Came here using a $13 GROUPON deal (lunch buffet for 2), includes fountain drinks and coffee. They charge tax on top of that...so probably about $15. What you get is worth the Groupon, not sure if the regular price is worth it. IIt had plenty of salads, veggies, rice, and meat. The meat is on the dry side. There is a basket for your own stash of bread. The pulled meat and gyro meat was good. We were disappointed not to see the pita bread that we're use to. Hummus was good, but on the salty side. Their cucumber sauce was runny, but there was another sauce that tasted better. They had 2 soups...tried the lentil one...not a fan. Looks like they only had 1 dessert item, but didn't get a chance to try it. Might consider this place again.....all you can eat gyro meat, rice, and bread is a good enough deal for me. This location is located at Royal Ln and N MacArthur next to the Race gas station. As we stepped in , we were a little confused on whether to wait for someone to help us get seated because there were hardly any staff in the restaurant with no one at the front desk. We noticed someone was playing with the phone who was actually the staff there. We were a little hesitant to ask if the person was working there but the staff never bothered to come up to check if we needed something. So there goes the 1 star of my 5 star review. To talk on the most important item which is the food, I must say that the varieties they had in their buffet was too many. Every single item from the pita bread and Hummus till the kebabs and rice tastes delicious. Even the soups were pretty good. They also had three dessert dishes. The price of the buffet was a 11.99$ for lunch and 12.99$ for dinner. I don't know why the dinner rates start at 4pm so Yelpers watch out. They also have To Go options for 6.99$. Sadly, I think Dimassis is in the process of pricing themselves out of business. The price is currently $19.39 + tax per person on weekends, which makes it a very expensive option for anyone with kids or elderly parents or members who don't intend to gorge themselves. I believe a buffet business model depends on lots of customers to amortize costs and ensure fresh food is being placed out, and I don't think most people are going to pay this. This place used to be packed, but on a Sunday at lunch time it was mostly empty. Even worse than the buffet prices are the to go prices. It's literally WAY more expensive to get food to go than to order the buffet. Expect to pay around $25 to $30 per person if you fill up a plate to go. I generally enjoy Dimassi's food for a quick, relatively cheap fix of buffet Mediterranean food. However, the lack of safety enforcement is unsettling, even during non-peak hours. * Biggest one for me: please proactively enforce customers to wear masks when they are at the buffet bar. Two men from different tables nonchalantly, with no mask, served themselves food at the bar. * Tables weren't cleaned quickly, so you had to sit at tables you didn't want. Another single eater had to eat at the opposite end of my table because other empty ones were dirty. It makes you wonder how clean the tables are you sit at. * Some of the staff were wearing their masks under their nose. I later saw same person who wore the mask properly. Just needs to be consistent. * I wish the door was left open to let fresh air in, and there were more sanitizer available. The only good thing is that customers were pretty consistent in wearing gloves when they got their food. I ate quickly and skipped dessert. Tabouli: FRESH FROM THE FORBIDDEN GARDEN: The defining flavor of this dish is the parsley and merciless garlic, but they have tamed its domineering flavor. Refreshing is an understatement and this dish is perfect to complement the grilled meats and cleanse the palette. Roasted Cauliflower: ROASTED HEAVEN: Aside from being aesthetically pleasing with the copper roast marks on the alabaster white branches, the roasting gave this cauliflower strong, savoury flavours. Yum! A great go-to for a healthy and delicious meal. Really any type of eater will find something they love here--gluten free, dairy free, vegetarian, whatever. You can't go wrong with any of the eggplant dishes (this is making me hungry!) I love to fill up a container on my way home from work so I'll have a yummy meal when I get home. I don't know why, but the food seems to be higher quality (or maybe better prepared) than a different location that is closer to my house, even though they obviously use the same recipes. This is the best food I've had on my weeklong Dallas business trip. I came because I love Mediterranean food, and I was intrigued by a buffet. The food was really wonderful. From appetizers to desserts, there is a great variety of options here. The food was fresh, and every bite was delicious. I began by creating a mezza for myself. There were a few different styles of hummus, a delicious, smoky babaganoush, lots of cold salads, freshly made falafel, and several flavorful flatbreads. The entrees were also great: there were too many to remember, but they ranged from mansaf to kufta to kebabs to gyro. There were beautifully grilled vegetables and roasted potatoes. I would have loved to have tried everything, but my stomach ran out of room. Besides, I really wanted to taste the variety of desserts. Besides lots of fruit, there was halwa, baklava, rice pudding, and some delightful jam cookies. The tab for my meal, including beverage, was around $16 at dinner time. I will definitely return on my next Dallas trip! ---------- With such a glowing review, why four stars instead of five? Dimassi is definitely one my ultimate favorites when it comes to Mediterranean cuisine! I come here at least once every couple of months. The quality of the food is amazing and it surprises me every time. The restaurant also is VERY consistent and has never let me down. Some of my favorite buffet items would include the garlic butter sauce, the chicken noodle soup, the pita bread, the grilled chicken breasts/thigh and all of the vegetable salad items. Actually, I pretty much love everything here lol. I've been to Afrah's and the other Mediterranean restaurants, but they don't compare to Dimassi's at all. I bought a groupon to this place to check out their food. You still have to pay taxes after the Groupon. They offered a variety of salads and meat options as well as vegeterian options. We were able to try a few items off their buffet line. The pita bread and hummus were really good. The gyro mean was tender but could have used more flavor. The falafel was really good and fresh. Their chicken was a little on the dry side, but it was flavored really well. The rices were perfect, not over or under cooked. As for the desserts, the rice pudding was my favorite and the baklava was really good. The ambience reminded of a noisy school cafeteria, and the food was average. I'll come back. read more
