I'm so sad to have to write this review. I was so looking forward to going to Diosa and bringing my mother here for Mother's Day. I made a reservation for a large party weeks ago. When we arrived 10 minutes early the place was packed, so I was glad we were checked in and ready to be seated at our reservation time. Fifteen minutes after our reservation time, we noticed countless parties were being seated ahead of us. When I went to make sure they hadn't missed us they said it would be at least another 15 minutes before we could be seated. I was frustrated because I had made a reservation to avoid this type of wait. After prodding them a second time, they said that we were difficult to seat quickly because we were a large party. That makes no sense. If you have a reservation, your place should be reserved. There's no point in reserving if we're being admitted in the same way you'd admit a walk-in. To make matters worse, the hostess was extremely rude to us after we expressed our frustration. When she finally did seat us, she didn't say a single word to us. Put down our menus and just walked away. Oof. I was pissed. No apologies, no offer for a free appetizer, no nothing. Some of the worst hostess service I've ever experienced. Listen, I'll put up with that behavior at a cheap place, but this restaurant is charging elevated, almost fine dining prices, your front of house has to meet that standard. This woman DID NOT. We were also seated in a part of the restaurant that was dark and didn't have as nice of an ambiance as the rest of the restaurant. Disappointing. Luckily, we were greeted by a lovely waitress and support wait staff. One of these stars belongs to her. She was kind, apologetic, and understanding. I wish that was it, but sadly, we proceeded to wait another hour and a half for our entrees. We didn't eat until two hours AFTER our initial reservation. It was insane. The kitchen was horribly backed up and it was clear to me at this point that these reservations were poorly managed and overbooked. A horrible thing to do when folks are coming in to celebrate a special occasion because you end up ruining that occasion with a poor experience. We're paying good money to have a great experience, and by the end you're forced to pay a lot of money for a mediocre experience. Huge hospitality fail. The food, thankfully, was good. Thank goodness. The drinks were as well. Again, thank goodness. The chefs get that second star I've put in here. Unfortunately, there was no offer to comp anything, no offer for free dessert. Nothing to make up for everything. I don't blame the wait staff for this because they probably aren't approved to do this for some reason. My husband had to ask them to comp something and they comp'd two drinks for "Mother's Day" - I guess not the inconvenience? - according to management. Smh They've sadly lost recurring customers who would have returned again and again if we'd had a better overall experience. This is a restaurant so we go to eat really good food. I don't think the appearance of a place should matter just as long they pass the inspections and it's clean inside out. I should've had street tacos instead of going here. The food did not match the aesthetics of this place. As an appetizer I ordered lobster and scallop ceviche. It had so much lime. There was no flavor to it. I also had the cast iron carnitas. What a big disappointment. About 1/3 of the plate was cover with dry carnitas. You can tell the waiters and servers had no experience. It was either that or they didn't care about the job which is worse. Seven of us went. I sat pretty much in the middle and when it came to giving me my heavy plate why did the waiter stand on one end of the table and slowly try to place the plate down in front of me. I saw him struggling so I carried it and place it down. Why didn't he say, "I'm standing right behind you and will be placing the plate in front of you." A couple of my friends asked the server questions about the menu items and he/her usually stated, "They serve it with....", "They have the..." it says a lot about a company when employees don't feel valued or appreciated because they didn't include themselves in those statements. read more

