The menu is similar to most boba shops. I liked that you can adjust the sugar and ice level in the drink. As my first time here, I opted to try their signature milk tea with the golden boba and 30% sweet and 30% ice. The milk tea was pretty good, slightly a little sweet for me. The golden boba is definitely a lot chewier than the normal boba. If you like it super chewy, this is for you. I'm really picky with bubble tea because I used to work at a place for 6 years, so I know good boba. Can honestly say this place is my new favorite to get bubble tea! I'm currently obsessed because finally a good decent place in portland and cost only $3.50 for a milk tea and upgrade to a larger size is only 0.55. I know I'm getting fresh tea because I noticed that on the different tea containers, they wrote the time on it from when it was brewed. And all drinks are made to order, no pre-made. Major plus!!! Drinks were done well and consistent with the Seattle location so I'm happy about that. The taro milk tea is great for taro lovers, smooth and silky! The jasmine green milk tea was also done well, can definitely taste the jasmine! Docked a star due to the wait. Now I get that I went during their grand opening days but it shouldn't take an hour to get my drinks (I ordered two). Arrived around 830pm on Sunday and while there was no line outside, there was a line inside the store that wrapped around. It's cool they allow patrons to customize the amount of sweetness as well as ice for the beverage but this definitely adds to the amount of wait time along with the fact that they only have one register. You'd think they would better prepare themselves for grand opening. Second star docked is due to what I witnessed which was an employee who was handling the toppings, coughing every few seconds into her shirt and even sneezing once without washing her hands in between each cough/sneeze!! At one point an empty cup was knocked over and she proceeded to pick it up and place it back on the counter to be used.... okay very sanitary. Came on grand opening and of course expected a bit of a wait. The drinks I ordered were very good and heard that they don't use dairy! Which is awesome because I'm lactose and the usual boba place I go to doesnt have any milk substitutes. We waited a while for one of our drinks and it turns out that the drink didn't get printed for some reason so we asked what seemed like the manager and he told us in a slightly annoyed tone that "they are still making your drink" which seemed wrong because the person behind us that ordered over 10 drinks got all of their drinks before us. So we asked one of the nice ladies in the drink making area and she found out that our order did not print and made a quick taro milk tea for us. She was very kind I loved her attitude but as for the manager helping with the labels on the drink I'd expect better care for your customers. Overall I love how detailed they get with the drinks, adjusting ice level and sugar levels for you. This was my first time trying Ding Tea and it exceeded my expectations. I went to their grand opening and was impressed with how well trained the staff were. The line was wrapped around the street and the boba crew kept their cool while making the drinks. The menu included milk tea, yakult, and regular tea (hot or cold) options as well as a variety of topping choices. I asked a crew member for some recommendations and ended up ordering three things off of the milk tea section (regular size with 75% sweetness) and they all tasted great. The consistency was very smooth and balanced. My favorite was the honey milk tea with egg pudding. I definitely regretted not getting the egg pudding in all my drinks because it was delicious. I also appreciated the ice options available because I don't like having too much ice in my cup which can dilute the tea flavor. The decor looked nice and I really liked the neon sign. Honestly I have nothing bad to say about this place. The employees were very friendly and understood that it was our first time & let us look at the menu for awhile. I ended up ordering the matcha milk tea with golden boba and aloe Vera. It. Was. So good. It cost me $4.60 My friend got the mango tea mixed with peach tea & even this was amazing! I don't know the price of hers but i think it was $4. She said that next time she'd order her drink a little less sweet I would've kept it as it is because I love how sweet it was but everyone has their own preference & they give you that option!!! Ordered the Guava Green Tea with Lychee Jelly @ half sweetness, and stepped out of my comfort zone and also tried the Hokkaido Black Milk Tea (Caramel) with Egg Pudding @ half sweetness. The person taking my order was super nice and helpful, as I asked a lot of questions because I was interested in trying what they're known for. All recommendations were spot on (sweetness levels and toppings) and I appreciated the patience and transparency. I'm kind of a basic tea drinker, usually sticking to fruity iced teas with jelly so always curious to try something new. Loved the Guava Green Tea with