Don't be fooled by the modest exterior or the repurposed interior of a former Japanese restaurant; the food here is as good as it gets! Everything is cooked to order. The flavors are bright and distinct. The appetizer sampler had several perfectly fried pakoras and a large samosa, with tamarind and mint sauces for dipping. I could've made a meal of that dish alone. The lamb rogan josh was the best version of this dish that I have ever tasted. The lamb was tender and lean. I generally have to trim a lot of fat off lamb in Indian restaurants, but every piece was perfectly trimmed, which shows inordinate attention to detail. Our waiter was extremely helpful with menu suggestions as well as the level of spiciness for our food. He informed us that instead of the usual mild-medium-hot levels, there was a "regular" option, between mild and medium. That proved perfect for someone like me who enjoys a bit of spiciness, but not so much that the taste of the food is eclipsed by fiery spices. Had lunch buffet on a Saturday with my Dad and it was just ok. The food was not hot (lukewarm) which is worrisome. The selection was limited - 4 kinds of chicken ( the usual tandoori, tikka masala, vindaloo) and 4 vegetarian dishes (dal, two kinds of potatoes and saag paneer). There was vegetable pakora and naan. The pakora was very greasy. The tandoori chicken was tasty but there was very little of it. One of the naan seemed undercooked. Not really impressed. I've been here twice now and it's an enjoyable experience. Both times I've gotten Lamb Vindaloo, Naan, and Mango Lassi. The food is about par for the course amongst the Indian restaurants I've been to. I was excited to try the Indian spice level for my Vindaloo but the first time the waitress spent nearly a minute trying to dissuade me from having Indian hot (I get where they are coming from but a simple "Are you sure?" should suffice.) The second time I went the Indian Hot wasn't nearly as spicy as the first time and I said so at the register when I went to pay. I was told that I didn't order Indian hot and only hot. It explains why I received less spicy Vindaloo but not why my order was mistaken. No biggie because the food was still good. The lassi was solid, naan was naan, rice was rice, and the Vindaloo really does have good flavor, just disappointed they are withholding all of that heat. read more

My family loves Indian food, and we are glad to have this place nearby. we have been for the buffet at lunch, and enjoyed everything. we have also had dinner, and liked our menu selections. if you like Indian food, you will enjoy how well they prepare it. However, the atmosphere is strange, and dark, as if they are planning on remodeling, but just haven't gotten around to it for 14 months. and I have never seen more than 10 people in there. This was the first time I had Indian food and it was super yummy. The place was quiet and clean. We came at lunch time, but ordered off the menu versus getting the buffet. We got the goat rogan (mild) and goat coconut. The coconut was creamy and delicious and the mild curry had just enough of a kick in it. I don't think I could have said I'd enjoy the hot, it would have been to spicy to taste the food. Mild was great and the lamb was amazing. I have never been to the lunch buffet, but we have been for dinner several times. While the food takes a while in it's preparation, everything is fresh and done with care. Favorites are the tandoori chicken, kadai chicken, and the lamb pasanda. As long as they keep doing it the way they are doing it, I will go back over and over again. Good stuff! read more

The food was very good. The place was very clean and very kind. We enjoyed Chicken Tikka masala which is not spicy at all of you get mild. We also had a Lamb and spinach dish which was very yummy. We were big fans of this place when it was on 9th Ave. as India Palace. Same family and menu on Hwy 29, and that's great because now it's closer to home. We've each tried several dishes, but I've been stuck on the Chicken Chatinald for a bit, and she's homed in on the Chicken Afghani as our personal favorites. Both are outstanding. Bear in mind that "hot" is still pretty flavorful, but can make your scalp sweat. Medium is the sweet spot for me. I've enjoyed the biriyani and the vindaloo dishes as well, and haven't had a bad dish yet. Service is friendly but isn't always chain restaurant speedy - that's fine with me considering the quality of the food. read more

Just had their food for the first time tonight. I live closer to this restaurant than the other Indian restaurant in downtown on Gregory St. Not for nothing but this restaurant is better.
