I just want to start off by saying that for a restaurant that advertises itself on being high end. It was insane the amount of time it took for the host to seat us, and on top of that there was no parking what's so ever! Everyone was doing laps around the parking lot to find parking. Unbelievable. Then we get inside and it takes a server 10min to come the table and offer us water. It was just to of us I find that a little absurd. I'm not one to complain about price, but if what you guys are looking for is to provide high-end dinning you should really go visit places like Dal Rae, and Maestros they may not have the esthetics but the food and the service is superb compared to here. We were so excited to visit Diosa and the perfect opportunity was my cousins graduation. Diosa food and service did not disappoint. Our server had great recommendations and the restaurant was not your typical Downey restaurant. All was good until we witnessed the owner speaking to an employee. We had to talk my cousin out from confronting her. Let me just say that the way she spoke to him was very, very unprofessional. I wouldn't even talk like this to a child. We will not be coming back. I am not someone to write reviews but this made us so upset. My group and I refuse to support a business who lacks professionalism and plain respect to its employees. This was our first time visiting Diosa, and we had an amazing time. The decor was chic and modern, and we were welcomed and seated almost immediately after arriving. The staff was extremely responsive to us, and knowledgeable about the menu. Our waiter was Roger, and he was fantastic! His personality was very engaging, and he even took the time to talk sports with my husband, which my husband loved! Every food item that we ordered was delicious, and the drinks were great as well. The place is really nice and fancy. I was disappointed at the service. There were so many employees on the floor and yet no one came to our table to offer any service after sitting there for 25 minutes. A couple sitting next to us had sat down 10 to 15 minutes prior to us and no one had offered them any service. Another couple sitting adjacent to us had drinks on their table but we're upset because no one had come to take their food order. We got up and left and so did the first couple waiting for service. Subpar service for the restaurant rating on yelp. I was a walk in and the front desk person who I thought was the hostess told me she will be looking if they had empty tables. I was not offered a seat or to wait or even an invitation to the barn. When i was sat down, my waiter came to get my order, he did not introduced himself. My gf wanted regular coffee and there was no coffee , and he did not offer anything else. I asked about tea and for a sangria. He brought the tea and no sugar or a spoon. My sangria was something I did not recognized as an sangria. I order the octopus and a dessert for my gf. I was not given the right utensil to eat my octopus. The waiter was in a hurry with us. I felt uncomfortable and unwelcome. I could have spend more on specialty drinks but the demeanor of my waiter discouraged me. I still tipped him close to 20% but it was a negative experience. My gf and I felt unwelcome and there was no recommendation for first time goers. read more

Came here for a birthday dinner. It is nice inside and I wasn't going to write a review or anything but a lot of things were just annoying with this place. First, we had to pay $10 for valet parking... in Downey. This isn't dtla where parking is scarce. It's a whole parking lot and you have to get valet. Second, the food was mediocre at best. $20 for a chunky unseasoned guacamole with cheap stale chips that you can buy at the 99. The enchilada poblanos were lacking in flavor too. Definitely not worth $37. The waiter was terribly slow, didn't fill our water, and to even check out we had to wait like 30 mins to get our check. Then they charge a 3% surcharge to the check to support the staff. Just add it to the prices instead of tacking on a 3% service charge to the check at the end. Such an easy skip and I think a lot of the people who go here go for the aesthetics and not really so much the food which you can get better almost anywhere else for cheaper. read more

This place was a totaled letdown. at first glance, the place looks great. There's a need for improvement in services and better time management in the kitchen. The drinks were ok and the food would have been good had they followed my request. They don't take accountability nor do they make any attempts to rectify their mistake, instead they lie to your face and make up an excuse. The music is too loud to converse with your company and you can't hear what the servers are saying unless your seating right beside them and you're shouting the whole time there to get your order in. During the 2 hours that we were there we were constantly asked if we had ordered the food and drinks in their hands, they had no clue which table the food and drinks belong to. Now let's get down to the poor time management in the kitchen .. for the price that they are charging for food plus the 13% surcharge, food should be coming out at the same time or at least a couple of minutes apart not 10- 20 minutes for each person. No one wants to seat and stare at the other person eating while they wait for their meal. I definitely will not recommend this place nor will I ever go back again. read more

I had higher hopes for this restaurant and was very disappointed. This is not the place to visit if you are looking to find reasonably priced food and drinks. To start off, valet is not optional and you are forced to pay for parking. Next, we were not seated right away because we did not have a reservation despite the fact that there were open tables; it was a Wednesday night and the restaurant was not packed or busy, by any means. While the food tasted, which is the only positive thing that I have to say about this place, the portions are claimed to be "shareable" - which they definitely are not. Additionally, the plates are incredibly expensive on top of being small portions. The drinks were the most disappointing part of the evening! I ordered a fight of margaritas, which I was excited for because I like tequila, but I did not taste any alcohol in the drinks whatsoever! Mind you, there are tequila bottles placed all around the space as decoration, but they failed to include any in the drinks! When I brought this concern up to the waiter I was dismissed and told that the drinks are meant to be "sipped." Well, how else am I supposed to drink a margarita? Aside from being dismissive, I was advised to order a drink from the "Gentleman's Section." The fact that there was a separate section for drinks made specifically for men seems sexist - are women not able to handle stronger drinks? It rubbed me the wrong way but I ordered a drink from that section anyways to see if there was any difference - there wasn't. Later on, the manager stopped by to check in on our table because we were dissatisfied with our drinks. I told them my concerns and was dismissed with the same, seemingly scripted, response of the drinks needing to be sipped which was very frustrating. Thankfully they took those drinks off our our tab, but the entire situation was very disappointing. The bill was still astronomical even with those items removed so I cannot imagine what it would've been if they had been included. All in all, not the best experience at this restaurant. read more

