I came here for take out during the pandemic a couple of times. With so many bubble tea places in Rockville, Ding Tea didn't fall as one of my favorites. Drinks are alright, I think they are known for the brown sugar bubble tea but I think some competitors take the cake on this! One thing that fell flat for me was that they typically run out of boba as a topping pretty much every time I've visited. Service is slow making your order, but a experience here that I wasn't really fond of was that while one of the workers were making our drinks - his friend walked in screaming & greeted him and they shook hands in the middle of him making it. Then he went back to making our drinks with no gloves/washing them and he's using spoons to stir and all. Pandemic or not, it was pretty unsanitary to watch right in front of our faces. :( read more

To be totally honest, I did not expect to like this place as much as I did. I thought it was just another bubble tea place with the same stuff and soggy tapioca pearls. MONSTER MILK TEA I thought I didn't like brown sugar milk tea, but this one hit differently!! This was delicious and the tapioca pearls were the perfect consistency!!! It also reminded me of the milk of cinnamon toast crunch. HOKKAIDO BLACK MILK TEA I would recommend getting normal sugar level, I got half sugar (I think...or 70?) and I barely tasted the caramel flavor. Yummy newest bubble tea spot in Rockville! To me, not a huge tea drinker, I think most bubble teas are about the same. What makes it stand out for me is if they have a specialty drink, that no one else has, and how their bubbles taste. Still new and I came a few times where the boba weren't consistent and the sweetest kept changing, but it's a yummy place! I really like their Hokkaido drink which is viet coffee! I like to add their golden bubbles because it has a slightly sweeter taste. If I get any other bubble tea besides the coffee, I am sure to decrease the sweetness since the golden bubbles gives it a little more sweetness. Update! Food: We got the Monster Boba Tea Latte w/ boba (1/3 sugar, can't change ice) and Strawberry Yakult w/ golden boba (1/3 sugar and ice). The monster latte was very underwhelming and pretty much only worth getting for instagram purposes. The yakult tea seemed sweet even with 1/3 sugar. The regular boba was a bit hard so I was not a fan but the golden boba was good. Something I never really paid attention to was ice that is put in these drinks. The ice here is horrible - it's the type of ice that has holes in it and then the boba gets stuck in it so it's even harder to fish out. Clearly this one wasn't thought through. Also don't quite get why the monster tea couldn't have ice adjusted - there was a ton of ice and it was super hard to move my straw around and get all the boba out at the end. Experience: We went on a Sunday afternoon around 2 pm on the second day after their "grand opening" and it was hella packed. Line to order took about 25-30 min to get through and then the drinks took about another 10 min to get. Nothing special about the service and I think there is def room to improve on for taking orders. Update- To the owners comment. It's very dishonest to basically say no such thing had happened when the order had 3 drinks and 3 people heard it because it was ordered on the phone via Bluetooth in car. The person that took the order actually someone else about the topping the cup with tea. And the other person simply say no there will be a gap. Your reply simply denied the fact that what your associate said on the phone at the time did not happen or simply saying I am lying. It's very contradicting and disappointing. Rather replying with a smart comment. Maybe you should spend time to reinforce proper training protocols as how to handle the customers request. Truth is you reply is matching to what two of your associates said that day. Therefore, you should really try to handle it more properly by training your staff to follow instructions instead of making their own rules at your business. read more

