Dimo's Apizza is New Haven style pizza, like Apizza Scholl's - also a well known pizzeria in Portland. New Haven style according to the good ol' Google is "thin-crust, coal-fired Neapolitan pizza". Dimo's is wood-fired with handmade dough, and their menu showcases many specialty pizzas, salads, and pastas. We got the Tie Dye, The Father, and Margherita. Their pizza offerings are unlike any other in Portland, which is refreshing to see and experience. My favorite of the night was the Tie Dye - tomato sauce, pesto, and whipped burrata - the blend of flavors was delicious! The crust was good too! The wood-char added a smokiness, although the crust was a bit too thin/crispy for my liking. But that's just a personal preference. The restaurant has plenty of seating, indoor and outdoor - great for groups! Service is counter service and it was efficient. I love this spot. It's has all you want for counter service. Very hospitable. The margarita pizza is a fan favorite and it tops many pizzas I've had, even in "pizza city". I'm looking forward to trying the new-ish Italian place that they opened next door, and it has a different, more fine dining ambiance. Pleasantly delighted by their sausage and mushroom pizza! I ordered off of uber eats for my first time trying their pizza and my partner and I gobbled up nearly the whole pie! So, firstly I misjudged the serving of the pizza and perhaps the distinct style of New Haven style pizza. When I opened the box at home, I realized that the pie was cut in a seemingly irregular way but slicing extra lines into the pie to cut the slices smaller (3-way cut makes 6 slices, 4-way cut makes 8, etc.). It was jarring and a bit perplexing. Albeit their food tastes delicious and their toppings were flavorful, I couldnt help but think back to the bizarre way someone divided my pie. Much later I happen to read up about New Haven style pizza and Dimo's, and although NH style doesn't specifically indicate the number of cuts into a pie, Dimo's own social media page shows how they intentionally cut their pizza... To my horror, realizing I docked Dimo's a star on UE, I was compelled to write out a Yelp review to warrant me some peace of mind after confessing my mistake on UEats and to rave more truthfully on Yelp. Besides being a little snug inside, this place is great. The flavor of all the pizza was spot on. We ordered the spicy pepperoni, margherita, tie dye and the father pizzas. They do a firewood thin crust pizza here and it's delicious. The appetizers were also all delicious, especially the fries and Brussel sprouts. The fries were like crispy smashed potatoes and the sprouts had an agrodolce vinegarette on it that gave it great flavor. It's kind of like a balsamic glaze on steroids. I would love to come back to try the other pizza flavors in the near future. They do have a parking lot, but it probably only fits about 10 cars. Looks like they have a great covered area for outdoor dining. You order and pay first then they bring the food to your table when it's ready. The staff were also super friendly and helpful. We had a big party with a few kids running around at times and they were very accommodating. Kid friendly spot for sure. read more

Dimo's Apizza is soo good! It's the perfect neighborhood pizza joint. We were greeted immediately upon entering and our service was stellar throughout our dinner. The Cesar gem is fantastic- highly recommend. Cacio Pepe pasta was good, but $19 was a tad high for the portion received. Tie Dye Pizza- INCREDIBLE. I'm still thinking about this. Order it. Crust was perfect and flavors were outstanding. We also had some Pilsner with our meal and it complimented our meal greatly. Great first experience. My friends and I walked here from the convention center on a lunch break. Service was friendly and quick. The small was perfect for me. I ate half and saved the rest for later. The style feels like the pizza I had in France and Italy. The crust is crisp and bubbly on the edges and falls at the tip as you pick it up. I knocked off 1 star because it's the most expensive pizza I ever purchased, but that's the Portland factor. It's double the price I would pay in CT. Now, let me preface this by saying I haven't been to a few of the high acclaimed pizza spots in town but I have been to quite a few and Dimos is my new favorite. We ordered the Dimos fries and the Wild Mushroom pizza, we also got a side of the garlic aioli. The fries with the garlic aioli was absolute BLISS! I felt jaded at first about paying $2 for a dip but I would pay double for that little cup of happiness. The potatoes were crispy and packed with herby goodness. The zah was delish too. Plenty of toppings so you do not feel ripped off at all. Nice crispy crust. It was perfection. I loved watching the pizza chefs doing their thing! We had a table facing the brick oven and it was entertaining watching the guys throw up the dough and make the pizza. They had quite an audience and we were all clapping. Some great talent in there and nice people. Only negative was the pizza took a LONG time but perfection should never be rushed. Just gave us an excuse to order another beer. I got mushroom pizza and tri color salad. The pizza was too crusty for my liking, most of the edges were burnt and some of the toppings too- the crispy potato was over cooked. The salad was nice but it was very unidimensional, very heavy on arugula, needs some other flavors for a more balanced profile. The situation of having to add the tip before you sit down and eat, and where you have to bus your own table and get your own water/serve ware makes me a bit iffy in general. Finally made it in again to feast on pizza at Dimo's! We got here around 5pm on a dreary winter Friday and it wasn't very busy yet, but it soon got full. We got the large clam pizza and a large spicy pepperoni. Delicious. I inhaled the pizza, all the way to the delicious crust. Even the clam was a little spicy so I would stay away from the spicy pepperoni next time (my spice loving friend loved it though). The arugula salad was a nice contrast to the pizza and added a pop of zesty freshness. Spicy margarita went down easy. How do I love Dimo's? For stellar sandwiches and excellent pizza, but always always for their smashed fried potatoes! The best potatoes in an area known for fried potatoes, Dimo's fries are in a whole other category. Salads are seriously good too, and their cookies are craveable. You have to like char on your pizza, but if you like a crispy well-done New England style pizza, theirs is the best around. Their sandwiches are fantastic, they make their own bread and add really delicious toppings. The tomato confit sandwich is my least favorite and unfortunately that's too often the vegetarian option, so maybe go for pizza if that's the only vegetarian sandwich. Meh, I've had it twice now. Still nobody does better New Haven pies than Apizza Scholls. I'll go there whenever I want this style of pizza. Grana has worked its way into the conversation, especially if you don't want the ridiculous wait at Ken's.