Lychee Jelly, even at half it was still sweet. I should've adjusted the ice though, they put WAY too much and felt like a waste. Hopefully they end up keeping this flavor, I will come back for it. The Hokkaido Black Milk Tea with Egg Pudding was really good. It tasted like... coffee/caramel/tea, but not extremely strong and bitter if that makes any sense, lol. Ding Tea is one of my favorite spots for boba in Portland. I love sugary drinks, so I've never been disappointed here. Their fruit teas are never too watery, always have the right amount of syrups or sugars, and don't leave a weird taste in my mouth. My favorite fruit tea is the Kumquat green tea. Their milk teas are also always on point. My favorite is the wintermelon milk tea - everywhere else I go for this specific drink, make it wrong or just plain bad. The golden boba here is good if you like honey. They are so smooth and sweet, perfect in milk teas. The staff here is super nice and helpful, and not pushy or seeming like they hate their job. You can really tell everyone is trying to push drinks out as fast and possible and with the highest quality as possible. If there is anything wrong with the drink, or something is off, they do their best to make it better. The only downside here is that when it gets packed, it gets super crowded. The place is small, so the line can wrap around the whole store, but I've never had to wait more than 15 minutes. read more

Ding Tea has been open through Covid, albeit with a store front ordering only option. I've had a big craving for iced milk tea and apparently so has the rest of the Southeast Portland neighborhood in the vicinity. There's at least two or three people in line no matter what time of day I go, but the staff is really quick and friendly. I would recommend looking at the menu before you go, as you need to know several individual items ahead of time to order smoothly, such as if you want half sweet, half iced, what flavor and what sort of Boba (if any)you want in your drink. I always get the signature milk tea, half sweet with black Boba and I can barely make it around the block without drinking half of it. This is the best boba in the east side. Haven't had anything else in the area that comes close. My top flavors are black tea w egg pudding, jasmine milk tea w egg pudding, and basic milk tea. Light ice with 50% or less sugar. If your boba spot can't get these basic flavors right, then run. You will get crowds of people when you come here. Line may be wrapped around the center table they have inside. Parking may suck. But it's worth the drive for GOOD BOBA! I do love how they have the option to adjust the ice and sugar levels. I got the classic milk tea with tapioca and i can easily say it's the best I've had in Oregon. It looks modern and clean though, which I would appreciate because if I were to come when there's a line, I would just pay attention to my surroundings. First off, soft opening day will be hectic, so I decided to try this place three times before writing a review. Second, some of the reviews posted here seems to be created by fake Yelp users in a mission to take DT down, it seems. Location is right off the freeway and the parking lot is tiny. Park on the streets - it's free - and there's plenty of room. Avoid parking in the food carts lot or the planet fitness lot. I LOVE their signature "monster" drink, it's a super popular boba drink in Asia and it's finally available in Portland! While the rest of their drinks is a 4 stars, their monster drink is definitely a 5. It's unique and delicious. Their traditional milk tea is quite good as well, I wouldn't say it's one of the best I've ever had, but it is one of the better ones in Portland, and the best in the east side of town (so unless you want to drive to Beaverton, DT is the way to go for traditional bubble tea). The customer services was a bit more rough in the soft opening days - but significantly improved over the past visits. Staff knows the menu better now and got the process down. Line moves a lot faster and it doesn't take too long to receive my drinks. They have more than 5 people working each time that I went. read more

Recently, I have been quite impressed with Portland's new boba game, so I'm not too surprised that Ding Tea has joined the arsenal. I've heard a lot about this chain from my Californian friends and was eager to try it. With it's recent opening, drinks are BOGO (buy one, get one) 50% off! This might explain the 40ish-minute wait (stretching outside into the rain!). +WINTER MELON MILK TEA: This drink comes quite sweet, as is the nature of winter melon. I got this 50% sugar and quite enjoyed the flavor and sweetness! Would recommend this one! Just a note, they did run out of their golden boba while I was there, and the wait for it was 30 minutes. To be fair, it's newly opened and the volume of customers was high, so this seems excusable. Also, the regular size boba cups have such a cute rounded bottom (though I tend to get larges, might as well right?). All in all, I enjoyed the boba at Ding Tea and am looking forward to returning!
