First experience was great! The environment is friendly and chill the music makes you feel relaxed like your at the beach. They have a couple TVs to watch the game (extra points they show the dodger games). They make some great beer and this is coming from someone who doesn't really drink beer. The beer slushee was surprisingly really good too. The prices are also very fair! The place is the on the smaller side(5-6 tables and Bartop) and it is somewhat hidden plus only one restroom, but it's still a great place to relax and have some amazing local beers! Best beer slushy ever!!!! I got the mango beer slushy with the liquid tajin, and boy I regret that I didn't take home more... but I went back a few days after, so problem solved. The mango flavor tastes really fresh, not artificial, and the idea of liquid Tajin just took this drink to the next level. Although, clearly this is not the only type of drink they offer, their selection is pretty broad and they have so much variety, you would have to tell yourself to stop from buying each type and flavor they've got. They have crowlers which are big and I believe is really worth the price, and makes it very convenient for out-of-towners like me to take home my favorites. read more

Last night I had the opportunity to try this place out. It's definitely hidden and if it weren't for the taco truck parked outside I would have never seen it. As a new business I expected it to be packed full of Bakersfield's beer lovers and I was definitely right. It's small, the large barrels they use as tables definitely take up majority of their room so I think that could be different, or a bigger facility. It felt like a walk in closet. The beer was amazing though! You can try any kind of beer for $2.50 which is a complete steal! They don't serve food so the taco truck outside is a great idea. The staff was super nice and answered all questions about what beer they preferred. They use an iPad for credit cards which I thought was neat and it had options on how much to tip. I'll be back! I came to this place because I wanted to try something new and let me just say I approve! This little brewery only had beverages and apparel and just the right amount of people. The games they provided were full of fun and laughter. And the beer served was amazing and unique. The staff was friendly and sparked a conversation with us while checking out. Although they did not have the type of long sleeve I was looking for. They did have multiple option for apparel and even free stickers. I would suggest going through the garage doors instead of the front doors. Also beware of weird but bearable smell and the face that you can smell cigarette smoke from whomever chooses to smoking outside. I am definitely coming back soon!!! read more

This place is awesome!! The vibe is really mellow and friendly, the beers were really delicious, and the food made by Milan's Kitchen was so good! The Gose and the IPAs that I tried were really tasty and for anyone who is not into those they had a Honey Blonde that was light and delicious. Overall I was stoked on this place all around. Dionysus is a nice, small hidden gem. Staff is very friendly and professional. Place is awesome, a little small and they don't serve any food. However seems like there is normally a catering truck there. Different catering trucks serving different food, when I stopped by there was a guy baking pizza in one of those Dutch looking stone ovens. I will definitely be back soon. IPA beer was delicious. Only complaint is that I drive up and down the street looking for this place and couldn't find it because it does NOT have any sign out in the road, so just look for a crowd of cars. read more

I've been a believer in these guys since LONG before Day 0 (and Day 1 for that matter!) The beer selection definitely goes across the beer spectrum from a dank IPA to a Cream Ale (think cream soda but in beer form), to a coffee porter and imperial stout. Then there's also the main event... The sours! I was lucky enough to try pilot batches of some of the original sours that Kyle made (strawberry, raspberry, golden sour with peaches, cinnamon, and vanilla to name a few). And now they have been able to beautifully translate those on their much bigger brew system. The Super Funkadelic (gose) is certainly one of their flagship brews and always hits the spot with a balance of sourness and saltiness with a hint of citrus note that makes you salivate and want more to quench your thirst! The other fruited sours that have made appearances include the Strawberry Berlinersfield (strawberry Berliner Weisse) and Currantly Noir (golden sour with black currants). Both beers have been wonderfully done with gorgeous pink and dark purple hues, intense fruit, and of course that delicious sour taste that keeps bringing me back for more and more. I'm here at least a couple to a few times a week and have always seen one of the owners/brewers there either working or socializing with the crowd and that is awesome to see as a loyal patron. If you see Kyle P, Kyle I, or Kenney, they're always more than willing to shoot the breeze about the current and upcoming beers. Their passion is what makes me continue to support my favorite local brewery. During the week there is no food truck but the brewery is definitely a "bring your own food" friendly place. Fridays there is a taco truck and Saturdays a brick oven pizza stand. I can't rate and recommend them highly enough. There's beer for everyone's palate. Who knows... Even if you don't like or don't know sour beers, this could be the place to help change your mind about them. read more

