Whenever I'm home in the E, Dim Sum King on Mission & Persia became my new favorite place for easy and quick Chinese food and dim sum. There's plenty of seating for folks who opt to dine in. Service is pretty straightforward, especially when you know what you want. I ordered a two item combo with some tasty tofu and string beans with fishcake. I decided to pair my two item entree with half steamed rice and half fried rice. I also got a medium box of beef with bittermelon. Each dish did not disappoint because it is tasty, well sauteed and not overly saucy. Don't expect a lot of meat on the entrees, but I think it would still fill anyone up. Stumbled upon this spot on a Sunday morning while heading toward the nearby flea market and was relieved to find a place that made grabbing dim sum so easy. No line, clean space, fair prices, and I was back in my car within two minutes, bag in hand. It was simple to park at that early hour but the street does get pretty chaotic later in the day so the timing worked out perfectly. I went with a couple of my usual go-to items just to gauge the quality like har gow and beef siu mai. Both were solid and held up well for a quick bite. Good size, no surprises, and similar to what you'd expect from a dependable Chinatown takeout spot. Only thing holding it back from being excellent was that everything was cold. Even though they were sitting in the steamers the food didn't come out hot which was a letdown since I started eating them right after leaving. My hubby and I got some dimsum to go from Dim Sum King on Mission and everything was really good! We got the classics: siu mai, har gao, ham sui gok, wu gok, shrimp cheung fun, and some potstickers and we were extra satisfied with lots of leftovers. We also got dan tats here for our baby shower back in January. They used to be $1.50 each but now they are $1.80--inflation amirite? No complaints though bc they are so good with a flaky crust! 2025 update. There is a trade off when coming in at 7:30am. Some stuff are not available but you get fresher dim sum. That was the case for me this morning. The turnip cakes were straight out of the steamer. They didn't have the Chinese donuts available to go along with the porridge. Really liked the lotus leaf and the Dan tat. Lotus leaf was flavorful, with good amount of filling. Dan tat was nice and yolky with a flaky crust, though on the sweeter side. Taro bao was good and different - fluffy bun and good tasting taro paste with chunks inside. Custard bao was fluffy but had very little filling that was a bit overcooked. Reviewing from when I came here in December 2023 - the place was called Good Orchard/ Fortune Bakery then. A solid dim sum spot! I got a ton of food for a pot luck my friends and I were hosting. THE WAIT Not too busy at 11am on the Friday before Christmas, but there were other customers coming in and out. I caused a bit of a line since I made such a big order. They were out of Portuguese Egg Tarts. THE COST About $63 for 12 dumplings, 9 buns, 8 fried bread stick (chinese donuts/you tiao), 6 egg tarts. Cash only. THE FOOD Fried Bread Stick ($2.50 each) - 3.5 stars (not made fresh, they fry frozen ones, but it's not bad) Egg tart ($1.50 each) - 3.5 stars, decent stuff, but wish they had Portuguese ones. 4.5 STARS Dim summing. Remember the days...not too long ago where you roll deep and can build a fortress on your table...stack on stack of bamboo baskets...and pay $25-$30 a head after tip? These days, it's more like $50+ a head for dim sim and nobody be fighting for the bill no more. You'll find me in the bathroom when the bill comes. J/k! Most of us are on budget these days but I find dim sim takeout joints don't hit the same way as a sit down resto. The quality isn't the same esp the wrappers and rice noodles (both are often too thick) but that's the norm because you're paying lower prices. Enter Dim Sum King. Although I only scratched the surface, they may be the most solid dim sum takeout in the south side of the city (Excelsior, Portola, Ingleside area). They took over Good Orchard Bakery (same phone #) and are *not* related to Dim Sum King in Daly City or in Sunnyvale. Open for takeout and limited dine-in. No delivery. M E N U Dim sum, dumplings, buns, noodle rolls, individual pies (chicken pie, bbq pork puff, curry puff), etc. They're still ramping up so limited offerings for now. Although they have a posted menu of congee, rice + noodle dishes, and HK noodle soups, they're not available yet. Prices are higher than other dim sum takeout spots in the area but I find the quality better. CASH ONLY. F O O D * Har Gow: Shrimp Dumplings (3 pc - $3.80) // 4 Stars The wrapper was soft and chewy (pic makes the wrapper looked thicker than it is), and it was generously filled with firm shrimp. Shrimp literally spilled out when I took a bite. * Siu Mai: Pork Dumplings (3 pc - $3.50) // 3.5 stars Standard, meaty pork dumpling. I believe this one doesn't have any shrimp but confirm with staff if you have an allergy. * Shrimp & Leek Dumplings (3 pc - $3.80) // 4 stars Big bois that were packed with fresh shrimp and mildly sweet leeks. * Shrimp & Chive Dumplings (3 pc - $3.80) // 3.5 stars Similar to the har gow but with cilantro and the wrapper was thicker. * Shrimp Cheong Fun ($5.50) // 5 stars Best in show, the noodle rolls were filled with two plump shrimp per roll. The noodle texture was on-point and rivals the ones found at sit-down dim sum restos...glossy, smooth, chewy, and slightly translucent. The accompanying sweet soy was awesome. * Steamed Spare Rib w/ noodle rolls (Small - $5.55) // 4.5 stars Kinda scant on the steamed spare ribs that needed more black bean sauce for oomph. But...the noodle rolls were great - deliciously soft, chewy, and glossy. The picture doesn't do it justice. * Baked Char Siu Bao ($2) // 3 stars Their take on snow mountain bun made famous by Tim Ho Wan in HK that formerly held a Michelin star. Think char