    Stuffed Tofu

I happened to be in the area for lunch. I've been wanting to go here for several years but hadn't had the chance yet, and it did not disappoint. I had two large dim sum items and one medium. The highlight was the shrimp and chive dumplings, but the salted egg buns and stuffed tofu were also great. I've had lots of dim sum across the US, and this is up there with any place I've been in NYC or SF. Also great portions and prices, a clean and nice looking interior, and quick friendly service. Give it a try!

Update 12/28/2025 Went there with family in town on a Sunday afternoon. Place was quite busy as expected on a Sunday afternoon and especially on a holiday weekend. There was about 16 of us so we were seated in the "karaoke" room which has a gigantic lazy Susan that self rotates. Food overall was good as typical. Although the "wu kwok" (taro root fried ball" did not taste freshly made but more like from the freezer. The waitress was very good. The wait for the table was over 30 minutes as they had to get the room ready although it was not previously used that day.

Didn't have the best experience here. As they come around with the carts, the staff kept pushing our party to try items. By the time we checked out, several items we left on my ticket despite me not eating them. They were slightly resistant to remove and correct this. Food 3/5. I absolutely loved the refresher. One of the best I've had in the city Service 3/5

This dim sum spot was an interesting experience, but not one I'd rush back to. Be prepared -- they charge for everything, which wasn't clearly explained upfront and made the meal more confusing than enjoyable. The service setup was also hard to follow. Multiple servers came around offering appetizers, but getting an actual dedicated server to check on us or explain the menu took a long time. That lack of communication made ordering feel frustrating, especially for first-time diners. The food itself was pretty baseline nothing standout, but I will say it was hot and fresh, which is always a plus. Overall, it wasn't terrible, but between the confusing service flow, slow attention, and pricing structure, the experience didn't quite hit the mark. Some clearer explanations and more attentive service would go a long way.

Went to dinner Sunday, August 17th and our meal was super tasty. I enjoy supporting this restaurant as the food is consistent and delish! The service has always been cordial and efficient. The restaurant has been remodeled some since they placed fancy partitions to make some booths. The restaurant is decorated with Asian flair. We had stir fry cauliflower dish that was simple and flavorful. The beef flat noodles were very good with tender beef and perfect noodles. The Peking style pork was velvety and not too sweet. The walnut shrimp needed a few more walnuts but the shrimp and sauce were quite fabulous. We also ordered a tofu dish that was new to us. It had fried tofu, bok choy and other veggies. The gravy was light and completed the dish. Our first noodle dish was like a simple egg noodle or maybe it was some type of rice noodle. It was okay. We ordered some cheung fun, har gow, and siu mai. All great dim sum dishes. I am sure we will return as the food is awesome.

Great menu, fresh ingredients and true Chinese food (don't worry, they have your Americanized Chinese faves too). We started off with Sizzling Chicken and added some of my Dim Sum faves (Soup dumplings, BBQ Pork buns, Siu Mai). Added a Chinese broccoli and then a little dessert (sesame ball). The place gets a bit crowded after 6, but overall quick and helpful service. If you've never tried dim sum, this is a good spot to start.

Open on Xmas day. At 10 am which is An hour earlier than normal. And it was packed inside. Dim sum was pretty good. Cars outside said captain king. And I think for the area he's probably right. They are king. Even say a whole roasted pig there. They got boba too

Amazing rice noodle roll dish with a dash of chili crunch oil and maybe a little soy sauce.

Lord have mercy. I have been to this place dozens of times, and it stands alone in Memphis for audaciously China-endemic fare , folks and fun. Try Sundays 1:00 pm and the large restaurant is working alive with activity and food transactions as carts are wheeled around like a 5,000 square foot first class aircraft. Inside those carts reside an amazingly diverse array of items available for your purchase rendering your table's order sheet replete with stamps for the multitude of offerings you've sampled. When you throw in the proverbial towel and are ready to declare armistice there's no doubt there will be return.

