I work at a local business close to DIGs on Canal and forgot my lunch today. I called and ordered the soup of the day, which was a Black Bean Soup. It was sooo good with a lil spicy kick. Absolutely loved it. I am doing low carb so ordered one of their Angus Beef Patties without the bun. I had swiss cheese on it..and it also came with red onion, lettuce and tomato. Had a choice of many sides but took the coleslaw. The hamburger was thick, juicy and cooked to perfection! I think I am going to be "forgetting my lunch more often!" And on top of it all they offer FREE delivery until December! I am highly recommending this place to all! We stopped by for the first time. I had the fish and chip. Nice batter and flaky fish. My mother had a hamburger with onion rings. She lived it! They were good. Large portions, we had to take both home for a later meal. Staff were attentive and kind. We will be back. read more

Went there last night for igloo dining outside, it was great. The food was tasty and served hot even with carrying it from the restaurant through the cold. We had the Mac-n-cheese flight and Buffalo chicken egg rolls for appetizers, both were very tasty. We all did burgers for entrees and had a couple drinks. The service was good, prices very reasonable and the atmosphere in downtown Lemont is cozy and festive. Highly recommend reserving an igloo if you have the chance! read more

Oh my. How can you mess up a quesadilla? Digs on Canal can show you how. After running an evening 5 k race my husband & I stopped for dinner & drinks. We ordered through 2nd Kitchen while at Pollyanna. It took over 90 minutes to deliver a chicken & a veggie quesadilla. It arrived cold and with almost nothing in it. We communicated via text with 2nd Kitchen about the status of our order. Apparently there was a pirate themed pub crawl going on which caused them to lose their ability to manage orders. I understand that there is a hiring shortage, but come on, it's a quesadilla. Communicate that when an order is placed that it will take 95, I'm not kidding, minutes to make & delivery 2 quesadillas. And let the customer know their food will be cold and have minimal fillings on a basic food item. Why would I ever want to order from Digs on Canal through 2nd Kitchen? It's going to take a lot to convince me to do so. read more

Wonderful restaurant. They hosted our family group of 20ish people this afternoon. They asked us to pre-order to make sure our food came out timely and everyone was happy. I went to dinner Saturday. The place was ok. Service was very good and bar prices were also very fair and actually good house wine. Here is the problem and this why reviews are all over the place depending on what you order. They DON'T have a grill! You have a bar & grill with no grill. I had the worst burger of a lifetime, it remind me of H.S. soy burgers for $1. why? because their entire menu is based on either oven food or flat top grill, which has no flame for charing the meat! Thats why you dont see even a steak salad on their menu, they can't cook it even if they wanted to. You can take the a Bubba burger which is the cheapest, greasiest burger ever made, give it some flame, char it, and the flame gives it a good flavor. Their flat top grill is like cooking on a pan, just a very large pan, but still a pan, no flame touchest the meat, so a cheap burger taste even worse. Burger K. uses cheap meat but they taste good because of char-grilling the meat not because they have good quality beef. And the rest of their menu is all oven baked food. Good food but oven baked. You can go to Costco, and have the same identical items without leaving your house. This place was a sandwich shop before and they didnt need an exhaust system for sandwiches, it's expensive to put one in and you need city permits to do so. If they want to survive, get one and don't blame the town blame management! BTW Jenn, I wouldn tworry too much about my spelling, I would be more concerned about your business! read more

Oh DIGS on CANAL when can I visit you again? Hubs and I just got done eating there and I'm ready to go back. Their quarry fare portions are large enough to take home for another meal and my husband was impressed by the cornbread. I had a burger with Swiss, bacon and beer cheese on the side for dipping my tots in. The burger was really good, and actually cooked how I asked. Looking for a home cook meal without any of the work. Well here is your place. Not only is the food fantastic with a collection of home cooked favorites. Friendly service in a cozy atmosphere. Generous portions for sharing and take home containers. When the cornbread comes don't make our mistake and fill up too much because the bountiful of flavors and deliciousness that is too follow is enough to satisfy all palettes. Digs really needs to work on the details. I'd say save your money and try somewhere else. Ordered a Dr. Pepper but it came flat. Switched to lemonade and the waitress was accomodating and apologetic. I ordered the Shepherd's pie and it was really disappointing. They put the mince over the potatoes so it looks like a bowl of vomit. I get it's faster for the kitchen but it's not worth $14. Portion size was good. The reason it's called a pie is because when you cover it with mashed potatoes and bake, it browns and looks like pie crust plus gives some texture. This was just a pile of sad mush. It was also very bland so all in all not worth eating. The cornbread was dense, not crisp, and worth passing on as well. My mother's panini looked like it was microwaved and soggy and came with a scant side of fries but altogether her meal size wasn't unreasonable for $7. I think they need to put better effort in what they make. When the host asked if we liked the food we were honest. When he heard i didn't like the shepherds pie his response was he was surprised as its popular and many people come back for it. I find that hard to believe and probably the wrong way to respond to a customer's unhappy dining experience...especially since he asked for the feedback and we weren't asking for a refund.
