to the restaurant. They were very considerate and placed us in a booth so she could sleep. The bartender even gave us her child's blanket to keep her warm while we enjoyed our meal and drinks. What a wonderful and relaxing end to our day. Thank you so much!

The ambiance was nice and quiet, with dim lighting for a more intimate vibe. For appetizers, we ordered the crabmeat cheesecake and calamari. Both were good, but the crabmeat cheesecake was AMAZING! I think the sauce for the calamari could use some improvements as it tasted a little too light for pairing. They offered complimentary bread service, and the olive oil/ balsamic mixture had tons of freshly grated cheese which tasted amazing compared to other places. For drinks, we both got bloody mary's, but mine was so stiff that it tasted like a double compared to my partner's.. They also didn't do the spiced rim and were out of pickled green beans. The drink experience was quite disappointing overall, so my partner finished it for me, and he agreed mine tasted like straight up alcohol. We decided on the 16 oz. ribeye and Rufino's bolognese for our mains, and upon arrival, I was EXTREMELY disappointed to see that they served the bolognese with rigatoni instead of tagliatelle. The pasta was also served warm, not hot like the roasted potatoes which was weird. Looking back at the menu, I regretfully did not read the entire description because it's bolognese and I expected the traditional pasta to be used in it. The pasta sauce was still delicious as well as the steak, but the roasted potatoes tasted so strongly of peanuts so I wasn't a fan at all. We noticed that they offered complimentary cotton candy for dessert, but we decided to splurge on the crème brûlée and it was so yummy! Overall, I would come back, but I would not get the calamari or the bolognese again. The service was friendly while still keeping things professional, but it definitely slowed down a lot once we received our entrees.

The salads are always fresh, the bread is always warm, and the entrees are normally good. I will add that the shrimp scampi is also good but a tad spicy, which is surprising. The Chicken Piccata is disappointing, although it tasted a tad better than it looked. Which I'm thankful for. The Alfredo is probably one of the better dishes, and the 3 chicken meal is usually a good option. The location itself is clean and orderly. But again, the Service I have found to be a bit slow, and Servers aren't always friendly. So, I'll leave it to you to judge if it's worth trying. Food- good, Service- Hit or Miss.

Soft lighting and subdued music gave it an intimate feel. We decided to do an assortment of appetizers and desserts so we could try more things. We opted for 4 appetizers, the famous bread, a cup of a soup and two desserts with cappuccinos to complete our meal. You do have to pay for bread here, but trust me, you're going to want to. We got some red sauce to go with it, but we both personally preferred the bread without it. Next we got a cup of lobster bisque. The flavor was good , and there was a surprising heat to it, which honestly made me want to keep eating it. For appetizers, we ordered the seared ahi tuna, the eggplant stacks, the toasted ravioli and the beef manicotti. However, they were out of the manicotti so Joel suggested the seafood stuffed mushrooms, and I'm glad he did! I'm not a big mushroom fan, but I gladly ate these and would order them again. My complaint is that there are only three ... and I was sharing them. For dessert, we got the crème brûlée and the Italian brownie cake. The crème brûlée was perfection and the brownie cake was deliciously rich and satisfying. There are so many dishes that we want to try that we can't wait to go back!
