I'm craving Dimo's so badly right now. I've been coming here since it was Ian's Pizza (around 7 years ago). I usually swing by for drunchies, but I had some leftovers the next morning and the pizza still tasted delicious. The mac & cheese pizza is amazing. I also tried the chicken and waffles, which has a bit of a sweet syrup-y taste. It was so good. My one quirk about this place is that there's always something weird happening inside, like a fight or argument of some kind. Let me eat my Dimo's in peace! read more

The real deal exotic pizza topping place. This is also a place from the past for me, as it used to be a Madison, Wisconsin gem for years before they took the plunge and came to Chicago. It's just an average place for a large slice. I went there at 6:30 on a Thursday and the pizza on display all looked pretty bad like it had been sitting out a long time. Asked for pepperoni, which was in the oven. Waited 10 mins which is fine to get fresh pizza. Pizza was good, nothing remarkable, not heavy on topping coverage. There was a house fly buzzing around. I love pizza. I can't deny it. So when we're done drinking in Wrigleyville and hunger strikes, I am secretly happy there is only one place to turn to.... Ian's! They always have new toppings and combinations, so don't go in there with your heart set on a specific one.... But luckily, they always have something interesting and tempting... and if not... there is always good old cheese to fall back on.... (ugh, so vanilla... lol) Some of my faves are bbq chicken pizza, bbq chicken with bacon n ranch and chicken taco but there are so many more to choose from. The girl on the phone was extremely friendly and helpful. I asked for extra cheese and sauce and she assured me that it didn't need any and boy was she right! Not totally sure what I was expecting--after only scanning the Yelp reviews (I should know better to do some serious investigation) I decided on mac 'n cheese pizza out of boredom and the decided need to expand my food universe a bit. We arrived and the music was BLASTING. I mean, right, most people that roll up in here at 2am were probably just at some place down the street with twice the volume levels, but for a Sunday night, it seemed a little unnecessary. Checking out all the crazy pizzas on display, my man and I weren't sure if they actually served "regular" pizzas with "regular" toppings (and my bad for not asking) but we settled on the mac 'n cheese and bbq steak and french fries pizza. Being even more a pizza purist than I, he was definitely freaked out by his own order. I will say that I liked the bbq sauce--it was tangy and sweet and not too overwhelming, but the french fries were weird and soggy. The mac 'n cheese pizza was, well, mac 'n cheese on bread. Cool concept, but not the best in actual execution--kind of bland, actually. I may or may not feel differently if I was 4 or 5 beers in...but not this time. I don't think the word love can come close to describing how I feel about Ian's. This is hand's down the BEST pizza joint. Don't come here looking for deep dish or Chicago style pizza. This is where you get the most bad-ass pizza around. Of course my favorite (like everyone's) is the Mac'n'Cheese, but there are so many unique kinds you just have to try them all. Last wknd I was fortunate enough to run into some drunk guys who bought my girl friend and I 1 slice of every kind of pizza there was (resulting in close to 15 slices). Needless to say, i was not disappointed with a single slice! Yes, there will be downfalls (like the pesto tortellini), but just getting to try the ever changing rotation makes up for it. Regardless if you like pizza or not, you have to try this place AT LEAST 3 times to get the real sense of why this place is so awesome. Ian's has gone down hill since it changed to Dimo's, which is weird because it looks like the exact same place with the same employees. I've been about 4 times and have been less impressed with each visit. My most recent visit could be my last and I wouldn't really mind. The employees act like they're doing you a favor by telling you what kinds of pizza are out. This is a totally avoidable issue if they would just put a label in the case in front of the pizza. They serve a rotating selection, but it's the same ones (just a different order from what I can tell), so just make a label and laminate it and put it in front of the pizza. Done and done. The pizza itself is good, and I like their veggie and vegan options. It could use some tv's and more than one can of cheese. Seriously, label your pizzas. read more

