Called in a takeout. Order was for C17 Shrimp Egg Foo Yong. They had C20 Hunan Chicken or Pork. Refused to pay for wrong order. It got ugly with owner screaming at me demanding I pay. He told me to get out, and never come back. I've been a customer for years. I'm 79 years old, and have never been treated like that. This is THE worst of all the Chinese food we have tried in Pirate'cola. Our takeout was awful & the inside is worse than a hospital room in the terminally ill wing. It's not a place you want to dine in. When we first came to Pirate'cola we tried all the Chinese food places FIRST till I found Chef King the Red dragon. The Lo mein here is a total rip off has barely any proteins too much veg in it, making it wet & has a very strange taste. Hubby's Sweet & Sour pork was overly fried, way too sweet pre-coated in the sauce. That's not the way it's suppose to be served. The sauce comes on the side just FYI. Their fried rice is not fried rice at all. It's just rice with some soy sauce. We never returned for a reason. They literally have multiple signs when you walk in stating they do not do exchanges or refunds for bad food. Think about that. That should've been our first and only clue. General Tso's chicken was OK, wasn't spicy even though I ordered extra spicy but flavor was okay. My wife's pepper steak was bland and had an awful rubbery texture. Wonton soup had no flavor. I've been coming here for years I absolutely love this place, but since the owner brought his Aunt in to work the front counter she has messed up my order multiple times. I've paid for food I didn't even order, the items I do order will be incorrect, or she has given me something different from what I ordered. when I call or go back in to get it fixed she tells you no and will go back and fourth with you and swears up and down you messed up NOT her. Today I go in after almost 2 months, ordered my food she did not tell me she was out of most veggies. So my plate was missing more than half the ingredients. If I was told when ordering I would have chosen not to even order due to the fact I mainly eat vegetables. When I called back because I see I had a plate of only mainly onions and some broccoli I was confused, she tells me it's okay next time she will ask to see if they have the veggies but they were out of the other veggies today. Then I asked her why I was charged for the extra vegetables if I didn't get any vegetables she tells me they did add the extra onion and broccoli. Its because I have no mushroom and carrots why it looks like that. I just can not keep wasting my money on food that's either incorrect or missing most the ingredients. read more

On Google this business gets over 4 stars. I should have trusted the Yelp ratings. I actually really like their online ordering system. However, the food was very disappointing. It was the first time I've ever had Chinese food where I wondered if they used any seasoning at all. And we are pretty sure they used spaghetti noodles for their "Lo Mein". It seems every Chinese restaurant we stop at has a different take on Chinese food. So, did this place. To begin with we've never been to a Chinese restaurant that didn't serve hot tea but this place doesn't. There were four of us and half ordered off the lunch menu. Server was pleasant and food came out fairly fast. However, she has learned how not to ignore guest. We couldn't get her attention so finally had to get up and go to cashier to get take-out boxes and our check. The food: Normally, we love pork chow mein. It was very different here and not much flavor. Pork fried rice was pretty good but a little on the dry side. However, it was okay. The teriyaki chicken was pretty good but it came cooked in onions and green peppers and those aren't listed on the menu -- not a fan of that with teriyaki chicken. Husband used men's room while we were there and said it was filthy. That kind of took his appetite away because he wondered about the kitchen. Oh well, it was busy and lots of military there because it's close to the base but we probably wouldn't go back. read more

Oil. That is definitely the impression I got from this place. I expect a certain amount of excess oil from an American Chinese restaurant, but this was bad. I had to physically drain the oil from my food. I got broccoli beef, and the flavour of the oil overpowered everything else. The chow mein (which they call lo mein) was decent, but also overly oily. The food was prepared quickly though. Overall for the price, not worth it. Only reason they get two stars instead of one, is because the workers were helpful and polite. read more

Horrible front of house! Complete disregard for customer service!!! I made a simple telephone order of sesame chicken And mei fun shrimp. Apparently she heard mushroom shrimp. When I arrived home I called to inform them that I had received an incorrect order. She read my order back to me over the phone stating I had ordered mushroom shrimp. I told her she had misheard mei fun shrimp. She got an attitude stating she read my order back to me (which she did not) and that she always reads the order back. After a little back and forth, where she basically continued to call me a liar she tried to charge me for the mei fun that I originally ordered. I insisted that I wasn't paying for additional food and was made to bring back the nasty mushroom shrimp I didn't order in the first place (which makes me seriously question if they are serving returned messed up orders). Looking for authentic Chinese food in the panhandle s definitely a wok on the wild side. You can settle for a good knock-off with an affordable price at the Grape Garden. It's not a dolled up tourist attraction with panda bears, trinkets and rugs on the walls. This small unsuspecting building doesn't do much to stand out and once you walk inside it feels like a corporate receptionist desk with a few food images on the back wall. Once you get past the dullness and order some food it's not half bad. I picked up some orange chicken to go that gave the fragrance of zesty oranges as if just plucked from your backyard. I wish the noodles had as much flavor as the oranges, but they were just so bland and wiggled around like worms in the dirt. The price is decent enough to try again. read more

This is my favorite Chinese place in the immediate area. I really like the moo shu pork. We typically order carry out. I have never eaten in the restaurant and we have only had it delivered a couple times. The last time we ordered for delivery it took well over an hour, which we weren't thrilled about. I pre-ordered over the phone and the food was ready by the time I got there - which was about 10 mins. I ordered the general tso chicken with shrimp fried rice meal. Came out to be $8. It came with an egg roll - which turned out to be the best part of the meal even though it was the shortest egg roll I've eve seen. The chicken looked good - you could see all the seasoning and spices but it lacked flavor. The rice had a few shrimps in them but wasn't tasty. The restaurant it self was small but clean. This is a fantastic find. It is unfortunate that I don't have many reasons to head to the the West side of P'cola more often. The Grape Garden is a beacon of foodie hope for our small town. The dining room was spotless and the all to common buffet which I dread was nowhere to be found. The service taking our orders was extremely polite and efficient and we begged for a moment to look through long list of dishes. This space is a Big Lots neighbor so don't expect designer a dining room, nothing personal about an East side Sharky restaurant that emerged last year but, they should have saved the money on the fountain and black paint and hired the chefs at Grape Garden. The fair is a down to earth Chinese-American grouping of favorites like Sweet and Sour, Egg Rolls, Won Ton Soup, etc. That being said, the first thing that impressed me was the down-to-earth prices. The combos were less than $7 today. The plates were hot, heaping, and clearly just cooked, heaping portions of protein and rice. we sampled the basics of Sesame Chicken and Sweet and Sour Pork that come with your choice of white or stir fried rice and an egg roll. Each plate had portions were clearly appropriate for two. That didn't slow us down, after all we do have Pro-Am waistlines. The stir fried rice and egg roll were clearly as fresh as the main dish. We waddled out too full for less than $17 including two sodas. The skinny: The restaurants on the East side of town need to take note.
