I went to the store restaurant side of Dino's last night with some friends (Cafe Margarita). I should have taken a picture or two but I was too excited to dive into my delicious meal. I ordered an Off Menu item which was made perfectly. Its called Flounder Livornese with White Wine Sauce. The Flounder Livornese that is on the menu is made with tomato sauce, but I prefer the white wine sauce. We've been coming here for over 40 years. In the beginning there was only the front of the pizza side. Eventually, they expanded into the back room. Finally, they added the dining room (at one time a liquor store with a small bar. There was an A&P where the now vacant Marshalls was located. The food and pizza are now and always have been delicious. Frank, Gino, Sue, and the rest of the staff have always been wonderful. Always willing to accommodate special requests. Came in last night and ordered two large pies and two 2litters of soda. Total cost $40.85. Well like most people sometimes you don't always eat what you order. I called the store to let them know that the slice I'm currently eating has a hair baked into the crust of the pizza. The owner or manager of the this terribly ran sorry excuse for a pizzeria tells me that he can only give me a small discount for the hair that was baked into my food. I hung up and started to right this bad review when I said to myself let me give them another shot and call and see if there is anything I can do about losing 20$ on a pizza I will not feed my family and the guy tells me that he'll only refund me a slice because that's the only part the hair was on. just DO NOT go. For a multitude of reasons. First being the customer service is absolutely nonexistent they treat you like you are bothering them and are incredibly rude. They don't clean the oven so your pizza will have a thick layer of burnt dust on the bottom. This places owes me at least $120 by now. Let me explain: The food is fine, I enjoy it. But... every - single - time... I have placed a delivery order... I am NEVER delivered the right order. It ruins the experience and leads to food waste. Not to mention, a waste of my own money. The first three times, I didn't complain. Because I understand that the food/service industry can get hectic. The fourth time they delivered me the wrong order, I called to let them know the issue, and I did not ask them to correct their mistake or refund me. But this is now the FIFTH time that I have ordered the same exact dish I always do, and instead, they sent me the wrong menu item. It doesn't matter how many times I repeat the order or ask them to repeat it back to me... It still comes wrong. It's ridiculous, and very telling of a bigger issue within the restaurant. My family and I were in the mood for Italian tonight. Usually we go to joe and Anthony's but they are on vacation. So decided to try Dino's. Ordered fried calamari. Didn't look like it was fully cooked super super soggy and oily. No crunch to it what so ever. I even tried throwing it in the broiler to cook it a little more. Didn't work. My wife ordered a pasta dish and asked for chicken in it and there was no chicken added. She also ordered baked clams and they were too fishy for her pallet to eat more than one. I ordered chicken parm thinking that's a safe order to place from somewhere we've never been. how can you mess that up. Usually a bad chicken parm is still edible. Well when you use frozen chicken patties instead of real chicken cutlets you destroy a simple dish. I ended up throwing it out. Legit frozen chicken pressed into a shape and coating in plain breading. The pasta and sauce that came with their chicken nugget parm wasn't terrible. We also got the kids a pizza and that was edible but a bit too much sauce and too much sag in the crust. Overall we will not be ordering from here ever again. This place has sub-par food! I ordered a large pie tonight,only place around that charges extra on a customers debit card!!!! The pizza box always has a coupon attached to it so that when you reach 10 your next pie is free. They wouldn't write me a coupon for my purchase.,and said they didn't know when they would get the boxes back in. Very nasty about it,and only cared about their bottom line,not the customer!! I ended up getting globs of uncooked peppers and onions and upon calling to complain was yelled at saying I did not say "light on toppings" with zero apology or any resolution other than speaking over me!! Staying in the area and hit up Dino's on two occasions. The pricing is very reasonable, as I spent $12 on what they have as a "small" pizza, which consists of 6 large slices and enough for at least two people. The pizza was very good and have no complaints whatsoever. Their menu is pretty extensive so my review is lacking as I only had the pizza. The food was average that's not my complaint, My complaint I went with my husband and 11 year old son on Sunday. At a large table was a group of older foreign men watching a soccer game. As we passed the men all stared at me (undressing me with their eyes) You would think they have never seen a woman before. They were definitely friends of the owner because they were going behind the counter. Overall, A horrible feeling for myself, my husband and my son. Being born and raised in Jersey you know what a decent pie should taste like so im almost shocked at how horrible the pizza from here really