BEST DUMPLINGS! I love this place and look for any excuse to visit. It's also fun to visit the local bookstore novel afterward and get a book! Or head to Penzeys. There's just a lot of stuff around here so I like to make a day of it and visit this place and a few other places. I hear they have karaoke in the back so I def wanna check that out sometime! I LOVE the dumplings here. They are so tasty and I want to try every dumpling they have. I've never heard of Tong Cho Shrimp but it was delicious. I also loved the chicken noodles. It sounded super basic but it tasted super delicious. I'd definitely try some more noodle dishes next time. The duck wasn't really that tasty. We ended up with a lot of bones in the meat part and I wasn't really that fond of the fried skin. I also wasn't fond of the Lobster Fried Rice but that's a personal preference- I don't like having to fight for my food. So both dishes required me to fight to get the meat either off the bone or out of the shell, which is why I didn't like either of them. No surprise that I loved the Broccoli and Beef as it is a childhood favorite and I seem to like it everywhere. However, the Chicken Broccoli we tried had a tasty flavor that worked really well with the chicken but for some reason didn't work as great with the broccoli for me. On another visit a lady came around with appetizers on a cart for people to grab. My friend got sesame balls and I got some sort of dumplings. The receipt said they were fried shrimp balls. They are my new favorite and I had to hold myself back from ordering more. The Kung Pao Chicken was ok but better with the chili oil they brought to the table.I think the one downside to this place is that they tend to put the entire table on one ticket. They can split it at the end but it does make things more complicated. I'll have to ask next time if it has to be on the same ticket at first or not. Another way around this is for everyone to just bring cash. To Try: All dumplings all noodle dishes Moo Goo Gai Pan Xianen Rice Noodles Fried Dumpling Loved: - Beef and Broccoli - Dumplings: Cilantro - Dumplings: Fried Shrimp Balls (NEW FAV) - Dumplings: Shrimp Haw Gow - Noodles: Beef with Rice Noodle (FAAAV!) - Noodles: Chicken with Pan Fried Noodles - Tong Cho Shrimp Liked: - Dumplings: Soup - Noodles: Stir Fried with Soy Sauce - Sesame Chicken - Soup: Egg Drop Ok: - Appetizer: Baked BBQ Pork Buns - Braised Pork with Preserved Vegetables - Bun: Pork - Chicken Broccoli - Chicken over Chinese Greens (bok choy) - Fish: Steamed Whole Cod - Kung Pao Chicken Disliked: - Appetizer: Sesame Balls - Appetizer: Spring Rolls - Fried Rice: Sticky Rice with Lobster - Noodles: Chicken Pan Fried - Peking Duck

We arrived as they opened at 11am and were able to get seated quickly. Their dim sum has carts that come to the table as opposed to no carts and ordering a la carte. Very simple decor and also had screens available for those who want to watch games. The dim sum did not disappoint. The shui mai was very good as were some of the fried items. The egg tart had an incredibly flaky crust. I understand why relatives who are locals like to frequent this location regularly.

Great for birthday parties!! They have a huge round table in their King Room that can comfortably fit 16 people. Food was delicious. We had an assortment of authentic Chinese food. Would highly recommend to all.

You know when you try a dish at a restaurant and from that point on, you judge every version of it against the best one you've ever had? Their spicy crispy tofu did exactly that. What's disheartening is that it's in Memphis, Tennessee and I live in Illinois. How am I supposed to convince my boyfriend to drive 16 hours round trip just for tofu?! Everything else was extremely well executed. Even the jasmine tea was excellent. We actually ended up leaving the city late the next day just so we could go back for lunch. It's that good. If your spice tolerance is low, definitely let them know this dish is spicy, as it should be! One recommendation: if you order the wood ear salad, get the cucumber salad as well and eat them together to balance your palate it's a total game changer. If nothing else, the spicy crispy tofu is an absolute must!!!

I am sure the staff had their hands full. Our server Daniel (name on ticket) was a complicated hot mess. He started out saying that we should have gone to Lao S.C., that it was better food? Never saw that coming. He said he used to work there too - which I wondered why he quit such a new establishment after such a short run? Then it hit me: I began by saying that we generally get the same things (mapo tofu or the cumin lamb - excellent choices), and I wanted to try something different? I was interested in the spicy whole grilled fish in pot! He told me that I wanted the fried chicken sautéed in peppers... his favorite. I said no, I really wanted to try the whole fish. He continues insisting I wanted the chicken dish? 3 more times... and I began suspecting maybe something was amiss, perhaps freshness issue with the fish - I relented and went with the chicken which ultimately was disappointing. Hard cooked chicken scraps edging on burnt tossed not in a sauce but in handfuls of dried peppers. Dry-fried. Very uneventful, hard and dull. Wife went with the shrimp in milk sauce which was extraordinarily delicious. Plump and savory jumbo shrimp in a creamy almost walnut sauce. We ordered a pear Sake from Oregon (which he told us was from Japan), and the spicy dumplings as an appetizer. The dumplings were tender and homemade which we liked but were not overwhelmed with. The Sake was light with a hint of asian pear went well with dinner. Still wishing I was more demanding on the whole fish (or) took his former recommendation and went to the other place?

Little Petals pops up on Yelp as a possibility. I read the reviews and scrolled through the pictures. After looking at the location, I realized it was only an 8-minute drive from where we were. Why not, right? The restaurant is easy to miss. It sits right on the corner in an old shanty building nestled in the middle of downtown Memphis. The furniture and décor were of a standard Chinese eatery, nothing special; but the employees were warm and welcoming, greeting me with hellos and smiles. I got the black pepper chicken that came with a spring roll. I ordered an extra side of pork egg rolls because that's usually my go to. Everything was fantastic! It gives you the taste of that old school Chinese food you used to have as a kid, but better quality. The chicken was moist, flavorful and peppery. The egg rolls had the perfect amount of crispy crunch---they seemed handmade as well! Pricing is a little higher from when I was a kid, but you still won't break the bank here! As I started to think that great Chinese food was not an option for Memphis, Little Petals showed up at the right time and made me a believer!

