"This restaurant delivers a truly elevated take on dumplings and ramen. [[HIGHLIGHT]]From the moment you walk in, the atmosphere feels refined and intentional--clean design, warm lighting, and an open kitchen that highlights the craft behind every dish.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The soup dumplings are the star of the experience: delicate, thin-skinned, and perfectly filled with rich, flavorful broth that bursts as soon as you bite in. The ramen is equally impressive, with deeply developed broth, springy handmade noodles, and toppings that feel thoughtfully balanced rather than overloaded. What really ties the meal together is the amazing dessert selection. Light, beautifully plated, and full of flavor without being overly sweet--it's the perfect finish to an already memorable dining experience. What stands out most overall is the consistency and presentation. Every dish looks carefully composed, and the flavors are clean yet complex without feeling heavy. The service is attentive and well-timed, making the whole meal feel smooth and upscale without being intimidating. Prices are on the higher side, but the quality, technique, and overall experience make it feel completely justified for a special night out."

Popped in just for happy hour drinks. They have a line for the bar area to queue in that is separate from their main dining room line. Waited about 10 min to get a seat for 3 people. Lychee mojito, yuzu margarita, and cucumber gimlet. Mojito and margarita were a bit similar in flavor, both leaning quite citrus forward. The cucumber gimlet stoof out the most with a fresh cucumber flavor. A bit basic but not too bad for $12. Golden hour happy hour is from 3-6pm Monday-Thursday

I came here just to eat dinner with a friend and we reserved a table for 4 which was a 30-45 minute wait (honestly not bad at all) but then 2 people cancelled which we were scared to talk to them cause you need your full party to be there to get your table but we explained and they were completely understanding and still took us. We ordered: Pork XLB (2), Noodles with Spicy Sauce (2), Pork Chop and the Matcha Jasmine Latte. The total was $71 so not bad-- the matcha which my friend got just needed a bit more sweetener and the other food was delicious, it's a go-to and safe food you can depend on when you want something warm, cozy and nice. The staff were all friendly; checking in on us at times, was quick and very polite and had a great attitude and were whimsy! Food came out also fairly quicker which we liked. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The restaurant was busy but it looked well-managed, only downside is it's very clumped but probably due to high demand.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Still a wonderful experience!!

Always an amazing trip to Din Tai Fung in the Washington Square Mall. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Even if its out of the way I always recommend them the drive is 100% worth it for the comfy booths and good food.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Just make sure to make reservations online as they fill up quickly on the weekends. Their food is always perfection. The main go tos for us are the: Green Beans, Chicken XLB, Spicy Wontons, and recently the Pork Buns. The staff is always attentive and we have had Brent twice now and he is an absolutely amazing talent at bringing the fun to the table!

A fun outing! Went here on a weekday, right when they opened at 11am. We did not have reservations, and were the first people seated. The restaurant was almost completely full about 30-45 minutes later, so keep that in mind. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The ambiance was a large open space, dark and modern.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Service was very friendly and informative. We ordered a full dishes starting with the cucumber salad. This was great, with a refreshing yet spicy profile. Of course we had to get an order of Xiao Long Bao (dumpling filled with broth). and they were fun and yummy. We also tried pork steamed buns and chicken spicy wontons. All was yummy. I don't know how westernized the food is here, but I was satisfied. This place isn't cheap, but a fun treat. The menu has lots more to try for next time. My advice: go early for lunch, or prepare for some waiting. I don't know what it is like for dinner, but I think I'd make reservations just to be sure.

Had an amazing first experience at Din Tai Fung! Met our friends here that were visiting out of town for their first time as well. They were visiting from 3 hours away. The food was absolutely incredible. Every single dish we ordered was packed with flavor and tasted fresh and perfectly prepared. You can really tell the quality and care that goes into their cooking. The service was also great. The staff was so nice, patient, and very attentive throughout our visit. It did take a little while for our food to come out, but they were clearly very busy, so it was understandable. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Overall, it was totally worth the wait. Delicious food, friendly service, and a great atmosphere.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We'll definitely be back again! Been craving their food since we visited over the weekend! Wish we had a location in Vancouver!

First time going! We sat at the bar, service was on the slow side, it looked like it was hard for the bartender to check up, since they also make the drinks for the restaurant. Upside was happy hour! We got to try different dumplings at a discounted price! Well check in again, most likely restaurant side.

Meh. It was okay. I went because someone told me it was great. Not a lot of GF options. They said it was family style which made me think servings were larger, but it wasn't. They feed one. Everything is ala cart basically. I had soup dumplings, which were good. Smaller than i thought. He ended up w fried pork rice. It was good. We had cucumber salad as an appetizer. We should have gotten veggies to share but they were $$ and before we received the food i did think dishes were larger. Cozy spot in the mall. Staff were nice. Looked like a full bar.