siu bao with a sweet, crisp cookie top similar to a bolo bao (pineapple bun). The bao texture was soft and fluffy but the char siu needed more salt to balance the sweetness of the cookie top. Personally, I rather pay more for a more char sui filling. S E R V I C E Cordial. Chinese new year dinner was a bust. Things have been declining at DSK since the late 2000s, but they're pretty dismal now. All of their high chairs are broken so you can put your kid in one, but there are no straps. Food still comes out quickly, but it's made sloppily. For instance, we ordered the lobster e mein, and the noodles were wet and dripping with salty sauce. They were also cooked for far too long and very limpy. We ordered a cabezon done three ways, and the fish tasted like it had been in the tank dying away for the past week. We used to love this place when we were young, but the quality of food just isn't there anymore. read more

We moved to Daly City from the Outer Sunset five years ago and it took us this long to find a dim sum take out place we like that's close by. This place opened recently so we are stoked. Foods : Okay Service : I am not happy. I took time off from work to place a large order on Thursday, paid for it and let them know I would be there on Saturday at 8 am. I came in, nothing was ready, was told to wait another 15 minutes. I can't really wait so I picked something that was ready and in the display showroom. At the end, the cashier told me because I changed my order so I owed her $ 1.20 and demanded cash. I don't have case at hand so took out one eggroll. The whole thing was just not a good experience for me. If I were to work there or the businee owner, I would keep the customer happy by at least say I am sorry to make you late for your business meeting. I would also try to problem solve and probably would not demand $ 1.20 cash for the price differences. Doing the business, it is important to keep the customers engage with positive experiences. It is a smart business move. $ 1.20 is small but makes an impact on someone's experience about being late and yet being demanded extra pay despite going there and paid 2 days before. read more

I give this place a 3.5 for now because the dimsum was loaded with filling but the skin was on the thicker side. Then again, I can't complain since it's literally half of the price for sit down dim sum so this place will do the trick when I'm craving for it. I got hao gao, su mai, chives and shrimp, bbq pineapple bun and chicken steam bun. Hao gao and su mai were giant size and pretty solid. I loved the bbq pineapple bun because the texture was perfect! The rest were only okay but not great. Their milk tea was pretty strong and I liked it. However, it seems like they served it hot while I thought it was cold. Next time, I need to ask if they have it iced. Note: They have a freezer section of all their dim sum, bao and wonton. I thought they were all fairly priced and I will grab them next time to review. The shrimp dumplings (har gow), shrimp and coriander dumplings, and pork dumplings (siu mai) were huge and tasty and moderately priced. We wanted the beef rice roll, but they were sold out and it was only after 1pm. They were also sold out on their egg tarts so didn't get to try it. Also ordered the deep fried dumpling, sesame balls and steamed chicken sticky rice. Lastly, we ordered their steamed pork ribs with rice rolls and combination chow mein. Both were good but the chow mein was swimming in oil. We ordered a milk tea but the nice guy at the counter forgot so I hope that I wasn't charged twice. Prices were reasonable but in the midst of not being able to get the steamed beef rolls, I forgot to order steamed chicken feet. Not sure if they have that! Picked up dim sum here on a Friday morning and loved it! No wait or line. For 4 people, I ordered: SAVORY Har gow (x2): 5* Shrimp rice roll (x2): 5* This and the har gow were standout dishes and household favorites. Lotus leaf chicken rice: 4* Baked char siu bun (x2): 4* Loved the slightly sweet crispy topping on these. Siu mai (x2): 3* Least favorite dish here. Texture was off. Small portions and not as tasty as other takeout dim sum spots. SWEET Red bean mochi: 5* So good, I would come back just for these. Sesame balls: 3.5* There is a sign stating that they accept credit cards with a $20 purchase minimum but I paid with cash. Ambience and service are as expected for a simple, casual takeout dim sum spot. I'd recommend knowing everything you want before starting to order as they seem to appreciate efficiency. Great addition to the neighborhood. Haven't tried everything but they have 2 of my go-to items for a great price. Egg tarts for a $1.50/each and sesame balls with a 3 for $3. A few seats inside but it is more of grab & go situation. Works in their favor as this place is conveniently located by the 14R bus stops. Whether you're on the way home or to work, it is easy to make a quick stop inside. You'll be right back out before the next bus arrives. I've been served by the same lady the few times I came in. Congee: 4/ 5 - Similar to homemade! Ordered a small container of the congee (Chinese porridge), which came with century egg (preserved egg), a nice portion of pork, and the perfect saltiness. - My palette may have changed, but I stopped liking century egg in my congee in mid-end of my childhood. However, it added a super pleasant taste to this congee, with slices just small enough to add the right amount of distinct flavor/ texture that makes up century eggs. Great overall for trying to heal my sick self! Pineapple Char Siu Bun: 3.5/5 - They made the "pineapple" crust in the way I like it for this bun crossbreed, but it needed a bit more sweetness to contrast from the char siu. - Char siu had the right amount of salt. Would've loved a itty bit more meat, but it's fine as is, still. - The bun is was a good size, and the texture of the actual bread itself was good as well.