I don't know why it took me this long to discover Dimo's. Best vegan pizza ever. No Joke. I've have pizza from there twice and pigged out, loving everything I've had so far! Vegan Mac - Awesome. (adding a little pinch of salt makes this one PERFECT) Teesy Potato - Always been an advocate for potatoes on pizza and this one is excellent. Vegan Philly - Incredible. I can't say enough good things about Ian's Pizza, but the first thing is that it's like a taste of home... like Peace a Pizza in Stone Harbor, NJ (my long-standing favorite pizza in the world - http://www.yelp.com/biz/peace-a-pizza-stone-harbor) but BETTER! Much has been said about Ian's inventive toppings, like steak-n-fries or s'mores... but not enough has been said about their CRUST! It's the perfect balance of crispy and chewy that so many pizza parlors strive for but never reach. The crust is what separates Ian's from Peace a Pizza (and all other competition). To top it all off, Ian's has a VERY friendly staff, late-night hours, and relatively cheap slices for the Wrigleyville area. I'd recommend Ian's to anyone at anytime! read more

This place gets 5 stars just from the many different options of pizza it has. It's even better because you can get slices and don't have to commit to a full pizza, but everything I've had was great. My review for Ian's has disappeared... so here I go again. I love Ian's. I've never eaten it sober, but I possibly would... Bold statement, I know! Pesto tortellini, marinara tortellini, mac & cheese, Greek (i think), BBFAT are some that i've tried (there's probably more on the list). They are all great and when you're drinking, you seriously can't find a better place to eat then Ian's... Long lines, inexpensive, fast, friendly staff, clean place, great people watching... what more could you ask for? :) This place proves you can put just about anything on a pizza. read more

If you like things other than pizza on your pizza then this is the place for you. This used to be Ian's pizza. I liked Ian's and I liked this place too. Although... This is one of those places that tests one of 2 theories I have on some restaurants: Can it be that the only time you eat here is A) when you're intoxicated Ihop tastes like Per Se or B) after sitting watching the cubs get beat up for 3 hours... This place was good. Not great. Let me explain. The pizzas are all about shock value, and what weird shit they can pile on top of it. We got 6 slices so we could try some of the crazy combinations. -The Mac n Cheese - Weird and not really like mac n cheese -The California - Very good, with goat cheese -Steak and fries - ok, nothing too special. The sauce is too sweet. -Steak Nacho - FUCKING GOOD! I loved this slice - and we got 2 slices of the Chicken Bacon Ranch - which was very good, but the ranch dressing was a little too thick on some parts, and it was just too much sometimes. I've been here before and it was great. When I came last week, it was awful. Both times I got the Mac & Cheese pizza. My slice was had macaroni pasta and shredded cheese that only half melted onto the pasta. No melty goodness, no cheesy delight, I ran to the counter in hopes to save my bite. Worst pizza delivery experience of my life, no exaggeration. I have no idea how this company has a 4-star average on Yelp. Avoid at all costs, there are so many other pizza options in this city. The Dimo's website does not give you a time estimate for delivery during the check out process. After I placed my order, I was told that my delivery would not be arriving for more than an hour an half! I wouldn't have ordered if I had known it would take that long, but I decided to give Dimo's the benefit of the doubt because I had heard good things about them from friends. Somehow, Dimo's managed to take EVEN LONGER than that ridiculous initial delivery estimate -- over 30 minutes longer to be exact...and to top it all off, they gave me the wrong pizza! So, I ended up waiting over 2 hours just to get the wrong pizza. Fantastic. I then had to call Dimo's to inform them about their delivery mistake. They were rude to me on the phone as if it was somehow my fault. The delivery guy came back about 10 minutes later, gave me the pizza I actually ordered and then took back the other pizza. I sincerely hope that the other pizza wasn't delivered. Personally, I would be disgusted if I knew that my pizza was in someone else's home before I got it. So, approximately 2 and a half hours after I had ordered, I finally had my pizza from Dimo's. It was an absolute embarrassment. My pizza was lukewarm, burned, and tasted like greasy, salty ash. I called Dimo's again to let them know how disappointed I was with my order and asked for a refund. They offered to make me a new pizza (like I would want to wait another 2 hours to eat garbage? Get real.) or to take 20% off of my order, which I may or may not even get because the person on the phone said that they needed to "email their manager." I wish I was joking. I had a girl's night in with an old roommate a few weeks back, and we ordered Dimo's, which another Chicago friend had highly recommended. We ordered a large half Mac & Cheese, half good ol' fashioned pepperoni. I figured a 12 inch pizza wouldn't be enough for both of us, as we were starved. I forgot that Dimo's served "monster slices" until the delivery guy arrived with a box the size of a school desk. The pizza was still hot, the delivery surcharge was minimal (and is to be expected) and we weren't charged extra for ordering half-and-half. I've paid more for Pappa John's to deliver a lot less pizza, so I was really pleased with the value. In terms of original toppings, you can't beat Dimo's. Mac & Cheese? Chicken & Waffles? Philly Steak & Cheese? It's like the crazy flavors from Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, only you actually want to try them. Delivery time was a little long (just over an hour), but they told me to expect an hour wait when I ordered over the phone, so at least they didn't make any promises they couldn't keep. And I was ordering pizza on a Friday night, so I was prepared to wait. P.S. -- I realize now that ordering Pappa John's in Chicago is sacrilege. I promise I won't do it again. read more