Finally a restaurant comparable to 555 East, Tantalum, Catch LA, or Maestros minus the long drive. Drinks were pricey but well made. I had the vintage old fashioned and the other smoked drink with tequila & mezcal. Appetizers - we tried the steak empanada which was terrible, if you want that go to Gaucho Grille. Entrees -Wife had salmon and I had the octopus, both were perfectly cooked and good portions. Octopus was spicy but very good. Worth the price and comparable to any other trendy place in LA. Ordered a side of poblano mash potatoes which was spicy as hell. *they should annotate spicy food on the menu Service - was superb from 7:15pm to 9pm. Past 9pm it got hella packed and our waitress was MIA. Took 30 min to get a drink where before 9pm it was 5-10 min. Check took forever. Come before 9 if you want service comparable to the price tag. Ambiance was good but I guess because of the holidays they packed up the place, seemed like they added extra tables in the middle, I had at least 4 people bump in to my chair because of how snug it was to get around. The place is beautiful but the overall service... First off we had a reservation at 6:45 which the host could not find and told us if we wanted to wait it would be an hour wait for a party of 4. My friend was running late and was able to make another online reservation for our party mind you at 6:40 that same day for 7pm, 15 minutes after our original reservation yet we were told to wait an hour but were promptly seated at 7. Service was not that great, our server kept disappearing our first round of drinks came out quickly but second round I think she forgot took almost 20 minutes just to come out one at a time. Had reservations for 8:45 didn't get to our table until 9: 15ish , i asked the girl upfront and kept saying they were just cleaning the table (mind you the restaurant wasn't not packed at all). Got seated and waited another 25 minutes for appetizers ONLY. They most likely charge you for the presentation and aesthetic of the food because to be sincerely honest it was not good. Don't even get me started with the valet parking situation. Parked on the side and as I was walking in the valet driver says I can't park on the last row away from the restaurant because that's the other businesses parking there was not sign stating that. So I told the guys fine I'll do valet my car is the black one parked over there. I realized it was time to pay I had left my wallet in my car so I asked the valet man if I could have my keys to get my wallet and HE DID NOT GIVE ME MY KEYS, he told me he could open the car from a distance. We started with the guacamole it was spicy with a hunk of tangy and greasy made chips. My boyfriend got the pollo mole, it had a really good flavor came with rice and black beans. I ordered the steak arrachera, basically fajitaa it came with rice and beans but I substituted for the nopal cold slaw that didn't not disappoint. All the food was great, but the mole was delicious. Went for my birthday - complementary vanilla ice cream was good topped with chocolate drizzle and cinnamon gave an after flavor taste. Champagne shot was a cute touch. Came to celebrate my mother's bday and reserved for a party of 10 . Our server was good and we did like him but he just couldn't deliver the best service . And that was because We noticed that we were the biggest party and the restaurant did have about 6other smaller tables and another party but yet we only seen that one server for everyone. It was so frustrating to ask for anything because it would just take to long to find him . We arrived at 3:30 it took about 25min just to get drinks and then about 45 more minutes to get the food.... The food was also just not the best tasting . The mar and Tierra fish was too fishy and overcooked and the mashed potatoes croquette was so odd , not appeasing at all . The ribeye was way too chewy , I could barely cut it and did not pair well with the spicy mashed potatoes . The fajitas meat were overly seasoned , way too charred and salty .The drinks, those were ok. At the moment to ask for the check ,our waiter was no where to be seen so we waved to get someone's attention and all the girls in pink who work there deliberately turned around to not see us to help ,really was upsetting for all of us to see that . Overall, my family left disappointed with the restaurant. We had looked forward to it to celebrate something so meaningful to us and this restaurant just did not deliver . The establishment itself is beautiful. Drinks were great. However, the service was not good. They forgot many items that never arrived. It took me 1 hr to get my drink. The food itself was subpar. I ordered the enchiladas poblanas which were good. I got the lobster ceviche and was shocked to see it was mostly cabbage and very little lobster (for the price of the plate I wish the lobster would've overpowered the veggies) my party got their drinks, desserts, and entrees at different times. It's good to go and try, but I probably won't be back. I don't mind spending, but it needs to be worth it.... We were amazed on the place nice ambiance for a fine dining experience. I was so excited to try Diosa and my friends planned a surprise brunch for me this past Sunday. Unfortunately, the service was so bad that it took away from the overall experience. The restaurant is absolutely stunning and very spacious. The food is delicious and drinks are great. However, the service did not match the price point for this restaurant. How can you expect to pay those prices with subpar service? I started to get concerned when the waiter forgot to take half our tables order and no one had drinks for 45 min. Then I realized we did not have one assigned waiter to our table, further leading to more chaos and confusion. We had guests main plates out before drinks and appetizers. A waitress served a guest the wrong plate and was visibly upset when the guest mentioned they had already taken a bite of the side dish. Overall, an odd experience. The food and drinks were so good, but not worth the headache and price. I really hope they get better organized and recognize their wrongdoing rather than the customer having to constantly remind them of missing food/ items. read more

2 stars, not the best. They're trying. Was here for a bday party yesterday and I was honestly happy I ordered directly from the bar because the check was a mess. The here drinks were good. But my martini glass was broken, which should've been caught by the bartender, definitely weren't busy so there's no reason to miss a cracked glass. The place itself is nice, it's trying REALL HARD to be upscale, but that obviously starts with the service. At the minimum, get the orders correct and check the glasses before they go out. The food was good, back of the house definitely gets more credit for carrying the front of the house, who just probably needs more training. This place is in Downey, so I'll probably never go back. Just wanted to give an honest review. But for as slow as it was and it's hard to overlook the mistakes that were made. So beware and check your glasses! read more

I decided to make reservations a month in advance for a surprise birthday brunch. I was very excited to try it but it became less exciting as the time came closer. When I asked if there was a cake fee over the phone, I was told there was none. When I arrived with a cake, I was told it be $5 per person to have the cake cut there. Our party was for 19 guest, you do the math. Things got worse as we sat down. My expectations for this place kept getting lower as our food orders came out at very different times. Two guest got there orders after the rest of us were finished. The food was delicious and there drinks were yummy. However, due to the lack of communication from the staff and the long waits to everything, it's more likely I will not be returning. read more

It was my first time booking our annual Christmas staff dinner here and the experience was amazing. From booking the reservation to paying the bill. Please get rid of the Valet Parking or Section Valet to only one side of the Parking lot. They are very rude!