was. enough that I cared to drop a yelp review Because I want others to be aware before making the mistake of ordering here, we'll at least not the pizza. this area is my most recent "jersey home" and I knew I'd never heard of this place until tonight for a reason... when I came back to my home state from having met my spouse in PA & now living there for 10+ years now. to help my sister move. i was beyond excited to have "real" pizza, as I know it and when she said she was ordering from her fav place one last time before she moves out of state, that set the bar even higher. Good pizza but frustrating staff. With everything going on with the virus nowadays, people working in food service should be some of the first to adhear to PPE usage. Upon waiting for my order, the delivery kid sitting in the front booth had his mask down up until I paid for my food, the older gentlemen who was making the pizzas had his mask around his neck while the slightly younger gentlemen had NO MASK AT ALL. My daughters and their friend had a confirmation party in Dino's party room. All was well until they ran out of food for 60 people and argued when we asked for more. They stated it was too expensive to make more.. My office regularly orders from Dino's. The Pasta Fagioli soup was the worst I've had in my life! It looked liked dirty dishwater and was tasteless. My lunch didn't come with a spoon or even a napkin. When I called the restaurant to inquire how they make their soup, certain it was half made and missing the vegetables (carrots, onions, celery & tomatoes) and spices, the owner was EXTREMELY RUDE and told me "I'm from Sicily and you don't know S--T!!!" This place has a very unwelcoming vibe to it. I've been here three times and the service has always been so slow. During the third visit the only one behind the counter was the old guy and he just looked at me and then turned his back, he wasn't even making pizza, prepping food, or putting things into the oven. Pizza and pasta took forever and was undercooked. Service was slow. No free refills on fountain drinks. The pizza was done so poorly done it was missing dough from parts of the bottom so the cheese was falling through. Table service area has nice linen tablecloths, but you then get handed menus that are just folded photocopies. Asked to get slices wrapped to go, and they just put them on a plate in a bag, with nothing covering the slices to keep the bag from getting stuck to the cheese. I'm new to the area and tried to check out a slice of Dino's one night after work on a recommendation from a Budd Lake resident. There was a short line waiting, and the counter person was stuck on the phone with an upset customer about how they portion their chicken. This went on too long for me to wait, so I was like, aight Imma head out. While I was there, the aroma was very inviting, and there were people speaking Italian waving their arms around as they clammer on about who knows what. And the customers didn't seem to mind having to be waiting. With these factors in mind I decided to just order online another time. I first tried their plain cheese pizza. It was very tasty and I enjoyed the soft bendable crust very much. Most of the sauce I've tasted since moving to NJ all seems to taste the same, as if it's from the same source. This was not the case with my pie from Dino's. The sauce had some kick to it, I don't eat spicy food, so might just be me. But I liked it. The driver was prompt and seemed like an all around wholesome good dude. I slid him $4 and sent him on his merry way. Next I tried their penne vodka. It was delicious. I planned to save half for later, however when 2/3rd's of the dish were already consumed, I came to terms that I'd simply complete the task and succumb to my inevitable on-coming food coma instead. I ordered this dish again today, and it was consistent with the last. The only bad thing I could say is that the bread I got today tasted as if it might be from the day before. Horrible. First, they didn't have an item that I ordered, so I picked another option that was less expensive. I wasn't refunded the difference. Second, I ordered a grilled chicken, roasted pepper and mozzarella panini. It came on a sub roll LOADED with raw garlic. Nowhere on the menu does it say that this has any garlic in it. This is the second time they've messed up an order. Needless to say, I will never order from them again. Shame, because their broccoli rabe is good..... The best! To have this gem right near where I was in town for work was a god send! The sandwiches are so good. Meatball with mozzarella on that fantastic crunchy bread, oh! If you're looking for Pizza delivery in Stanhope Dino's is honestly the best. We've tried other locations around the area but they're all over priced and the food really isn't worth it. Dino's is really good, our favorite is the Honey Mustard Chicken Pizza. I know, sounds weird but it's delicious. They make really good "different" types of pizza- they don't skimp on toppings either. We've tried the Buffalo Chicken pizza as suggested and it was good but seriously LOADED. It's very spicy too, but it was a little over the top but for the price it was a really good deal. The fried calamari is also delicious! Pizza is Fast and normally pretty light on your wallet- Dino's delivers that and it's yummy too. Other places in Stanhope WILL rip you off.. Trust me. read more
