Ding Tea has a lot going for it. Prices are competitive for their products. The store is cute even though the pandemic has made it impossible to sit inside. The staff is nice. Parking isn't an issue. You can also use contactless payment. But I think their most impressive feat is getting my 78 year old Latino mother to try and to like something. I ordered two large milk green teas with boba for about $11 and my mom drank hers without complaint. My only criticism is that they ran out of regular boba and I had to settle for the golden boba. It just isn't the same. But I am sure next time I'm in the area I'll come back because it is a good location and the service was nice. read more

Discovered this cute place while grabbing food in the area. Coffee is my go-to and they recommended the Hokkaido iced coffee. I told them I don't like it sweet at all and asked for it least sweet as possible regardless of the impact on taste (figured this specialty drink might have a flavored syrup or something), yet it's still super sweet. I enjoyed its overall distinct flavor, but wish they'd communicate if they're unable to make it any less sweet. Other boba cafes let you know if certain drinks can't be adjusted. And they never write it on the label, but they just nod their head at my request, yet it's still hella sweet the three times I've been. Although my hubby likes it and he likes his drinks 100% sweet. I read reviews saying they lessen the drink amount if you ask for less ice/no ice - but I got regular ice yet it's still not filled? (see photo). Also got sea cream as a topping and it was like a thin layer, if we pay extra for it & there's plenty of room, what was the reason for the big gap? Perhaps get new cups or new measuring system bc whatever they're using seems to be consistently off. Honestly this shouldn't even be an issue, especially if we're not asking for any ice adjustments. It should be standard to follow through on the order & size. No shade, but it just comes across stingy AF. If you like sweet coffee, you'd enjoy the Hokkaido coffee. This is my favorite Bubble tea place in the Rockville area. Been coming here almost on a weekly basis to get my bubble tea fix. Now, you have to call-in your order and pay over the phone due to Covid-19. They give you an order number and you go in and pick up your bag with your order number on a table they setup. You can no longer go inside and place your order. My favorite is still the classic Signature Milk tea. Sometimes I put bubbles while other times I don't. Their golden bubbles are sweeter than the black boba if you crave a sweeter drink. I like 50% sugar and ice. The brown sugar milk tea is also good but to me nothing can beat Tiger Sugar in Taiwan for that. My daughters love the Lychee Milk tea and Top Fruit Tea. read more

