I must confess..... I have never eaten at Dino's. It just so happens that my neighbors are the owners. I have had the opportunity to try their pizza and other things and I must say it is delicious. Gus and Stella are great at what they do, and they are generous people. I am beyond grateful for the meals they provided after my dad passed unexpectedly (the neighborhood is still stunned) so my family and I could focus on arranging the funeral and mourning my dad's death in peace. read more

I have given this place a bunch of tries being new to the area. About half of the food is decent. The other half is inedible. Wings and boneless wings are good--outrageously expensive! Salads are very good. Fries are very good. Pizza has a very hard, crunchy crust. It's displeasing. Gyro served also in a crunchy pita with very little meat. Baklava dry and with no filling. Last night two of us ordered the prime rib special: 12 ounces, $27.99. Served with a salad and baked potato. We ordered medium rare. They came out well done, and I mean well-well done. The meat was grayish-brown, tough, and flavorless. I ate mine out of pure hunger and the fact that I was paying $27 for it. My partner left his. The owner came out when I complained to the waitress and said, "well, you know, sometimes this happens when you cook it. You try to see how much more you can go, and, oh well...But, we'll take a little bit off the bill." He took four dollars off each prime rib, making them $23.99 each. I still paid $77 for a meal that was trash. On the way out, he said to me, "next time, I guarantee if it doesn't come out exactly to your liking, it's entirely on me." There won't be a next time. Too little, too late. You have to have a better business standard than that. You can't charge $28 for a steak that is ordered medium rare, cook the Hell out of it, and then take no responsibility for it. Such a disappointment! read more

This place is a good place for a quick stop before the beach or anywhere else you need to be at. I came in for a slice of pizza and they were quick! The pizza was delicious and wasn't greasy. I would love to come again, this is already my second time coming to this place. I believe if the pizza is good then I believe the grinders and other food on the menu will be good as well. Coming from Central CT where there are at least a hundred pizza places in a 15 mile radius, this is the absolute best non-brick oven pizza I've had so far. We ordered a large Chicken & Broccoli red pizza. The parmesan in their shakers is real, grated parmesan. The shop buys a parmesan wheel and grate it themselves (I had to ask after noticing the small shavings). Their red pizza sauce is absolutely phenomenal on their pizza (and made in house!). The cheese, sauce, topping ratio was perfect. I love my pizzas saucy and this place nailed it. Not only that, but even with all the sauce and toppings, the pizza was not sloppy. The crust held up well. Such a shame this joint is 45 minutes away from our home, I wish we were closer. We will definitely be back to try their other specialties. A++ for treating their regulars very well too. Witnessed staff being extremely friendly. Highly recommend this hole-in-the-wall restaurant. I'm actually super surprised on some of these reviews, this place is the best! Best pizza, dinners, grinders they've got it all! I come all the way from Newington which is like at least a 30 min drive just for their food and I'm never disappointed. The staff is super friendly, always welcoming you as soon as your at the door! Stopped by with some friends for lunch. Never heard of the place, but we thought we'd give it a try. I ordered the patty melt platter, which came with fries and cole slaw. Every time I am in the area, I always stop at Dino's and get the same thing every time- BUFFALO CHICKEN SANDWICH. They get their fresh bread from a bakery which really makes a difference. Perfectly crispy and the buffalo sauce is mixed in with bleu cheese. Must try. They have pizza, grinders and entrees as well. They are a a family owned restaurant and have been opened for 20+ years. read more

For a small town joint they really got great pizza. It's greek style, not new york so it has a medium size crust, a lot of cheese and a decent amount of sauce. Every year we go here for my family bday party, and they are always accommodating and let us stay as long as we like. Their regular dinners are also excellent, always delicious. Dinners come with salad. Appetizers are great too. The inside has an arcade for kids- 3 or 4 video games to keep them occupied, so bring quarters. read more

Excellent food! Authentic Greek and Italian dishes and the servings are plentiful. The lasagna is my favorite--brought to feed two adults and comes with a small side salad and bread. Pizza is mediocre but the rest of the dishes are fantastic. Definitely recommend trying it out! read more

I wanted a Greek Style Pizza, so I went to Dinos. Worst decision. Their "extra large pizza" is the size of a large you get anywhere else. The sauce tasted like throw up, and the bacon was not real bacon but bacon bits. I ate 3 pieces and threw the rest away. For $18....it was a waste of money! Never again. read more