You know what, first impressions the Hong Kongnese owners seem like as*holes with that Ronny Chieng "Give me your money and f*ck off vibes.." but hey, you know what, they get a pass.. And so it was at that moment, having driven my rig into the WhiteHaven Plaza, making sure I didn't piss off the patrolling security and walking into this forgotten time capsule that I realized....what is this place ....social security and family help services....a dimly lit lamp of an Asian Pawn Shop owner taking orders at a window with a warm spot light on him, with green hues around...a ton of black people....hear me out, this is culture shock.. I've lived in South Dallas before, I've been around black folk...but to be the only Asian customer in line, and for the entirety of the 1 hours to 2 hours there not seeing any white people....that's a first! Well...come to think of it, living in Los Angeles over the decades...never really venture out to Compton or Crenshaw back in the days to have Chinese food, so if this many Black People all line up and spend their hard earned monies on Hong Kong Restaurant.....must be some DAMN good Chinese food. And then I move onto the holy grails....Hong Kong Restaurant House Fried Rice and Kung Pao Chicken! Since I'm a traveling blue collared tourist, and don't really get to experience the dining scene in a town like Memphis unless I'm at a nearby Logistics Hub experiencing some down time and I get to explore town....having not tried any other Chinese restaurant and this being the only other fried rice I've tried between the states of Oklahoma, Arkansas and Tennessee....... Hong Kong's House Fried Rice is singlehandedly probably the best Fried Rice I've had since my days back in 2018s working up in Greeley Colorado with a Guangzhou Super Chef and up in Monterey California with another old timer Chinese Chef when they used to make staff meals and you thoroughly enjoyed the fried rice, every overnight grain, coated with msg, soy sauce, scallions. Onions, garlic, thrown into a Wok with High Bursting Flames, charring each grain, giving each grain that solidarity, smoking flavor....ya, this is the type of fried rice you can only experience with true OG Chinese Chefs, or at the very least, the owners need to know the elements that goes into making genuine Cantonese soy sauce fried rice. Absolute chef's kiss. Here in a worn down Chinese restaurant, with owners that really just DGAF, but they kept the soul of the food intact, they look toward retirement, maybe look towards getting out of there, but because they make Good food, and they love money more, and people just keep lining up for takeout here making Panda Express look amateur....I'm gonna say it...Uncle and Auntie are the most low key millionaires...... As for the Kung Pao Chicken, a tad bit too much gravy, but I finished it all in two sittings. Americanized Kung Pao Chicken, way better than Pandas. So to all the tourists on Yelp Questioning this place. Crazy part is I'm not opposed to giving them another shot with different items it will be a good while if I do decide to return but my initial experience wasn't the best food wise and although cheap it was a waste of money because it all went into the trash

The egg fu young patti is a fluffy egg loaded with shrimp and bean sprouts, smothered in thick brown gravy. Fried rice with onions and broccoli florets. Babeee, this meal did not disappoint. We called it in, and left the house to come pickup. It was still hot and moist once we made it back home. And it was under $20.. I'm a repeat customer. I definitely recommend.

Went in for an early New Year's Eve dinner. This place has been here for years; I see it as an…read moreeast Memphis institution. The inside is eclectic, it's not fancy...though this isn't a bad thing. It's a nice escape from the run-of-the-mill Chinese take-out places (where you can eat inside also), it's not trying to be corporate-flashy. Best I can describe it is authentic to the people who own the joint. And I like it; a couple of fish tanks, some kitsch, the odd neon signs inside (over the bar, on the west wall towards the rear), the unused area to the right of the bar. Somethings work, something's are out of place, but it's a testament to the longevity of the location. So the food: the value is great. The apps were middle-of-the-road (sweet fire shrimp, spicy cucumbers (sans spicy but ponzu), spring rolls. The stand out was the hot and sour soup. Nothing really novel about it, but exactly what I was looking for. As the duck sauce was a bit sweet for the spring rolls to my liking, I found it necessary, and delicious, to dunk the spring rolls in the hot and sour soup. The Scientist had her usual kung-pao chicken. Really good, if not a bit basic (though the slight notch up of heat from the Szechuan peppers was appreciated). I went with the Peking duck. It's the most expensive thing on the menu (as it is everywhere else), but worth it. This is going to feed 2-3 or a big meal there and a healthy portion to take home. The skin crispy, the meat moist. Bones removed, but for the wings and thigh bones...it was appreciated. Served with Chinese pancakes and onions and a delightful hoisin. Highly recommended. The staff was delightful. Efficient (if not a little too efficient; we had two servers ask for our order), attentive, hospitable. We don't really have a go-to for Chinese food. Despite being out in Gtown, this may be our new default for Chinese eat-in or take-out.

I stopped in after my Doctors appointment since it was on the way and I'd heard so many good things…read moreabout it. The staff were very friendly and the restaurant was nice and clean from my vantage point. They had a buffet but I wasn't in the mood for that. I placed an order for the egg drop soup, 1 egg roll, 1 spring roll and wings. My food was ready pretty quickly and I was on my way. Once I made it home, I tried the spring and egg roll they were both solid nothing special but good. Next, I tried the egg drop soup and I enjoyed it, especially since I was under the weather. The wings were last and they were huge! I wonder how large was that chicken to produce wings that big! I was not a fan of the chicken but I would go back to try other items on the menu and I did enjoy the soup.