I wanted to like this joint, but I was real disappointed. Literally right now (check the time stamp), the main picture of this joint advertising some tasty-looking taro drinks. I'm a huge taro dude, so naturally I was attracted to this main picture and made my way to this new Ding Tea location. What do you know--fake news. Not only did they do false advertising, their drinks were just not that good, and the boba tasted old. I could tell it was old and not made well because it was real sticky. Started going here because they are open during covid. Glad I did because their tea is pretty good. I haven't tried too many different drinks but I like the Thai milk tea at 50% milk with grass jelly and the lychee tea with coconut jelly. The Thai milk tea with bubbles is good as well. I like their black bubbles more than the golden bubbles. Have been here 4 or 5 times now. Update hours, open 11:30a-8p. Stopped by early evening on a Sunday and the line was basically to the door. It moved at a decent pace, and it surprisingly didn't take long for my drink order to be called. Decided on the matcha milk tea with golden boba and 70% ice. I thought my drink was okay and wished the matcha came through more. The golden boba didn't taste like honey at all, just plain boba. However, it was cooked well and not too chewy or hard. I also tried the taro milk tea with 70% ice. Again the drink was okay and lacking taro flavor. Although the drinks here were just okay, I'd be back to try other items on their menu. Came here for the soft opening of the bubble tea shop. To start off, God bless theres plenty of parking outside!! It's a pretty small shop, so it may not be best for huge groups. I ordered the monster latte with golden boba. For my first time trying golden boba, let's just say I'm hooked!! This flavor is really good and it makes me want to come back and try the other flavors they have. Of course the customer service was great, no complaints about that. Yet another bubble tea spot in Rockville to try, but that didn't stop us! Love having so many options, and this place is the only one I've heard of with golden boba. This is my go to boba place. It's one of the best boba places in the area in my opinion. They have a wide variety of milk, coffee, yakult/yogurt and fruity drinks from their famous monster bobo latte which is made with brown sugar bubbles to more fruity drinks such as passion fruit tea and lychee. I decided to get one of their "Milk tea lattes" which is a cold drink and is basically like regular milk tea but made with real milk. They give you an option of whole milk or soy milk. I mean't to order soy milk... but totally forgot and didn't mention it. Oops. Good thing I had my lactaid on me haha. After one taste of the tea, I could just tell it was incredibly fresh. Also the tea had a depth of flavor that you find in good teas. The store associate was nice and efficient. I mean... all around, I really enjoyed my experience there. The store is cute and is larger than you would expect for one of those small little dugouts of the Ritchie Center. They had a fair amount of seating which I did not expect. I'm a bit surprised at the 3.5 stars to be honest. My experience was definitely 5 stars. We did opt to take our tea to go... surging Delta Variant and all. But I'm legit honest... I think it's one of the best milk teas I've had in Rockville. For me it's up there on the level of Bubbles and Tea. Now, I can't speak for the boba. This boba b is cutting unnecessary calories. Ding tea is a great addition to the boba scene in the DMV. They're well known for their milk teas and have a uniquely round cup. I got the Jasmine Milk Green Tea and the floral Jasmine notes came through strongly. It was also not overly sweet. The menu had a good variety of choices and lots of unique flavors. They have a really nice set up during COVID-19. When your order is ready, you open the door and see a table with orders placed there. Everything is bagged properly and theres sticky notes with names and what service you used to order. You can't walk in more than a foot or two, which keeps everyone safe. This was the first time I tried Ding Tea and the Hokkaido coffee was amazing. The flavor was bold and strong - so delicious. It also had the perfect amount of ice, for me, which is really hard to find. Also got the passion tea slush - nothing crazy special but was really refreshing. Arrived on grand opening day to check out yet another Boba place in Rockville! There's a private parking lot filled with plentiful spaces available so that's super convenient. It's located in a small shopping strip and it's a fairly small shop. As a gesture for their grand opening, they were offering everyone a buy 2 get 1 free deal and so my friend and I took advantage of that! There's only a regular or large size you can pick from so we chose to get 3 regular size bobas (The Monster, Original Milk Tea and Jasmine Green Tea). I would highly recommend getting the monster again out of all 3 but just know you can't change the sugar or ice level on it. It's a tiny bit sweet but nothing overbearing. I added the golden boba with it and the texture is much like Nata Jelly at Kung Fu Tea or White Pearls at Gong Cha! The Original and Jasmine taste really good too. Their drinks are much more tea-tasting than sugar and I appreciate that! I would say the only downfall to Ding Tea is that there isn't a reward system established yet (or not that I know of). Came for their grand opening. Arrived a wee bit before opening ended up being #7 in line. Once the doors opened it seemed pretty smooth as far as order went however it was very noisy is a small shop with a whole lotta people. I didn't customize much just got the Hokkaido Oolong Milk Tea with egg pudding and golden bubbles with less ice. Now I got bit worried with the drink production process because it looked like I almost ended up with a small drink if the guy hadn't looked and realize it was in the wrong cup. Makes me worry that he just poured all our toppings in a large cup instead of measuring a bit more for a large versus a small cup. Overall the drink was really good probably best milk tea I've had considering I don't ever order milk tea because it normally taste chalky. The golden boba had a nice chew to it not hard like normal boba and it complemented my tea. My only gripe is that they shook my drink. I don't like when people assume I want it shaken I will shake it just put it on the counter so I can self shake. Thank you! This was my first time seeing this business after visiting one of my favorite Thai pots for dinner. After looking up reviews on yelp, I decided to give it a try. The business was clean and social distance was practiced. The employees were friendly and patient with me. There were so many choices/flavors of tea. I was looking for something close to the horchata bubble tea that I usually get down the street but unfortunately they didn't have anything close. I ended up getting the chocolate milk tea with a milk foam. It was so good. Kind of reminded me of a frosty from Wendy's. I would have gotten the tapioca balls but they didn't have any that night and only had the golden balls. I def will try another flavor if I am in the area. It was pretty quiet when I went so I was able to stand on the opposite side of the room from another party waiting for their order. Per the other Yelp reviews, I ordered my Signature Milk Tea at 50% sugar and it was the right amount of sweetness. On the other hand, the Mango Green tea I got for David at 75% sugar was way too sweet in my opinion. Pure syrup collected at the bottom of the drink so we stopped drinking it. Glad I made the 50% adjustment on mine. In general, the drinks were "fine" and nothing super special that would make us want to return here instead of KFT which is why I gave it 3 stars. read more

Overall, really happy with the quality of the drinks. I ordered the passion fruit green tea (Large) and lychee yogurt (Small). It took forever for the order to get ready (which is understandable because there was only two people working there, one person taking orders over the phone and another who was making the drinks). I really liked the quality of the bubble tea over other more mainstream boba places because you could actually taste the tea flavor, though both were super sweet. But this can be adjusted - next time i'm definitely going to ask for 25% sweetness. The packaging is cute and they have a ton of flavors which I want to give a try next time. I came here for take out during the pandemic a couple of times. With so many bubble tea places in Rockville, Ding Tea didn't fall as one of my favorites. Drinks are alright, I think they are known for the brown sugar bubble tea but I think some competitors take the cake on this! One thing that fell flat for me was that they typically run out of boba as a topping pretty much every time I've visited. Service is slow making your order, but a experience here that I wasn't really fond of was that while one of the workers were making our drinks - his friend walked in screaming & greeted him and they shook hands in the middle of him making it. Then he went back to making our drinks with no gloves/washing them and he's using spoons to stir and all. Pandemic or not, it was pretty unsanitary to watch right in front of our faces. :( read more

What makes it stand out for me is if they have a specialty drink, that no one else has, and how their bubbles taste. I like to add their golden bubbles because it has a slightly sweeter taste.