I've lived in Killingworth for over 6 years and driven by Dino's probably 200 times...maybe more. Kids' PTA's were tonight so we needed a local spot but with one catch; my youngest we found out a few months ago, needs to be on a gluten-free diet . Called them and they said they make gluten-free pizza. So on trip 201, we went. To date, we have tried the only local places that serve gluten free pizza including Grand Apizza in Clinton, Farina in Guilford, and Pacielo's in Branford--with Pacielo's probably thebest...until now. Let me backtrack by saying do not be intimidated by the exterior..they're in an older wooden 60's mini-strip mall right off 81 next to a liquor store, but inside its clean, large, comfortable, and the people; from the owner's to the servers to the cooks, were all like family..and we found out many were. And all were not only concerned about our orders being gluten-free, but after, they wanted to know how it was. Not overbearing or evasive; just great people wanting to make sure everything was just right. A lost art if you ask me. We started with potato skins; where the waitress wasn't 100% sure they were gluten free, and the chef [Dino's son?], came by and told us he could make them by baking them instead of frying to ensure no gluten...they were excellent..probably better not being fried and my girls loved them. Fresh mozzarella, real bacon..figured they'd be frozen..not even close--.everything was fresh. Next they wanted wings--again, she said they could bake them and put sauce on sides because spice issues along with the gluten..they devoured them. Finally, my kids have zero trouble taking one bite and if they don't like it, they are not shy about telling us. We figured they'd be kind of full with the apps, but after they saw their pizza's [the gluten free ones are smaller than regular ones, but bigger than any one's we've seen or bought so far], they chowed. My daughter with the gluten allergy had 4 pieces; 2 plain, 2 pepperoni, and my older daughter had sausage which she ate half as well. The sauce is the key for any pizza and they nailed it. My eldest daughter is the harshest critic i know and between the fresh mozz, fresh chunks of sausage and excellent sauce, it couldve been good if the gluten free crust was adequate...but they both loved it..crust and all. Wife and I shared eggplant grinder which is usually 90% miss with her, but it was cooked perfect with peppers and onions, and we ate half of it on taste alone...we were just full. Dino came out after and we thanked him for a truly great meal, and he told us pretty much everything; including pasta, can be made gluten free. This is relatively new to us, but so far, when we go thru the pre-meal gluten litany, its a lot of eye rolling and feeling like you're one big inconvenience to the restaurants we've tried. Not here. Honestly can't wait to go back, try other things, and see my kids eat fresh, good food that happens to be made to suit their diets/allergy. My only advice to Dino and his family... advertise the gluten free more. It's such a growing business and our staples like Circle and Portofino Pizza in Madison or Marco's in Branford...none of them serve a gluten-free pie and frankly, we'd go go just to Dino's without the kids because pizza was that good. Last time I gave them a phone order for a grinder they totally screwed it up and I paid them extra for extra meat. Didn't get the Xtra meat (but paid for it) or tomatoes either and as I was sharing the grinder with my friend while just finishing up complaining on the phone, he noticed the bread was all dried out too. Just another place where they've been in business too long and don't care about what they're doing anymore. Ruined my night. read more

Beautiful menu.....lots of tasty looking options! I was there with a party of 12 and the service was great! Salads were very crisp and fresh. I had the lamb gyro which was extremely disappointing. The lamb was slices of what looked like maybe lamb lunch meat ?? It also came with onions and tomatoes in a yogurt sauce.....this part tasted so over powering of onions that I couldn't eat it and pale pink tomatoes ....in August...tomato season around here! And this was one of their Greek specialties? The Greek salad that came with it was great, but I left hungry. The pasta dishes around me looked wonderful.....huge plates with what looked like nice sauces. My husband liked his steak and cheese sandwich very much. Food came out at all the right times ....no long waits. I would eat here again, but I wouldn't go out of my way to do so. read more

I just moved to the area everyone I talked to raved about Dino's the menu had a lot of options we decided on appetizers I got a cup of clam chowder it was very tasty it could have been hotter I think I'm not sure it was heated in the microwave because it had hot spots but mostly warm we got wings which was delicious not the best blue cheese I have ever tasted My date got the salad which looked awesome loaded with fresh veggies and cheese we also got the cheesey garlic bread which was awesome it would of been good if it came out with the soup and salad the waitresses were so nice and friendly as was all the staff !
