Came here for the first time this week and will definitely be coming back. Best option for when you're indecisive between kbbq and hot pot. We were able to be seated quickly and the restaurant is clean and well designed. One thing that I especially like is that you self serve everything. There is nothing I dislike about all you can eat places than saying "oh can I have the whatever but only 2 pieces" if I'm just trying it for the first time. Having the freedom to get smaller portions is a game changer. They also have a sauce bar which is always a good time. Another thing is that I personally don't mind $45 per person. To me it says that they know their worth and are going to actually try to stay open rather than undercut themselves. Yes, its a little bit spendy, but its all you can eat meat, its a special splurge meal anyway its not like we'll be going on the regular. Lastly - I love the icecream freezer. A+ read more

Hotpot Palace will always have a special place in my heart because it's where my son has his first shabu shabu and K-BBQ experience. Now, I've got him hooked! We were in town for a football tournament and seductive whisper of sizzling meat was calling. Hotpot Palace came through in the clutch and the food hit the spot. My only knock is how disorganized the bar felt. Everything was available but it just didn't flow right. I found myself bouncing from one spot to the next to get everything I needed. Otherwise, they have a great selection of meats, a decent cold bar, and even a little dessert station after. If you find yourself in search of a shabu spot in Tigard, you will probably do well at the Hotpot Palace. read more

There aren't any places that do both hot pot and kbbq in Portland, so my friends and I were super excited when we found out this place was opening. When you first walk in, there is a waiting area and then it opens into the buffet area. The table space was a lot smaller than I expected but the place was modern and liked looked kinda like a club. The selection of food was very large, they had a pre-made section (noodles, fried rice, eggs rolls, etc.. ), a sauce making station, frozen meats, marinated meats, seafood, and veggies. They had pretty much everything you would expect at a hot pot place. The quality of food is where this place falls short for me. The hotpot side of things was definition better than the kbbq (they put a piece of parchment paper over the grill for some reason). The bbq meats just weren't the best and they didn't have any of the sides like kimchi or bean sprouts. The price is comparable to regular AYCE hotpot and kbbq places, so I don't think it's a bad deal if you are really craving both, but this won't be on my list of places to go back to anytime soon. read more

This place has great service and are very friendly. I like that they have this set up where you can go and choose what you want when you want and don't have to wait for someone to bring it. I also love the sauce bar here, I made my own dipping sauce but they have recipes to follow as well. The food was just okay to me, but that could've been because I wasn't too keen on the broths that we had. One of them just didn't quite taste right. The reason for the three stars is because the broth wasn't very good and I wasn't a fan of the table set up. I don't think I'll come back but may try again with different broth. read more

