I went to Dillard's in the Galleria and wow! What a difference to shopping at Macy's for suit pieces! I asked a male employee where I could find plus size apparel and was immediately directed to 3rd floor NW corner. Then I asked the clerk in that area for suits section and was shown what was available. The store didn't have a lot classic suits in stock there but they told me they could order for me or see if other stores had items. The clerk was super helpful and understood exactly that I needed a dark suit versus the light suits they had available there. I was also directed to the dress section, which had very nice conservative Calvin Klein dresses of which I purchased two. The clerk even reminded me of the 3 way mirror so I could get a good look and she was super helpful giving me her opinion when I asked about a dress. Unlike Macy's, which told me the plus size clothes was all over the women's section. I also bought spanx and was very happy with the service from the clerk in lingerie section. I had to buy an entire outfit so I also went to shoes section and was asked by various clerks if I needed assistance. I was greeted by a clerk who also spoke to me in Spanish and helped me look for the conservative classic pumps I needed. Finally I stopped at makeup particularly Lancôme and was immediately helped--Sónica was so sweet telling me I had a great complexion. I also asked for Mac makeup and she helped me look for my item and told me I could come in for a facial and foundation match. I will for sure be heading back when I have more time so I can have an updated makeup refresh. This experience at the Lancome counter was so much better than a previous poor experience years ago! Overall my shopping experience was great. The store was organized and the staff at every department were super helpful! I did spend quite a lot of money but I had a short amount of time to shop for a particular polished look (job interview) and everyone made it super efficient and were absolutely helpful! I bought a Travel Pro suitcase at Dillard's in the Galleria. The second trip, the zipper broke. TravelPro determined it was "faulty" and told me to return it to Dillard's. Dillard's said nope, it's been more than 30 days. Lesson: Don't buy suitcases or other things that are for occasional use at a department store. They don't have a policy that works for these things, and that must include any kind of table top appliance like a microwave or coffee maker. Very disappointed. This is definitely not the creme de la creme of Dillard's. It's conveniently located by the Galleria, carries a wide range of men's styles, and has great sales and good prices. The parking is super easy and not hard to find considering the area. The Dillard's itself is in pretty dismal condition. It immediately smells like a wet basement. The air is thick and the carpets are very old. It needs a facelift in a big way, and I hope that's in the works. If you leave your gherkin/pickle out for too long, then your Dill gets Hard, which is where Dillhard's got its name. This department store is not as famous as the likes of Macy's but it's similar. Prices are similar and you usually can't find too many great deals although once in awhile you'll find something amazing in here. You'll drop a lot of money in here (and I don't mean on the ground, although if you do, invest in a wallet), and that's probably the main reason we usually don't come. This one is right by the Galleria but they have similar prices and products to the one out in Willowbrook which we've been to a lot more. read more

the only reason this place is not getting a one star review is because of the very kind gentleman who helped me at the perfume counter. i don't remember his name but he was a very helpful and funny person who definitely should be working somewhere nicer. today i was shopping for a friend. my friend is a fan of estee lauder perfumes and brahmin bags. my experience at the perfume counter was great! the gentleman helped me and i got a free gift for my friend there. however, i was looking for the cupid collection of brahmin bags. i was given a look over by the employee who was working by the brahmin section, and immediately was given a strange look. she acted like i wasn't supposed to be there, hovered by me as i looked at the bags, and when i asked for help looking for the cupid collection, she said "that's it" pointing to the cherry red bags, which are NOT the pink and red cupid bags. i understand that i may not look the part of someone who shops at dillards--i had just finished grooming two dogs for show and was wearing a t shirt and a cardigan, so i was not runway ready, but i will never understand rudeness towards a customer. tldr: perfume counter is lovely. workers on the floor with bags, specifically brahmin, need to polish up on their customer service skills. read more

