Visited Dimo's on a sunny Saturday afternoon during pizza week. The outdoor seating area was packed with folks enjoying their time. As it was pizza week I got to try their featured slice, which was as a Detroit style thick boi. It was delicious, as was the thin crust mushroom pie we ordered. The interior of the restaurant on the Apizza side was comfortably casual and the staff was very friendly. There are so many great pizza places in this and Dimo's deserves a spot high on the list of the best in town. read more

Ordered the white pizza and the flavor was great. Awesome combination of cheeses and the sauce is very tasty. Very fresh basil, a lot lighter than I expected which is what I'd prefer in a white sauce pizza, I don't usually order them because they tend to be heavy. Super unique combination of flavors. On the negative side: The sauce and toppings didn't even come close to far enough out on the pizza. Some of my slices were about 40% crust. Also the most horrible cut I've probably ever gotten, some of the slices were super long, some were tiny and short, some were super wide, some were super skinny. The crust was basically inedible it was so hard. It hurt my teeth just trying to bite through. I would assume Friday nights are probably one of their busiest nights, but I don't think that the food should suffer from a busy night. I'm not sure if this is a common experience or just bad luck for me tonight, but I'm not sure if I'll return again. read more

Dimo's was my first food stop in Portland this weekend. Their energy for this place was warm and welcoming. We were greeted, and welcomed to the city by the kind individual who took our order (unfortunately I forgot his name)... He recommended the spicy pepperoni pizza as it was a locals favorite so we ordered it. The pizza was fresh, delicious and definitely tasty as I forgot to take a picture of the food after we had already finished half of it lol. The portions are great and the flavor is great. Wowwwwwww! Stumbled upon this place when visiting Portland (I live in Seattle) without even realizing that it is inspired by pizza from New Haven, Connecticut. I'm from Connecticut and grew up eating pizza from Frank Pepe's in New Haven. To my surprise, Dimo's has a picture of Frank Pepe on their wall and offers a white clam pie that is a tribute to the one from Pepe's. This pizza is everything I've been missing since I moved to the west coast! We had the calamari (Rhode Island style) and the mushroom pizza. The calamari was one of the best I've ever had. I loved the cornmeal breading and the fried peppers (which comes with it when it is Rhode Island style). Very crispy and crunchy. We ordered a side of their green goddess ranch and it was great with the calamari. The pizza was perfect. LOVED the thin, crispy, flavorful crust with the char marks from the oven, just like you'd get in New Haven. The mushroom pizza was incredibly rich and savory, so that green goddess ranch was the perfect complement to add some cool bright contrast. I am dying to come back and try their white clam and their tomato pie. I don't think I'll ever visit Portland without coming to Dimo's. read more

Dimo's hits every time! The salads are fresh, always the perfect temperature and never wilty. If you like New Haven style pies this is gonna be your jam. The pizza is just crispy perfection. We dined here for my friend's 50th birthday. Our party had roughly seven people. My friend ordered seven large pizzas, and I ordered two small pizzas so that we could try a lot of the different pizzas there. My only two gripes were that some of the crust was a little burnt, which I feel like is a "gourmet pizza" kind of thing, but can make parts of the crust inedible, in my opinion. The second was that the man I ordered from didn't tell me the smaller pizzas would have a thicker crust and thicker dough. We are into thin-crust, and that's how the large pizzas were, but these are minor issues that didn't ruin our night. In fact, this place is fantastic overall. The service was really excellent, and everyone there was really polite. I like the restaurant; it's large. It has high ceilings. It has mellow lighting. It would be great if you had a large group. We got there around 5 PM. Parking was not a huge issue; you can park on the Street. I tried a lot of different pizzas and thought each one was really good. If I had to choose one, I would say the tie-dye was my favorite. The ingredients tasted very fresh. I also got a Caesar salad with romaine. That was one of the better salads I've ever had, I think. My friend has been trying to get me to meet him here for a year because this is his favorite pizza place, and I think I know why. Now I will definitely be back. read more

