The food and service here was AMAZING. I'm from the Bay Area and this was my first time in Chicago. It was a beautiful nice little restaurant with comfortable seating. Delicious pizza! Really good thin slices with the perfect amount of sauce and cheese. I ordered 2 slices (which are huge by the way) and it turns out each slice comes with a drink too! (Coke, Diet Coke, sprite, bottled water). I took my pizza to go and they offered me Parmesan cheese and red pepper flakes also. For individual slices they had cheese, pepperoni, and sausage, and their full pizzas are made to order. I got a cheese slice and a pepperoni slice (2 huge slices were about $15). Would love to come back and try some of the more unique pizza flavors because I really liked what I got! The sesame seeds on the crust were a nice unique touch. The space is surprisingly big, open, bright, and clean with plenty of tables for eating in. It wasn't crowded, but the service was good and my pizza was prepared quickly! read more

The pizza is decent, but the pricing is insane. Ordering a full 24" pizza is more expensive than buying 8 individual slices. The value on smaller pizzas is even worse. Crust: 7 Cheese: 8 Sauce: 4 Toppings: N/A Overall: 6.33 One thing that distinguishes Proper Pizza is the crust as is has sesame seeds on it. Definitely different. Cheese is the best part of the pie as it's very gooey and flavorful. Crust has decent flop. Sauce to cheese ratio is off as it needs more sauce. Proper Pizza has decent pizza and is a great bang for your buck. A giant slice and drink was like $7 so it's a solid deal. I think the pizza is mid at best, but that's ok. I've been hearing about this place a lot and finally got to check them out over the weekend! I got the Truffle Pizza, and I had to try the Nutella Pizza too so I grabbed that as well . I really liked the Truffle Pizza! You can really taste the truffles (and smell them as soon as you open the box) and the pine nuts and sesame seeds added a bonus to the texture. And you just can't go wrong with Nutella Pizza . They make it on a filo dough which is light and flaky and is a great touch. Some of the staff (maybe managers/owners? I didn't ask) were watching the Greece vs. Kosovo (this place originated in Kosovo) soccer game that was going on at the time, but they were super friendly and welcoming as soon as I stepped in. Great and unique pizza! Delicious and unique options for non-pork eaters. Our pizza had chicken meatballs on one half and beef sausage and beef prosciutto on the other half. It's a unique flavor profile which I like. The cheese and sauce are very good and if you like sesame seeds the crust will work for you. There were a few not proper aspects though. I love all pizza so when Proper opened in the neighborhood, I was thrilled to try it out. What won us over was the sesame crust. We loved the macho but also the hawaiian - the crust + the thin style pizza makes is a different experience but one every pizza lover should try. Can't say this is the world's 'best' pizza but you know, it's a terrific pizza. Saw it a few weeks ago and kept wanting to try it out and FINALLY DID. First off, one of the few places in the US that offers 'corn' as a topping. Yeah yeah, I've been told 'we don't put corn on pizza.' Try it out; you don't know what you're missing. I had the pepperoni, sausage and veggie. Loved the pepperoni and not sure why I took the sausage (don't care much for sausage on my pizza). The vegetarian was fantastic but could use some more vegetables on it. There is a wonderful 'chew' to the pizza. As I ate the first slice, I was excited to get to the crust; never seen sesame seeds on a pizza. Damn this works and it works well. The space inside was really cool. Clean, seemed to have been renovated for this new place and the owner Tony was super friendly. Finally a great replacement for our beloved Renaldi's! Since Renaldi's on Broadway closed last year, we have been on the search for a perfect "NY Style" pie. Naudi's, Max & Izzy's, ZaZa's are good, but they have just not hit the spot for us. Proper did! The surprising thing is that this is not traditional NY Pizza, they are actually an Eastern European joint. But it checks all my boxes- Cheese has a nice chew to it, crust is thin and cooked perfectly, sauce is lovely and light. We only got slices tonight (which were quite large!), but next week we will order a pie- they have some very interesting topping combinations! Sorry it took us so long to go to this place. Just casually making pizza Love love LOVED the flavors at this spot, the MACHO was definitely our favorite topped with chicken sausage, their signature proper