Second time here and I would say I have to go down a star this time. They still did not have any of the drinks that are pictured on the back side of the menu (why have them on there at all?) and now it's been some time since they've opened. Secondly, they did not have the Chinese yam that they had the first time I went. My mom loves Chinese yam so that was a big reason of why I brought her, so that was disappointing. Third, the sesame balls were cold and not on a warmer, which made them much less appealing. This time I did not use the grill at all and just focused on the hot pot. Love hotpot so was excited to try this new joint. $45 on a holiday is pretty pricey but the decor was really nice. Whale statue in the entrance and nice lighting. Kinda felt like a club. There was a large selection of noodles, fishcakes/balls, seafoods, and meats for hotpot or Korean bbq. We only did hotpot as the kbbq meats looked interesting. We had tomyum and spicy beef soup. Overall we enjoyed our meal. The hotpot pots are pretty small so it was fine for 2 people but a bigger group it would be crowded. The wagyu beef slices were pretty good and tender. The small crabs were delicious with the body super silky after cooking in the broth. We liked the abalone and fishballs. 90 minutes went pretty fast as that's the time limit but for us it was just enough. Wow, feels like entering a fancy seafood in Las Vegas or NYC. Fancy!! Great vibe ! It's so different than any Hot Pot place in town. Lot of seafood options, including variety of crabs, shellfish, fishes and also, crawfish, shrimp etc, don't forget to try Chinese style slice hot pot meat such as lamb, beef, pork and Wagyu. We tried this after passing it one day and I was THRILLED by it. $45/person for all that you are given is really a solid price as it's a hot pot and Korean bbq combo. Soft drinks and sauce bar are included in the price. Food variety was extensive with several options for bbq and hot pot, with several being available for both. It's quite large so there is a ton of seating available. I will say that a lot of people might be put off by the staff not being overtly friendly, but they clearly do their job and do it well, so them not smiling at you all the time wasn't an issue for us at all. I stopped today to have lunch while I was in Tigard. Wanted to try something different so I figured that hot pot palace was a good choice. Well, can't win them all. I'm not a fan of the food here. You get your choice of two "broth" and you really don't know what you're getting if it's your first time like me. You get to choose Two the first one I chose tasted like and smelled like melted crayons. The second was tasty, but it was so hot. I couldn't eat it. I saw a bits of tried hot peppers in it should've known. There's really no instruction for rookies like me. I was just looking at the food in the salad bar type set up. When I got back to my table, the broth were ready to go. The fire wasn't turned up underneath so they really didn't get hot very fast. Host ca me over and turned them up for me. Things were a bit smoother after that. The food they offer looks very tasty, but in reality, there's really nothing to mention. I grabbed crab legs, but they were so small that there was barely any meat in them. So the struggle was real, trying to get something to eat out of them. The cross cut ribs were actually good if I would've had a different broth, they would've been better. But then he had little dumplings and little fishy things That just weren't that great. At the end of my meal the only thing that I accomplished was making a mess. I was still a bit hungry, but I couldn't eat any more of this. I was afraid they were gonna charge me $10 more for wasting food, which is what the sign says. I just couldn't eat anymore so I figured that I was done. My husband and I usually go to happy lamb hot pot but wanted to try something new. We live very far and get nervous going somewhere new but hot pot is our favorite. I'm going to compare what I liked between the two. The broth at happy lamb is much better, the broth here was way to oily. Also I'm pretty sure we buy the same packets from ranch 99 I loved that it was a get up and self serve. That was ideal and way better than happy lamb. At happy lamb you have to wait at least 30 minutes to eat. They bring out tiny portions and it takes forever and they never bring enough. Here, I love that you can go up and pick what you want to eat. In my opinion it actually saves way more food instead of the servers bringing you out already portioned sizes that you may not be able to finish. The meat was just okay. I didn't care for the Korean bbq meat, it wasn't the best quality. And overall wasn't that great. I liked the sauce bar here a lot because it was more options. Happy lamb is good but you have to pay to go to the sauce bar which I think is ridiculous. Overall the main reason we loved this place is because it was buffet style and you eat much faster since you serve yourself. Also the restaurant is beautiful. We can the weekend that they opened and unfortunately this place left a lot to be desired. Some things that were great and positive. The vibe was great and the restaurant looked amazing they did a wonderful job with the remodel. We did enjoy that it was self serve for the food! No need to wait for someone to bring you the next round. The sauce bar had an amazing selection. The overall issue with this place is quality. The service was poor but I chalked that up to they were new and just opened. While they offer a variety of food for your hotpot the quality was not good. The seafood smelled fishy and did not taste well at all! The two broths we got had zero flavor other than just being spicy. The only meat that tasted ok was the frozen stuff but even that was not to the level of standards at the normal Hot Pot places we go to. I have been twice and both times they didn't have labels out on the food so it was hard to know what you were getting sometimes. The rolled meats were in a roll freezer by the desserts so I missed that. You definitely end up leaving smelling a little stinky from the cooking but overall fun experience to try once or twice. Might have been the worst food I've ever tasted. We tried multiple and multiple soups. They were all disgusting and I don't know how they still managed to mess up a basic grill. We had to switch table because the heater didn't work and the heater still didn't work in the next table. All the food we wanted wasn't even available and they said oops sorry they were mean mugging us because you didn't like the food and they didn't think I understood what they said, and we could hear them talking trash about us. Our waitress was super sweet. Not much of an English speaker, so googling what to do at a hotpot buffet before going would've been useful. We figured it out though. We were excited to try this place out as it's a new spot in the neighborhood. We were lucky to get in without a wait. The place has a nice and trendy ambiance to it. The selection of food was plenty, which was good for an all you can eat place. The concept of both hot pot and bbq at the same time is near and has been around for awhile, but I was happy to see it here. The quality of the items were ok, with the meat for grilling were a bit too tough and the beef ribs being a bit salty for me. Im not sure if it was an off day, but the flavored broths - tom yum and golden broth tasted very off for everyone at the table. It was very overwhelming for all of us. We were able to get them to change it to the origibal broth, which was better. I did like that there was a sauce station for you to mix your own dipping sauce. Was excited to try a place that offers both bbq and hotpot! my party came on a weekday around 5pm and they weren't too busy. For $40 a person was a steal for both options of food, but I see why. The meat quality and options for bbq were subpar. The bar for hotpot had many options but you could tell that it seemed like they used a lot of frozen items that can be bought for cheap (frozen squid, meatballs, fishballs, etc). The flavor of the hotpot was not anything spectacular, had I paid for it as a soup in general, I would have been dissatisfied. I don't think I will be coming back for a second time and will probably steer others away from coming here if invited to an outing here. This was Oregons first ever combined hotpot Korean bbq and I know there are mixed reviews about this but the East Coast and other places have this combo such as KPot a popular franchise. Service was great, decor/ambient lighting was beautiful, but the food selection could be better. The broths were delicious. I loved the different options of veggies, seafood, and fresh/ frozen meats. Hotpot Palace is a buffet-style (serve yourself) hotpot and bbq restaurant. My party was seated right when we walked in, but without the broth/drink menu, so we were left waiting awkwardly for several minutes before a server came by. When the server did come by, they handed us the menu and waited at the table while we were trying to decide together on what soup flavors to pick, which felt a bit awkward and pressured. Once the broth was ordered, you can just get up and start grabbing your food and sauce to bring back from the table. There is a $10 fee for excessive wasted food at the end of your meal to ensure you only grab what you can eat. What we found odd was that the grill side at the table has a parchment sheet over it that they ask you to cook your meats on, most likely to avoid changing the grill. We ended up opting out of grilling any meats because of this and our preferences. read more