Recently on a quick day trip out to the Bakersfield area it was decided to check out a local brewery. After taking the time to look up all the choices in the area, reviewing yelp photos and reviews I decided this one had the best varieties of beers. I'm not into IPA's or just Ale's so the other breweries seemed more limited as far as selection goes. SO GLAD we stopped by! Everything I tried which included two flights along with full pints was delish! They do not have food onsite BUT they will have a food vendor. You can also bring in your own food. Awesome beers, especially their sour beers! "Peach on Through" is a must try. Also the "Rose Sauvage" is really good too. Unfortunately I did not try their porter, so I don't know how it is. If this is your first time trying their beer, they offer 5 oz small pours, so you can try everything on the menu! You can bring your own food here while enjoying their beer, since there isn't food available most of the time. But then again, this is a tasting room/brewery, not a restaurant or bar. Friendly staffs is definitely a plus too. Good job well done in deed. read more

This is my favorite brewer in Bakersfield and one of top 3 favorites, next to Modern Times and Ballast Point. Don't have a kitchen, but they do have food trucks most of the time and they are completely ok with bringing food in. There are usually several dogs there, too. So they are just a bar normally but on thursdays and Saturday nights they have a guy come who makes stone baked pizzas. He makes killer pesto pizza and killer wings as well. As a bar they are daily nice. It is cold inside so will need a jacket at winter as they are in a warehouse with no heat. Their seats are comfortable but high chairs so if your short you may have troubles. As for the beers they are a sour specialist. Their strawberry one is the best in my opinion. OH HELL YEAH!!!!!!! Let me start this review by saying that I am more than a little bit of a beer snob. I am lucky enough to live in Sacramento, which just so happens to have a really killer beer scene with some of the best breweries in the country (ie Moonraker, Knee Deep). I am also very, very particular with the types of beer I crave. Dionysus hit me perfectly with every type. I am the girl that wants a huge hop flavor, without too many IBUs or too high of an ABV. Enter the New England style IPA. Dionysus provided perfectly. Their NE was a beautiful and perfectly hazy juice bomb. Made my heart smile. After finishing my pint of their NE IPA, I went for their DIPA (Double Dank if I remember right, we were already quite buzzed). It too was delicilous. A well balanced, not too bitter ( I am over the palate wrecker bitterness of some IPAS) hop to the face. Being we had a Moonraker growler and cans back at my brothers house full of NE IPAs, so I landed on the Double Dank as a take home in my new little Dionysus growler. They only had 32oz growlers available. Wish they would have had some 64's. Guess next time I visit Bako, I will bring my hydro flask along with me. Bottom line: I hate to say this because there is another brewery in Bako that I love and has been around a very long time, but Dionysus is my new favorite Bako brewery. I will stop in every time I visit the fam bam in Bako. Do yourself a favor and stop in. Cheers! read more

