Came to celebrate my mom today, made a reservation for 8 at 8:30. We came in early with an additional person, we were understanding to the need to wait a little bit longer to adjust to our party. However we wait ONE hour more to be seated with a table set up for 8 people not 9. One of the hostess was really sweet and attempted to accommodate us while the other hostess was really rude and mentioned that we were a party of 8 when asking for another table setting. When we had waited for an hour past our reservation for a table for 9. Server was attentive! Food came out quick and really good! 2 stars, not the best. They're trying. Was here for a bday party yesterday and I was honestly happy I ordered directly from the bar because the check was a mess. The here drinks were good. But my martini glass was broken, which should've been caught by the bartender, definitely weren't busy so there's no reason to miss a cracked glass. The place itself is nice, it's trying REALL HARD to be upscale, but that obviously starts with the service. At the minimum, get the orders correct and check the glasses before they go out. The food was good, back of the house definitely gets more credit for carrying the front of the house, who just probably needs more training. This place is in Downey, so I'll probably never go back. I decided to make reservations a month in advance for a surprise birthday brunch. I was very excited to try it but it became less exciting as the time came closer. When I asked if there was a cake fee over the phone, I was told there was none. When I arrived with a cake, I was told it be $5 per person to have the cake cut there. Our party was for 19 guest, you do the math. Things got worse as we sat down. My expectations for this place kept getting lower as our food orders came out at very different times. Two guest got there orders after the rest of us were finished. The food was delicious and there drinks were yummy. We arrived an was greeted at the front asked if we had a reservation, no..just a walkin and were asked if it was a special occasion or celebration. Wait time was about 10 min, great! This is a restaurant so we go to eat really good food. I don't think the appearance of a place should matter just as long they pass the inspections and it's clean inside out. I should've had street tacos instead of going here. The food did not match the aesthetics of this place. As an appetizer I ordered lobster and scallop ceviche. It had so much lime. There was no flavor to it. I also had the cast iron carnitas. What a big disappointment. About 1/3 of the plate was cover with dry carnitas. You can tell the waiters and servers had no experience. It was either that or they didn't care about the job which is worse. Seven of us went. I sat pretty much in the middle and when it came to giving me my heavy plate why did the waiter stand on one end of the table and slowly try to place the plate down in front of me. I saw him struggling so I carried it and place it down. Why didn't he say, "I'm standing right behind you and will be placing the plate in front of you." A couple of my friends asked the server questions about the menu items and he/her usually stated, "They serve it with....", "They have the..." it says a lot about a company when employees don't feel valued or appreciated because they didn't include themselves in those statements. read more

I'm so sad to have to write this review. I was so looking forward to going to Diosa and bringing my mother here for Mother's Day. I made a reservation for a large party weeks ago. When we arrived 10 minutes early the place was packed, so I was glad we were checked in and ready to be seated at our reservation time. Fifteen minutes after our reservation time, we noticed countless parties were being seated ahead of us. When I went to make sure they hadn't missed us they said it would be at least another 15 minutes before we could be seated. I was frustrated because I had made a reservation to avoid this type of wait. After prodding them a second time, they said that we were difficult to seat quickly because we were a large party. That makes no sense. If you have a reservation, your place should be reserved. There's no point in reserving if we're being admitted in the same way you'd admit a walk-in. To make matters worse, the hostess was extremely rude to us after we expressed our frustration. When she finally did seat us, she didn't say a single word to us. Put down our menus and just walked away. Oof. I was pissed. No apologies, no offer for a free appetizer, no nothing. Some of the worst hostess service I've ever experienced. Listen, I'll put up with that behavior at a cheap place, but this restaurant is charging elevated, almost fine dining prices, your front of house has to meet that standard. This woman DID NOT. We were also seated in a part of the restaurant that was dark and didn't have as nice of an ambiance as the rest of the restaurant. Disappointing. Luckily, we were greeted by a lovely waitress and support wait staff. One of these stars belongs to her. She was kind, apologetic, and understanding. I wish that was it, but sadly, we proceeded to wait another hour and a half for our entrees. We didn't eat until two hours AFTER our initial reservation. It was insane. The kitchen was horribly backed up and it was clear to me at this point that these reservations were poorly managed and overbooked. A horrible thing to do when folks are coming in to celebrate a special occasion because you end up ruining that occasion with a poor experience. We're paying good money to have a great experience, and by the end you're forced to pay a lot of money for a mediocre experience. Huge hospitality fail. The food, thankfully, was good. Thank goodness. The drinks were as well. Again, thank goodness. The chefs get that second star I've put in here. Unfortunately, there was no offer to comp anything, no offer for free dessert. Nothing to make up for everything. I don't blame the wait staff for this because they probably aren't approved to do this for some reason. My husband had to ask them to comp something and they comp'd two drinks for "Mother's Day" - I guess not the inconvenience? - according to management. Smh They've sadly lost recurring customers who would have returned again and again if we'd had a better overall experience. Food was good but not worth