Came in on a Sunday evening with a party of 6 adults and an 11 month old around 5pm. The wait was about 30 minutes. The table was a little tight for all of us but we made it work. The restaurant was busy, so they were a little slow to clear the tables and restock the plates. The food itself was okay--nothing special. There's a good variety of options but don't expect the highest quality of food. Having hot pot and a bbq is very unique and fun! Overall, it was about what I was expected. I wanted to like it more but am willing to give it another try. However, there are things that I'd hope to see improvement on next time. Birthday Guests only eat free ON their actual birthday. Their sign does not specify this and we argued with who I think is the assistant manager about this. I told her they need to change their sign so their guests, and she said no. So beware of that if you're celebrating! No exceptions even though my mom's birthday was the next day. There's a 90-minute eat limit. Which I don't think is unfair with how busy they are, but they were very adamant about it. But from the customer perspective, it's hard to do with a bigger group (especially when half the time, my attention goes to feeding my child). The bigger issue I had was with the 3 employees (in addition to the assistant manager) hovering over us at minute 89 and how rude they were. We said we know their rule, and we were finishing up our last bites as fast as we could. Their timer starts when they seat you, even if their buffet has no plates for you to grab food on. I hope that the next time I come in, there's an improvement to food quality and service. This was the first hybrid of a kbbq and hotpot to ever open here, so my friends was quite excited. At first sight, you can see an amazing assortment of meats and vegetables. They even have shrimp paste in a tube which was awesome. Now when it came to seating and setting up to eat... I have never felt so stressed for a dinner. There was so much going on and so little space on the table to maneuver. The downside to having a bar was the fact that people need to constantly get up to grab stuff. It leads to such a hectic and stressful session just to eat. Now only that, but the grill and hotpot section on your table is quite small. In the end I only did the kbbq section and barely touched the hotpot. There was too much upkeep that it's hard to cook and eat and enjoy at the same time... I was also disappointed that they had no proper scissors for cutting meat. All they had was crab cutters :( Also this place is expensive! $45 per person for the luxury of wider selection, but not necessarily better quality. That's great, but not $45 great. I rather pick a dedicated hotpot or kbbq spot to eat and enjoy for less cost and potentially better quality. This was a one time experience only and won't return. read more

I went by myself which is cool that they have solo tables but they change you an extra $5 going alone which I get but you could also set up an introvert single section and I'm sure it'd do well (I'd be back more often) decor is really nice and services quick and friendly but the price tag doesn't match the quality. Even though I live down the road I probably won't stop here and head towards the Beaverton area for a cheaper meal but will come here if friends want to go. read more

The whole place is very nice and clean but also organized- having to get your own portions was nice and better compared to others where you have to eat portions that you can't always finish. You don't really have to talk to the servers as much as you would a regular restaurant so that's good if you don't like that. read more

This new hot pot and bbq restaurant had just opened and decided to go on a Tuesday for AYCE with a group of 5 people and it was fantastic. All the meats, seafood, and veggies are fresh from the self-serving bar. The only small issue was that the table isn't spacious enough. Hot pot and bbq in one is definitely plenty of food to fill you up. The price is reasonable and I recommend having more than 2 people join in to do the AYCE. HotPot Palace is an absolute gem, but it is for experts only. This restaurant is a mix of Chinese hot pot and Korean BBQ. Each table has a place for a hot pot soup base and a small BBQ plate for grilling. In order to be effective in a restaurant like this, you need to know which meats go where. They aren't good at communicating this. The restaurant assumes that you are familiar with both styles. The thin frozen meats in the freezer are meant for hot pot. The meats at the end of the bar are meant for BBQ. All of the seafood and other stuff at the bar are meant to go in the hot pot soup. If you are familiar with Happy Lamb Hot Pot or HaiDiLao, you will know about the soup items. If you are familiar with any Korean BBQ, you should have a good idea about which meats go on the grill. The best part about the Palace is that you can chose your own portions and combinations. That's a feature that you don't get at most of the other restaurants. The selection is great, but again, you really need to be familiar with the different styles to appreciate this place. My family is familiar, so we will definitely be returning. I only have two complaints and they are very minor: 1. Pepsi products. Coke is much better. 2. The desert selection is very limited. If you are unfamiliar with these styles of Asian restaurants, make some Asian friends and have them teach you. read more
