Frequented this joint when my daughter was still in middle school in the area. It was $5 something, then they increased it to $7 something. Fast forward to now, it's $11.75 plus $.25 bag fee plus 1.3% service charge. So, 1 sandwich is about $13. Now the question is, Is it worth the price? I cannot say it is. I understand the concept of inflation. Our grilled sandwich had very little meat and lots of veggies. A good Banh Mi has that perfect balance of savory meats, crunchy sour daikon, sweet shredded carrots, fresh cucumber and cilantro. I really really like banh mi sandwiches, and I've tried a bunch of different types everywhere else, but this place is actually really really good. Don't expect too much with the ambiance of this place since it's very small inside (only good for to-go). They do have a couple chairs outside the place, but it's located in Pacifica (usually windy and cold) so check the weather. $12.75 for a bánh mì?! Oh my lord. I swear they used to be $8.75 for the special a year ago and I blink and see that the prices have raised drastically. I know there are people that love Dinosaurs, but I did not have the best experience today. Honestly, the sandwiches here are good, but they don't stand out from the rest of the bánh mì places out there. The reason for such a low rating I'm giving is not only because of the price, but I also experienced terrible customer service from the cashier today. He was very rude and gave me an attitude. I had to wait almost 20 minutes for my sandwich even though there was only 1 order ahead of me. When I picked up my sandwich the cashier just glared at me and did not say a single word. It was a bit uncomfortable and I was left confused. I used to work in the food industry so I know it's not easy especially dealing with certain customers on the daily, but I at least don't expect Popeyes level service. I won't say the name, but the service from the cashier flat out sucked. The special was a solid bánh mì. It was good, but definitely not $12.75 good. They also were a bit way too generous with the mayo and I usually like mayo. I had bánh mì from another place last week and I felt like I just ate the same sandwich, but at a higher price. Hands down one of my favorite places to get banh mi! I appreciate that they have two options for vegetarians, and they're both fire (mushroom or crispy tofu). There's never really been a line when I've come here, so service is relatively quick and you're in and out within a few minutes. It's in a strip mall in Eureka Square, so there is plenty of free parking. There is no ambiance here - lol - it's really just a cash register and a kitchen, but you can't judge a book by its cover! I felt so sick to my stomach, I wanted to vomit yesterday's grotesque sandwich from this place. Somehow after reading about other people's experience, it's sus! Like super sus! I think he may have a disgruntled cook sabotaging his location. I was in such a good mood for a bahn mi and then bam hair inside my pate. Yesterday I thought I'll need a year or more to recover from it. Today, a day after I decided I will never return to this location. Who knows what else the cook is doing to their food. So even tho they're cranking, food was done in MAX 8-10 mins. Maybe less. Bread on banh mi is bomb. I mean, i worked with French bakers and patisseries for years and they can't make that. This is THE banh mi torta bread. NOT Dutch Crunch - kinda hate that stuff. Pfft. The perfect super crunch thin exterior. Soft tasty inside. Decent not a ton of tuna, good & spicy, lotsa julienne carrots, fresh cilantro, sliced jalapeño, oil vin whatever else. Tasty, warmed a tad, perfect. Drink was great. Pricing for a nice sized sando with the goods: $12.50. Absolutely fair. That Tea in a 12 oz cup w ice: $6 ?? Mmm, sorry. Kinda steep. The other place would make an equally good sandwich for the same ~12.50. But their Thai or Vietnamese coffee or tea is $4. Maybe 4.25. Next time I'll get my beverage at the market or elsewhere. Delicious sandwiches! Chicken and the tofu sandwiches are great. The mayo spread had an umami flavor to it that really made the meal addicting and paired well with the other ingredients, especially the bread. Service was simple. You order at the counter, and since it was my first time, the staff was super helpful and patient as I figured out what I wanted. Not much places to sit to enjoy the food, so it's best to pick up and enjoy elsewhere nearby. Parking is plentiful, but this place was hard to find. There's no sign so it's hard to locate. At first, I thought this spot was a liquor store or something like that. I used the yelp photos and reviews to figure out the specific unit. I had been wanting to try this place after hearing good things. I had the special sandwich (the first thing on the menu) with pork and it was fantastic. I'm picky and have certain things I can't eat so I asked for no mayo and not only did they get my order correct but I watched them make it and noticed the woman, who helped me, take extra care to clean the knife before cutting my sandwich in half so mayo would not get on there. Maybe a bit pricy at $12+ but everything's expensive these days, i stay down in Palo Alto now, and the spots around here, just don't hit. The grilled pork had the carrots/daikons jalapeños the grilled pork's my favorite go to. Along with the shrimp and pork spring rolls. Those r the best to me. They have apple slices thinly in them too for a bit more texture and sweetness. Awesome. I fk with this spot. *My friend and I are hiking in Pacifica and talking about ideas for