I was pleasantly surprised by Dimo's. It's hard to explain, but it scratches an itch that I don't think any other pizza joint in the area can compete with. I don't even know what type of pizza this would be, but I feel like it's the 'best' of it's type. It's SUPER crispy, almost all the way to the middle. The flavors are amazing. It's salty is a perfect way that makes it a perfect pizza to pair with a beer. Only knock on the pizza was that the toppings were spread super unevenly and kinda grouped in areas so every slice was not created equal. The salad was also great. Beer list had great options. The service was really great, and the guy dropping pizzas to tables really brings a refreshing energy to his job. Chatting people up, wishing people happy birthday, and just generally bringing good vibes. The outdoor patio was lovely on a late Summer/early Fall night. Having been here before and tried the Tie Dye Pizza, I was itching to come back and try the Plain Cheese pizza, my go-to standardized base for comparison. The large comes in at a good size, and overall is pretty tasty. Still up there among the better pizzas in town. I always love to try a new pizza place! We had the calamari and the tie dye pizza (added pepperoni) and it was all good! I really liked the green goddess ranch on both. I guess "New Haven style" means they use an electric oven AND wood fire so if you liked wood fired pizza, you'll like this. I saw some reviews saying the pizza is burned.... That's kind of the point! We were visiting Portland when we stumbled across Dimo's restaurant, instantly the food looked great and we were starving. The sandwiches were very savory. I loved every single one. The Italian had a satisfying soft crunch, don't take long to eat it. We had to walk to our hotel and regretted no eating it while we waited for our Philly, by the time we got back. It was semi warm . The Philly was infused or had the taste of buttery mushrooms. It was different but Delicious! I was soo hungry that I didn't really examine the sandwich, just going by taste and memory lol ! The restaurant felt so warm, especially with the kindness of staff. They have a very great aesthetic going on inside, I love all the lighting, furniture, and the herbs outside. I specifically noticed their rosemary . The employees were kind and vigilant on our order, took a bit long for a sandwich, she apologized and said she put a cookie in there! Everything was amazing. This is the best pizza and calamari I've had in the PNW. Starters: We had the beet salad which was phenomenal. The calamari was seasoned and breaded to perfection. I'd come back just for these two plates. Pizza: Dimo's Apizza knows what they're doing. We split two pies amongst a family of 4 and left with nearly a full box. The wild mushroom was fantastic. Pepperoni and cheese was yummy too and everyone left satisfied. They also serve beer on tap. Service: Order at the counter and pick your own seating. You also bus your own table. Pizza in Portland? Yeah one of the most underrated cities for pizza in America I'm sure we could say. There are a handful of staples in Portland, but Dimo's doesn't get mentioned with the elites. I've been here a couple times now and have had a pretty good experience. You do order at the counter and then find a place to sit. The place has both indoor and outdoor seating available. We ordered the White Pie and a Spicy Pepperoni Pizza. It was actually pretty amazing at how quick it came out for us. They cook the pizzas in the regular oven style and then finish them off in the wood fired oven. Both of the pizzas were super tasty, each with its own unique flavor. The place is pretty casual, order up at the front and wait at your table with the number. My favorite pizza has to be the Mushroom it's rich, cheesy, garlicky goodness. The Hail mary is best of all worlds with meat, olives, lots of cheeses. You can't go wrong with any of the pizza's. Don't sleep on the salads either, the tri colore has crispy shallots topping arugla, fennel and radicchio (the bitiness is tempered with the light lemon dressing) The smashed potatoes are so crispy and herby as well! Notes: - Overall not bad. I have pretty high standards with pizza. There are handful of places in Portland I definitely prefer, but I'd stop by Dimo's again if I were in the area. - The crust is definitely on the crispy side. Relatively thin too. Personally I prefer a little bit of doughyness and softness on the interior and a thinner crispy shell on the exterior. Especially with the crust. But I know a lot of people really like this crispy style. - It was also on the oily side. Which has it's pluses, it gave it a nice mouthfeel. I think it was a bit too much but I also enjoyed it. - There were a lot of nice flavors with the pesto, whipped burrata, pecorinio and generous amount of basil. I prefer the basil a little crispy though. - The salt came through too much for me. And fat. I guess it's what I ordered, but I could have done without the burrata. That plus the oil was too much fat. - I would have preferred more freshness and acid from the red sauce. Some more sweetness too. The red sauce didn't really come through. It was masked by the other strong flavors. Next time I'd get a margherita. read more

Out of the numerous pizza spots in Portland, Dimo's just hits a little different and doesn't feel like just another pizza joint. The perfectly charred, thin and crispy yet chewy crust is something special. I usually go for the Tie Dye Pie which is a must-try. Also love their sides and salads which are legit. The atmosphere is casual and relaxed and can get a bit loud when super busy. Have seen it get quite busy at peak hours and weekends and we've waited sometimes for about an hour to get our pizza but it has always been worth the wait. Parking inside their lot is very limited but street parking nearby shouldn't be too difficult to find. Overall a great spot for a low-key dinner with friends or family. Just be prepared to get addicted to that crust and their pizza flavors which are unlike any other in the city. read more

Came here on a Wednesday evening around 5. Got in before the dinner crowd started trickling in. Not super busy yet so I got to order right away. Got a peach Frose, margherita pie and Caesar salad. I had heard positive reviews about Dimo's from a content creator on TikTok! She did not steer us wrong. As soon as we walked in, we were greated by a cool server with a smile. He was showing us pasta leaving the kitchen just to remind us it wasn't just about pizza. I had the Cacio e Pepe pizza and was instantly obsessed. The charred crust and the "cheese and pepper" with tomato confit and zucchini. Crazy-good. The seating is plentiful and roomy. I felt at-home, like I was back on the East Coast. i was pretty curious to try this place and glad i did. the brussels were DELICIOUS and the cacio pepe pizza was perfect, really good too. the indoor seating area was...i don't know, disorganized? there were a lot of supplies and boxes out for a restaurant and it kind of felt claustrophobic or cluttered there, can't describe it. they should spruce it up a bit because the pizza oven is just beautiful. the food was delicious and people working were friendly. id go again especially when we can use the outdoor seating. read more

I love a Smokey caramelized wood fire pizza but I felt like they burnt the crust and cheese and I was unable to get that flavor. I don't understand why they put it in a normal oven and then the wood oven. Quality ingredients. The spicy pepperoni was perfectly spicy. The cheese on the mushroom pizza was not very cheesy. I love this spot. It's has all you want for counter service. Very hospitable. The margarita pizza is a fan favorite and it tops many pizzas I've had, even in "pizza city". I'm looking forward to trying the new-ish Italian place that they opened next door, and it has a different, more fine dining ambiance. Their pizza offerings are unlike any other in Portland, which is refreshing to see and experience. My favorite of the night was the Tie Dye - tomato sauce, pesto, and whipped burrata - the blend of flavors was delicious! The crust was good too! The wood-char added a smokiness, although the crust was a bit too thin/crispy for my liking. But that's just a personal preference. The restaurant has plenty of seating, indoor and outdoor - great for groups! Service is counter service and it was efficient.
