Wish I could rate negative stars. I have never in my life been to an establishment with nastier employees or worse customer service. I ordered food online, showed up to get it 35 minutes later, was told that it'll be a few minutes and that my order was not a priority, waited another 20 minutes, all the while the staff is scoffing and making snide remarks about the fact that I was perturbed by their lack of pride and quality in their workplace. The man told me I could wait by the door for my food because he didn't want to "deal with me", and the middle-aged blonde woman (who had her out-of-control child running amok behind the counter) actually denied me a refund and continuously ignored me to talk to other customers. As a GRAND FINALE, the blonde loser told me to "get the f*** out" and to not come back. No apologies for slow and poor service, no respect for any customers, and no positive example to set for her child. I pity her and her son, as she clearly has no idea what she's doing in life, or in her workplace. Garbage people, garbage service, all around garbage! As long as you don't mind being treated like a raccoon who has crawled out of the dumpster and into the restaurant, the food is mediocre and usually doesn't make me nauseous. read more

As two sisters from Connecticut and Oregon visiting our original homebase in Sparta,New Jersey we found the in town restaurants crowded and very formal. We just happened to find Uncle Sal's on Google Maps. Our luck! 'Kelly' was a wonderful host, warm, friendly, accomdating and thoughtful. The other emplyees equally as inviting. We ordered Uncle Sal's Special Salad and a pizza to share. Excellent! The food is made from scratch, even house-made mozarella. Locals who visited the restaurant while we ate all left smiling, laughing or just please with their interations and foods to go. The portions were generous, the quality top of the line. Uncle Sal's has an extensive menu to choose from and people who care about good food and customers. I recommend them highly. We wish they were in Connecticut and Oregon! read more

Just moved to the area, was told by a neighbor how great their pizza was. My neighbor did not lie, we got their Italiano salad and 3 extra large pies, 1 cheese, 1 pepperoni and 1 mushroom. When I said they couldn't miss my driveway due to the moving truck they offered to bring me plates! Now that's amazing customer service, they said 45 minutes they were here in about 40. Terrible customer service. Sent a burnt pizza with bubbles all over it..so we called to complain...he gave us a hard time but eventually offered a refund.. and then he texted me saying he wont deliver to us again...and we order from them at least once a week.. clearly shows how little they really care and take no pride in their food read more

Wish you could give 0 stars. Waited an hour and a half for my pizza only to be told that they couldn't find my house (which is on a popular road and easily accessible by GPS). Was never notified about this issue, instead they just decided not to deliver the pizza without even a phone call. Person who answered the phone was very confrontational and had little regard for me as a customer. His attitude disgusted me. Even after offering directions I was told we would not be receiving our food. Thanks Uncle Sal. Will not be patronizing the workplace of this arrogant man in the future. read more

The first time I ordered from there, I was hoping for the best. I ordered a few items, which came out to like $40. All of the food I received wasn't that great, but the meatballs made me complain. They really tasted and looked like ALPO. I called them to let them know it was really bad. To their credit it seemed they wanted to refund me or offer me a credit. Since they were new I didn't want to take it, just gave them my opinion. After work since I stopped there a few times to pick up slices, but they never have any. First time they had no plain, or Sicilian. Second time same.. Third time exactly the same. What pizza place doesn't have pizza slices to serve? They didn't even offer to make me any and honestly I would have waited. Tonight takes the cake. I picked up a few meals, and one of them was a chicken parm over pasta.. Chicken was PINK.. Was not cooked.. If they contact me to refund me, I would take it this time. But I am not calling again. I can not believe my 10 year daughter ate RAW CHICKEN! read more

Had to get oil changed in my car across the street, so decided to take the family to get some pizza during the wait. Could not describe how surprised we were to realize we just stumbled upon (in our opinion) possibly the best pizza in Sussex county. We moved recently from Queens and are very picky when it comes to our pizza. We didn't even get a fresh pie, we ordered slices that were already sitting out and WOW! The Crust was not thick and doughy, but on the thinner side and slightly crisp. The sauce quality was on point and was slightly sweet but not to the point I would call it a sweet sauce. I even had a bite of their specialty slices that my wife ordered (I think it was chicken fajita and a BBQ chicken slice) and was blown away. I normally hate "anti-pizzas'. Besides the fact that the gentleman working the counter, who I believe was either owner or manager, was the nicest guy and very patient with us and our kids. Normally I don't write reviews, however in this case I needed to add to the two reviews by Grace W. and Joan W. because I was a witness to that spectacle. First I like to say Sal's has been in Sparta for over 2 years, I get something from them every week so I've ordered something from them at least 100 times. He has made a mistake with my order exactly 2 times and in both occasions he more than made up for the mistake and was very apologetic. And yes he was very busy on this day and with all the Pizzerias in Sparta, he can't be too bad. Now some details that were omitted, 1st of all the woman customer was very irate and a total "B" from the get-go, I can see why she ordered on-line because she has very little social skills. I was trying to ignore the situation and you could see that the other patrons were also bothered by her behavior. If it was my business I would have asked her to leave right away. The employees at Sal's demonstrated quite a bit of restraints, this woman was clearly agitated. When her order was finally ready she very rudely yanked the package out of the employee's hand and said something, which I didn't hear. That's when the young lady behind the counter said "You have got to be kidding me, get the "F" out of here and don't come back. Can I give a negative rating? Horrible, rude customer service! We ordered online, but the food wasn't ready; the guy said that "online orders weren't a priority". What? How do I respond to THAT explanation? My heart sank at this point--I was clearly in Uncle Sal's Twilight Zone! Then, the girl--whose small child was behind the counter--basically Ignored us because they were busy, confused, and clearly understaffed; we asked for a refund since they couldn't tell us when the food would be ready, and the girl said we'd have to call and get a refund from the company who runs the online ordering app! Meanwhile, her kid is running around behind the counter, the delivery person is squeezing past to stuff pies into a bag, people all standing like mannequins waiting ...total chaos. Never again! Someone needs to teach them about hospitality--I felt as if a bunch of sullen teenagers were trying to claw through their first day of work. read more

Uncle Sals II has the best pizza in Sparta! The menu has many food choices. I have eaten here many times and the pasta is really good a d so are the paninis. I love thar it's BYOB and that they have really good mozzarella sticks. Overall really good food. read more

I have lived in Sparta for over 20 years. In the beginning Uncle Sal's food was great. The food is still good, but that is not my issue. I love their pizza, sandwiches, etc. It is when they make a mistake that my problem begins. The owner/manager is arrogant and refuses to accept responsibility either for his own mistakes or mistakes his staff makes. Instead he gets angry if you send food back because it is burned or for any other reason. I even showed him a picture of a chicken sandwich where half of the sandwich had a 1" piece of chicken on it. His response was that I always complain and that there a lot of pizza places in Sparta, so if I have a problem I should go to those places. Really? Today I ordered a meatball Parm. The bread was burned. I handed it back to him and got the same attitude how I always complain. I said, it's my fault that you delivered a chicken sandwich with no chicken on half of it, and its my fault that you burned the bread on my meatball parm? Standing strong, this arrogant man stated that he appreciates my business but I can go somewhere else if I don't like it. Again, Really? My suggestion is for all of you that live in Sparta to patronize one of the many other Pizza places in Sparta that actually appreciates your business. Good food or not. Mistakes happen, but I refuse to spend my money anywhere where my business is far from appreciated. Shame on you Uncle Sal read more