lunch* Me, randomly: omg do you like Dinosaurs?!?! Friend: ... I explained it's my go-to banh mi place in SF. We checked out their Pacifica location and loved it. I know something feels a little off about when banh mi costs over $10, but Dinosaurs consistently has great quality. The baguette is simultaneously crisp and fluffy, and the veggies are always so fresh. I've tried the whole menu and I can vouch for all the protein options (except the roasted portobello which doesn't really have protein, and the spicy tuna has less of a wow factor since it's canned tuna). Otherwise, the pork, chicken, and beef are grilled perfectly, not too salty and with excellent flavor. I usually stick to The Special because I'm in love with their combo of slow roasted pork, fancy pork loaf, and pork pate. I've had banh mi at various places and sometimes the pork loaf seems a little artificial, but everything at Dinosaurs tastes like it's made in-house. Portions are generous--there's so much filling that my mouth isn't really big enough to bite down on the whole sandwich at once. The Pacifica location is just as good as the SF locations, with equally delicious food and friendly service. It's located in a small shopping plaza with a parking lot and a few tables/chairs outside in the patio. Prices have increased steadily over the years (currently $13.50 for The Special, $12.50 for other banh mi, $5.50 for Vietnamese iced coffee and Thai Tea). But then again it's just the reality of inflation and living in the Bay Area.... and having access to fancy banh mi is a pleasant perk of the Bay Area ^^ read more

It's well worth the patient wait for 10 minutes for your sandwich to be made. Simply perfection. We tried other things like the watermelon lychee smoothie and the spring rolls. The smoothie was out of this world with fresh watermelon and lychee. The spring rolls were freshly rolled so the rolls were perfect texture to order and the peanut sauce was smackin. I have been coming here for years and I love everything about it. The bread is still fresh, all the ingredients are fresh, and everything is super tasty. I love all the variety that is offered here for people who are vegetarian, vegan, or carnivore. I also like the different drink sections that they have that you can choose from. My personal favorite is the mango mint. Refreshing, sweet, but not too sweet. I know it is the way that they make their sandwiches, but I often end up choking on the cilantro stock. I can't get over how delicious these sandwiches are! Although they apparently have locations in SF, I had never heard of them until my friend suggested ordering lunch from this location in Pacifica today. I ordered the Shaking Beef banh mi and O.M.G. can we talk about the baguette? I am super picky about bread on sandwiches and many banh mi have baguettes that are hard and chewy. Not Dinosaurs! The baguette is clearly freshly toasted, fluffy and light enough to easily chew, but still with the perfect crunch you expect from a baguette. I couldn't get enough! The pickled veggies and the beef were also very fresh and flavorful and the blend of textures was an absolute delight. I also had the vietnamese iced coffee which was tasty and strong. The price does seem high for banh mi but taking into consideration where we are, it's not surprising. Highly recommend and can't wait to check out the SF locations! read more

Ok I guess it's time to write a review for this place Second visit here and and my opinion hasn't changed. I've ordered the special banh mi. It's not your typical cold cut banh mi. It's pretty loaded. So let's rewind a bit for 5 categories for my rating location 4/5 off the beaten path of the Pacifica area. But close to the hwy Pricing 3/5 quite pricy for a banh mi 10-12 dollar range seating. 4/5 limited and outdoors Choices 5/5 Restrooms 0/5 no public restrooms or hand washing Staff is friendly food is tasty but if this place had more to offer like a restroom that would definitely change my opinion. Only reason why I stopped here is because I was coming back from half moon bay for a fishing trip and wanted something quick and fairly fast not paying a premium for a 20 dollar sandwich chips and a soda roughly adding up tip to 30 dollars. Dinosaurs (both SF and Pacifica locations) always hits the spot, especially when it's a sunny day. That watermelon lychee is sooo good and that Vietnamese iced coffee is strong out here. My usual: A lemongrass chicken bánh mì with jalapeños and EXTRA pickled carrots and radish, fresh shrimp spring rolls to share, a Vietnamese iced coffee, and a few sips of someone else's watermelon slush with lychee toppings. They use real watermelon and you can totally tell it's the fresh, good stuff. The bread here has to be the reason why I'm in love with this banh mi. Idk where they get these French rolls but they are FRESH and SOFT and just delish. This time I tried to be a little bold with my order and tried the shrimp and tofu spring rolls. I didn't like them so much, and I'm sad about it! I usually get shrimp only or shrimp and pork and I don't know why that day was the day for experimenting! The tofu is thinly sliced and fried, almost makes me think of fried onions (which I love) on a burger...but very dry. Anyways, this was a user error...stick to your usuals, folks! This plaza in Pacifica is not usually busy, but it's best to call ahead to order because sometimes the line will be out the door. They also have an assortment of things to add to the bill: shrimp chips, kettle chips, coconut water, and (the kid favorite cream and cracker dip) YAN YANs!