YUM!!!!! Went with a friend, got a few slices to split and loved every bite. My top two recommendations right now. BBQ Chicken Bacon Ranch and the Pesto Portabella. The slices are huge and the crust is the perfect compliment to the jazzed up toppings. The guy behind the counter was friendly and efficient. There is this pizza place in my hometown that has a special place in my heart, and Ian's Pizza is like that pizza place's best friend who lives in Chicago...not as great but a very good replacement. I love pretty much everything about this place. * The location is about two blocks from my apartment so I can go there whenever I want. You can sit down and eat or bring it home. *The pizza slices are big, you can buy them individually, and they are inexpensive. So I can eat a meal for less than $5. *The pizza itself comes in all different type of crazy and not-so-crazy combinations. For example I've tried mac n cheese, frito pie, spicy chicken taco and then some. However, I've also enjoyed regular ol' sausage or veggie and it was just as enjoyable. *The pizza is delicious! *The staff is super cool and very customer service friendly, something I always appreciate. I figured that Ian's Pizza was just another generic pizza place, churning out boring pizza by the slice to legions of drunk Cubs fans. Then one of my friends told me about their Mac N Cheese Pizza. Holy. Crap. The restaurant was just as I had imagined - annoying music not completely drowning out annoying customers. But the menu was not as standard. Along with the Mac & Cheese pizza were a number of very unique pizzas - I'd like to try them all sometime. However, after the first slice of Mac & Cheese there was only one slice that I was interested in having - another slice of Mac & Cheese. After we ate our pizza, 3 of the group of 5 i was with agreed that A) we should have gone to Bacci, and B) maybe we should STILL go to Bacci, even after eating Ians. Ian's is like Hot Doug's, but for pizza. With pizza options like the Breakfast Burrito, Rodeo Burger, Chicken Alfredo, Mac and Cheese, and the famous Smore pizza - it's great for people who like variety and the worst place for the indecisive. Community tables and a smiley staff makes this place welcoming and fun. I do wish that they labeled each pizza by the slice so no one would have to scream their orders to the staff, but I guess that's the charm of the place. For $3.75, you get a big slice of pizza - not as big a Bacci's pizza, but filling after a night's out drinking...well make that two slices. read more

I'm a fan of this place! Great and fast way to get a slice of pizza. It's pizza by the slice with a variety of different kinds of flavors you wouldn't normally see at the chains (bbq & blue cheese, mac & cheese pizza, nacho pizza, etc.). This reminds me of some of the pizza places in New York. Nope, this is not your typical chicago deep dish pizza joint. It's conveniently located right by Wrigley Field so it's a great stop before going to the game. How it works is you pick your slice of pizza and they warm it up for you in the oven so it comes out nice and hot. Sometimes the line can get long but they actually move people pretty fast. I'm glad Chicago has one of these places similar to New York. I wouldn't advise visiting this place at 2-3am, because you'll see a lot of drunk douchebags trying to get food in their alcohol filled stomaches. The guys I'm sure will be hitting on anything with a pulse at this point, you've been warned. read more