This place is UGH. I hadn't been here in years and don't plan on going back. First, I walked in and went to the bathroom. There were used tampons on the floor of the bathroom. The bathroom was a mess. It was like being at a club at 2am. Then we went to the men's section to look for dress shirts. We asked one man to measure my husband and he was about to, but then he saw someone with items in hand and he dropped us like a hot potato! Seriously, he saw a sale and he ran off. When the man wasn't ready to check out, he walked past us and said another salesperson would help us. He literally ran and yelled after another male customer with items in hand. He was a sniper! He would look for people who had items in hand and would drop empty handed customers. Awful awful customer service. We did end up with a nice lady who measured my husband. He ended up with two shirts. This woman acknowledged the sniper. We watched in disgust a few more of his sniper attacks. As I walked through the store, I noticed that many areas were in disarray. Ties were strewn about, and things were in disorder. As we walked through the cosmetics area to pick up some face wash for me, we noticed that displays for cosmetics were set up in the aisle where you would walk. My husband noticed one area and called it the 'Mac Disaster' referring to the Mac cosmetics. Mac cosmetics set up chairs and some type of display and it completely blocked the aisle. I actually felt dirty leaving this place and felt like I had been in a mini episode of 'Hoarders'. Dillards - get your act together. Clean your bathrooms. Clean up your displays. Brianna, the second floor clothes manager (long brown hair and probably mid-late 30s), is the most unreasonably confrontational person I have ever come across in retail. She is ugly, nasty, and disrespectful. Brianna, taking the hatred you have for yourself out on customers is a sad way to live your life. Hopefully you find genuine self-love one day because it's clear you don't have any. On 10/15, I purchased a pair of Antonio Melani heels for a wedding I was going to be in on 11/4. I only ever tried on the shoes twice. Once in store and once at home with my bridesmaids dress. The heels did not go with the style of the dress, so I put them back in the box to return after the wedding. I purchased different shoes from a different store and wore those to the wedding instead. On 11/20, I went back to Dillard's and tried to return the Antonio Melani heels I never wore out. Knowing it was after the 30-day return timeframe, I wasn't too hopeful that they'd accept the return but thought I'd try anyway given the fact that I no longer needed the shoes. The sales associate let me know he couldn't do the return because it was after 30-days, but he'd call the manager to see if he could maybe offer a gift-card or something. The women's shoes manager, Eddie, was unavailable, so unfortunately for me they had to call Brianna and I was left on the receiving end of Brianna's self-hatred that day. Brianna walked up already agitated and asked what the issue was. I let her know there wasn't an issue, I was just trying to return the shoes and that it was after 30-days. She roughly opened the box, made a disgusted face, and loud enough for the other customers to hear said the shoes had already been worn so she would not accept them. I laughed, because they had been sitting in the box on my shelf the whole time, and jokingly said I'll swear on my life, my mom's life, and the Bible that I had not worn the shoes. She shook her head in disgust and started picking up the shoes with two fingers as if they were something truly foul and said she saw creasing and that Dillard's didn't accept already worn shoes. I told her I had only worn them in the store when I tried them on and once at home with my dress. She said Dillard's would never sell shoes in that condition and I said well they did because that was how I bought them. She said that wasn't true because they washed their carpet daily. I said ok that doesn't change the fact that I never wore those shoes out. Then she made a whole production where she walked away from the counter and grabbed a floor model black pump and waved the bottom of the shoe in my direction and said let's look at this shoe. Does it look like it's been worn? And I said you picked a floor model that probably hasn't been worn with a black bottom unlike mine which has a tan leather bottom so I don't see your point. She walked back and roughly put my Antonio Melani heels back into the box and shoved them my way and said to have a nice day. By this point, other customers and the other sales associates were staring as she barked at me. All over a pair of shoes. How embarrassing for her. I called the store after I left to ask for Brianna's name and was put in touch with the store manager, Lina. Lina was apologetic for Brianna's incredibly disgusting behavior and said Brianna's delivery was unacceptable and that she'd speak with her. I let Lina know that if Brianna had simply looked at the shoes and said sorry I can't accept these or sorry it's after 30-days, then I would've just taken the shoes and left because I understood the policy. Lina kindly offered store credit for the shoes and repeatedly apologized for Brianna's disrespectful behavior. For Brianna to accuse me of wearing the shoes is one thing, but to make a whole production where she dramatically grabbed a different shoe off the display and waved it my way in front of other customers? Truly ugly and nasty. Just like Brianna's little hateful heart. I didn't go back for store credit because it's not even worth it. Never going back to this Dillard's again. read more

I've been shopping with Dillards for the past few years and have had no problem giving them my money for overpriced, high quality clothing. I had bought 2 Murano Oxford shirts for a job interview that I never got to wear, only to try on. I, thinking since I kept the tags and the receipt, I could return them as I have done In the past. But, on this day, a manager quite rudely said I couldn't return them and fabricated excuses as to why I can't return these items. Mainly becuase I took the tags off. So now, I'm down $100 on clothes that I will not wear. I could resell them but will definitely take a loss. Dillards lost a customer for I do not recommend spending your money where the company and the staff DOES NOT CARE ABOUT YOU. I would rather shop at Walmart. Poor customer service, poor customer care, and I'm highly disappointed knowing that in the eyes of Dillard's, I do not matter even though I've spent thousands in their establishments. If I could give zero stars I would. I see as I come to write a review, I'm not the only one who has had a bad experience at this store. I bought shoes for a wedding and changed my mind. Never wore them. Most stores have a 90-day return policy. I'm a teacher and a mom and have been having some health issues. I hadn't been able to get them back to the store. I was a few days past 30 days when I finally did, and I received the worst customer service. I waited a good amount of time in the shoe dept for a supervisor to come. The associate called twice. No one ever came. I was advised to go to customer service so I did. The supervisor inspected my shoes like I was a criminal. It was so obviously they had never been worn, not even in my house. He refused to give me a refund. I just don't understand. A little kindness keeps me a customer for life. I have had the opposite experience at Nordstrom. Top notch customer service. Dillard's never came to mind when I thought of places to go shopping at, that is UNTIL my wonderful mother decided to get an account there. At first I thought it was an old lady thing but let me tell you that each and every time I've accompanied her on her shopping sprees, I've ended up buying at least one outfit that I completely love. Also, I thought it would be super pricey but they have awesome sales that totally make the purchase worth it, especially considering the quality! This is by far my favorite place to shop for professional clothes too. You can find great suits and dresses. The entire Antonio Melani line they carry is gorgeous. I do have to say that customer service is pretty much non-existent. Not once have I been approached by anyone to help. Was looking for some furniture and Chandra was pretty awesome. He took the time to show us what he had and was more than happy to help all 5-8 times it took for us to finally purchase what we were looking for. Word for the wise, always talk to a sales person, and always ask what you options are, if its the best price, when things go on sale, etc etc.. There are always promotions.. And it doesn't hurt to ask! Parking at this place is pretty convenient when its not busy. There are parking lots on all 4 sides of the building. However, when the place is busy, you will end up driving around competing with the other 100+ cars trying to snag a spot.. Last tip, if you are coming off the 610S feeder, you can turn into the parking lot after the gas station and totally bypass going on Westheimer. I made that mistake last time and it took me 15min to get to the N Post Oak light and into the parking lot.. read more

