    2025 update. There is a trade off when coming in at 7:30am. Some stuff are not available but you get fresher dim sum. That was the case for me this morning. The turnip cakes were straight out of the steamer. They didn't have the Chinese donuts available to go along with the porridge. They offered to make me a fresh Chinese donut but I didn't want to wait 10 minutes. The baked goods, dim sum and hot food are solid at Dim Sum King.

    Really liked the lotus leaf and the Dan tat. Lotus leaf was flavorful, with good amount of filling. Dan tat was nice and yolky with a flaky crust, though on the sweeter side. Taro bao was good and different - fluffy bun and good tasting taro paste with chunks inside. Custard bao was fluffy but had very little filling that was a bit overcooked. Prices were good as well.

    Everything a no frills dim sum place should be. The prices are good - the price to quality ratio is excellent. Came here for a quick to go brunch, the beef noodles were excellent and probably the best dish. Steamed pork bun was very tasty and would definitely get again.

    Dim Sum King is a go-to spot for authentic Hong Kong-style dim sum. They make their dim sum in-house, and you can really taste the freshness in every dish. The service is friendly and efficient, the portions are generous, and the prices are a great value for what you get. If you're craving classic, well-made dim sum, this place is definitely worth a visit.

    Reviewing from when I came here in December 2023 - the place was called Good Orchard/ Fortune Bakery then. A solid dim sum spot! I got a ton of food for a pot luck my friends and I were hosting. THE WAIT Not too busy at 11am on the Friday before Christmas, but there were other customers coming in and out. I caused a bit of a line since I made such a big order. They were out of Portuguese Egg Tarts. THE COST About $63 for 12 dumplings, 9 buns, 8 fried bread stick (chinese donuts/you tiao), 6 egg tarts. Cash only. THE FOOD Fried Bread Stick ($2.50 each) - 3.5 stars (not made fresh, they fry frozen ones, but it's not bad) Egg tart ($1.50 each) - 3.5 stars, decent stuff, but wish they had Portuguese ones. Shrimp Dumpling (3/$3.80) - 4 stars Leek Shrimp Dumpling (3/$3.80) - 4 stars Pineapple Bun ($1.50 each) - 4 stars Mochi Bun ($1.50 each) - 4 stars BBQ Pork Bun ($2 each) - 4 stars, make sure to get the crunchy ones!

    4.5 STARS Dim summing. Remember the days...not too long ago where you roll deep and can build a fortress on your table...stack on stack of bamboo baskets...and pay $25-$30 a head after tip? These days, it's more like $50+ a head for dim sim and nobody be fighting for the bill no more. You'll find me in the bathroom when the bill comes. J/k! Most of us are on budget these days but I find dim sim takeout joints don't hit the same way as a sit down resto. The quality isn't the same esp the wrappers and rice noodles (both are often too thick) but that's the norm because you're paying lower prices. Enter Dim Sum King. Although I only scratched the surface, they may be the most solid dim sum takeout in the south side of the city (Excelsior, Portola, Ingleside area). They took over Good Orchard Bakery (same phone #) and are *not* related to Dim Sum King in Daly City or in Sunnyvale. Open for takeout and limited dine-in. No delivery. M E N U Dim sum, dumplings, buns, noodle rolls, individual pies (chicken pie, bbq pork puff, curry puff), etc. They're still ramping up so limited offerings for now. Although they have a posted menu of congee, rice + noodle dishes, and HK noodle soups, they're not available yet. Prices are higher than other dim sum takeout spots in the area but I find the quality better. CASH ONLY. F O O D * Har Gow: Shrimp Dumplings (3 pc - $3.80) // 4 Stars The wrapper was soft and chewy (pic makes the wrapper looked thicker than it is), and it was generously filled with firm shrimp. Shrimp literally spilled out when I took a bite. * Siu Mai: Pork Dumplings (3 pc - $3.50) // 3.5 stars Standard, meaty pork dumpling. I believe this one doesn't have any shrimp but confirm with staff if you have an allergy. * Shrimp & Leek Dumplings (3 pc - $3.80) // 4 stars Big bois that were packed with fresh shrimp and mildly sweet leeks. * Shrimp & Chive Dumplings (3 pc - $3.80) // 3.5 stars Similar to the har gow but with cilantro and the wrapper was thicker. * Shrimp Cheong Fun ($5.50) // 5 stars Best in show, the noodle rolls were filled with two plump shrimp per roll. The noodle texture was on-point and rivals the ones found at sit-down dim sum restos...glossy, smooth, chewy, and slightly translucent. The accompanying sweet soy was awesome. * Steamed Spare Rib w/ noodle rolls (Small - $5.55) // 4.5 stars Kinda scant on the steamed spare ribs that needed more black bean sauce for oomph. But...the noodle rolls were great - deliciously soft, chewy, and glossy. The picture doesn't do it justice. * Baked Char Siu Bao ($2) // 3 stars Their take on snow mountain bun made famous by Tim Ho Wan in HK that formerly held a Michelin star. Think char siu bao with a sweet, crisp cookie top similar to a bolo bao (pineapple bun). The bao texture was soft and fluffy but the char siu needed more salt to balance the sweetness of the cookie top. Personally, I rather pay more for a more char sui filling. S E R V I C E Cordial. A M B I A N C E Newly renovated, bright and low key with several tables for dine-in. P A R K I N G Challenging street parking. Overall, Dim Sum King is a great addition to the area and IMO, a cut above their competitors. 4.5 stars rounded up for a new local small business.     This is the usual dim sum dive that you would find in San Francisco but the quality of dim sum and the prices are solid. Orders are around $3.80 for three pieces and $1.50 for one piece. There are a few small tables, but I would do take out for sure for best enjoyment at home with a pot of jasmine tea. We moved to Daly City from the Outer Sunset five years ago and it took us this long to find a dim sum take out place we like that's close by. This place opened recently so we are stoked. Service can be slow since they only had one person working the counter the two times we went. English OK.