Continuing to support local businesses during this tough time: this place happens to be one of the few bubble tea cafe to be open and operating. As you probably would guess, you can only do take out during this time and you have to place an order prior via phone. You can't just go in and place an order. So I gave them a call a few times because they didn't answer their phone the first I'd say 3 times I called. But I knew they were open so I kept trying. Finally got a hold of someone and placed the order for two drinks. Decided to go with strawberry green tea and passion fruit green tea both with regular black bubbles/pearls. When I got there, they had a table set up by the door so people couldn't enter and left the orders on the table with your name on it. I wonder if people would just take someone else's order. They didn't really seem to be policing the table. Anyways, got the drinks and they tasted pretty good. It wasn't too sweet and you can actually taste a bit of the tea, which made it better than being too sweet and making it taste even more artificial. The bubbles weren't that smooth and chewy, but I guess some people would like that. Not sure if they had any ice in it either but it was cold enough. We stopped by for the soft opening this evening because we were curious about the golden (honey) boba. They lend a nice sweetness to the tea compared to the black pearls. I never heard of Ding tea before, but am really happy that they decided to open one up here in Rockville! I had such a great experience with the service and with my drink. I went in knowing exactly what I wanted which was the brown sugar drink that looks like tiger sugar. Don't get that one confused with the brown sugar milk tea tho. Two completely different drinks. First time I went, I got the Monster Brown Sugar boba, and the Strawberry Yakult, second time I went I got the Taro MT. All were very good, not overwhelming sweet. This place is a hidden gem, not too crowded which I like. I got the honey green tea which was pretty standard like any honey green tea I would get at a KFT. I was pleased to see that the establishment offers hand sanitizer right in front of the door. They had a small spaced out line section for ordering and off to the left there was a wide open space for waiting for the order. All the employees were wearing masks and my order only took around 5 minutes to get-- there were maybe 3 orders ahead of mine. I got the regular sized winter melon green tea with black boba. I ordered the Thai milk tea with black boba. They brew their Thai tea in-house, giving it a stronger flavor, in my opinion, compared to others I've tried. It's delicious. They have lots of options, but it's all laid out in a way that's easy to understand (i.e., not too busy or distracting of a menu). Basically one of the best Boba places you can find in the area. Their bubbles have THE best texture out of any of the bubbles I've had in the area hands down. On top of that their tea flavors are great and the milk teas are a kind of milk tea I haven't experienced anywhere else. When I get a milk tea with a fruit flavor I anywhere else I often feel like the flavors end up competing a bit. Not here, the flavors for the fruit meld so well in balance with the milk tea and they serve to complement each other very well. In addition their more commonly found flavors are all great due to the solid tea base. The only thing of note is that the "Brown Sugar Boba" isn't the same as other places, theirs is a black milk tea USING brown sugar. If you're looking more for the kind of Brown Sugar Boba where it has the brown sugar glazing down the sides of the cup you're looking for their Monster Bobo drink. They had a rocky start very early on in their opening days, and if you're like me and tried them during that period I ENCOURGE you to give them another pass now. I was recommended this place to try after having hotpot in the area. This is a chain based out of Taiwan, and located in a small mall with decent parking. The boba is fresh and tasty for sure. I ordered a Hokkaido oolong milk tea at 70% sugar and regular ice. They notified me that they don't use added sugar and instead would simply use less syrup. Regardless, the taste was flavorful, and you could tell the tea was well brewed. I had to add egg pudding as a side, but was pleasantly surprised at how much pudding was given. There was also plenty of seating, with a mix of high bar tables and regular tables. Unfortunately, I would say it's likely too crowded to study in. Overall, this branch stays true to the taste and quality of the overall chain and I would definitely be willing to go back. read more

It is a large location for a bubble tea stop. They have a great spot for taking photos and it's a good gimmick to get you in the store. Unfortunately, the parking can get touch as there just isn't enough for everyone. There are other popular spots in this one small strip. It's great to eat and then come here though but it's tough to come here on popular days. One thing that shocked me was that it was filled with a lot of people working. They have someone for everything and it appears that the bubble tea is hand shaken. The choices are plentiful so you can definitely try something new that you won't find elsewhere which is why I like this spot. I definitely drink way too much bubble tea in a year and changing it up either trying new bubbles or trying new flavors are always welcomed. I really like the bubble tea here. We came the day before their grand opening and got the taro milk tea, Hokkaido oolong, and lychee green tea. We liked the taro and the hokkaido milk tea. There is a pretty big size difference between the smaller and larger size so if you are thirsty you should get the large. On the drink lid I saw that they have locations in a couple of countries which I thought was pretty cool. Because the store is new everything looks clean. But the monster bobo latte was the best brown sugar latte Ive had. Also, the black boba was delicious and great texture I am quite picky with my boba. I still prefer KFT's milk tea personally. - Strawberry Yakult: LOVE this flavor! A good in-between choice if you're in the mood for something fruity and milky. Super refreshing. The signature milk tea had a good milk and tea ratio. The Hokkaido oolong was on the sweeter side even at 70% sugar. The drinks themselves were not anything special compared from other tea spots. However the honey boba and regular boba were perfectly cooked. A good spot to drop by for your boba craving. Update - The service is still a little slow, but the drinks were good. I've tried this place 3 times and can only speak for the fruit tea, but overall I've been really happy with my drinks. First of all, I appreciate that they allow you to customize which tea you want no matter which flavor you choose. They also have a pretty good selection of fruit flavors including a few that most places don't offer. I order 70% or 50% sweet and it's definitely adequately sweet for me. The tea flavor here is strong and comes through in the drink which is great. The first time here our order for multiple people was badly mixed up with the toppings/flavors. But since then the orders have been correct, so check your drinks before you leave. read more

My boyfriend and I went to Ding Tea's opening day last Sat. We waited in line to hopefully get the buy 2, get 1 free special. Turns out that we arrived early enough to be two of the first 100 customers to receive a free boba straw! Ding Tea has both high top and low top tables to sit at. They also have a bench area right underneath the ig wall. The main reason why I wanted to try Ding Tea was for their brown sugar milk tea. The drink was sweet and creamy but it didn't really taste much like brown sugar. Also, the cashier informed me that they weren't able to adjust the sugar levels.
