My daughter recommended this for a father's day dinner. My husband and I went with her sharp at 5 pm. They were closed but opened right away at seeing us at the door. The food was awesome and delicious. So flavorful in each bite. We enjoyed 2 rotis with charred eggplant, lamb skewers, green papaya salad and oxtail dumplings. Excellent choice! My husband had their local beer, I had a beet drink called Beets by Bali and my daughter had Gypsy King with a slice of dehydrated lemon (I think) .... Loved loved loved my time here! Came with a friend at 5 p.m. with a friend. They opened promptly at 5 and we were taken care of right away. The ambiance was just amazing. The art work, decor and lighting really gave the place an intimate feel. We checked online prior to coming but when we arrived they seemed to have made changes to their menu again. They no longer offer the small plate and large plate options. Everything is just listed under "plates". Our waitress was super helpful with guiding us through the menu to identify the larger meal options for us. She also helped us find many gluten free options on their menu. We asked so many questions about the menu so here's what else I know: - The Lamb Skewers have a marinade made with Soy Sauce for all my gluten-free eaters. - The Skewers come with 3. The Tiger Prawn Skewers come with only 2. 1 prawn each. - Octopus plate comes with 1 tentacle That's all I remember. All in all, I really loved the savory and tapas style plates. My friend and I share 4 plates and left feeling satisfied. The amount of food is spot on for Tapas style. Nothing on their menu looked heavy or large in quantity. Most likely no leftovers to take home here. Everything is so delicious you have to enjoy it while you take in the amazing ambience Table service was so quick. Maybe next time I'll take some pictures. We visited Dija Mara a year or so ago, and were impressed so we decided to return and try again. As before, I thought the vibe of the place was snooty with out any obvious reason why it should be. However, on the first visit, I left impressed with the food, and thought the service was cool as in uninterested, but tolerable. On my second visit I had a different impression. On both visits, the food came out rather randomly, which I found surprising, but assumed it was part of the hip vibe. On the second visit we ordered vegetarian Roti for starters, Charred eggplant and Yu Choy for entrees. The first roti order arrived in a timely way, followed by the second roti order (eventually). We enjoyed this dish. The first entree arrived we shared it slowly, expecting the second to arrive shortly. The first entree (eggplant) was average at best. However, the second entree had not arrived after 20 minutes from the first. Shortly, the server offered us a box for the first entree, and left quickly, without listening to my statement that we were still waiting on the second entree. After several minutes of additional attempts to contact our server, we were finally able to flag her down (the restaurant only seats a few tables, so it took some determination on the part of the server to avoid eye contact). The body language told us that she was done serving us, and was waiting for us to leave so she could have her table back. Eventually, she returned and asked if we would like to pay, I explained that we were still waiting for an entree. She disappeared into the kitchen, and then returned after a few more minutes to explain "the kitchen was slow tonight." However, it is clear that our order got lost. She made no apology. She did not ask if I still wanted to complete the order. She did not offer to take it off the bill. She was committed to the pretense that no mistake was made. At this point our evening was feeling pretty downhill. At every other restaurant I have been to, the server apologizes for a lost order, and does not pretend somehow it didn't happen.The Yu Choy arrived after 15 minutes (sans rice), and we dumped it into a box to take home. Neither of us really felt like eating more at that point. The take home: one expects to wait a week a week to get into a Michelin restaurant, and pay a premium for extraordinary food and competent service. However, this restaurant provided average or worse food, and seemed to not have trained its servers. As noted by others, the servers seem openly bored by the customers, and wish they would all just go home. I will not be returning to this restaurant. read more

This place was such a disappointment. Service is mediocre. Someone mentioned the waitresses all look the same and I could not agree more... pretentious blondes covered in tattoos and poor attitudes. The vibe I got from this place was dirty dive bar... the bathroom was even sticky with a broken latch. The food was also mediocre. I'm not really sure why you charge $30 for your mediocre beef Rendang with plain rice. The ingredients to make that dish and the way you cooked that dish are definitely not $30 worth. Also, you call your restaurant "Indonesian-inspired" when your restaurant is, as I mentioned earlier, a dirty-looking dive bar atmosphere. Experience was definitely a let down. TL;DR: The service here is a buzz kill. After we sat down, we got water but then were not spoken to again for at least 10 minutes. That feels a bit ridiculous to me. Like, would have loved to be greeted and maybe get a debrief on wines, cocktails to start. But nope. Then, she finally comes over and asks if we want to get some drinks. We order and also put in some appetizers. She brings us wine & apps, but then literally sprints away and doesn't come back for another 10/15 mins. Like come on girl, give us SOMETHING. Wine was good though lol. But ya... We were very ready to order and honestly really hungry / excited. Finally, my mom flagged her down and we ordered. Got a whole bunch of stuff. Food was ok. Felt like it wasn't nearly as nice presentation / as much food as I saw in photos beforehand. Anyways, this review is to really call out the poor service that totally killed the vibe. Such a bummer considering it was our special night out while I was in town. Dija Mara needs to step it up with service considering their prices! Not very many tables either... come on guys! We had 2 issues with this restaurant. The restaurant windows open up to a busy street...the roar of motorcycles and cars passing by was annoying. The second issue was the portion size...we ordered grilled lamb satay, mie goreng and a bowl of coconut rice. The lamb skewers were appetizer sized portions, not more than 2 ounces of lamb per skewer. The mie goreng was a single person portion...very tasty, but the smallest serving of noodles in an Asian restaurant that I have ever seen in my lifetime...for $16! I have dined at Indonesian restaurants in San Francisco and Orange County and they offered far better value for the money than Dija Mara. read more

They are so attentive, knowledgable, and friendly. The building and interior itself is very unique and contemporary. We told our server from the start it was our first time trying this restaurant, and wanted to try several of their dishes. The reaction we had gotten from her was "Oh, oh you want to try that too?"