Din Tai Fung is one of those restaurants where yes the food is excellent and service is top notch but still feels overpriced to me... this location is conveniently located in the Washington Square, had minimal wait when we went on New Year's (though we sat in the older than 18 section), was very clean with fast service. We ordered the classics: beef noodles, xiao long bao, and spicy wontons. They're comparable to what I've had at the Taipei location. Bonus points for having a wide display window of the work that goes into creating these delicious morsels. Would I go back? Yes. But I'm not drooling in anticipation.

One thing that sucks is when the host at a chain or any restaurant is smug and not welcoming. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The food was average at best and the interior was meh.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I wouldn't return and I'm not sure why people swear by this place. I just don't get the hype accept that they want to charge more for food that's no better than store bought/microwave heated. Our server earned the extra star other wise it's a 1 star for me.

Came here for a quick lunch with my husband. Luckily we were here during the week so we avoided the weekend rush. We were seated right away at the bar. I appreciate that their menu has a wide variety of dishes to pick from. We wanted to try a variety of items and ordered four dishes to share. Being a mall restaurant it is quite loud inside but I could still have a conversation. The food came out at a good pace. We never had to wait too long before the next item came out. I enjoyed everything and so did my husband. Our favorite was the Spicy Pork Wontons.

    Taiwanese Cabbage with Garlic
    Yaya S.

never a disappointment at DTF - and always great to go with a group so that you can order an array of different dishes for variety. theres something for everyone! i have always (and still am) been a favorite of their greens, specifically the cucumber salad, green beans, and garlic cabbage. all of which, pair well with any of the other items on the menu. it was my first time trying the shanghai rice cake dish, which was delicious! service was impeccable as usual, friendly & professional. the staff here are really good about taking precautions with allergies, attentive to the needs of their customers, and providing a smooth dining experience. [[HIGHLIGHT]]it can be a bit dark inside, with the darker tones of the interior and lighting but it still feels very sleek, clean, and modern with an asian flair.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] compared to places like doughzone, this is a more elevated option that provides a more unique experience (you can watch the staff handmake the dumplings in house) -- well worth it.

My cousin inquired about an item, she did not respond and looked at her funny. I order item my cousin wanted. Staff just mumbled and put dim sum on table. It's like they just want to unload their cart. She left and another staff came by. Before she starts. I said I cannot eat without utensils, plates, napkins and what about tea? She runs to get these items. I inquired about the tea, what is it? She goes it's red tea it's the only one they serve. By the time we finished, we asked to tally the bill. On staff member says go to the front and pay bill and get containers. I went up to get containers no one in front. Everyone busy setting up for 3PM. I flagged someone. She goes take whatever you need. There were stacked containers and cartons. Family went to pay bill and waited 10 minutes for someone to come to counter. Service is poor here. Minimal the very least. No one checks to see if you want anything. Would I come back. Probably not. As for the food, yes it's dim sum but nothing to rave about. The Shu Mai do not have shrimp. The bean curd wrapped in meat and veggies tasted a little off.

I also order their lobster puffs which are a wonton wrapper purse filled with lobster, crazy good sauce and a touch of shredded carrot. This time I was in shock. All the meat was so overcooked that the pork was gray. The short ribs were almost charcoal cinder... the burned meat was next to all the other appetizers which, well, ruined the entire thing. So, I figured at least the lobster puffs were separate and looked amazing. I bit into one and it wasn't foul... it was just very confusing because it tasted completely different... I looked at the other half and was like wait... that's not lobster... that's a shrimp... so, I thought maybe it was an accident one off... nope, so apparently they switched to shrimp and are still charging for lobster... WOW. Let's say the restaurant ran out of lobster... I could completely see letting a customer know. That was not what happened here and as a customer, I am not a fan of being lied to especially in a world where people have allergies to proteins. Thankfully I'm not allergic to shrimp. I was surprised how big their menu is, and that it spans from Cantonese dim sum to Sichuan spicy dishes. I don't know if that's a good or bad thing. The dim sum is your typical standard fare. They make a good pan fried noodle dish and congee. Of the dim sum items, I think I liked the har gow the best. The rest of the items I think they could use some better seasoning. Service wise they do need a few more carts going when it gets busy. The last time we went, my mom just up and walked over to the cart that was on the other side of the room to get some items. Or just switch to the "pencil and order on demand" method. Saves some of the service hassle. There are some nice banquet sized tables towards the back of the dining room, with lazy susans and such. We're all from more Asian areas so it's so nostalgic to sit and speak Cantonese. I was impressed with all of the food. They don't have as many options as other restaurants, but they do have all the basics (har gow, siu mai, cheung fun) that you need. And they were incredibly tasty!! The egg tarts especially were so perfect and flaky. I'm excited for them to become more popular.