The beer is excellent. The service is fast. This is one of my favorite breweries in the country. To give you some perspective. I started off my beer career with milk stouts. Left hand milk stouts are my favorite beer. And I ate warheads as a kid. The beer here satisfies all of my cravings and more. They're currently following the national trend towards New England style IPAs. Very juicy ( not juice bomb esque like Great Notion in Portland). Sour beers are complex and barrel aged in the stalls next door. Their stock beers are decent. Service is friendly and fast, although you can expect a line most of the time. In the summer they run large industrial fans, which cool down the place. If your visiting, you're always likely to see or meet one of the owners, who seem to be pouring or drinking beer at all hours of the day. This seems like a good group of friends who found their calling - brewing excellent, well regarded beer. As far as I can tell, they don't do 64 oz growler fills. They're too small of an operation. But they do fill 32 oz cans for a semi reasonable price. Only downside to the most recent visit was the smell. Dionysus is hands down the best thing to happen to the local beer scene in awhile. This place isn't flashy, doesn't serve food (though they do bring in food trucks), and doesn't have a big space. What they do have; however, is a pretty exceptional line up of beers. We visited for the first time a couple weeks after their opening date. Having previously tried a select few of the Dionysus line up during a feature event at a nearby business and being impressed, we were excited to try more of their offerings. The beers offered cover a broad style of beer, with the emphasis on sours. During our visit, we tried the Strawberry Berlinersfield (strawberry sour), Cream Haze (cream ale), Stout, Funkadelic (a sour IPA), and a Saison. We liked them all, and found that each beer was memorable without putting too much emphasis on a novelty factor (think super hopped IPAs, over the top flavored beers, etc). The line up may be intense for drinkers who are more accustomed to mainstream beer styles, but the demonstrated skill by the Dionysus team in their brewing knowledge means their beers are a great way to expose and broaden the horizons of those less familiar with some of these beer styles. Dionysus is a little guy - the shop is located in a business park. Topped barrels provide the table surfaces, with very little seating, while barrels of beer line the room. Everything about this place makes the beer the focus. If you're hungry, they often have food vendors just outside for separate food purchases. One our visit we were able to pick up some tasty barbacoa fries to go with our beers. The staff at this location was very friendly and eager to talk about their beers. When you visit, there's a good chance the person pouring is one of the Dionysus founders/brewers, so ask questions! Don't miss an opportunity to try this new brewery as Bakersfield's craft scene continues to grow. read more

This is a no frills, small batch brewery in an industrial complex in the SW area. The setup reminds me of Heretic, a local brewery in my hometown. This place is all about the beer and stepping out of a bland comfort zone that other breweries have fallen into. I didn't get a full pint of anything on my first visit; I wanted to sample everything. They don't offer a sample flight, but they offer 5 oz pours if you want to design your own flight. Here's an excerpt of my tasting notes: Insert Area Code Here - taking a jab at Temblor, eh? This is a very smooth beer and one of the safer beers on their menu. I'd order this again if I was feeling dull. Currentsfield - Very spicy, floral, rich, and SOUR. And it's a pretty color. I was craving something salty after this to balance the flavor. Peaches N Cream - Smooth and sweet. Not much character to it, but it went down smoothly. Saisonic - did I pronounce it right? Probably not. The coloring was pretty dark for a saison, but the taste was light and airy. This one was also spicy and cleared my nostrils. I really like what the owners did with this place. Instead of making random beers for the masses or touting a flagship beer, they're experimenting with everything. They don't have that one beer that they're known for, but they definitely lean heavy into their sours. I can see them developing their brand around that. Plenty of parking, and a very casual vibe. It's easy to drive by and miss the turn in though. You have to look for the sign. They have an awesome range of beers, especially if you're into sours. If you're lucky, they'll also occasionally set out a bowl of gardetto's. It's a great place to meet up with friends, watch tv, play uno, kill time, etc. Bakersfield beer company located next door is pretty neat too. They'll have various food trucks on site most days as well. He insisted we stop by to sample the new coffee porter that came out today and we liked it even better. We took the opportunity to sample several other brews and even a cider while we were there. They had a very hoppy IPA we both liked as well as a cream ale that I particularly liked. I confess I did not care for their sours or the cider although many people do. They are showing a lot of promise and I am sure that over time they will become even better. This is a very laid back place that encourages conversation. Don't expect the sophistication or food of Lengthwise and the others, at least not yet. Give them time. read more