The Ambiance is the only reason for the two stars. I liked that the music isn't overpowering and can still have a conversation. Food was inedible. We ordered the rib eye steak that was too salty and had a burnt crust on top. No steak knife was given on delivery of the food. Had to ask for one. Should be given automatically on the plate. The steak empanadas were ok, the sauce inside over powered the steak and mushroom flavor. The corn was ok, lacked any real flavor. Puesto in HB had better corn. The Steak Arrechera was burnt and I only ate one piece. I had no plate with my steak, I stupidly gave it up when done with the appetizers. The steak was delivered on a black iron skillet placed on a riser and two ramekins of the rice and beans, napkin wrapped tortillas. The best part of the meal was the store bought guerrero tortillas. Rice was bland, I will not comment on the black beans as I personally do not like black beans. Service was good, our server was on top of things. She kept checking up on us. I probably will not be returning not even if a close friend were to celebrate their birthday here. read more

I admit that I was impressed by the whole look of the restaurant but then my party was showed to out table witch was a fast to get us too our table but then it was all down hill from there, they asked if we would like a light on our table cause it was a little dark but not too dark around the dinning area ( not bad thing ) but then waiter came over and introduced himself witch he was very friendly but after taking our drink order it was about half hour till our drinks were brought too us and then when we placed our food orders it was almost a hour till we received our food and let me say the food is over priced for the quality of food that is being served in my opinion! I would not recommend this location only if you want to try to impress someone and like to spend your hard earn $$ on mediocre food! read more

One star for the ambiance it was beautiful inside. The second you walk in you expect to be greeted but I wasn't. The hostess didn't even smile or greet me. Well we get sat and same thing we were not greeted. The server took about 15 min to come to our table. I was annoyed at this point. Our server finally gets here and very nice he explains about restaurants he recommends us some drinks so we go with his recommendation. If I can give a zero star to how long we waited I would and keep in mind it was not busy at all. I work in the restaurant industry so I know from my point of view, You can see the bartenders just talking. You can see servers not being attentive and going missing. Our drinks finally arrived and I asked the girl who brought them out if she knew the type of alcohol because I forgot what our server said about the drinks, her answer was I don't know it's on the menu. If you're working at a restaurant you should know what comes in every drink and food item. Knowledge people !! but I guess they don't have it here. I can go on but it doesn't get any prettier. At first Diosa hostess was very nice. She had long blonde hair and I had a cake for my sister. They told me they could put candles and sparklers to the cake I was thinking great. But as the evening went on. Our waiter Javier was great. Getting our drinks and food order. But if you go here to eat be ware your whole party will get their food 20-30 minutes apart. While we ate two people waited 25 min for their food. It sucked. Then someone brings over a sorry ass ice cream bowl..umm I was mad where was my cake with the candles and sparklers. I talked to the waiter in private. He didn't about the cake. The hostess didn't communicate the info. She was to busy looking at herself in the mirror I guess. They finally brought my cake with Itty bitty ugly candles. No knife no plates. I had to ask for them. Our waiter apologized but he didn't know about the cake. We will definitely not be going back. I will tell all my friends family about our experience here. Nice looking restaurant. Hostess and communication skills need to be retrained! It sucks because it was my sister's bday. I visited Diosa for Father's day. Here are the glows and the grows. Glows-- The dry ice in the drinks is cool. Grow-- there's more ice in each drink than there is cocktail. Glow-- the food actually was pretty impressive. The flavor profile was there for all of the stakes. The octopus dish had a nice grilled char and a really good seasoning. The veggies that came with it were on point. Glow-- the chiken pastor, beans, and rice were very flavorful. Grow-- the waiter looked like he was dazed and confused like he didn't want to be there he looked distressed. I think they need to really support their staff so they don't feel overwhelmed. It wasn't even a really busy day. But he was really out here struggling. He did redeem himself a little by taking our picture, that was nice of him. Grow-- desserts are small for the price. I went this last weekend with some girlfriends to celebrate a friends birthday and we were excited for the vibes and beauty of this place. Once we sat down and looked at the menu everything was completely overpriced. Still keeping an open mind and hoping the flavor and value matches the price point we started off with drinks. They were beautiful and photo worthy but none of our drinks were made well. After looking at the overpriced menu I went for the $35 chicken enchiladas. My plate came out 25 minutes before the rest of my group and the sides were completely cold.