This is our "official" dim sum option for weeknight take out. Personal favorites for me are always going to be the salt/pepper wings, the steamed pork buns, the crystal shrimp dumplings, and the scallion pancakes. My wife loves the soup dumplings, the shu mai. We could eat those dishes every week until we die pretty much, they are reliably good and comforting. Particular shout out on the pork buns though because they are just the absolute best consistency from a filling/bun standpoint. Soft, pillowy, they are glorious. I used to get pork buns from Good Mong Kok Bakery, but tbh, this is about 10x better. The soup dumpling also are quite good, I like the spicy ones but the black truffle is defintely worth it for the occasional splurge. They give you the red vinegar for it too which not all places do. Everything one needs to enjoy. I haven't been in person so I couldn't speak for the service or the location, but if you want a spot that delivers on time and often includes items for free (the pork buns are now free for orders over $50), this is great value and just great food. We ordered a bunch of dishes to share, and several really stood out. The spicy tendon was fantastic, shredded paper thin and swimming in a classic spicy sauce. The spicy lamb dumplings were another highlight, with an incredibly thin wrapper and a super flavorful and not gamey at all lamb filling. I also loved the stir fried rice cakes, which were sliced thin enough to avoid that overly chewy texture, and the stir fried noodles Shanghai style were classic and simple in the best way, with big chunks of cabbage and meat and just executed really (the chefs clearly have some serious wok skills!). Not everything we ordered was an absolute knockout as the vegetable dishes could use a bit more flavor and seasoning, but everything overall was good, and the portions across the board were very generous. The desserts were a last-minute decision and I am so glad we went for them. The lava custard buns were fluffy and amazing, with a molten salted egg custard inside, and the sesame balls had a satisfyingly crispy exterior that gave way to a perfectly chewy interior and sweet red bean filling. The value here is also excellent. We left absolutely stuffed and spent around $30 per person, which felt like a great deal for how much food we got and how much we enjoyed it. Highly recommend!

I've DJed hundreds of Chinese style banquet wedding receptions and the staff at Palette Tea House are always on point with their food and service. Their staff is friendly, professional, and very easy to work with, which makes a big difference as a vendor in the wedding industry. They consistently provide great service, a welcoming atmosphere, and amazing food. I've also eaten at this location a couple of times with my family, and the food has always been really good! Service 4/5: pretty efficient. You don't get a dedicated waiter and we had to try to flag down someone if we needed anything. However they are generally friendly and efficient when you get them.

Steering clear of the pork XLB, the tom yum has an incredibly savory soup base with the eye-catching red wrappers. Couldn't quite taste the coconut broth, but was still equally rich and savory. Would definitely order this and the lamb dumplings again. My biggest hesitation about coming back is the recent price hike (between Feb/Mar and July 2026).
