They have excellent burgers. Definitely the best burgers in the area. The customer service is phenomenal. Thank you to Shannon for consistent excellent customer service.

The new Roadrunner cafe in Dayton Nevada on the loneliest highway 50. Inside the casino Carson Plains. Good parking for the small town, but inside an older casino that smells of smoke. Bathrooms are close to restaurants, seats about 60 or more guests. Sunday had a 30 minute wait. Service was good and friendly. Coffee could be better and food was really good and priced reasonably but a bit high for this area. This restaurant is geared towards conservative politically. TV inside with local channels that was covering news. Clean, fast and friendly atmosphere.

Just a little diner in Dayton Nevada on highway 50 but it produces the most delicious breakfasts. The restaurant is open from 6:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. there are half a dozen tables and a counter with chairs. The owner is always there serving breakfast and lunch to her patrons. The coffee is delicious and hot and constantly being refilled in your cup. Today we decided to try the chicken fried steak and the biscuits and gravy. Both platters were overflowing with good food. there are numerous options to choose from and numerous sides to go with plus loads of fresh homemade bread to accompany your meal. The restaurant is clean and very cutely designed as a roadside cafe. You will not leave hungry and the prices are great. I highly recommend you checking this spot out.

Roadrunner was clean and the upgrades to the restaurant look nice. Shannon is a wonderful and friendly server. She definitely makes the visit worth the time. Today I ordered the bacon breakfast burrito and substituted fries for the potatoes. The burrito was ok. There was very little bacon and the burrito was overall bland. The burrito was large in size. I was craving fries and so I was sad when most of my fries were extremely undercooked to the point of raw. I have heard that the food is better when one of the guys are cooking instead of the lady that was today so I hope I will experience one of them cooking on my next visit.

If you have ever been to Dayton NV you know very well the options for lunch are slim to none. Roadrunner Cafe is one of the two non fast food spots in town. It's a small hole in an old strip mall. Pulling in you know it's gonna be a place where you are going to get simple food. No fancy's sauces, no fancy options and nothing "organic" lol. Yes, they are not spotless clean but they are also not filthy. Before even walking in you know what you are going to get inside cleanliness wise. So judging or expecting it to be spotless clean is foolish and honestly dumb imo to rate/judge. Everything is old school diner and honestly if you complain a little too much I'm sure they going to old school kick you out before giving you a discount. I came with a colleague and we both had similar expectations. We wanted someone fresh cooked for us and that's exactly what we got. For the same price as a fast food combo we got a fresh southwest scramble with a coffee. I'll take that 10/10 times over some fast food garbage. I am not in Dayton very often for lunch but I can see myself coming back.

There is a new staff and we have noticed a slight decrease in the attentiveness and friendliness with this staff. Today I ordered water (they were out of Dragon's Milk beer) and a French Dip sandwich (no onions). The sandwich was delicious. The meat was tender and well seasoned. The cheese was perfectly melted. The toasted yet fluffy bread complemented the sandwich perfectly as did the rich, umami au jus. We had 12 people with us (whole family in town), so we were excited to support a local place and bring them a big table of business. Unfortunately, multiple meals came out cold (5 in total), and we mentioned it immediately - calmly and respectfully - because we assumed they'd want the chance to fix it. Our waitress, Yemi, was honestly the best part of the lunch. She was attentive, kind, and genuinely apologetic. She handled everything with professionalism and grace. The manager (who may also be a cook) is what ruined it. He was angry, hostile, combative and argumentative right away - and what stood out most is he didn't even lead with solutions like re-cooking, replacing plates, or trying to make it right. No real apology for the food, and definitely no apology for the experience. It wasn't until AFTER we told him his attitude was awful and that he needs to leave us alone and let the waitress handle it (as he is making things worse) that he offered to either take the meals off the bill or remake them- and he didn't apologize at all, then with a massive chip on his shoulder he said again he didn't believe our food was cold. Some of us said take their food off the bill and some one of us had it remade. At the end as we were leaving, he actually doubled down on his awfulness and gave what felt like a sorry excuse for an apology. His version of "sorry" was basically: "I should have been nicer when telling you that you were wrong about the food being bad or cold." Then he said, "I'm sorry, I'm just really passionate about my food - especially when I'm told it was cold when I know it was hot."..... SERIOUSLY!? That's your apology for our experience and multiple people immediately telling you the food was cold, why would that many people lie.... Wow So... not an apology for our experience, not an apology for the cold food - more like "sorry you saw me get upset while I told you you were wrong." Food mistakes happen. How management handles them is what matters - and this was handled terribly. We won't be returning, and I'm sharing this so others know what to expect. Again, Yemi was great - she deserved way more support than she got.

Our server was friendly and knowledgeable, and she did a great job walking us through the day's specials as well as some of her favorite picks. I started with the In Crowd cocktail and really enjoyed it. The coconut, basil, and bitters balanced beautifully with the gin, making for a super refreshing drink that felt especially perfect for spring or summer weather. We followed our server's advice and ordered four items, two larger plates and two starters, and everything was delicious. Here's the breakdown: Trout Dip: Fantastic smoky, fishy flavor in all the right ways, served with crostinis. The only small nitpick was that the crostinis were overdone for my taste and shattered loudly when bitten into. Grilled Prawns: Super meaty and seasoned and sauced perfectly, with a bed of slaw that balanced the dish nicely. Scallops: Seared to perfection and in an addicting red Thai curry sauce. I was intrigued by the combo of kimchi, grits, and curry and have to say that it somehow blends amazingly well. Lamb Chops: Cooked to a perfect medium rare, expertly seasoned, with little gaminess and a cooling yogurt sauce that really brought the dish together. All in all, it was a fantastic meal and easy to see why this place is such a favorite among both locals and tourists. The food, the drinks, and the service all come together to make this a great option for any occasion from a casual night out (us) to celebrating something memorable like a graduation (several were happening while we were there).

However, service has been a challenge during each visit. On our most recent visit, it took about 20 minutes to be seated with a party of four, including a child, even though there appeared to be open tables. After sitting down, it took several minutes before we were greeted. Our server brought waters and later took drink orders, but there wasn't much communication about timing or whether they were short staffed. Once we placed our order, we waited close to an hour for our food. We completely understand that restaurants can get busy and staffing can be tight -- we just would have appreciated a quick update along the way. A little communication goes a long way and helps set expectations. When our food arrived, part of the order was incorrect (we had requested a salad and soup substitution but only received fries). The server corrected it, and the food itself was good. It did come out at different times, and we noticed another table seated after us received their food much sooner, which was a bit confusing. We truly want to support Roy's and hope this feedback is helpful. With stronger communication and smoother service flow, it could be a great experience.