It's clear that this store is really working to turn a profit as the isles and immediate shopping areas are crammed with clothes! However, such placement is appreciated in the shoe department. This is a go-to show department that my mother and I enjoy. We used to make the Macy's at Sharpstown (both has disappeared) our shoe mecca; however, this is the recent replacement. There is always a discovery to be made in this shoe department. I've began to notice that I need to slow down and become more of a female shopper as I seem to also find reasonable prices and sizes all throughout this store. I would like to add Spanx to my shopping list, but they are quite pricey here... The worst customer service I have ever experienced in a department store. After three bad experiences, I will no longer shop there. On one occasion, I wasn't able to try on clothes because the fitting rooms were locked and the only salesperson on the floor said she couldn't find anyone with a key! On another occasion, I was returning something and was told I had to go to the department where I bought it. After walking around the floor for several minutes, not able to find even one salesperson, I went up to customer service. The woman in customer service proceeded to scold me telling me that I should go down and return the clothes in the women's dept. When I said no, that there was no one there, she angrily did the return. This happened twice. In a world where customer service has escaped the big box retailers, Dillard's is a refreshing change. I purchased some pretty heavy items and the sales person showed me to the elevator and helped me one of the bags. She also offered to call someone to help me but I figured I could manage, maybe slowly but manage. Then I get to the lobby and a different employee on the elevator offered to help me at least to the door. I didn't accept the offer cuz I thought..why bother anyone when in an make it. Then I ran into a sales person that has helped my husband in the suits several times. He sees me struggling and said let me carry that to your car! I've been in another big department store walking to different levels to get a sales person to help me and here I've always had great service.. Way to go Dillard's for your great service! You were even the first store to provide easy returns without a receipt.. please support them to show them that providing service and having employees still matters to the consumer. read more

You know it's a bad sign when you are shopping with your mother, look up in the distance and see her speed-walking in the opposite direction. This happened to me last Saturday. She was almost in a sprint, I followed her for a bit, then she completely disappeared. I wondered if she had vanished into thin air; couldn't find her anywhere. Let me back up just a bit, I recently went shopping with my mom. We were in the Galleria-area and on the quest for shoes. (Yes the actual, stereotypical "shopping for shoes" thing that we females flock to like moths to a stereotype. No, we did not drink martinis afterwards, nor compare favorite episodes of some vapid television show.) Even though Nordstrom's was the early winner on this quest, we just had to verify by stopping in fake Macy's (Foley's) and fake Dillard's (Joske's). After looking at the shoe department at Dillard's, we browsed the rest of the store. Found out that they carry a large selection of Oilily. Awesome, but expensive. We also saw a sweater (decidedly non-Oilily) on a mannequin and as this was nowhere near the "for sale garments," my mother went to ask a salesperson where we could find the item. This is where mom's running through Dillard's comes into play. I had wandered into a nearby clothing department to look at a dress, while she went to the "BCBG area" of Dillard's. Long story short. Mom asked the employees standing in the department where she could find the sweater on the mannequin. The two girls in the section were busy talking on their cellphones. They told her they didn't work in Dillard's. She asked why they were standing behind the register. They said they worked in the BCBG section of Dillard's. My mom asked if that area was in Dillard's. They told her to go find someone in another area; this new person would be able to help her. My mom sped-walked to another area (here's where I lost her), and found a young employee hovering near the register. My mom was told, "It's over there, I think. Somewhere in the blue-green area." What I want to know is, why does Dillard's hire employees who don't care for the customers? Customer service at this Dillard's is always hit or miss. I never know how the employee is going to react. However, this was some of the worst customer service I've encountered anywhere in quite a while. It would seem to me that in this fiscally panicky time, we as consumers would be given excellent customer service. You know the entire, "We love you! Please spend your money with us. Please." Not the, "OMG! You just interrupted my four hour phone call." I'd been noticing that the brands, variety, and quality of clothing has been decreasing slowly over the past couple of years, why would I want to go someplace that would also treat me and my mother so rudely? My mom and I got the hint: go to Nordstrom's for quality and service, go to Dillard's and get punished. The one positive to this store is the parking garage. It's the best place to park if you want to shop on the Neiman's side of the Galleria...just watch out for the cars when crossing at the cross walk. read more