the price for most dishes. If I'm paying $130 for fettuccine Del Mar it should absolutely knock my socks off and it was just ok. The service was very slow but I didn't even mind that because I was there to spend time with my friends. Paella- the seafood tasted bland and over cooked and rubbery. Had reservations for 8:45 didn't get to our table until 9: 15ish , i asked the girl upfront and kept saying they were just cleaning the table (mind you the restaurant wasn't not packed at all). Don't even get me started with the valet parking situation. Parked on the side and as I was walking in the valet driver says I can't park on the last row away from the restaurant because that's the other businesses parking there was not sign stating that. So I told the guys fine I'll do valet my car is the black one parked over there. I realized it was time to pay I had left my wallet in my car so I asked the valet man if I could have my keys to get my wallet and HE DID NOT GIVE ME MY KEYS, he told me he could open the car from a distance. They have a Parmesan wheel!! That's the most important thing to know. If you order the seafood fettuccine they mix the noodles in the parm wheel table side. So good. The ambiance is perfect for a fun night out. The drinks were really good. I had the fridas garden and it was refreshing. It doesn't need the matcha IMO I couldn't taste it anyways. The service was really good and the supervisor came to check that everything was going well. They have a ton of tableside services that we didn't have room to try such as churros and the shot cart that goes around. Music is a ten, they play it a little loud which we were into. We came for my son's birthday, we sat down for party of five, decor was nice .... We ordered ahi tuna tower and corn appetizer, ahi tuna was super super spicy we can't eat it . After 25 minutes the server came back after my son get up to look for him to order, finally our server came back we order , mole chicken and cornflower salad enchiladas, my salad was super salty , my husband's chicken was so dry and tough like pice of plastic , again we have to hunt down our server to let him know that the my salad was super salty and chicken was super dry , he changed my salad but after all my family finished eating finally arrived,the second salad wasn't good either, my son is a chef ‍ on one of nice restaurant in fashion island and I'm a general manager on one of high end restaurant, we agreed that shame on those team members to work in this beautiful place without any experience and lack of knowledge and care less about this restaurant...... Our bills was almost $300 we still tipped out the server even he gave us the worst service ever , the funny part after my son told him that the ahi tuna was very spicy and salad was bad he took it off from our bill ......honestly I love my in and out burger before I went back home , I will never come back to this restaurant pay $300 and end up eating burgers with my family. Keep in mind that the restaurant has only been open for a few months. So I def see some room for improvement for an updated review. I went here for dinner with some coworkers and it was a vibe! Everyone was dressed to impress, the ambiance was amazing, and the decor was impressive. They did have a DJ playing when we got there, which was cool but the volume steadily got louder and louder which made it hard to hear each other talk. Depending on when you get there, there might only be valet parking available. Service was mediocre, or at least whoever we got as our server was just not the best. I felt like it took forever to put our order in and one of my friends order never got put in so we all got our food and she was watching us eat. With some of the drinks they do a table side service which is pretty neat. The flair with brining certain drinks with dry ice is fun for videos and photos as we read more

I would have liked it to be a bit spicy but that's preference not masses Asada - Delicious, moist & charred at the end so it added a crunch. No complaints. ( We ended up ordering empanadas with this and it did not disappoint) Shrimp - Omg!!! Def took the stage .. Shrimps were not overcooked the sauce was just great and the cabbage mix on top was soo good. We almost ordered another. Sexy ambience! Perfect for a date night or a night out with a small group of girlfriends. We went on a Friday night and it was sort of a club vibe which I really liked. Came to celebrate my mother's bday and reserved for a party of 10 . Our server was good and we did like him but he just couldn't deliver the best service . And that was because We noticed that we were the biggest party and the restaurant did have about 6other smaller tables and another party but yet we only seen that one server for everyone. It was so frustrating to ask for anything because it would just take to long to find him . We arrived at 3:30 it took about 25min just to get drinks and then about 45 more minutes to get the food.... The food was also just not the best tasting . The mar and Tierra fish was too fishy and overcooked and the mashed potatoes croquette was so odd , not appeasing at all . The ribeye was way too chewy , I could barely cut it and did not pair well with the spicy mashed potatoes . The fajitas meat were overly seasoned , way too charred and salty .The drinks, those were ok. At the moment to ask for the check ,our waiter was no where to be seen so we waved to get someone's attention and all the girls in pink who work there deliberately turned around to not see us to help ,really was upsetting for all of us to see that . Overall, my family left disappointed with the restaurant. We had looked forward to it to celebrate something so meaningful to us and this restaurant just did not deliver . The establishment itself is beautiful. Drinks were great. However, the service was not good. They forgot many items that never arrived. It took me 1 hr to get my drink. The food itself was subpar. I ordered the enchiladas poblanas which were good. I got the lobster ceviche and was shocked to see it was mostly cabbage and very little lobster (for the price of the plate I wish the lobster would've overpowered the veggies) my party got their drinks, desserts, and entrees at different times. It's good to go and try, but I probably won't be back. I don't mind spending, but it needs to be worth it....