cheese, herbs and their MACHO sauce made with yogurt, parsley, dill. Really flavorful and I couldn't help but eat almost half this pizza myself I never love crusts but WOW this crust is phenomenal. Topped with sesame seeds. I recommend getting their sauce on the side to dip We also had their Proper Pizza made with beef salami and beef prosciutto + mushrooms , Proper cheese. Very excited to have the #1 pizza restaurant from Kosovo in Chicago! Their dough tastes really good and the crust with sesame seeds is a new twist on pizza I've never had before. As a big sesame bagel guy, this was a great addition! Don't overlook all their toppings they have to offer like caramelized onions, crispy bacon, normal bacon, macho sauce, and so many more. Next time I come back I'll probably do a few custom pizzas and just choose a bunch of good toppings and see how it turns out. I don't know if they just thought thought I looked susceptible because I'd had a few drinks but I didn't even question it until the next day. Super shady. my coworkers and I who work across the street were craving garlic bread so we decided to come try Proper Pizza. we also ordered a couple slices of pizza and a salad. they were out of the arugula salad but the man (who I can only assume to be the owner?) said he would bring us cesar salad instead which was genuinely delicious and tasted so, so fresh! we only ordered 1 but he brought out 3, so all of us could have one. we also only ordered 2 slices of cheese pizza but he brought us one extra, just cause! he also gave us free drinks and punch cards - and best believe we will be using them and coming back again and again because not only was the service phenomenal , but the food was SO good. sometimes when I'm craving pizza, the idea of it is so much better than the reality, but that isn't the case here. you won't have a single regret. i can tell they use fresh and high quality ingredients. the sesame seeds on the crust really elevates this from a normal slice of pizza. the crust even besides the sesame seeds is SO good (im a big crust girl so trust me on this). the lettuce in the salad was super crisp, juicy and refreshing - exactly what you want paired against a heavier meal like pizza and cheesy garlic bread! the cheesy garlic bread is exactly what you'd expect; really yummy with the same thin, flaky crust. He also brought us some macho sauce to sample which I would say is a must-try. so yummy - tastes kind of like ranch with some dill in it ? you definitely need to get some to dip your pizza in. Also from the outside this restaurant is very unassuming but the inside is really nice with really comfortable seating/couches and is spacious and clean. There are a lot of pizza places and different options for pizza in Chicago. Proper Pizza is an interesting new addition. It's not your typical pizza place, and it stands a part for a few unique aspects. I guess is falls into the category of thin crust pizza, but after that it defies convention in many good ways. From my understanding, this location is their first North American location. I am told they have locations all over the world and their pizzas reflect that. I tried their Hawaiian pizza, proper pizza, macho pizza and the their crunchy Nutella pizza. Their Hawaiian was good, but not great. I would skip this one in favor of their house creations. The proper pizza was very good. Their meats have a nice smokiness that I haven't yet had on a pizza. However, my favorite was the macho pizza. It had a great sauce and the chicken meatballs tasted great. Lastly, while I'm typically not a fan of sweet or dessert pizzas, I took a risk and tried their crunchy Nutella pizza. I did enjoy it. It's light and sweet, but not too sweet. I also liked their interesting take on crust. They cover their crust with sesame seeds. It adds a nice crunch and and a great texture. Overall, this place is a must try, especially if you're looking to try something a little different, but still yummy. read more

Absolutely amazing food and even better service. My buddy and I came here 10 minutes before closing on a Thursday night after Lolla Palooza day 1 hoping to get two slices of pizza. Unfortunately they only had one left. The owner (I'm assuming) felt bad and gave us the slice for free along with two waters. The pizza was so amazing we decided to come back the next night after day 2 of the festival. We ordered a whole pizza and garlic bread and dined in, the owner recognized us. He gave us two free sodas and even gave us his phone charger for us to use and we didn't even ask! It's safe to say the service here is a 10/10 and the pizza is absolutely incredible. read more
