A 2 star review isn't fair, I'd say Dimitri's deserves a 2.5 star. The reason I've given Dimitri's such a low rating is plain and simple, their prices are just way too high. The way the pricing is on the menu, any way I order I always end up spending at least $8-9 without a drink. For two people, it's usually around $25. Keep in mind this is just nothing special, greasy, fast food. The positive; the owner and workers of Dimitri's have always been friendly. If Im going to pick up something quick, for that price, I've started getting mexican food instead. I have heard so many good things about this place that I had to try it. I heard the rib tips in the Gyro cheeseburger were great. Great food the gyros are the best. I grew up on Pero brothers butt new ownership, ran that place to the ground. Dimitris is my new favorite place to go to. Especially the owner. I called him old timer. He is down to earth. You can talk to him about anything. You can tell he's very proud of his food and I have to agree. It is all really good. My husband introduced me to Dimitris and let's just say I got hooked. Their garlic fries are delicious and you get so much. We've been going a lot since we've been quarantined. Their other food is good too. I've had the wings with sauce on the side. Their bbq sauce is really good!! Sometimes when we want a snack we will order just garlic fries and share between the both of us. We put in a large order one night and they offered us a few sodas free of charge. They have good service and given the circumstances right now they are keeping everything clean. After each customer they sanitize their hands and have the clear shield by their register. If you're touching the counter where it's not shielded they are cleaning that as well. No need to worry about germs in this food place. read more

Ordered three sandwiches on 10-23-2020 and they were all horrible. Paid $26 dollars and change for complete BS ! One didn't even have the traditional tomatoes at all. On one we asked for extra sauce and onions and you couldn't find the onions and barely sauce on top. When I tried calling back to the restaurant they picked up then hung up. Called again before their closing time and the phone rang about 20 times with no answer. You will never have to worry about a dime of my good money being spent with you ever again!!! Dimitri may not have the "best" food, but his food is pretty damn good. He offers a big menu of pretty much whatever you could possibly want: beef, chicken, burgers, fish, sausage, and of course, gyros. Probably not the best place to eat if you're a vegetarian or someone trying to watch what they eat, but if you're not either of those, you'll certainly enjoy Dimitri's. You really can't go wrong with anything on the menu. It's all pretty tasty and all at a fair price for what you're ordering. If you're feeling adventurous, try his famous gyro double cheeseburger. Your body will hate you for it later, but it's certainly something to try (or something to watch somebody try and take on). His gyros are consistently rated as one of the best in Chicago Heights. It's a small place, so if it's busy, it might be a little cramped if you're trying to eat in. A lot of his orders are to-go and pick-ups. Dimitri's also might be one of the only, if not the only, places in Chicago Heights that has Mtn. Dew Code Red from a fountain. So that's something. Used to be the best in town. Maybe it was an off night but everything was flavorless. The burger is a lower quality than Burger King across the street. Everything was lukewarm and a cold bun leaving the shop. Fries still needed to be cooked longer. I was heading to Philly Town and did a U-Turn thinking this would be the better choice for a gyro. I'm second guessing that decision. I'll give it two stars out of respect for the owner, he's survived being in a strip mall that barely gets customer traffic. Bathroom is the worst I've ever seen...no soap, really, really gross. Ropes and lights hanging sloppy all over the ceiling, covered in dust. Pop machine smells and has most likely never been cleaned. I ate here a couple of years ago after having more than a few drinks with a friend. The restaurant opened later than most, which was a plus. The food was meh, yet served its purpose. The two stars of this review is based on the average of the two visits. Tonight, was definitely a one star event. My bf was on a mission to find a good gyro, and I mentioned this place as an option.
