If you are looking for a good time while you eat, Dio Modern Mediterranean may be the spot for you. With outside/indoor seating (ideally outdoors which is sitting on the sidewalk), you know it's going to be a good time. They have live music, a DJ, and dancers the night I went to dinner. It was a vibe! Not sure you can sit long enough to eat. One minute I'm eating my filet mignon kebab with fries (which is on the pricier side for Mediterranean food, I believe it was over $30). The next minute I'm dancing in the crowd on the sidewalk. Would recommend for groups or if you have visitors in Tampa Bay.

The food was great! We ordered the calamari and the gyro, everything was so flavorful. The waitress was nice and very attentive. We sat outside since it was a beautiful day. We were the only customers at the time. They were setting up for the evening events. Apparently they have belly dancers and bongos on Friday nights. We would've gone back but we already had plans for the evening. This was a nice little spot for a quick late lunch. The only downsides: how dirty and torn the menus were (disgusting... dried food everywhere) And the amount of destitute (dr*gs) people are constantly walking by you if you sit outside. There's a lot of them in that area A LOT. And they cause scenes on the sidewalk right where you're sitting. Just keep that in mind and sit inside.

I had an great time here. They had live music, dancers and hookah which really made the experience. Service was great. For the food, I had the ceviche to start and the lamb chops which were both delicious. I will say it is on the pricier side, but I would definitely recommend.

Went here with some coworkers. We were there around 6pm on a Wednesday. We were one of probably 5 tables seated. The service was great. Our waiter was knowledgeable, friendly and attentive. We got the mixed plate for an appetizer and it was a good amount of food for the price. One in our party ordered Calamari and didn't like her dish at all. she ate less than a quarter of it. I ordered the filet mignon kebab to share. It was $40(ish) and was only two small kebabs. Not enough to share and be satisfied. We each ordered a drink and each drink was not bad but not great for different reasons. The place was cute and staff friendly but I wouldn't say it would be somewhere worth going back.

This was my 2nd time visiting Dio and it was just ok. The location and the vibes are great but the menu is super limited with only about 6 entrees to choose from & the night I went they were out of at least 2 of the dishes my table ordered. So we all settled on the chicken kabobs. They all came out with a grand presentation which was kind of funny considering our table was full of these chickens just dangling on a stick. I see the vision but they missed the mark as far as taste. We could see all the other tables ordering some kind of kabobs bc that's basically all they had on the menu. It was crazy to see how many of these kabob set ups they had knowing there wasn't enough food to serve the entire menu. Our under seasoned hanging chickens costed us a whopping $29 each which is a pretty steep price considering it didn't taste great at all. What we didnt finish we boxed up and gave to a unhoused person nearby. I guess this place is worth the experience being that it's a downtown Tampa hotspot, the drinks are great, they have hookah and live music. But keep your expectations low when it comes to the food.

I love Mediterranean food so I was surprised to have a hard time finding something on the menu to order. It wasn't extensive and it was expensive. Even just a glass of wine was over prices- same brand here compared to same brand elsewhere. There were no seats/tables inside- not sure why but the place was empty. Tons of empty tables outside. It was hot and since it's downtown there's not a lot of shade. I will say the food I ordered was good but in order not to break the bank I got lamb meatballs- an appetizer and a side salad. My total with one glass of wine with my husbands dish was still crazy. Our waitress however was amazing- I wish I could remember her name. She was amazing!

We were staying at a nearby hotel for St. Patrick's Day weekend and decided to give this place a try on Saturday around 5. It was extremely busy both inside and outside because the parade had recently ended. We were lucky enough to get a table inside the restaurant. Service was quick from our waiter, despite the big crowd. The menu has about ten appetizers, several spreads, salads, and about ten entrees. We started with the dip combo, which was four different spreads with pita bread. We also ordered the vegetable platter to use with the spreads. They all tasted great. For our entree we split a filet mignon kabob, with asparagus and a Greek salad. The filet mignon was one of the best we have had. The asparagus was also outstanding because it was seasoned with garlic bits. We would definitely eat here again.

A wonderful first time here for our friends' birthdays. The staff were super friendly and welcoming. Food was good! Love the ceviche!! I would only suggest AC in the indoor dining because it was pretty hot (I was sweating). Entertainment was fun and we loved the Austin Hope Cabernet ..

My mom and I had afternoon drinks and apps at Dio while visiting tampa for a show at the Tampa Theater. We came across Dio and enjoyed our time dining here. I love Mediterranean food so of course I enjoyed our meal. We ordered sangria and the hummus and grape leaves and I thought both dishes and the drinks were delicious. Having lived in Spain, I can't say no to a sangria and Dio is the perfect place to find that! The food tasted fresh and authentic and it was a nice place for a light snack. I like how they gave us lots of pita bread for the dip also ;). The service and ambiance was enjoyable. Our waiter was very friendly and responsive. The food came out quickly and I felt the menu offered a wide variety of Mediterranean options. Dio has outdoor seating although it isn't the nicest patio. I preferred to sit inside where they have a bright and welcoming ambiance. There is a bar as well as table seating for both large and small parties. It is also a plus that it was walking distance from the Tampa Theater! We had a lovely afternoon at Dio and I would recommend it to anyone looking to have a nice Greek inspired meal, or drinks with friends. :))

The only miss for me was the raw white part of the green onions in the salad, they were a bit too chunky for my taste. The chicken, though? Perfectly grilled...crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside. It came with a tzatziki sauce that was more on the liquidy side, which isn't my favorite texture, so I just used it as a dip for the chicken and hummus. Heads-up: the menu on their official site isn't updated, but if you Google "Tasty Mediterranean," it shows accurate prices and lets you order online. It came out to $17.99 plus tax , which is a little pricey for lunch, but the portions were solid and the staff were super friendly so no complaints there!

Plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. In the spirit of expanding our culinary pallet, we ordered two apps that were new to us. The Kebbeh was very good - i'd say similar to a meat hush puppy? Krispy on the outside and flavorful on the inside. The Baba Ganju was different than what I was expecting and not something I personally liked (not any fault to the dish, I'm just a texture person). The chicken shawarma and gyro platter (it's a platter at dinner) were FANTASTIC! Seriously, so much flavor, fresh, the meat was not overly cooked. Everything tasted very fresh and we seriously had no complaints!! We also ordered a side of Batata, which are sort of crispy potato cubes with chili flakes + garlic - so good! I will say when we got there, there was a mishap and we waited over 20 minutes to be greeted and introduced to our server after we sat down. Once our server realized we were in her section, the rest of our service was amazing! I think that was just a one off fluke, and I would not let it negatively impact my experience.

My brother got the chicken kebab and also thought the chicken was bland. My girlfriend got the gyro (also served deconstructed) and we both thought it was the best dish but also nothing special. We waited about 15 minutes just to get our check, and other tables around us waited close to 30 minutes to check out, not including the actual payment process. The menu isn't very typical, but the offerings themselves were interesting. We ordered the chicken, which was genuinely amazing and definitely the highlight of the meal. We also got the hummus. The hummus itself was good, but the portion was extremely large, and the pita bread that came with it was very thin and tasted a little stale. The French fries were really good. One thing they could improve on is the food presentation. Our plate had all the chicken piled on the bottom, fries on top, and the pita bread laid over everything, which felt a bit odd visually. The restaurant has a lot of potential, but the menu could benefit from being expanded a bit. There's also a mixed meat option on the menu priced at $200, which feels very high for the area. That said, the outside patio is really cute. If you do decide to come and try this place, I'd definitely recommend sitting outside. Overall, good food with room for improvement in service, presentation, and menu variety.
